Arrived at 6:00 finally got food at 7:50. Service absolutely horrible. They were 5 people in our party. We ordered 2 pizzas, 1calzone , and a fish and chips. Pizzas were horrible burnt on the bottom and raw dough on top. Calzone had nothing for a filling and the fish and chips were ok. The bill was $142 Only one person had 2 drinks. I wish we could give this a 5 star as we keep going back to support local places. Service by our waitress her (first day) was amazing. Food was uneatable.Maybe a bad day? I really couldn't tell you. But, the cook/manager was offended when we tried to explain our concerns. We tried to pay the check. And she just kept getting angrier with our action. Trying to explain our concerns but understand short staffing and such. But, nothing seem to change with her by now. So we decided to give the waitress the tip that we should of spent on the meal ticket (family of 4) Hopefully they can resolve this problem. But so far for the last 3 years this restaurant can't seem to make it happen! Maybe should focus on serving the public and the needs. Not another fancy dining experience. It's off the lake. This could be an amazing place if it was ever open. If you google their hours to see if this restaurant is open, you will get completely wrong information. Their Facebook page has incorrect information as well. On a holiday weekend they posted hours open for breakfast...Wrong. We drove up expecting a great view of the lake and possibly some great breakfast choices, only to drive up to a closed restaurant and employee parking lot. What a huge disappointment! With such limited places in Shaver, if this place was open as advertised it could be a gold mine. Too bad it is so mismanaged. read more

One of the worst experiences. I felt sorry for the staff. They were young and inexperienced. I don't believe they had any training. It appeared they were thrown in without any guidance or supervision. Other tables around us as they were leaving advising us the food and service was awful. Ambiance is on point. Great looking lodge with a great deck. Wish I could review the food... or the drinks... We had a reservation but it took 10 minutes for anyone to notice us at the host stand. The place was at a little less than half capacity. As we were being seated we were warned that the kitchen was behind and food may take a while. We said that was fine and did get water and menus as we were seated. No one came back to take our drink order let alone our food order for over 30 minutes. I understand a backed up kitchen and that delivery of the food may take a while but that has nothing to do with the waitress's ability to take a drink order. If you are charging $38 bucks for spaghetti and meatballs your service should match. If your kitchen is backed up, at least take my drink money! We got food to go at another establishment in town and ate it on the rocks by the lake. Until they up their game I would recommend the same. read more

The first time here, my food and drink were great. I had a burger and bloody mary. I have been to The Point twice since then, and both times I pretty much wasted $80 on lackluster food and a gross margarita. You are paying to sit down and have a view of the lake at this place. read more

Emma and Dayle were phenomenal in helping us out. The Salmon and the top sirloin steak were absolutely amazing. I can't recommend this place enough everyone was so sweet and they had a pianist with the most gorgeous voice playing during our dinner. The view of the lake wasn't too bad either but it really is second place to the amazing service and food here. read more

Celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary at The Point with lakefront dinning. Amazing atmosphere, food, drinks and service. I will definitely be ordering the Shaver Splash cocktail again. The t-bone steak was cooked to "medium rare" perfection, along with terrific vegetables and truffle mashed potatoes. My husband is VERY picky about a good, quality steak and he could not stop raving about it. Oh! And the wedge salad, tomato basil bisque soup and rolls with maple butter were to die for! Also loved the baked chicken with penne pasta....plus had a ton left to take home, so we get to enjoy it again! Was surprised with a delish dessert to help us celebrate 22 years! Horrible service, very rude owners and managers It was a little sad their employees didn't have anything good to say about the owners or managers. We left because they were short handed and they said they couldn't serve any drinks on the drink menu. The live band was way too loud and inside so we wanted to go outside but were told there was no service outside. We were polite and decided to leave before we ordered anything. The family that owns the place has 3 restaurants in Shaver The Point, The Trading Post and The Saw Mill and they all offer the same rudeness and unprofessionalism. It's obvious none of them know anything about the restaurant industry or service and its hard to believe they are still in business . This summer our trip to The Point was anything but disappointing! The view alone is worth the trip, the lake is visible from any table and watching the sunset with our meal was priceless. We loved our server who was whity and quick to please. The Point went above and beyond to accommodate every single one of our requests, no matter how much it inconvenienced them. We had a party of 5 and made reservations for a Saturday night at 7. We had a very bad/busy day beforehand, and they were able to push back our reservation when we called. Then, they re-seated us when we wanted to sit outside and they had to wipe down the table and seats because it had just been raining. Then they gave us several servings of extra bread because we were starving. Then they let us order another entree after all the others were put in. There was live music with a very talented pianist and vocalist which added to the amazing ambiance of sunset dinner on the lake. We ordered the T-bone steak, the salmon, the chicken penne and 2 charbroiled steaks. The food came out promptly, was cooked to perfection and was delicious, especially the bread and whipped maple butter, which paired well with everything, but lets be honest, we could have eaten that butter with a spoon. :) but the real star of the night was our waiter Emma, with some assistance from Dayle. Together they ensured that we wanted for nothing, and were so kind to us. My family has been a part of the Shaver Lake community for 3 generations, and have always enjoyed dinner at The Point, but this stands out as one of the best ever. I cannot say enough about how amazing the staff and management was at The Point and Trading Post this weekend. We had a rehearsal dinner for our sons wedding their and they catered the wedding. Everyone raved about the food! Tri tip was tender and well seasoned, chicken amazing flavor, veggies, pilaf and salad delicious! They were absolutely amazing! We had wanted to come for dinner after a day on the lake, but due to issues we wouldn't make it. We called to tell them and they were so accommodating, helping us to reschedule. When we arrived, we were treated to live music that was fantastic, but we had been hoping for a patio seat. Unfortunately, a storm had come through earlier, leaving all the tables out there soaked. Emma - our wonderful server - didn't even hesitate to clean up a table for us, trying to make our experience as great as possible. She continued to provide outstanding service, helping us with anything and everything we could possibly need, no matter how difficult we made things for her. Whenever Emma wasn't able to personally help us because she was giving other tables assistance, Dayle was always willing to lend us a hand with a bright smile! They made the experience delightful! On top of all of that, the food was excellent! The maple butter was out of this world, and paired amazingly with everything (Trust me, we checked)! We came here for lunch after a day of fishing. My son ordered a cheese burger with fries, I asked the waitress for the wedge salad with grilled chicken on the side. She said it would be easier to just order the chicken salad and do it wedge style, so I got that. My husband ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich and a salad. when our food came out, it looked great. When I went to bite into the chicken breast, it was cold and SOOOO DRY, I could barley swallow the bite. I had my husband taste it and he agreed. My sons fries were cold and the burger "the owner said I had to try" was below average. The owner came over to check on us and I explained all this too her and she said "oh, well we refrigerate the chicken after we cook it, maybe I can tell them to not get it so cold." I was shocked. Not an apology and an offer of an alternative, or for my meal to be discounted (considering the chicken was not edible...,nothing!!!) she just walked away. When the waitress came over to check on us she asked how everything was and I told her the same thing that I had told the owner and she didn't care. She was like, "oh, well Im sorry" and then asked if we were ready for the check and we said yes. The waitress came back to our table and asked for our card, without even giving us our check, my husband paid and we left. So basically $100 wasted on a horrible meal and experience. My advice, go somewhere else, it's not worth it. read more
