The worker making our pizza was nice and she was helpful. Got 2 pizzas ordered and waited to order a beer and check out. Waited long enough that our pizzas cooked before we could order a beer. They were out of almost all the iPA selection except for my first beer selection that I ordered. Took a taste of it and it was flat so I gave it back. I went with the huckleberry seltzer which I've had before. Well I should have tried it before I walked to our table because it too was flat. The restaurant looks like it isn't as clean as it used to be and there was a broken table next to where you start your order. We've been here before and had a good experience but not sure if it was an off night or this the new normal at pizza press. For the money spent I would rather go to Finneys down the street as cost was about the same and the service there is better. Was my first time so wanted to Thank Nate for walking me through the creation of my amazing pizza & Daniel for being so fun & patient helping us pick our creamy Brew of choice for the night. Love LOVE how they serve the pizza on the little wooden pizza board . The place is great with a nice sense of character to the decorating , the staff is hands down a super cool staff . There was also another fella there I didn't get to ask for his name but he seemed to be a manager or owner , I'd like to thank him as well for making us feel welcomed . I do like the location of this place. Just north of the circle of Orange and south of Chapman University. Lots of shops and areas to walk around. Having said that, I was very unimpressed. The inside of the restaurant was dirty, with unswept floors. The bathroom had paper towels all over and no soap in the dispenser and was also dirty. They press their pizza dough very thin, give you a ladle of sauce of your choosing and then brush it on, put on a relatively small amount of cheese, allow you to choose your toppings which is nice, and then run it through a conveyor belt oven that cooks it in about 3 or 4 minutes. The result is a greasy, soggy pie with relatively little flavor. They do have a nice assortment of craft beers and some outdoor seating. I do not plan on coming back. read more

Weird cuz the screen said 14" Post was $14.95 ... hmm. We asked and he said $20 was correct. Weird, maybe fix your menu pricing then. The pizza was absolutely drenched in grease. Their whole system of keeping track of whose pizza is whose is wack. Last, and arguably worst is *SANITARY ISSUE!!! One of the guys walked over to his friend, ate a slice of pizza, licked his fingers and walked right back behind the counter without washing his hands. Absolutely.. disgusting. The Pizza Press is located in Old Towne Orange slightly north of the Orange Circle. My coworker and I decided to try something new so we ended up here. We got there at a good time because a long line formed almost immediately after we got there. I must say I love there witty puns throughout the menu on newspaper lingo. A lot of the specials are named after famous publications. In addition to a few of their specials, you can build your own pizza, or as they call it "Publish Your Own Pizza." My coworker got the Publish Your Own Pizza and the price is slightly under $10. They also have a New Deal ($5) for a half size pizza for smaller appetites. The prices are pretty comparable to other build your own pizza spots. I opt to get the New Deal COMBO ($9) which comes with the half slice pizza, a drink, and your choice of 3 wings, a side salad OR garlic bread. I chose the wings. The drink is a tiny kids-like cup for this combo deal. On my half pizza, I got the regular sauce with garlic and caramelized onions as the base with mozzarella cheese. They were out of perlini mozzarella cheese. Then I added pepperoni, chicken, bacon, artichoke hearts and basil. I personally felt like their selection of toppings were interior to Blaze and Pieology. The wings were a terrible choice on my part because my coworker saw them take some wings out of a bucket and throw it on the same conveyor belt as the pizzas. When my number was called and I came to pick up my pizza and wings, they asked me what sauce I wanted for the wings. Strange that they ask at the end. But basically they just throw some sauce on that stuff AFTER. The flavors are pretty lacking. Then to the pizzas. I would like to preface by saying my coworker is NOT A PICKY PERSON. He is super chill, and he was unimpressed by the pizza. It was mainly in their pizza dough where we felt it was lacking. The dough was missing a nice crunch on the exterior and it was soft to a gummy extent. The toppings were okay, but as I mentioned earlier less options than other build your own pizza spots. Given that Blaze is just a few walking steps south towards the Orange Circle, I think it is safe to say that we won't be back to The Pizza Press any time soon. read more

Came in on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The place had a modern vibe and feel, it definitely felt like a pizza place! Staff were friendly and were quick with my order. I ordered "The Sun" without pineapples (No, I don't mind pineapples on pizza, just in this case I didn't prefer it). The pizza itself was fine, I enjoyed it, but I was a tad underwhelmed to be honest. I thought the flavor would pack a little more punch. I would definitely come again, however. Decent pizza, cool concept. I ordered the white sauce pizza with chicken and the works (think it's The Harald) and in theory it's so good, but actual taste was just fine. Chicken wasn't flavored or anything, so it was definitely missing something. I wish I had asked for balsamic drizzle, but the place was so crowded and so understaffed, I felt bad taking up anymore time. Wings were good, we like that the pizza is thin crust, and my boys liked their kid pizzas too, that also come with a drink and a cookie. The drink options were extremely limited- the lemonade and soda machines were not working! We always get the Herold and the chronicle, and they both are EXCELLENT. This is my favorite pizza restaurant, the dough is not super thick or super thin, just perfect and it is always delicious and the staff is friendly. Pit fire pizza used to be my favorite but the crust is too thick and it is almost half of the pizza with barely any toppings and more expensive. We love pizza press! read more

