    Seabass and lobster risotto
    Kat C.

This place was highly recommended by a staff member at the Sagamore and so glad we dined here. The fish was cooked to perfection and plated with delicious accompaniments hence the 5 stars. The manager or owner was super friendly and welcoming as were his staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was recently renovated and lends to a nice nautical theme right amid a mountain town.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My only recommendation is for silverware to be refreshed rather than asking diners to use the same as used for appetizers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would also invest in proper fish silverware. The chef does magic with the fish and the serving should not take away from it. I would return.

My appetizer of Lobster Bisque was on the watery side, not thick at all. It had equal amounts on minced lobster and minced bacon in it. Meh. I had the Chicken Cordon Blue special as my main. On the dry side. And the prices are very premium.

This is the most expensive restaurant we have been to. And worth every penny. It can be difficult to reserve a table for the time you would like. And very much worth the effort. It is simply the best. Our server, Amanda, was professional and knowledgeable and very friendly. The food was out of this world. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is comfortable and busy and loud and happy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We love it.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a beautiful restaurant and definitely the nicest in Bolton Landing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great atmosphere - they had a young lady singing live music with a guitar on Thursday night and the place was packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside and it was just lovely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were perfect and well made - I had the Aperol spritz and hubby had an old fashioned. Mine was light, refreshing and balanced. We then ordered a dozen raw oysters - they were tasty and sweet, but small. I had the Chilean sea bass which was served with a lobster risotto kind of thing and a pea sauce. It was cooked very nicely but needed a bit of salt, and it wasn't as hot as I would have liked - it was even slightly cold in the center. Hubby's ribeye steak was absolutely perfect, and their homemade steak sauce is sweet and savory and quite yummy. Mashed potatoes and veggies were perfect. Overall, a very lovely meal, and I would definitely return.

Lively place walking distance to Sagamore. We had the Calamari App $20, Shrimp cocktail $22 (3 colossal shrimp), bread $7. For entrees we had lobster Ravioli (north of $60), tuna $44, and ordered an off menu burger w bacon $25. The Bar in the other room looked really cozy and fun. Bar tender gave us a big hello as we walked in and out which was nice. The calamari app is mouth watering delish and a must with this fried cherry peppers and tasty dipping sauce. My personal option is bread should be included as charging $7 is like adding 2 dollars to each of our entree prices making them even more out of hand. The tuna entree was tasty with TONS and TONS of very fresh tuna @ $42 not unreasonable for a vacation town. I thought the lobster ravioli missed the mark being priced so high north of $60 for may 15 year old however prices nationally are so out of hand I don't necessarily blame them. My advice would be to skip it and try the salmon which is in the $42 range. I was very happy they let us order an off the menu burger for my ten year old or I would have cried if he ordered a $60 lobster ravioli. Burger was excellent. The hostess at the front door was a bit rude as we walking in which kind of set the mood for not the best evening. I sometimes wish people who will be snotty just not go into customer service positions and would instead go work in an office somewhere where they do not interact with people. The hostess should be delightful, cheeriy and helpful....not submissive and passive aggressive. This does not reflect on the owner who I hear is delightful. Overall excellent food but they may have to move from $$-$$$ to $$$-$$$$ now that prices are 1/3 higher than what is reflected in the menu in an old yelp photo I saw.

This has been the best restaurant I've experienced in the area in the last ten years of coming up for the Warrensburg Town Wide Garage Sale. My party tried to go to a place we've been before at Lake George without reservations and that was a no go. Everyone browsing the Glen Falls area I changed the search north and found here. Was able to make an evening reservation and even got in 15 minutes early. We all ordered what we wanted and raved the entire time how good the food is, they even have a good cup of coffee. Ignore the price, treat yourself to a delicious meal it's worth it.

    Beef tartare
    Karina A.

I would describe this place as quality gourmet food with a cute ambience. For starters I got the beef tartare and the clam chowder soup of the day. The beef tartare was definitely disappointing, but what made up for it was the hash brown underneath it. It was supposed to have some truffle sauce to it, but it tasted nothing like truffle. The beef tartare should've been minced a lot more as it was super chunky and there was no gooey texture usually when you crack an egg on it. I would not recommend getting that dish. The soup of the day was really good. It had a generous serving of lobster in it as well. It was not to creamy, and it was just right. For the entrée I got the Maine lobster ravioli. Now this was the main star of the meal. The pasta was so fresh it melted in your mouth. My favorite part was probably the prosciutto flakes as it gave a nice salty taste to the dish. Inside the ravioli was more lobster as I was surprised since they already gave half a lobster tail on top. The sauce was so good. I could've licked the plate if I wasn't in public. For dessert I got the crème brûlée I would not get this as the sugar was definitely too torched. Meaning that usually when you hit the top of it with your spoon lightly all of the sugar that is crystallize breaks really easily into 1 million chunks. However, this was so hard to break apart. I was literally stabbing it and trying to cut it with a spoon, so don't get that if you had crembrule before. Don't get me the wrong. The custard was good. It was just the crystallize sugar ruined it and that's usually is the best part for me.

