Man what a bummer. The service here has never been the greatest in general. But today it was really below average as was the food. When we entered all the employees seemed annoyed we were there. When I started my order I had asked the cashier how long ago their slices came out of the oven. She seemed very confused by that question and answered with "um". Then the owner stepped in and said something to her and the cashier then said "yea the pizza is from today". LIKE I WOULD FRICKEN HOPE SO. The owner then went on to tell me that they would warm it in the oven.. honestly this was major red flags since no one could tell me how long ago the pizza came out. When our order came up my husband had a very upset look on his face and when I opened the box it was two very small very very over cooked pizzas slices. The cheese was orange brown, and a good portion of the pizza was burnt. Now, we are not complainers. So I asked my husband to take a bite first to see. Maybe it tasted better then it looked. Nope. Completely dry inside. Cheese was like leather. So I went back upfront to ask for a refund. The cashier was annoyed with my request, told me they could give me new slices instead (the same old pizza, just new slices). I said no thank you, I'd like a refund and she told me they could only offer new slices. Thankfully there was one nice gentlemen there who fought my case for me and got me my refund. Honestly, I wasn't going to leave without it. But I was very calm and respectful on the whole situation. Point of this long review is.... If you want people to patronize your business, then give them fresh food. If you have no passion or care for your customers then close the dang business down. I love this place for lunch! I do the two slice special which includes a coke and it's around $7-$8. The pizza is always hot and fresh and the food is great. I highly recommend the pan pizza with extra cheese (our favorite)! I also recommend the Italian beef (pictured below) as its one of my favorites. 5/5. When pulling into the lot, the lines for parking were barely visible but it wasn't a problem as no one was there. When entering the pizza place it was clean and looked nice. It was as dead as a amusement park on a school day. The prices were not bad for a whole pizza but one slice for thin was $3.25. Not worth it in my opinion but that was before trying. The lady serving us felt like she didn't want us to be there. That's the vibe I got from her. Getting our pizza was pretty quick as it was already made, she got it from this pizza warmer. Ordered over the phone and informed the lady i was new to town. They burnt the pizza and me and my family waited in the parking lot 20 more minutes while they made a new one. No apology. Pizza Tasted ok but was still burnt a bit on the bottom and the kids wouldn't eat it. They ate cereal for dinner. Got ranch sauce and it was a bad texture and taste. We've just relocated to the area and have become fans of The Pizza Place. We order for delivery about once a week or so. They'll store your contact information so it's fast and easy to order. The delivery service is always friendly. The thin crust is, and the sauce and toppings are nicely balanced. The other items we've tried have been good, as well. Be aware that if you order during a peak time, it might take an hour to get to you. Not a big deal to us, and great for football night! There we go folks. I've never had pizza from this place but the people that I'm with wanted pizza so they suggested "The Pizza Place". So ok. So we ordered and right off the bat the girl that answered the phone didn't seem to care at all that I was calling to order food. She wanted my name and then didn't listen to my order at all. I explained what I wanted to order and I repeated twice what I was wanting. Was told the price. Large double decker cheese and extra mushrooms and a small pepperoni pizzas. Was told $38.25. Thought it was a lot but ok. Everyone wanted it. So 30 minutes I was told and hung up on me. Showed in 40 minutes to find out the place was empty but was told 30 minutes. No way an empty restaurant and empty pizza oven takes that long to make a thin crust pizza. Maybe a double decker pizza but not a thin crust. So when I walked up to the counter to pick up my order that I see on top of the over the counter guy read off my order and I said it was wrong. He walked away without saying anything. The one other person In the restaurant that was having problems with his food laughed. Then a girl walked up and asked up what's up. I explained that I ordered a double decker pizza and she said "I thought you said thin crust ". No empathy at all. No I'm sorry no left me make it right for you or how can I make it right. I the got I can give you a credit. What do I want a credit for ?? I haven't even paid yet. Plus I just realized that it was $38.25 for one large thin crust pizza and one small thin crust one topping pizza!!!! WTF. I ALMOST WALKED OUT. No wonder they weren't buzzy. Over priced food. I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for a new pizza and the other one that was right ( hopefully) was going to sit on top the oven