If you're in this town....the name becomes ironic because there is not much to be happy about in Happy Camp. This Pizza joint is NOT what I'd call good pizza. But if you're on the road and you find yourself here at meal time. You don't have a lot of choices. Its greasy, cheesy pizza, that is cheap. Once you get over the the State of Jefferson folks and the pot/meth heads across the street. Order your pizza eat quickly and leave. And BTW...being a minority didn't make me feel any safer in this town. Luckily I was there with 40 of my closest friends wearing motorcycle leathers with the look of a motorcycle gang....so it wasn't a huge problem. Seriously the best pizza within a 600 mile radius. Any pizza place that automatically gives you a side of ranch dipping sauce is automatic clutch. Definitely worth not stopping for hundreds of miles until you arrive in this beautiful valley here to eat a giant pizza. I recommend ordering a large and taking the rest on the road if you are just passing through. Truly happy to stumble into this town and this here pie house. When you're driving along Hwy 96 along the Klamath River, there's not too many places to eat. If you're coming from I5 near Weed, Happy Camp's about the first place you'll really see food. There's more food coming up in the following towns, though don't expect fast food. So, anyway, we were getting hungry, it was about the first thing we saw, and the spouse is a big fan of pizza. We thought "Why not?" I ordered the last pizza slice they had, and the last cheese breads that they had out. While they were greasy, they were pretty tasty. I was a bit concerned about the pizza, as it looked like it had been sitting out a bit too long. However, the cheese was actually in pretty good shape. I would have put a bit less tomato sauce on it, but other than that, it was good for what I was getting. The woman behind the counter was nice, but slightly disorganized. I got the feeling she was new/covering for someone, but I don't know the whole story. The people were pretty friendly. A couple were asking us why we were coming through (vacation, natch), and gave some suggestions. And, yes Virginia, California does have a region that wants to secede. People up there have been trying to secede since the 1940's, and the "State of Jefferson" is named after our third President, Thomas Jefferson. I have to say as someone from outside the region looking in; it can seem pretty creepy at times. read more

Not a lot of choices in town after 7:00 PM. This was about it. They make their own dough fresh every morning, will roll you out your choice of thin, medium or thick crust. The sauce & cheese was pretty good. We got a medium 1/2 & 1/2. Half pepperoni, onion, other half pepperoni & pineapple. Came to $20 even. No drinks or anything else, just medium 2 topping pizza. The cashier and cook do not wear masks and when my wife, very politely, said she couldn't afford to catch covid and decided not to order was verbally assulted. Amazing how a biker with 40 buddies can spend an hour or so in a town and say the people aren't happy. Happy Camp has a great number of wonderful people, and we live on the Klamath River with forested hills and blue sky above us because we love it! We also love our Pizza House. In all the years I've attended Chamber of Commerce meetings, teacher's gettogethers, birthday parties and just gotten together with friends and family at the Pizza House they have always served us delicious pizza with a smile and friendly greeting too!!! Workers from the school and forest service across the street, business people, committees, and the high school kids all find this the favorite place to go for lunch. The owner is always ready to help out a community cause, too! There is no place on earth that I'd feel safer than Happy Camp because of the friendly people. Sure, there may be a few problems, but where on earth aren't there any?? We have so many kind, gracious and giving people that the other kind don't even appear on the radar screen! They can justs keep on biking back to wherever they get their inferior pizza. In such an absolutely beautiful wilderness setting, people love to gather at the Pizza House, Iinside or on the patio with historic Happy Camp mural) or "take out" for a picnic at the RiverPark, or share with a bunch of the youth for movie night. For being totally in the middle of nowhere, this place surpassed my expectations. The pizza was decent and the breadsticks were pretty good. And surprisingly they had a big screen TV showing the NBA playoffs. The place was packed for the Warriors game! This is my favorite pizza place. I'm very surprised with the previous reviews. I've been there three times on motorcycle rides and everyone in my group has raved about the pizza. Fresh ingredients and excellently prepared. I've had the Bigfoot several times and it was consistently fabulous. The bread sticks are great as well. We plan our rides in the area to make sure we hit The Pizza House. Evidently I am not alone, on a previous trip I met 4 bikers from Grant's Pass (a good two hour ride) and they said they made the run just because the pizza here is the best! INice little place. Being a local makes it rough to go out and eat with not many options. This is usually the go to place when one can afford it as the prices are high. The pizza is usually good and it depends on who is making/cooking it. Plenty of times I have asked for the Grey Eagle which is a taco pizza and on more than one occasion I have received it with old brown lettuce and mushy old tomatoes. Or you ask for jelepino and olive pizza your gonna end up with an olive pizza. Same goes for artichoke hearts which will be next to none or should I say 1! and thats if they have them! Honestly with the prices I am paying I should get what I ask for and nothing less. Most of the gals are very friendly some need to get over their attitudes as this is why many people leave and often do not return. Sad but true.... read more
