I took my family here on a Sunday night around 5pm. It wasn't busy at all, which was great for a newer restaurant. We got sat right away. We had a party of 5; my wife, 3 kids and myself. Atmosphere was good, definitely more of a sports bar feel, which the kids didn't mind. Plenty of TVs. Now the reason for the 1 star. We got sat at a booth near the back (like I said, the place was not very busy), then we sat there for 15mins with 3 kids before our waitress came over. We got up and left since the kids were thirsty and hungry and we were not planning on waiting to see how long it would take for drinks and food. Pretty disappointed. 15 mins is way too long to wait without kids, but especially with kids it was way too long. read more

Definitely loved this place. They seemed understaffed, but I think they did well with it. Our server was entertaining, polite, and had good timing. I got the shrimp salad, and I have zero regrets! It was delicious and perfect. A good portion with fresh ingredients. My boyfriend got the French dip burger with sweet potato fries. He loved it, and those fries are fire! If The Porch were in a band, it would play the mediocre maracas. Or maybe the failing flute. We ordered the waffle tenders - supposed to be like chicken and waffles? - for an appetizer and the Border Bowl with Chicken Tinga and the BBQ salmon for the main course. The border bowl included flavorless guacamole out of a bag . The salmon was bland and dry when I specifically asked for it to be more on the raw side. Worst service I've ever experienced. The third, and LAST time, I'll ever patronize this establishment. Security was removing chairs from our table before we even paid for our bill to make room for a dance floor? That's fine. But don't disrespect the customers that patronized you before you were ready to draw in the young crowd. Only giving a star because I'm required too!! Besides that, we were there for 20 minutes before we even got water. Our food came and we hadn't even got our drinks yet. We got the bill and there were drinks on it that we didn't even order. We were overcharged $19. At that point, I just couldn't wait to leave. Came in for a late lunch. Great setting playing great music. Sat at the bar even though there were many open tables. The restaurant is fairly large. Was quickly greeted by the bartender who served us our beers with water. The menu is not huge which is what I like and I ordered the Mac n cheese with green chili and my GF ordered a large pretzel. Came with 4 people at 9pm just for a drink. It seems they are ironing out their house drink menu. The Porch Paloma taste nothing like a Paloma. Gawd awful!! The Fig Mule has much to be desired. The Tequila Mule taste like dirt. They should get pointers from Culinary Drop Out. Much better drinks there. The low lighting makes me yawn. Got stuck at a table that is fit for dwarfs. They seriously need to toss these tables replace them with high tops that surround it. The music is very random. The rotation needs work. Hopefully these things get better over time. We have been to The Porch in Tempe several times and figured we would try the new one in Gilbert to celebrate our son's birthday. We were very impressed with the decor; simple and elegant. The place is huge and the atmosphere is just fun...there is an enjoyable energy. There were a fair amount of people there for Monday afternoon, but we felt like we were the only people there. Everyone was very attentive, from the hostess to the server and even the chef waved from the kitchen. It is a place we will definitely make the drive from Casa Grande for again. read more

Won't ever go back. I took the family here for my daughters Birthday. Everything was alright until my wife orders the Tacos. They come with queso fresco or cotija. She puts the cheese on the tacos before realizing it's spoiled. The waitress takes it back to talk to the chef or manager. She comes back and says that's the way the cheese is supposed to taste and smell. We don't like confrontation so my wife has to scrape off the cheese crumbles to eat her tacos. The annoying thing is that the cheese was very obviously bad. There is no maybe it's bad, maybe it's not in this situation. I'm not a cook but I know what cheese is supposed to taste like, even the bitter bleu cheese types. When the cheese is so bitter it is inedible and it smells like dirty gym socks, it's no good. I wonder how many people they served that spoilt milk tasting garbage to before they threw it out. At any rate, hope they do better with other customers, not me though, ever again. read more

We sat down, got our drinks ordered immediately. Server had a super bitchy attitude. 10 minutes later, still no drinks? Server comes back and finally decided to tell us "we're out of that". My friends and I came here for brunch last weekend. I thought the atmosphere was great, love the DJ, though the music was a bit loud so it was hard to hear people from further down our table. I ordered a jungle juice which I really enjoyed. Another friend ordered the same drink, but for some reason her drink was a completely different color than mine so I'm not sure which one was made correctly. I ordered the brekkie sandwich which was good, if not a little messy. My friends also really enjoyed their food, and there are definitely items I'd want to try on a future visit. The main thing stopping me from giving 5 stars was the service. Our server only checked on us a couple times, half our table was served food while the others waited about 5 minutes for ours. Some of the drinks are also slightly pricy for the amount you get for them in my opinion, such as the coco puffs drink. However, we will be back! read more

The lady who sat us was extremely rude (with long hair and bangs) and was upset with us asking to switch tables despite having two children.
