The food is fresh and homemade, cooked perfectly. The service was fast but extremely friendly. The atmosphere is loud with laughter and enthusiasm. The Post is a hidden treasure that I'll be returning to that's for sure! I can't wait to try some of there baked goods. read more

Went today around noon to have lunch, excited that I didn't have kiddos with me. Walked in and the sign said "please wait to be seated" so I did, nothing. There were maybe 4 tables occupied and two waitress, both of them looked at me multiple times yet neither said hi or they'd be with me in a bit or anything, just kept going on about their merry business while I stood in the doorway waiting to be seated. I even heard one of the waitresses tell a guy at a table "were not busy so I can go over it with you". I stood there for about 5 solid minutes (which is a good amount of time to just be standing staring at people) before walking out. They could have acknowledged me and said something. After reading the reviews, we decided to come here for lunch and give this place a try. When I first came in here, my initial impression was that this place seemed homey. The place is small, but comfortable in terms of space. There's a counter that has a selection of desserts in its display case. A line of tables sits in the center of the restaurant while booths surround it on the sides. Open windows adorn the walls of the restaurant with small curtain-like cloths hanging over them. Daughter says the restaurant gives off a dollhouse vibe based on the size and the overall interior design. We got seated immediately after checking in. Daughter ordered the Country Fried Steak with two eggs biscuits, and gravy on the side. She ordered her eggs cooked over hard. Daughter liked her dish and thought it was tasty and well-made. While the gravy did not come on the side as she specified, (she's Type 1, so she ordered the sauce to be separate), she still liked the dish and considered that to be a minor concern for herself. Hubs ordered Tourtiere, which is a meat pie with eggs, baked beans, and sourdough bread. He was glad that he tried it, but he wouldn't order it again. He'd never had a meat pie before, so he wanted to try it, but after he finished eating, he realized that meat pies just aren't his cup of tea. LOL. Lastly, I had Marinated Beef tips with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I had ordered the beef tips rare. The sauce was tasty, but despite this as well as the beef tips being cooked rare, the overall quality of the meat was a bit chewy. The dish is very juicy and has a lot of flavor to it, but it was difficult to chew it. Overall, I love the place. All the bread on our plates tasted fresh. Service was friendly and quick. My wife & I were looking to try a new breakfast place and chose to check out this place. Well we made a Good decision, it has a clean & comfortable atmosphere. The wait staff was efficient & friendly! As far as the food is concerned, I got the Greek omelette with home fries & side of ham..two thumbs up, while my wife got the veggie wrap breakfast sandwich also two thumbs up...& FYI, they make all their own breads, Yummy. On the way out we checked out their display case & got some chocolate chip cookies, excellent! Lots of other tasty looking treats in the display case. Definitely recommend this place!! read more

I regularly order take out from The Post and have never been disappointed. The food has always been great and ready on time. I particularly like the biscuits and gravy. My wife is a fan of the bacon omelet. I would highly recommend this restaurant and based on the parking lot on a weekend morning many others do as well! read more

The Newell Post opened very recently on Fisherville Road in Penacook, owned and operated by the Newells, who also formerly owned and sold Summer Freeze a few years ago. The Newell Post serves breakfast all day and lunch inside a former chiropractic office, which was expanded and renovated. The atmosphere inside is casual, clean, and comfortable atmosphere, a fully carpeted dining room with booths along the windows, table seating, and seating at the counter, kitchen area visible. The breakfast menu offerings include egg dishes, bennies, scrambles, 3 egg omelets, pancakes, Belgian waffles, French toast, sausage gravy & biscuits, homemade corned beef hash, homemade breads/toast, and breakfast sides. The lunch menu offerings include salads, homemade soups, chili, specialty sandwiches (with fries or slaw), wraps, clubs with fries, burgers & fries, sandwiches (with housemade potato chips & dill pickle) and comfort dinners (meatloaf, open-faced sandwiches, ham steak, haddock, whole clams, chicken tenders, chicken pot pie). The prices here are reasonable, most entrees priced $4.29-$8.29. Specials are offered too. Upon recommendations and "heads-up" from coworkers, I decided to stop here for breakfast on a typical weekday morning. I sat myself at an open table and the waitress promptly gave me a menu and offered coffee. For breakfast, I ordered the Hash Lovers Omelet ($7.89) with homefries and homemade white toast. The folded omelet was soft and fluffy with minced corned beef/potato cubes, and plenty of white American cheese. The homemade corned beef hash was not salty tasting, which is the way I enjoy it. The home fries were fresh cut potato pieces, grilled, lightly browned, and seasoned, firm texture. The homemade buttered toast was firm and crisp. The service was very good and friendly on my recent visit. The food arrived in under 10 minutes after I ordered. I was offered coffee refills (I had 2 extra cups), a big cup of ice water to go with my breakfast, and asked how I heard about Newell Post (through coworkers) and to spread the word to friends. I will spread the word in this Yelp review. Overall, I had a great breakfast with an overall 4.5 stars (I will round up). I will have to return for lunch when I'm out on the road. This is definitely a much needed place to go for a sitdown breakfast in the Penacook/Boscawen area. read more

