Super good! Went for lunch with some coworkers. It's a small place with a few tables against the wall, but super clean aesthetic and very friendly staff. You have lots of options and they make your bowl as you go down the counter line. I opted for spicy tuna and salmon on rice -- you get your choice of white, brown, or spring mix as the base for your bowl. Next, add your choice of veggies -- cucumbers, radishes, corn, cilantro, green onions, sweet onions, masago, edamame, and much more! Then, you pick a sauce and they toss everything together to top the rice. I opted for house shoyu and ginger aioli on the side. You can add avocado, seaweed salad and a few other things for a small up charge, and the final step is picking some "textures" and oils. I got sesame seeds and crispy garlic, with sesame oil and chili oil. I've been similar places, but this one has the best selection of toppings and awesome friendly staff. 4.5 The stars don't lie. It's so odd (and a little bit first-world frustrating) that after missing out on a trend for as long as Middle Tennessee did, the area is now inundated with poke spots. It's sorta crazy. But, for poke enthusiasts or those new to the food, bottom's up! I haven't been to every poke place in the area but The Poki impresses on many levels. First things first, there's parking. This small strip has been known for The Perch for a while but it's also known for busy Franklin Road traffic. No worries. There's parking. Once you walk inside, you'll notice that the decor is fairly sparse. I appreciated that. Some places just do too much and it takes away from the dining experience. The guys behind The Poki know their product stands (high) on its own, so no need for distraction. The attractive woodwork of the counter will draw your eye but then your gaze will be directed at what's behind the counter. There's a good number of available tables but this isn't a table service restaurant. Get in. Study the menu. Order. Wait for food. Pay. Sit. Easy, right? Right. You can choose from either a set menu or you can make your own. Since I have a problematic gut, when going between a set menu or choose-your-own-adventure, I go with choice 2. Soy sauce tends to be in a lot of stuff and it's tricky, so I have to go rogue. Luckily for me, the proteins (save one) are gluten-free. A regular bowl (my order) allows for 1.5 scoops of rice (I chose brown) and *three* scoops of protein. You can switch it up or go for three of the same. I ordered the tuna, salmon and yellowtail. Now, here's where things get crazy. You can order your fill of mix-ins: no limits. Believe it. Being the flavorologist I am, I loaded my bowl with tobiko, masago, sweet onion, green onion, cilantro, jalapeno, watermelon radish, and cucumber. All of that got mixed with gluten-free shoyu and, then, was topped with sesame seeds, nori and sesame oil. Ridiculous. I grabbed a drink from the nearby cooler, paid, sat down, and started mixing everything together. By my first chopstick-full, I was hooked. The freshness came through with every bite, but the blend of texture and flavor was what bowled me over. I kid you not when I say that every bite was a pleasure. And, at $12, the bowl was very reasonable and much more affordable than many other competitors. One of the owners, Kelvin, not only made my food but stopped by to see how I enjoyed it. He's a nice guy and his good energy is infectious. I want him to succeed and if the first few weeks of The Poki are any indication, he's going to do very well. The Poki is off to a great start. Poke may have come to Middle Tennessee years late but it's here and it's fan-freaking-tastic. Brentwood, you got a good one! read more

Let me start by saying that I have frequented lace for a few years now. I have seen so many changes as of late. Initially the ingredients were well stocked with the exception of the brussel sprouts. They generally ran out by noon m-f and didn't serve them on the weekend. Over the course of 2022-23 I don't know what's happened but it seems as though they don't care about keeping ingredients replenished. I've gone twice in one week and they are out of some basic things like spring mix and mango. One employee said mangos are expensive so we're out of them . I went back two days later they are still out and offer no accommodations just told me that's just how it is in restaurant business. Never in my life will I understand why someone doesn't hold someone accountable to make sure they have what they have been most known for to do business. If I had a customer that repeatedly asked for ingredients you can best believe I'd be making sure our ingredients remain stocked and fresh. This place just doesn't feel like they really care about the customers being happy. I think I'll be looking for another place to have Poki. read more

Nashville peeps, you found a new favorite spot!!! Although I'm biased because I was a painter of the mural at the Poki, here are three things that set The Poki outstanding, in my opinion. The sauce, the oil, and the freshness. The sauce is excellent. The owner/chef spent humongous amount of time creating the sauces that have both variety and uniqueness. Maybe that's the best thing about the Poki bowl. You can't go wrong with Korean Gochujang, House Shoju or Truffle. Oil comes in 6 selections from truffle, sesame, to our familiar extra virgin. All ingredients are made fresh daily, especially the sashimi. The ordering process is simple. Wish they have customer loyalty program but I heard it's coming. A small, unassuming shop right off I-65, it is humble but serves up some seriously awesome poke bowls. What is poke you ask? It's a Hawaiian-style mixture of sushi-grade fish and sauce/toppings over rice. When done well it has that amazing "umami" that I look for in a dish with great flavor and quality ingredients. The difference lies in the detail. The amount of toppings they had blew my mind. I did a small build-your-own bowl with a mixture of ahi tuna and salmon. The very kind employee was patient explaining all the different sauces and topping options and made recommendations based on what flavors I told her I liked. The end result was satisfying and I think for $12 it was a good value too. Ever since I tried The Poki I've been itching to come back. When I walked in, the employee behind the counter asked if I'd ever been in before. When I said I hadn't, she suggested that I make my own bowl. It was a lot of choices to make: regular or large; white rice, brown rice, or greens; several protein options: tuna, salmon, spicy tuna, chicken, tofu, etc.; LOTS of toppings (I went with green onions, breakfast radish, edamame, seaweed, fried shallots); several sauces. But I was impressed by the variety of options, and everything tasted great! It was fresh and light and very tasty!
