I've had issues with timely service; it's not okay for me to pay for quarterly service when a quarter is 5.5 months. I previously asked if they could let me know if they cannot show every 4 months. I hate to leave a bad review but I don't want others to deal with the same hassle we had to. Unfortunately we had to cancel services with them because they repeatedly would not show up for the weekly maintenance they were charging us for. I knew it had been happening over the course of several years now but things were busy and I only finally got around to terminating them. When I mentioned that we were canceling and pointed out there were 2 recent missed services (not to mention many others), one of the brothers told me it was because one of them was sick but they always have someone to cover while one is out. If that was the case then where was his cover while he was sick? We have security cameras, we know for a fact no one was covering for him. They also mention they don't perform services on certain holidays, but this was not a holiday. If there were missed services and they told us about it that's one thing. But to repeatedly not show up and not say anything to us is very unprofessional. On top of that, rather than offering to give us a refund for the past couple times they didn't show up, they expected us to pay for the full month. I didn't argue because I don't have time to deal with them and wanted to be done with this. To make it worse, they didn't prorate for the appropriate final billing period. They wanted us to pay for the full month even though they only provided services for part of the month. Why should we have to pay for the full period? It's already bad enough that they expect us to pay anything for the period they didn't even show up. They have very unethical business practices. I don't mind paying more if a quality service is performed. But you can't charge people for a service you are not performing. If they are unable to perform the services they are charging their customers for, then they should be transparent about it and stop taking on new customers. Either that or drop existing customers who, like us, didn't say anything for a long time even though we knew they weren't showing up and doing their job. read more

Dave and son Brad are the best! We've used their services for years and have always had a perfectly clear pool for a very fair price. Two summers ago I decided to take care of my pool on my own and over the winter I let it turn into a swamp. Like straight up green, frogs, bugs, swamp. I sheepishly called Dave in the spring to ask if he'd take us back and get our pool party ready in a relatively short period of time. Dave and Brad were able to put together a treatment plan for the pool that both worked for our budget and our timeframe and we were ready to start hosting parties by Memorial Day long weekend! They stuck to the quote initially provided and kept us aware of charges outside of their control, such as the electrical charges when running your filter 24 hours a day when cleaning up a nasty pool. Since then we've gone back to weekly chemical service and my pool has never looked better AND I'm spending less money than when I was attempting to do the chemicals myself. They are great communicators and are a text/call/email away whenever I have a problem. I don't understand the other 1 star reviews. Dave has been nothing but awesome! My pool looks gorgeous. I had an algae issue and he fixed it. It started to come back and he came back out and treated the pool again. He is responsive and realiable. He has even fixed things that I have broken on my own. Their prices are reasonable and they clean my filters on a quarterly basis. For the gal who said her PG&E bill was $700 - that's highly unlikely due to a pool filter running. I run mine a ton during the warm months (keep water ciculating and enjoy the fountain) and even with that and running my AC, my bill for my giant house has never gone over $350. I'm very surprised to see some of the 1 star reviews, that's not been my experience working with The Pool Managers and Dave. We've been with them for 2 years now. We bought a home with a pool (We've never had a pool before) and found out that Dave was the pool guy for the previous owners. We signed them up and everything has been great. We had only 1 instance of a green pool (At that time, we didn't know you had to shock the pool if you have multiple pool parties in a short amount of time) and Dave was great in getting our pool back in action with multiple shocks and upkeep. He's been great in making adjustments to our variable speed pump and solar controller and making repairs to our pool vacuum. He will even install a loaner vacuum until he can get the original one repaired (Only charges for parts). The price is fair and he comes once a week. So as a past customer for over 2 years, I appreciate his work and gladly to continue on as a customer. read more

I was very disappointed with the Pool Managers. When we started with them we had an amazing service technician, however he left after a year or so. He was not allowed to continue with his clients for at least 6 months, so we just stayed with the Pool Managers. That's when we started experiencing problems with cloudy water and algae. I will say that they did respond when we called, however they didn't not come again until the regular service day, so the problem got worse. If we called the day after the service, we had to wait another 6 days for our problem to be addressed. We decided to go with another pool service, and they found that the salt levels were extremely low, the filters were extremely dirty and needed to be replaced, and filters that should have been cleaned were packed with debris! When I said that I would be leaving a negative review on Yelp, they accused me of extortion!! Seriously, extortion? What kind of management is this? My final bill was $107 dollars, and it had cost me more than that to get my pool balanced, so I was not going to pay them. However, it isn't worth my time to argue with them, so I'll be paying it. I signed up with the pool managers several months ago. For a monthly fee they were to come out and clean my pool filter four times a year. In just a few short months they managed to misquote tile cleaning and repair that they subcontracted out to someone else costing over double the quoted price and left the job incomplete, turn off the chlorination switch on the pool controller so that I came back from vacation to an algae filled pool, and finally, broke nine of the 11 DE filters in my unit. Unfortunately this company failed to meet the basic needs of running a pool. I was just looking for once a month chem service to help keep my salt water pool in check for the summer. So Dave, the pool owner and his son came out about a month ago, beginning of April. They changed my filters out with someone else's filters, apparently a new service. I'm still not sure that's the most sanitary way, but I agreed this one time. I was told my pool was fine and no chemicals were needed at that time. Next, Dave asked if he could adjust my pool filter to run a few more hours a day since we are moving into warmer weather. Naturally I agreed, because hey this is a professional pool company, and they are supposed to be the experts right? So, into the 3rd week of pool pump/filter being adjusted, I noticed it running excessively, and I only noticed it because I home from work that week. I had to turn it off several times throughout the day. I confirmed with Dave that he would be out that week as well for the monthly Chem check and to adjust the pool filter/pump. Well, the next day I received my Pge bill and I was blown away at my bill, $700 !!!! Now mind you I didn't run the heater or AC last month, and realized it was the pool pump/filter. Previous months bill was only $200 and that was running the heater often during cold days. When Dave got to my house I shared the bad news with him. His first reaction was something is wrong with my pool filter/pump, maybe it's wired wrong. Unbelievable, he also stated he would have to charge me to call Pentair, manufacturer of the pump to fix it. Now mind you I've had NO issues with my pool pump since the pool was built in 2011. Dave was very unfamiliar with this 2 speed system, and he asked several times if this a salt water pump, because I have a salt water pool. Well of course it is! I had to remind Dave twice this was a salt water pool. I am now stuck with Dave's adjustments until I call Pentair or hire yet another person to undo what Dave did. I'm very disappointed in his response and lack of knowledge. Dave should have NEVER touched my pool pump/filter or made any adjustments do to his lack of knowledge on salt water pools and my pool pump/filter. It's just so unacceptable that I am left stuck with a $700 Pge bill, and a pool pump/filter I have to get fixed. read more

I've used their service for several years and they have always done a wonderful job keeping my pool in working order and wonderfully clean. My waterfall stopped working a few weeks ago. I texted Dave and asked him to look at it. My equipment is older and he speculated I might need a new pump but promised to check it out on his next visit. I was preparing myself for a huge expense. But when he looked at it he found that the water was low in the pump, so it wasn't 'primed' and so it wasn't working. He added water to it and now it's working great. Cost $0. He could have easily told me I needed a new pump. However, that isn't who he is. I bought a groupon for pool services to get my pool clean for my daughters pool party. They said it would take $300 to get it clear. For my daughter, I went ahead and spent $300 and yes it was crystal clear for the party. Quickly thereafter it was green once again. Weeks go by, still green and then I get a bill for $150. They tell my husband it is there annual package and they forgot to tell us. These guys are a rip off. Unauthorized charges, green pool and terrible communication.