It is my understanding this is a relatively new spot (built in last two years). It is a small place with minimal waiting area (which you will do) so if you are blocking the entrance just open the door and smile. Food is very good. The bread is homemade, the corned beef hash is shredded corn beef with small potatoes ... Tremendous. Eggs Benny is cooked perfectly, veggie wrap is very tasty. Breakfast is served all day, every day (during their limited hours, that is...until 2pm daily). They can cook up a mean breakfast plate here. If you like yourself some eggs benny, the hollandaise sauce is amaazee. But the real winners here are the pancakes! So fluffy, so delicious. No maple syrup required, but if you must - ask for the real stuff. The staff are some of the friendliest people around. They are also a bakery that offers catering. read more

Newell Post has quickly become one of my favorite places in Concord for several reasons. 1. The wait(or lack there of) There is rarely a long wait. We go out to breakfast a lot of weekends and the most we have ever experienced here is a 10 min which is nothing for a Sunday morning. 2. The friendly "diner" atmosphere. Waitresses are fast and efficient and never let your coffee cup be empty. 3. The menu. You would think that a small place like this would have just the breakfast diner standard items but their menu far exceeds my expectations for a quick breakfast. The homemade hash is amazing with chunks of real corned beef and the crepes and cinnamon rolls are a must have. 4. The prices. Who doesn't love breakfast for two costing less than $20! For those of you who gave Newell Post a try a few years ago and were not that impressed, it's definitely worth another visit. read more

So I have given the Newell Post several tries and wouldn't write a one star review without a lot of thought. I find that although the place is nice and in a great location the food is sub par. I recently got an omelette with home fries. The home fries had no flavor or seasoning. They were literally just thawed out pieces of potatoes that I'm not sure were even cooked. They had no color. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I did have a pesky fly buzzing me the whole time and my breakfast frittata was really just an omelet with spinach and potatoes. It had too many potatoes for my taste but I just picked some of them out. My husband had Haddock Nuggets which he enjoyed very much. They have baked goods available, which are also very good. Today I ate here for the 3rd time in the past several months or so and left pretty underwhelmed. Why so much hype surrounding this place? It's friendly. The basics like muffins and simple eggs are spot on. After that it gets weird. My 11$ "Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict" were made from chopped imitation crab meat. It tasted like a scoop of deep fried grocery store deli counter seafood salad, complete with the sugary aftertaste and unappetizing red die throughout. The waitress who couldn't be nicer told me I was wrong but it was pretty clear that she had no knowledge of the product and wouldn't know fresh crab from Tofurkey. That's really it. If you want a friendly place to have a traditional bacon and eggs type breakfast or a really good muffin go for it but I recommend that you steer wide of any thing less basic. My friends and I saw this place on Yelp when we were looking for lunch, and were seated and ready to order from the menu before we were told lunch wasn't being offered. The staff was nice about stretching the rules for us a bit on things like a BLT, though. And while the BLT was not good (bacon unevenly cooked, mostly), those of us who did order breakfast items were very happy with it. Oh -- the side of cooked apples was excellent. Ordered two omelets, one was written on western other Ruben... the Ruben was the western and the western was something totally different and disgusting. I recently gave this place a second chance, and I'm sad to report that it was no different than my first experience. When we were sat, no one came to speak to us for 10 minutes, this includes taking our order for drinks while we look over the menu. We sat at the counter in hopes the service would be quicker than last time...it wasn't. We waited almost a half hour for food. Saw this place on Yelp when we were looking for a breakfast place in the area after out of town appointments. The restaurant is on the small side and was quite busy for mid morning so we felt fortunate to get seating right away. Our server came right over, was friendly and welcoming and took our beverage orders. We decided on what we wanted to order---lots of good choices! Our breakfasts were brought to us in a timely fashion and looked and smelled really good. My husband had ordered scrambled eggs and hash. He loves hash and usually orders it when trying out a new place. He said it was very good and he would order it again! His eggs were just right and his toast was still warm! I had ordered an omelet loaded with goodness and it was perfect. Loved all the bacon in it. Had a grilled English muffin---yum! Homefries were ok. Could have had more seasoning!
