This place is cool. Really enjoyed my lunch with beers here on Sunday. Had a Boom Sauce and Fiddlehead. Not a lot of places have these beers on tap. I had a burger. It had an egg and hashbrowns and sautéed onions on it. It was good but the patty was a bit charred for my liking. The sweet potato fries were quite good. Stopped in after a long day of shopping. I was pleased with the menu variety and pleasantries from staff. It was a warm day and after driving by the patio I knew I wanted to sit outside. The manager directed my party and I to the park let under a shaded umbrella. After reviewing the menu I ordered a stout and lobster roll. The server helped my party and I decide on items. All requests arrived in a timely manner and the server and staff wore masks and were very friendly. At one point a kitchen member ran the food out and confirmed the order was correct. Pleasant Cafe is a great spot in the downtown Maynard area. They have a large indoor seating area for watching games, trivia, or just dinner and a drink. While their menu is not extensive, everything is well thought out and delicious. They also have seasonal changes to the menu and drinks so keep checking back for more! In the summer, they take over the sidewalk with outdoor seating that offers plenty of shade and seats to hang out with your friends. My only reason for docking a star is that their prices seem to keep going up for the same dishes. I know it's COVID times but it's enough to make me hesitate going too often. read more

So want to rate high a local spot but they either don't get it, don't care or both. Been three times in as many weeks; once at bar twice seated. The steak & cheese egg rolls are the best thing here. The beer menu is hopeful, but the prices are rampant and ridiculous! Why would I ever pay $11-12 for a Framingham single pour beer?! Insanity. Few beers at the $6-8 price point and even fewer above a C grade lite run. While the food prices are reasonable the time it takes to have an order taken and get it from the kitchen to the table - is in reasonably long and what's worse - no one seems to care. How do you leave 2 ~10 year old kids sitting for 40mins - 1 hour with no entree (and we're talking Hot Dog here, not beef bourguignon) ?!?! Charging 4-5x on beers doesn't mean you can take forever to get food to the table. We won't be back. Ever. read more

Not the old PC. Gone are the pitchers of beer, gone is the popcorn, pool tables, jukebox and dive bar vibe. Gone are the familiar faces behind and sitting at the bar, can't even get a domestic "regular" beer on tap. They have tried and may have succeeded at turning into a family eatery. Last few visits have found slow, inattentive and unfriendly service, with just average but over priced food. Not sure if we will spend more time and more of our money here. Had the pleasure of stopping at this hole in the wall establishment after some mountain biking this Saturday. Nestled in the quaint town of Maynard, this classy gastro pub features exposed brick, red on gold tin ceiling feature as well as real flowers and herbs accenting the perimeter of the adorable interior. The drunken chicken sandwich and cape cod reuben sandwiches are a must try here. Ordered the peanut butter brownie sandwich and the pina colada panna cotta deserts which were exceptional. We just had dinner at the Maynard location. I can't even begin to tell you the quality service and food. We had Charlie as a waitress and food for days to go home with because of their awesome portions. If your lucky you even get to score some of the amazing Cassie's baked goods. If you have a chance to spoil yourself with a night out this is the place to do it!! Frank keeps the grill fresh and food blasting with flavor and eclectic options! I'll admit it, the main reason we go here is THE POPCORN! Every so often one of us will say, "craving popcorn at the PC, let's go!) The old fashioned kind from the machine with oil and fake butter and salt and...mmmm. Often accompanied by a pitcher of beer ($10) and some sports on the tube. (Guess you can't really call it the tube anymore? No tubes in a flat screen tv! But I digress...) Couple of pool tables here, I believe they have pool and dart leagues. I'm very happy with the PC. We frequent this place when possible and ended up having my girlfriend's birthday party here one Saturday. They were INCREDIBLE hosts. Firstly, the Pleasant Cafe was one of the only places around the Maynard-Acton-Concord area that called/emailed me back when looking for a venue. Frank, the owner at there, got back to me quickly and was very helpful. We ended up reserving their large function room, for no cost. I was pleasantly surprised by this. The room had HD TV's, foosball, bar stools/tables, and dartboards. We were also told that we could bring in our food/cake, or order food from them. This was also very helpful. To top it off, they offered to have one of their beer vendors make a 'Happy Birthday' sign for us with her picture on it, again for free. I was just very impressed overall with all the PC did for us and how unbelievably helpful Frank was in getting back to me. Saturday's they usually have a DJ, as was the case this time. Their apps are really tasty, and the bar drinks are made well and are very affordable. You won't break the bank. As I said before, we frequented the PC before having my girlfriend's birthday party here, and we will continue to in the future. I'd definitely recommend the PC for either having your party or just stopping there for drinks. read more

