We read all the rave reviews and knew we had to try this place. It sure was crowded with lots of locals too. We waited for about 1/2 hour to be seated. This is the quintessential seafood shack. It reminds me of May places along the New England coast. Atmosphere is 5 stars and food 31/2 stars. The waitstaff were all super friendly and welcoming. We started with a classic New England Clam Chowder. It was rich and creamy with large chunks of potatoes and sizable pieces of clam. They were out of fresh lobster for the evening. I ordered a stack of seafood on an English Muffin (can't remember the name). It was a big wooden skewer plate of mostly fried seafood. I would have ordered differently if I realized it was fried. My favorite bites were the whole belly clams and the crab cake. The small pieces of lobster included were bland (to be fair they told us they didn't have any fresh whole lobsters) and the fried crab was mushy. It came with a side dish and I chose rice. rice. My husband's Cioppino had mussels, shrimp and clams with red sauce over pasta. He licked the plate clean. If I came back I would probably order a whole piece of broiled fish. They are attached to a fish market. It was hopping with customers doing takeout orders the whole time. The food is expensive but what isn't these days.

Back again and yes 5 Freaking Stars! Had the all you can eat fish fry with is crazy because they give you like 5 pieces and fries and I cant eat more than 3! Still a bargain. Clam Chowder again was awesome. EAT AT LOCALLY OWNED BUSINESSES!

I'm more attracted to non-fried food so the Grilled Haddock was right up my alley. This time I had that with the side order of baked beans and macaroni salad. Again I was not disappointed. My wife gave me the thumbs up on her food also. So I guess I did good. I read the review about the cleanliness. Let me say this, this place is clean. I'm sure they have food inspectors that come in and if it was not able to pass, it would not be open. On the other review which they gave one star, I don't know when this individual called in an order but must understand that you only have a certain amount of people working, trying to please their customers so you have to give them a break. Obviously they don't want to lose customers. If it is a certain time when people are calling in phone orders and coming inside for take out, things happen. Nobody is perfect unless you walk on water. I have been telling a lot of people about this place. Thank God I'm retired and can go there anytime I want. Now I don't have to make seafood at home anymore. The only thing I'll continue making at home is the baked Salmon. Going two days in a row, I guess I'm trying to make up lost time since he has opened up. I'm good with that for sure!

The haddock was absolutely amazing -- cooked perfectly and easily the star of the meal. The thin onion rings were really good too! Our waitress was wonderful, attentive, and made the experience even better. Tedie and I had a great time, really enjoyed our meal, and we'll definitely be coming back next year. A great local find!

I was dining alone and sat at the counter, where I could watch the team prepare each meal. You are essentially sitting right in the kitchen, with only the counter separating you from the chefs and staff. It made the entire experience much more interesting and gave me a real appreciation for the effort that goes into every dish. I started with the lumpia, which I loved. The sauce was absolutely delicious. For dinner, I had the scallops with gnocchi, and the food was excellent. My server, whom I believe was named Tristan, was also outstanding. He was always available when needed but never hovered. The service was perfectly balanced. I was there for a little over an hour, and not once did I see anyone in the kitchen standing around. It was a fast-paced, hardworking environment, and everyone was completely focused on preparing and serving the food. At most restaurants, all of this work happens behind closed doors. Being able to watch the preparation gave me an even greater appreciation for my meal and the people who made it. This is definitely a restaurant you should experience for yourself. I will absolutely be returning with friends.

Our waiter was super attentive and even though it took some time for the food to come out, I think given the quality of everything we ate, it was worth it. I got the raspberry mint mojito cocktail which was delicious and I pinched a sip or two of kid's lemonade made from fresh lemons, perfect level of sweetness. We tried the sweet potato pakoras and lumpia and the trio of house made dips (we liked the green mint-e one best). Everything was tasty, including the sauces that came up with them. Our kids shared the ramen which they split into two large bowls that didn't even look like a split dish given how much it was. My wife got the spare ribs which melted off the bones and had great flavor. The scallop dish I ordered came with six scallops that were a good size and also came with some gnocci, a delicious and unique sauce, and an unusual lobster with veggie type of ceviche salad accoutrement. I have the sense that the menu changes regularly here. The chef/owner came out and greeted us after the meal to ask how everything was and we could honestly respond that it was our best meal of the week. Subsequently we tried to sample many items from their desert menu and again Bastard did not disappoint. Surprisingly the "S'Mores," a more adult take on the kid's classic, was one of our favorites. Given the unique take on a variety of globally inspired dishes and great attention to detail, I would love to try Bastard again the next time I'm in the area.

