Not quite Italy yet pretty darn close is The Pizza Kitchen on Kingston Pike. What a find! Absolutely delicious salads and pizzas with generous toppings and the tastiest crust around. The mouthwatering garlic knots ($8.95) likely are made from the same recipe as the crust as they are slightly sweet and light and smothered with fresh garlic. I ordered a personal-sized Greek pizza ($11) that came with homemade marinara sauce, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, feta cheese and onions. My companions each enjoyed a regular-size Greek salad ($7.25) and a large House salad ($9.95). And then there was the lasagna ($13.95) smothered in marinara and mozzarella cheese with a hint of fennel in the meat sauce of ground beef and pork. The restaurant offers soft drinks and beer, and vegans will dig the alternative cauliflower crusts with their pizzas that come in a variety of sizes and prices. Patrons order at the counter and a cheery employee brings the food to the table. The atmosphere is festive with red walls and decorated with photos, many of them featuring Elvis of rock and roll fame.

I will preface that I have eaten their pizza. That's why my husband and I chose to eat at the restaurant. The prices are very high. Adding toppings for all the pizza sizes are not the same price. That's very rare and greedy. A lot is self service. I was not expecting that. The pizza needed more sauce and seasoning. My husband noticed that too. They did cut it well. The spinach dip was amazing. The bread seems handmade. They need a little improvement.

The Pizza Kitchen - 10420 Kingston Pike in Knoxville

A family owned restaurant; convenient to all of West Knoxville and Farragut. Located on Kingston Pike about a half mile west of Pellissippi Parkway The Pizza Kitchen is a family friendly dining experience. They have wonderful appetizers: garlic knots are my favorite, but they have shrooms, saucy meatballs, cheesy bread and spinach artichoke dip. Side salads are next with a House, a Greek, and a Caprese. They feature an assortment of dinner salads along with a meatball sub sandwich, lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, and manicotti. Then of course we come to the name of their restaurant, The Pizza Kitchen. They know how to do pizza right with spices, sauces, and tastes for every palate. From individual to family size, you will find what you are craving. Prices are very reasonable from an individual 8" pie to a family size 14" (which in some families could still be an individual). Stop by The Pizza Kitchen today for lunch or dinner. By yourself, or with family and friends, it's the perfect setting for dinner. Don't forget to order 'Take-out' when you're on the go. Follow me on a Yelp for more things to see and do in Knoxville and East Tennessee.

Garlic knots (4 per order+sauce). Huge and fluffy.

Our oldest finished school for the summer and got to choose a celebration meal. Of course, he wanted to quintessential kid meal of pizza. We ordered garlic knots (4 per order), a 12" pepperoni and pineapple (yes, it's a legit topping! Ha.), and a 12" BBQ chicken. Our order came out to $38 for carryout. This was our second time eating at PK, the first visit my husband becoming obsessed. The food from tonight was fine, but not obsession-worthy. Stars meet in the middle for a solid experience. The best thing about this restaurant is definitely the crust. It is wheat, and fairly thin and chewy with a fluffy "puff" at the back. You can tell that it is fresh and made in-house. Love that! The marinara sauce was a bit bland for us, adding moisture but not the salt, sweetness, or punch of herbs that we prayed to the pizza gods for. Same thing with the knots. It is made with their awesome crust and they are fluffy and giganto but needed a little sprinkle of garlic salt. The BBQ sauce on the other pizza was really tasty and the chicken well-cooked and seasoned. No the processed meat, grisly bites that you get elsewhere.

Quarantine Takeout: Large Pepperoni Pizza!!

If you want a really good California style thin crust pizza, then this is your place! They specialize in whole wheat crusts, and there is not a huge selection of whole wheat crusts in the Knoxville area. This place was a go-to of mine decades ago, then they closed for almost a decade and recently reopened. So glad to have this place back. My go-to order is a Large Pepperoni Pizza. The crust is thin and crispy, just the way I like it. They do a large takeout business but also do dine-in. Check them out bc they also have live music occasionally. They are located in the shopping center that also has Shae Home Design, and next to Bill Jones Music. Go give them a shot, I'm sure they won't disappoint! Cheers & Enjoy!!