The "wait staff" (all app-based ordering and payment, so not much waitering happening) was friendly enough, but the menu was small and the food was too salty and incredibly overpriced. I get that prices for everything are going up, but over $50 for a beer and two plates that are 75% fries is absurd. The sandwich my wife ordered came out as what most people would call half a sandwich. Room temperature cole slaw and ketchup provided in pouches didn't help our impressions. read more

This restaurant might have been the easiest 5 star review I have written. We just moved into the area and tried this place out for lunch. First off, the food and drinks were all absolutely delicious. I had a super fresh fried haddock with a side Caesar salad. Light fry and super tasty. The Caesar salad was fantastic. Fresh shaved Parmesan cheese on nice crisp lettuce. Had a wonder Vermont dipa and a refreshing German style Kolsch to wash it down. My wife had the chicken bourbon sandwich which was fantastic. I tried a few bites and we nearly had to fight for me to give it back. My 4 year old had the kids cheeseburger which was also delicious. The kids meal came with an apple juice, apple sauce and little cups of ice cream!! Now on to the great owner. We chatted with Frank the owner for quite a bit. He was so nice and accommodating. He gave us a little history of the place(it's been family owned since the 1930's). He paid a ton of attention to our daughter and spoke highly of his children as well and it showed. The menu and ordering is all done over your phone which was a tad tricky at first but then once you get the hang of it, it is super easy and convenient. Frank also took time out from his work to help us through the process. The friendly and warm atmosphere as well as the delicious food and great service has made us repeat customers guaranteed. read more

We made a recent pilgrimage back to the "PC" and were pleasantly surprised with what we experienced. THE GOOD We arrived after 9pm on a Thursday night and the kitchen was still serving the full menu. Major points there, we were still hungry. My wife and I both ordered salads with protein - one grilled chicken, one crispy chicken. Both salads were extremely well prepared and presented and tasted on-point. Definitely an item I would order again. We were also delighted that many menu items have been re-priced. The salads, for example, was $9 and was very generously proportioned as a dinner salad. To add the protein was another $4. Other dishes on the menu were also reasonable. THE GOOD Service, as usual, was prompt and friendly. Drinks were refilled rapidly multiple times. THE GOOD We are looking forward to going back and trying other new and newly priced menu items soon. THE VERY GOOD Ownership recently reached out to me with a very thoughtful note inviting my family back and wanting to win us back as customers. We want the PC -- and all local businesses -- to be super successful and of course we will take him up on it. LESS GOOD Super noisy on the night we were there. My wife and I really like this place. The employees are always friendly, and they have a good beer selection with rotating drafts. The Stump Trivia is also pretty good on Tuesday nights. Thier outdoor patio is nice and quiet. We have had a few small problems that have left us hesitant to keep coming back (but we still do). The music from the speakers is often pretty loud for the size of the space, and the heating and cooling is sometimes way off (cold when it should be warm and vice versa). The food is pretty good, sometimes the execution could be a little better, and I'm often craving more vegetable offerings (steamed/sauteed options as sides or with dishes). Thier salads also leave something to be desired. The beer and the people will keep us coming back, but we can hope that they polish up some of thier dishes a little bit more. read more
