Buyer beware. I brought my daughter and her bestie here for lunch for the first time. The place was not busy what so ever so I thought service would be exceptional. Boy was I wrong. We chose to sit on the patio and were sat without a menu or silverware. Our waitress arrived with water and asked if we wanted other drinks. The girls ordered ice tea and when the waitress returned with drinks in hand, my daughter had to ask for sugar which seemed to confuse our waitress. I than asked about a menu at which point the waitress explained we would have to pull up their website to view the menu. All three of us chose to order the Wednesday lunch special but according to our waitress, we must be sitting at the bar to take advantage of the lunch specials, mind you no where was this explained on their website. We ended up paying for the ice tea and leaving. Very disappointed in the staffs lack of communication and service and have no intentions of returning. As a former waitress, I suggest management do a better job at training their staff. read more

Great place, great potential, excellent customer service! Hannah was a great server! Very attentive and on top of the needs and expectations of her tables! The rest of the staff seem to all work together well and pay attention to all the tables seated and not just their own. Over all this place is very well done, I would recommend friends to come here as well as come back myself. As with any new restaurant/bar there is always room for improvement. They seem to be on the right track to making this place perfect. Unique food items that you most likely won't find anywhere else. As well as things that you can find anywhere but done really well. Stopped in for Sunday Brunch- this was my 2nd trip to The Porch! My first experience was amazing.. champagne and apps for a girlfriend's birthday. Friday nights are lively with a solid atmosphere. Brunch is definitely more chill. Always offer complimentary valet parking. $15 bottles of brut, rose or prosecco. If you plan on having more than one drink (most beverages avg $10), go for the bottle! I went with the bartenders suggestion of chicken tenders and sweet potato fries $12. They were good, but I am excited to get back and try the Brunch Burger $14. My date and I walked in about 7ish on a Friday nite. Packed Parking lot had one lone space- lucky us. Way too hot for "The Porch", we went indoors. The noise was deafening- I seriously mean DEAFENING! There was one tiny table in the center of the din- we opted to turn back never to return again. If you are between 18 and 30, this is the place to hang I guess- cuz it seemed like that entire age Demographic was there. Checking out the menu online- it showed nothing unusual. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. The bar server, who should know when happy hour is, told us it's happy hour and after ringing in our drinks, said oh it doesn't start for 5 more minutes. Impact to us $6. Not material but it's the principle. The bar back who walked past us multiple times during our visit could have cared less that we were there, until it was time to pay. He brings the bill on behalf of the waitress and when we paid, the bar server acted all surprised and said oh, you're checking out on us? The food was good, jalapeño poppers and fried carrot sticks. Bad Service by the manager!!! I've been going too this place for the past 6 months, and having a good time and enjoying myself . I go too know all the regulars made friends, and the bartenders and all... but one night I come there on a Sunday Evening and wait for about 45 min for a drink, sitting at the bar .... I ordered a drink from the bartender, and it took literally 45 min. I waited another hour too get the bartenders attention, too order a drink, and after that I said, " Just give me my tab, and didn't tip, for bad service..... You know when someone wins the lottery, balls the heck out and is broke again within a few years? That's how I would describe The Porch. They have a great location, a great building, a really nice patio that is actually cool in Summer... and somehow they mess things up so much that you have no desire to return. To come out and say, as a server, that you have the best wings in Phoenix with JT's less than a mile away and a Zipps less than a mile away is ballsy. Especially when your wings aren't anything to write home about. Also, I ordered a salad with a balsamic vinaigrette. There was no vinaigrette, it was literally thick balsamic glaze and basically inedible. The service is absolutely awful as well, our server basically left us on an island the entire time we were there. I really hope this place sells to Fox or LGO because Royale Jelly clearly has no idea what they're doing. At least they didn't mess up the cold beers. read more