This was my first visit to The Pizza Kitchen and it will be my last. I called in a pick-up order and was told 45 min, but waited over an hour for the food. While things were not off to a good start, the owner apologized for the delay and was very nice. If the food was great The Pizza Kitchen could have turned it around, but it was a real disappointment. After waiting over an hour, I assumed the pizza would be hot and fresh by the time I arrived at home. I live 5 min away. The pizza and garlic knots were barely warm. Pepperoni pizza and the Maui Wowie were a 2 out of 5. The garlic knots were very roughly and not much flavor...a 1 out of 5. It was unanimous with the family that this one is not worth a return.

On several visits, we have specifically requested that our garlic cheese bread and salad arrive before the pizza so we can actually enjoy the appetizer and salad course first. Tonight, we again had a very clear conversation about this request, yet everything arrived in the exact opposite order. What was most frustrating was being told that "the pizza comes out when the pizza comes out," as though there is no ability for the front staff and kitchen to coordinate timing. In an open-concept restaurant where the order staff and kitchen are working side by side, it seems like simple communication could easily solve this issue. We truly enjoy the food and want this restaurant to succeed, but proper pacing of a meal is part of good dining service. Appetizers and salads should enhance the experience -- not arrive simultaneously with or after the main course. We hope management will take this constructively because the food deserves service that matches its quality

Menus, silverware, napkins and plates are available on a table when you walk in and you order at the counter and pickup at another window. The order was ready extremely quickly and we dived in - everything was hot and fresh. Kids liked the huge slices of pizza - thin crust. The cheese sticks were amazing - big and fluffy - only about 6-7 in an order but would highly recommend. Pizza was delicious - pesto base with chicken, arugula, feta. We ordered the medium and the pizza was filling. A great stop if you have kids or are craving pizza - lots of different speciality pizzas or you can build your own.

Overall this is a great pizza option and I will go back any time we're back in town.

Booths weren't comfortable. We ordered the garlic knots. They were really good. I ordered the two slices of cheese pizza. I wanted to get pepperoni but hearing the put toppings on already cooked cheese pizza.. not worth the price for subpar way to get pepperoni slices. There isn't enough time for the pepperoni to cook and yield it's flavor to the slices. Two cheese slices 5.49. Two topping slices 9.89. Almost double the price. Make that make sense. My spouse decided on the calzone because at least it was made fresh. It was pretty large and filled out the plate. Calzones were 10.99. The flavors and food was not that good to justify the prices. I get that it is a chain restaurant but the slices were what I would expect from a local gas station or grocery store. They definitely weren't nyc style in terms of flavor and uneven thick cheese. The cheese is clearly a blend of varieties. I don't think we will be back for the food. Neither options were hit out the park delicious and it's pricy for the actual value.

The space is cozy with about 4, 4-tops, a few outdoor tables, and a bar along the wall with stools in case you come in for a slice and soda deal at lunch time. We ordered breadsticks, a salad, a thin crust with pepperoni, and a stuffed pizza with sausage. They told us that we couldn't order the thin crust with half no cheese (for our lactose intolerant kiddo who still loves sauce, crust and toppings), as a heads up to anyone with similar dietary restrictions. This is due to the cook time being inconsistent for the cheese versus no cheese sides of the pie. We were asked if we were dining in or ordering to go. We opted to eat there since we live a decent distance away. Our breadsticks and house salad came out first, packed for transport and no plates or silverware were provided. They seemed confused and a bit annoyed when we asked for some. The breadsticks tasted like butter and parm doused funnel cake fries and the salad was fine...served its purpose but nothing special. Our thin crust came out next and was fresh and fabulous. My husband felt like it was a bit more overcooked than when we previously got it. Tons of cheese, slightly sweet sauce and crispy pepperoni. It is cut into squares. Lastly, our stuffed pizza came out. Again, no pie server given and we needed one desperately for the thick and gooey pizza. We waited awhile to get our requested pie utensil and then struggled to cut the pieces with our thin plasticware. The pizza was extremely fresh and tasty, however! If you are wondering what the difference is between the deep dish and stuffed, the stuffed is almost like a pizza sandwich. One pizza crust on bottom, toppings, and then another thin crust on top of those before spreading a thin layer of sauce. The crust is thicker than on a deep dish, too. I am sure that we will get pizza here again at some point, but never ever will we dine in. The trash was overflowing, every table wobbly and in need of cleaning, and unfortunately very uninviting service. They seemed quite miserable.
