a half eaten pizza and a glass of beer

Great little pizza place in Happy Camp, CA. The people were very nice and the pizza was amazing. I'm glad we made the trip to visit. Had a few beers and the individual pizzas that could be shared. Great deal.

Overall: Take-Out Review: Good pizza considering the fact that there's not much else around. The good: Good sizes and tastes decent. Nothing extraordinary, but it's pizza and it's the only option in the large area. The people serving our takeout were nice. Takes a second to make but it's good. The bad: Pretty expensive when it comes to pizza, since they have a 'monopoly' on the area. Just 'average' pizza. Nothing great, nothing bad. Obviously no delivery. Atmosphere: N/A Service: 8/10 Food: 8/10

Good pizza and friendly people. I'm vegan so I ordered veggie no cheese. Veggies were fresh and the dough was great.

Not bad pizza, the breadsticks are awesome though! A bit overpriced, but this is the only pizza place in town.

Worth seeking out!…read more Groundlings Pizza is the kind of place you stumble upon once and then tell everyone about. Tucked away on Jerry's Flat Road, it's truly a rare find. The artisanal pizzas are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can actually sit and watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which in my opinion, makes the food taste even better. The pizzas are interesting, thoughtfully crafted, flavorful, and clearly made with care. There's something special about seeing the process and knowing your food is being made fresh from start to finish. If you're looking for excellent pizza off the beaten path, Groundlings Pizza is absolutely worth the trip. A true hidden gem!

You need to order by the front and pay first The sausage calzone is not really my thing. Way too many unchopped garlic(like half of the content). I thought it would be pieces of round cut-sausage but it's more of ground meat with some kind of white sauce. It gets really heavy after a few bites. The pickled banana pepper isn't helping the heaviness either. But others seem to like it. The four cheese pizza is also pretty basic. I personally would not go back They also have some interesting gelato flavors selling inside.

Really pleasantly surprised by this pizza spot!…read more We were coming down from the Redwoods and saw this place on Yelp. Thankfully, we decided to call an hour ahead. The wait was around 1 hr 15 min when we called around 6 PM, which gave us enough time to check in to our Airbnb and grab some groceries next door. We ordered the Garden Grove vegan pizza. It was my first time trying a vegan pizza, and I thought it was delicious. The pizza was hot when we arrived, the crust was thin, pizza was loaded with toppings, and was flavorful and filling. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Would recommend ordering out as there is little space inside for dining in. Would definitely recommend and come again.

So this place is always packed opens at 3 PM because you know people don't want pizza at lunch,…read morewhat kind of psychopath would want pizza at lunchtime you know. The normal wait time for a pizza here is one to two hours, sometimes even three hours to get a pizza to go. This last visit it was a two hour wait so what I did was pay damn near double and just buy eight slices of the pizzas that were made to be reheated. Instead of paying about 30 bucks for a pizza I ended up paying over $50. That's not even what the complaint is about the cashier was about to give us eight plates for eight slices of pizza when I wanted to take my pizza home. While we were waiting my friend and I got two beers and we were finishing our beers. While we're drinking, our beers here comes the pizza and two small pizza boxes. When the person giving us our pizza boxes saw us drinking our beers he asked do you want me to keep these pizza boxes in the warmer to which my friend and I both replied no thank you we're going to eat some. To which the worker responded extremely rudely and unprovoked wow if you're going to eat it here why would you waste the boxes? Maybe because my friend and I don't wanna eat a whole pizza. We don't wanna wait two hours for you guys to bake a pizza that takes 10 minutes to bake. Maybe if you guys weren't so slow. We could've ordered a normal pizza and got a normal pizza box. Or maybe we should've just got eight plates for eight slices of pizza and juggle them the out of the store to please you guys?... the dude was an absolutely rude, you act as if we're stealing from your children's mouth because we got two to go boxes for eight slices of pizza? I wish I could use the choice words I want to use to describe that worker but yelp will just take the review down. I immediately lost my appetite after the person was so blatantly rude in front of all the other customers. Seriously what is wrong with your employee there what is his issue? The place is constantly packed like a sardine can you cant move around or even sit. The only reason I tolerate the horribly crowded chaotic atmosphere is because their pies are decent, but theyre not decent enough to be belittled and talked down to like a theif for getting two to go boxes from the cashier, the guy was literally pissed off that we were taking up seats in the store and had the audacity to have to go boxes. If you're that upset or worried about people occupying your store, maybe buy yourselves a bigger location or rent a larger location instead of making your customers feel so unwelcome. Or better yet dont hire A holes to work for you and make your customers feel welcome. I loved headies pizza but I wont come back and ill tell everyone about how rude your employee was and it being the reason I refuse to be a patron any longer. DO BETTER. EDUCATE YOUR EMPLOYEES ON HOW TO PROPERLY TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS. To dump on someone over 2 to go boxes, get yourself a horrible review is pathetic... i guess 8 paper plates woulda been the more eco friendly choice.... Or is it the money your business is so concerned about losing? Maybe if you're struggling so hard to provide to go boxes to your customers, you should charge people for to go boxes. That way you don't have to verbally abuse me in front of other customers when I come to eat some food. Its not my problem anymore as again I wont be coming back. 60 dollars and a 15 percent tip to be defecated on by your worker over some to go boxes. What a fabulous dining experience....

Best thin crust tavern style pizza we've had in a long time, in a very unexpected location…read more My wife, her mom, and I had just crossed the Oregon-California border into Oregon and used the nearby Dollar Tree in Brookings to be our end point on our fourth day Internet access had been spotty throughout our trip through Big Sur and then Redwood parks, so used a combination of Google maps and Yelp to find nearby businesses, just for fun. Fat Cat showed up with high ratings. None of us were particularly hungry, but their ratings for thin-crust pizza piqued my interest, so we adjusted our plans and walked in. There was one employee (Ian) working on this mid afternoon time on hump day, so had to get his attention while he was working in the back. You place and pay for your order first, so ordered a medium thin crust pineapple/ham ($15). Not knowing what to expect, I asked if the pizza crust could be made well done. We sat down at the fast food booths, and didn't have to wait long. When the pizza came, all of us knew immediately by the sight and smell that it was going to be great. The crust was the perfect thinness, and the toppings were generous. Our plan was to sample some of it and then take the rest back, but the three of us ended eating every single piece. It was that good. We learned a bit more about the business from Ian. It used to be a franchise pizza joint, but the owner decided to stop being a franchisee, and create a local name. 'Gato Gordo' was thrown out as an early name, with the final name being chosen as the winner from an early Christmas party secret Santa gift. The pizza crust is consistently made by a dough sheeter at a low thinness setting. This might be sacrilegious, but I think I prefer this way vs the hand tossed NY style that is way more prevalent (and way more expensive).

That's where Fat Cat saved the day. A quick perusal of their diverse (feline-tilted) menu yielded perfect options. We went with a large basic cheese pizza for our simpler palates and a pepperoni and veggie combo for the our more refined diners. (They have many other options). We capped this off with an order of breadsticks and large quantities of extra marinara dipping sauce. Food for our masses was promptly delivered, reasonably priced and quite perfect for our needs the evening of our arrival. This was a great way for us to launch into an exceptional week visiting the coast. Thank you for the great pizza. Bless you for the prompt delivery. We'll be back next time we're in town!