I've been to the Porch three times now and all experiences have been pretty great! It's the perfect spot for a happy hour, a casual dinner, or late night drinks. Food (4/5) The menu has traditional bar food items with a bit of a twist. They also have some healthier salads and grain bowls (The Porch Protein bowl is delish!). All items range from $8-$15. Also, the cocktail menu is awesome with lots of delicious, unique options. My favorite is My Ex-Wife Secret - cucumber vodka, watermelon syrup, lime juice and soda water. They are dangerous! Service (4/5) I've had two different servers and they were both very friendly! They do always seem a bit confused and unable to answer some questions, but they are typically pretty attentive. Ambiance (5/5) The vibe is really great here! I love that it seems like more of a neighborhood hangout instead of a dingy bar environment. Forever my favorite place. Every single person who works here is unbelievably cool and welcoming. All the food is awesome and the atmosphere is top notch. My favorite thing to get is waffle tenders. All the bowls are really good too if you feel like being healthy they have a ton of options. If not they have mac n cheese and all sorts of fun stuff! I've taken everyone here from my family to my clients to my my friEnds from out of town! Everyone loves it. It is pretty low key for lunch generally I've never waited. At night it gets a little busy but they have everything super spread out and people Wearing masks to the bathroom. Brunch is also 10/10. I was in town visiting from Houston and we decided to stop by for a late dinner. I was with a friend from Phoenix who insisted this isn't the usually protocol but it looks like the staff here needs to be trained as to how to reduce risks while at work during a pandemic. All staff had masks, but some staff members were not wearing them. It's been common practice recently to wear a chin guard rather than a mask, I'm guilty of doing so when I'm not Interacting with people (for example, in my car alone, walking outside ALONE.) When walking into the restaurant the hostess had to put her tasks down to put on her mask before greeting us. I guess I'm used to management enforcing masks at ALL times while there is patrons in the restaurant. She went on to take our temperature but did not know how to work the digital thermometer gun and called over a co worker, the co worker came up to us with a chin guard, not a mask. Continued to take our temperature with a chin guard, not a mask....walked us to the table, grabbed our server and continued to walk around the restaurant the rest of the night with a mask around her chin rather than over her mouth and nose. There was a certain overtone of defiance, she knew she was challenging the norm and management should have intervened. Over all, the food was alright. I ordered the Cobb salad and my date ordered the ceviche. The food rivaled that of a Chili's (for scale). I love chili's, but I don't go out of my way for it. Dear management, train your staff on safety operations if you choose to open during a pandemic. read more

I've been hearing a fun vibe but terrible service...and that's correct. Manager comped our beers cause we got our food before drinks, and it wasn't even busy. I was very pleased by that. ....but then, when waiting on another beer there was no waitress in sight. I originally went there to watch football. I asked for them to put my teams game on. Later without even asking they changed cause someone showed up an hour later and asked to have it changed...yet didn't ask me. Worst service ever! Manager seems to be on top of things but staff is totally incompetent. Best was when I asked what domestic bottles they offered and I was told corona. I didn't think that seemed right so she then told me she actually had no idea. Hilarious! Do they even train people there? Do yourself a favor and skip this place. On my second visit, I was tickled by the fact that he remembered my name and drink of choice. I had the South of the Border cocktail that was pretty good, although I'm not sure if I'd order it again for $13. But the major thing that factored into my rating is that the bartender seemed annoyed we were even there. While the food and drinks were decent, the service was HORRIBLE. The waitress had the attitude of couldn't be bothered and overall had a rude demeanor. She checked in with the table very mininally the entire visit. She never refilled our waters, didn't clear our plates when we were done, completely forgot 2 of my friends drinks, and only when it was very clear that we were ready to go did she ask if we wanted to get anything else. We just had the apple pie Alamode and a couple drinks atmosphere was good vibe with DJ and plenty of activities and games to hang out and challenge with friends. I've been here a few times and it's typically good service but today I went in for lunch and was not greeted for 10 minutes. I watched the server walk around on her cell phone. I was patient and waited and finally got menus. When I ordered I asked for bbq sauce. Once the food was delivered I had to ask 4 more times for the sauce. During this time my server was at a table on her cell phone hanging out with other employees... An employee was dancing on my server while I continued to wait for the bbq sauce. I had to get up and go to the table of employees to ask for me check. The server replied that she was now off and I had a new server because she was in a " social media meeting " unfortunately I never was introduced to this new server and they never checked on my table. Entryway and overall ambiance is upbeat and positive. Seat Yourself is tricky for me. It worked out fine today but sometimes I get overwhelmed when places are busy. Service - friendly and efficient and coordinated, they all seem to help each other cover tables so we never felt neglected. Menu - interesting and with enough variety to please almost everyone in your party. Grilled Cheese with Short Rib hits it on several spots! The bread stands up to the filling without being soggy or too "bready". Beef and cheddar are old classics but the pickles and sauce really take it up a notch. I went all in and had the Chips & dip as my side (at this point who am I trying to kid, it's Cheat Day All Day). It's not too noisy though like cold beer and cheeseburgers across the street can get sometimes where I can hear the person next to me because of the TV commercials. Pros 1.Entertaining 2.Great staff 3. Bartenders know their stuff 4. Plenty of seating Now to the cons..... 1. Parking but they have great parking valets 2. The food is never the same twice 3. They need another new cook cause if your cook tells you he is"trying new things" while your staff says yeah not sure why they changed it something isn't right. 4. Fried pickles should be sliced not whole dang pickles. ITS A JOKE. They don't cook the same way and no one else makes them that way. The skin in on the bottom of the pickle and when you bit into a whole one you pull the pickle out of the fried part and you end up with one or the other. 5. Never has the fried grilled cheese tasted the same as the first time I got it. Its either 90%cheese 10%short rib or the opposite but never a blend like a sandwich should be. So besides the fact that the new "chef" cant fry a pickle or make a grilled cheese this place is great for a meet up or to catch a game. read more