We chose Morgan & Company to celebrate our wedding anniversary after I specifically requested a…read moregift certificate to dine there because I had been looking forward to the experience. Sadly, it ended up ruining what should have been a special evening. I began with the French onion soup. The menu described it as being served with a crouton, but what arrived was two large pieces of bread with only the thinnest drizzle of melted cheese. Anyone who enjoys classic French onion soup knows the hallmark of the dish is a generous blanket of bubbling cheese, with the bread hidden underneath. I politely mentioned this to our server, who took it back to the kitchen. What came back was astonishing. Instead of remaking the soup properly, the kitchen simply added two more pieces of bread--for a total of four slices--and again barely covered them with cheese. At that point I declined the manager's offer to make it a third time. After seeing what the kitchen considered an acceptable correction, I had completely lost confidence. For my entrée, I ordered the coconut shrimp and added the glazed spare ribs. Unfortunately, both were overwhelmed by an extremely sweet, thick, sticky glaze. The coconut shrimp themselves may have been very good had the sauce been served on the side so diners could decide how much to use. Instead, every bite was drenched in sweetness. The ribs had virtually the same heavy glaze, and even the green beans and carrots were swimming in a sweet sauce. The entire plate tasted like dessert rather than dinner. I barely touched it and simply had it boxed to take home so we could wash off the sauces ourselves. My husband ordered the bouillabaisse, which had the opposite problem--it was surprisingly bland and lacked the rich seafood flavor one expects from that classic dish. Rather than complain yet again, he also boxed it up so we could season it ourselves at home. By 8:30 on a Sunday evening we were still hungry and began searching for another restaurant, only to discover that most nearby kitchens were closing at 9:00. We ended up grabbing Chinese takeout just so we could have something to eat on our wedding anniversary. The evening became even more disappointing considering the cost. We ordered a $150 bottle of Cabernet, bringing our bill to approximately $300 before tip. Spending that amount for a celebratory dinner and then leaving hungry to find another meal elsewhere is not an experience I ever expected. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I generally give restaurants every opportunity to make things right. In this case, however, the problems extended well beyond a single dish. Between the mishandled soup, the excessively sweet entrées, the bland bouillabaisse, and ultimately having to find another dinner after spending hundreds of dollars, this was an anniversary dinner we will remember for all the wrong reasons. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because it has the potential to be much better than what we experienced.

The waiter was the worst aspect, though. I didn't even know he worked there when he approached me. He was dressed down more than a lot of homeless people I've seen. Well, at least we kept our word today when we ordered their two different bowls for takeout. My wife ordered the Fishbowl ($30) with the grilled fish of the day (salmon), cherry tomatoes, quinoa, feta, peaches, arugula, and basil lime vinaigrette (she said no to onions). She could not get over how tasty the quinoa tasted and wondered how they prepared it. She also thought the peaches could have been a little sweeter since we are in prime peach season. While the salmon was just slightly overcooked we'll attribute that to it continuing to cook as we drove the meals home. Even with those minor negatives, she said she would definitely order the dish again. I chose the Poke Bowl ($35) for my meal (my first ever poke bowl) with marinated raw tuna and salmon, edamame, cucumber, watermelon radish, snap peas, nori, avocado, sesame seeds, scallions, and pea tendrils, all over sushi rice with ginger gochugaru oil and soy sauce on the side. This was absolutely delicious. It was a wonderful blend of fresh flavors and textures. If I have another poke bowl somewhere else I only hope it can come close to measuring up to the enjoyment I experienced with this one.