Today (6/19/24) I ordered Pizza Press for lunch with my co-workers. I had asked my co-worker (who has an account on the app) to order me a side salad and the 6 wings. Seeing that on their website a side salad was 5.49 and the 6 wings for 9.99. Once my co-worker had placed the order I had asked him how much do I owe for both things. Come to find out that the apps prices are vastly different then their website as the wings were $15 and their side salad $9. When I recieved my wings and salad they absolutely did not match the pictures on the app nor their website. The wings had no sauce on them, no carrots, celery, nor ranch on the side as is described under its description. The side salad was in the tiniest container I had every seen. I spent $26 on this sad meal, and when I called about the price difference their answer to me was inflation and the app price is correct. Do not trust the website as it falsely claims cheaper prices then what they actually charge. I do not recommend ordering from here, take your business to Blaze at least their prices are exactly what they say and their wings don't look like trash for 15 bucks. read more

Luckily, we make our own as well. The pizza was OK if a bit sparse on quantity of toppings and the Garlic Cheesy Bread wasn't very "Garlic-y." Just stopped by to grab some pizza. The Initial service was great. However once my pizza came out of the oven and I was asked for additional toppings I asked for arugula. Instead of grabbing the arugula by hand and spreading it over the pizza the employee grabbed the entire bin and poured out the arugula along with a bunch of water that was in the bin over my pizza. My friend and I shared the Panther special where you get two pieces, and order of either cheesy garlic bread/or salad + 2 soft drinks for $24.95. With an upgrade of $3-4 bucks, my friend got a beer instead of a soft drink. We shared the following: -The Times: extra virgin olive oil, mozzarella, chicken, grape tomatoes, red onion, smoked gouda, finished with fresh cilantro + Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. This was really good, even though I am not typically a fan of sweet + savory. All the ingredients melded together, making for a unique flavor sensation with each bite. I liked it. -The Tribune: red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, red onion, mushroom, roasted red bell pepper, sweet Italian link sausage, Kalamata olives, ricotta + topped with pesto basil sauce. This was my favorite. It was so savory and I loved the addition of pesto basil sauce - it was the all-star team of my most favorite pizza toppings. It's very customizable here - you can add extra sauce/spices at the end. The paying situation is a little hectic because logically, most people wait for their pizzas before paying, but I do think you pay first, then wait for your pizza to finish. First off the salad was like a cheap pre packaged one you get from the store but even worse, it tasted awful and it wasn't even romaine lettuce it was spring mix??? The crust was so thin which is ok, but it was too soft and floppy, they don't put sauce on first, it had way too much cheese for thin crust. It was overall unsatisfying and a waste of money. I'm an out-of-towner here for business. Came for a pizza and wouldn't recommend it. I placed a pickup order and it turns out my order was wrong and I didn't find out until I got back to my hotel. I ordered the cauliflower crust, but I didn't get the cauliflower crust. I spoke with someone afterwards (call the number on the receipt and it says it's invalid) and the person said there are two different types of cauliflower crust: one is thick and the other is thinner and gluten-free. Also my pizza was missing pepperoni. This seemed like a regular crust to me. I also ordered a caprese salad and the chicken meat wasn't good (worse quality than canned chicken). The restaurant had a weird open-sewer smell by the cashier desk. Total spent was $34 on a pizza and salad I barely ate. This review is hard because the pizza is good (8/10). Their pizza is fresh and the cheese doesn't fall off. The prices are decent- $9 for a full personal build your own however you want. But the reason for the 1 star review is this facility is very unsanitary which is disappointing considering we're still in the middle of fighting a pandemic. I came in on Friday 6/12 and the 2 people working were eating in the corner watching movies on their laptops then one worker came to help us out without washing his hands (The tall, skinny guy with tattoos). He helped us all the way through and then we paid then he proceeded to cut/box our pizza + finishing touches (same gloves to handle money). Came again 6/14 at 8pm because my brother wanted to try it out and we experienced the same unsanitary way of working. This time was even worse than Friday because this same tall skinny guy with tattoos continued to work without ever washing his hands back/forth handing money, grabbed at (below the belt), and handling customer pizzas. I feel bad to call him out but he was the most unsanitary of them all. The other workers would also all handle money with the same gloves they prepared pizza with or washed their hands without soap. I'm not sure if they're just careless or maybe they think people aren't watching? I wish management would do better- I'm surprised the health department passed them :( read more