We ordered the Arugula Roasted Beet salad. The arugula was super fresh and good, however, it overpowered the beets which were thin and underrepresented. We also enjoyed a shrimp cocktail which was very good. For mains we had the roasted duck breast and the braised short ribs. The duck breast was a bit more well done than we normally have preferred, but was delicious, tender and moist. The short ribs were melt-in-your mouth perfect. We both accompanied the mains with a glass of red wine (one of the Hout-Plaisance and one of the Pessac Leognan). For desert we tried the carrot cake and the peanut butter pie. The carrot cake was good but the peanut butter pie was heavenly. In all a very well prepared dinner. However, we expected more creativity from the chef compared to other meals we have enjoyed in the region. Pricing was on the high side.

So, I sauntered down Allens Alley towards the Chateau. Place was empty, except for the bartender. I announced I was here for Happy Hour, but was informed it's not really a Happy Hour, it's just that bar is open for business. Okay, I'll have a Heineken ($8). The poor service is factored into the score, but there's no reason to rehash every detail. We started with the mussels which were exceptional. The saucy broth they are served in is delicious. Unfortunately it's served with not nearly enough bread, and if you ask for more you will be charged (without being told). Our mains were a lobster roll and the steak salad. I am not a good judge of lobster, but it was "delicious." My steak salad did not arrive as ordered. The steak was overcooked (still tender, but certainly not medium-rare) and it was doused in dressing (which I had asked for on the side). The only reason to eat here is for the lake views. When the waiter came to check on how we were doing we let him know we were unhappy and he said he would get a manager, which he never did, and just brought the check. We asked for the manager to come over & he didn't apologize or offer a solution to rectify the situation he just kept saying "I hear you, I understand". Finally, when we asked him what was going to be done about the situation he said "I'll take half off of the bill", so we handed him the credit card with the original bill. He came back, gave us back our card and the new bill. The new bill did not have half taken off, it had half taken off of the two entrees we had an issue with. As we got up, the waiter came running over to say "we didn't run your card that's just the new bill". Overall, the food wasn't good but the service and management is what was worse. The manager was very dismissive and not helpful at all. I would steer clear of this restaurant at all costs !

The service also left a lot to be desired. Our waitress checked on us only once shortly after the food arrived. After that she essentially disappeared until it was time to hand the bill. Meanwhile, we watched her regularly check in on other tables. Both of our water glasses sat empty for quite a while, and no one came by to offer refills or see how everything was. Sadly, it ended up ruining what should have been a special evening. I began with the French onion soup. The menu described it as being served with a crouton, but what arrived was two large pieces of bread with only the thinnest drizzle of melted cheese. Anyone who enjoys classic French onion soup knows the hallmark of the dish is a generous blanket of bubbling cheese, with the bread hidden underneath. I politely mentioned this to our server, who took it back to the kitchen. What came back was astonishing. Instead of remaking the soup properly, the kitchen simply added two more pieces of bread--for a total of four slices--and again barely covered them with cheese. At that point I declined the manager's offer to make it a third time. After seeing what the kitchen considered an acceptable correction, I had completely lost confidence. For my entrée, I ordered the coconut shrimp and added the glazed spare ribs. Unfortunately, both were overwhelmed by an extremely sweet, thick, sticky glaze. The coconut shrimp themselves may have been very good had the sauce been served on the side so diners could decide how much to use. Instead, every bite was drenched in sweetness. The ribs had virtually the same heavy glaze, and even the green beans and carrots were swimming in a sweet sauce. The entire plate tasted like dessert rather than dinner. I barely touched it and simply had it boxed to take home so we could wash off the sauces ourselves. My husband ordered the bouillabaisse, which had the opposite problem--it was surprisingly bland and lacked the rich seafood flavor one expects from that classic dish. Rather than complain yet again, he also boxed it up so we could season it ourselves at home. By 8:30 on a Sunday evening we were still hungry and began searching for another restaurant, only to discover that most nearby kitchens were closing at 9:00. We ended up grabbing Chinese takeout just so we could have something to eat on our wedding anniversary. The evening became even more disappointing considering the cost. We ordered a $150 bottle of Cabernet, bringing our bill to approximately $300 before tip. Spending that amount for a celebratory dinner and then leaving hungry to find another meal elsewhere is not an experience I ever expected. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I generally give restaurants every opportunity to make things right. In this case, however, the problems extended well beyond a single dish. Between the mishandled soup, the excessively sweet entrées, the bland bouillabaisse, and ultimately having to find another dinner after spending hundreds of dollars, this was an anniversary dinner we will remember for all the wrong reasons. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because it has the potential to be much better than what we experienced.
