We frequently come up to Shaver from Fresno and every time that we do come up we always look forward to having a wonderful meal at the Hungry Hut. We always order the same and in the the past it it has always been wonderfully delicious 5 star experience. However, yesterday was the first time that we all have felt very disappointed with our burgers. We ordered two veggie burgers and one bacon cheeseburger. The veggie burgers barely had any vegetables to speak of, just one very thin, barely noticeable piece of lettuce, and thinly sliced tomato, which were both tucked under the veggie patty. The bacon cheeseburger that our friend always orders had only one strip of bacon and also a very sparse & barely noticeable piece of lettuce and tomato as well. We expected so much more, and for them to be as wonderfully crafted and delicious as they have always been in the past, but sadly that was not our experience yesterday. We had lunch here on a Sunday a few weeks ago. We got there around 11:30, so we were able to beat the lunch rush slightly. This place gets very busy. The food here was decent, pretty standard burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries and onion rings, etc. The real draw here are the milkshakes. The milkshakes here are insanely good. Had the pleasure of taking a nice drive upto Shaver Lake and found this hidden gem restaurant. The menu is awesome and the food was delicious. This is a very budget friendly for a family the food was excellent and full of great flavor. The burgers, drinks and side items are of a generous portions. The service was super the atmosphere is very very friendly. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained not to mention the location is beautiful. Love this place! It's a solid little local burger stop that we've been stopping by for years when in the area. The workers are nice and there is limited seating but you can't beat the view when do find a spot. This last visit was great after spending the morning playing in the snow , the lady that took our order was super helpful and sweet. We got a kids cheese burger meal with the works $9.99 ( comes with fries and a capri sun) and a lil hot dog meal $7.25( comes with fries and capri sun), plus we had to get some yummy onion rings $6.75. This is a great place in the mountains to come get a burger and fries and just take in the beautiful views and breathe fresh mountain air ( as well as burgers being cooked to perfection.) They are popular so there might be a wait, but remember you are relaxing and it's ok to hang out. They do have a beer garden if you wish to partake in that. Since I no longer drink let me tell you the highlights. The Boysenberry shake is absolutely amazing! And pair it with onion rings or fries or both and you will not remember where you are for a while. Of course add in any burger ( because they are all good.) or a hot dog or even a fried chicken sandwich, and you will have a great story to tell when you get home. Okay so these yummy fries were lightly seasoned, completely crisp on the outside and warm, with great texture on the inside. We were searching for every last piece, and wanted more! It's also fantastic that the kid's meals come with fries and a juice included. When ordering, it was great, we told them it was our first time and we joked around around a bit- really spot on customer service. Service was fairly quick, despite overhearing that they were training new staff. I ordered the Hut Burger and added lettuce and tomatoes and it was good. The fries were seasoned and crispy. So we stopped for burgers after our magical mushroom hunt in the forest. Hungry hutch did not disappoint after all these years! Burgers were thick and juicy at 1/3 pound. Charbroiled, we requested grilled onions and those were toasty too. My friends were impressed. Best burger! One of us had a limited appetite and chose the children's menu burger. Good sized and served plain so be sure to request lettuce, tomato what have you. The combo fries were a mixture of onion rings and fries. Great choice when you want to taste both. The fries are thin cut and tossed with a tasty seasoning salt. Yum! The onion rings were well done with a cornmeal type batter, not greasy and nice and crisp. We had soft cone ice cream for dessert.