and get soggy. So in my eyes if I was then after I talked to them about being polite and maybe apologizing and being empathetic I should not have to pay for the food that I didn't order. But nope. No manager in duty and no one to speak to other then two teenagers that really didn't care and only could say I can give you a credit. Hell no to a credit. I would never order there again ever. Even if the food today was free. I would never order there because not just because they don't know how to take an order or the price gouging for food or that they will probably spit in my food if I call and order food and use the credit. Worse experience I have had in a long time. So I got home and opened the pizza box and the top of the large pizza was stuck to the pizza. Yeah. Almost a trifecta. And here it is. Im very disappointed because we used to go to the pizza place all the time and loved it! We ordered a sausage and light giardiniera pizza a couple months back and it was soggy and falling apart. So this time when I called I said "can you please emphasize easy on the peppers?" Well.. this is the pizza my husband took home. It's almost like they took the jar of peppers and POURED it on the pizza. I don't like soupy pizza! I went there with my family for the 1st time after they re-opened. We were glad to see this local business recover from the tornado, and really glad no one had been hurt. We ordered our pizzas and an appetizer that we planned to eat at the restaurant. They brought our appetizer promptly. About an hour after we placed the order I checked with them. The order was sitting on top of the oven. Not the end of the world, just hungry parents and kids. We decided to just take the pizzas home and eat them there. Well, I know we were really hungry, but what a delicious pizza! We've been so programmed with the "30 minutes or less" pizza, we forgot what real homemade pizza tasted like. Like their menu brags; real and fresh ingredients. A pizza with a personality. Even our little food critics thought it was delicious. You might have a different opinion, but keep an open mind, and try to see the personality of this pizza through the "instant pizza" fog. It's worth the extra time if you do! I have not had a single time (and I've been here at least eight times in four years) where the service wasn't extremely slow...they seem to hire teens and not train them well. Regarding the food, I used to order two hot dogs and fries and there were always plenty of fries (great fries by the way) wrapped up with the hot dogs..Last time (post tornado and rebuild), I ordered the same and there were very few fries..What gives? There are many other choices for similar food (Fratellos, Sammies etc) and I think the poor service and meager food will unfortunately pit this institution out of business within the next couple of years if this continues Edit...I have been here several times in the past month and the service is much faster...the hot dogs are good and the fries are just ok..if you are expecting a Chicago style hot dog, go somewhere else..they are good but not great dogs...missing sport peppers, cucumber wedges and celery salt. The fries seem consistently undercooked..slightly crispy...white in color. And please get rid of the Heinz catsup sign in the dining room...it says something about putting it on hot dogs...Boo..cannot take you seriously with the sign up. Went in for a hot dog and fry around 1:30 this afternoon. Placed an order for a hot dog with everything and peppers, plus fries and a drink. The girl waiting on me says its like $7-something! - I'm like for a hot dog? When I get my order a few minutes later there are NO peppers, just a bunch of onions and relish! I did attempt to scarf it but could not suffer through whatever they tried to pass off as a hot dog in the Chicago area. It was SOGGY BUNS, STALE ONIONS, & NASTY RELISH, YUCK! I tried to at least eat it by getting up and asking the girl for the peppers I ordered when she told me it was extra and she hadn't charged me for them. I told her I asked for them when I placed my order. Then when I tell her that I want to pay for them, she asks what kind of peppers!?! (its a HOT DOG - I'm not asking for GIARDINERRE!) These high-rated reviews must be from the owners or something - seriously. Where do I begin? Customer service - they're insanely unprofessional and VERY slow when you do walk in the door. Had two employees argue with me over the toppings I had ordered - who argues with a customer? Especially a Jew who couldn't eat, and thus would never order, the topping they incorrectly had in the computer? Seriously... Building - it's whatever on the outside, but grotesque on the inside. I would give it about 3.5 stars, maybe 4 because of the banana splits and all the memories I have there. The pizza isn't so great as I remember, but they have a ton of other things too. I haven't really tried many things here recently though. I used to come here to get soft serve with my dad when I was little and once when I was sitting outside on the old white round concrete tables they used to have, a train came by and blew its horn making me drop my ice cream cone.
