A large group of us descended without warning upon the staff at the Newell Post after attending a military ceremony at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscowan. Our experience started off great from the moment we walked in the door, as they worked quickly to make room for us all to sit together, though we could have split off if need be. The food was fantastic, and the servings plentiful. If you travel enough and visit enough breakfast places on the side of road, you would know that its so important to have a place that is as clean as your home. Corn Beef Hash and eggs...yum! Sausage gravy with biscuit ... double yum!! The only drawback is that it took waayy too long for our food to come out and for us to get the check. I did see multiple tables get their dishes before us, even though they came after us. I assumed they were baking the biscuit or something. Cute mom and pop breakfast house. It was literally like eating over at your grandma's house. We got here at 9:45 on a Sunday and only had to wait fifteen minutes. The staff is friendly and attentive. Our favorites were the hash and eggs, home fries, baked apples and the bacon :) we're diet coke snobs so the individual bottle diet cokes were appreciated! Excellent! We stopped by last Monday morning for a mid-morning breakfast and the place was full. I can see why. (Thanks Yelpers!). We drove right past it, so be careful to look for the sign. It's not your typical restaurant looking sign or place, in fact, it used to be a chiropractor's office, I heard. The place is immaculately clean and super bright and airy. The menu is typical breakfast fare with a few creative spins and daily specials. Lunch is sandwiches and some hot items. The story on the back of the menu explains the owners (the Newells) journey, but failed to mention why it's called "Post". I was thinking it had been the post office, but the waitress just laughed and said "nope". As other reviews mentioned, there was only one server for the whole dining room. She was doing her best, working quickly, but more help is warranted. The coffee was decent and hot, but the mugs are small and because of the lack of waitstaff, they were not offered to be refilled. We were so thrilled with our main choices. Each were plenty for two people to have shared. We got the biscuit and sausage gravy. WHOA. This is right up there with what I would want as my last meal on earth. So flavorful and fresh, super hearty and the most perfectly cooked biscuit. The sausage was not spicy, just packed with flavor. We also ordered the Eggs Benedict omelet. Fluffy eggs wrapped around nice slices of Canadian bacon, broccoli and cheese, all covered in deliciously light hollandaise sauce. I got buttered cinnamon raisin toast on the side. They are known for their homemade breads and this did not disappoint. Yummy and thick with a nice swirl of cinnamon and raisins. The only negative were the sides. I had never tried grits before, so we ordered them. Maybe I don't understand them, because they were just a white pile of what looked and tasted like packing peanuts put through a blender and heated. Adding butter and maple syrup helped, but not much. The other side was their home fries. Meh. Seriously, meh. I think they may be just white potatoes, cut into small cubes and deep fried. They lacked flavor, crispness, depth and pizzazz. Breakfast can be won or lost by potatoes alone, so this is a problem. Some seasoning and possibly onions would have help tremendously. I agree with another poster who suggested that hash browns would be a good additional choice. Amen! I look forward to returning, but maybe next time we'll try the baked apples for the side. read more

We had an amazing breakfast at The Post Restaurant. It is a small place but clean and bright inside. There were a lot of breakfast options with something everyone. I had the biscuits with sausage gravy which was delish! Hubby had two crepes with strawberries and whipped cream, which he loved. Serving portions were generous. The staff were fast, efficient and provided service with a smile. If we weren't from out of state we would be back to try out their lunch menu too. read more

The corned beef hash I ordered was no lie literally just pulled apart corn beef mixed with undercooked cubed potatoes. Being homecooked I expected to not prefer canned from walmart more but this is a exception I guess. The eggs I ordered Over-Easy and they were cooked as such. Soda/Pop comes in the bottles. Not a lot of seating so instead of waiting 4th in line at 10Am for breakfast to get a booth I opted for a small table with me and my significant other. We are always looking for new local breakfast places and oh my God have we found one. The wait to get in was long but very much worth it. The staff was friendly and playful and the service was fast. The food was simply excellent. Their take on corned beef hash was amazing. Everything else was perfectly cooked, hot and delicious. The homemade toast and bakery items are a must. We'll be back. We've been going to Newell post since they opened but have decreased the frequency consistently. They're always packed which is fantastic for business but their service and friendliness of staff has been on the decline--not to mention the quality of the food. Their home fries aren't bad, but standard. Their bread is baked fresh but I would bet anything that the dough comes in frozen. Their omelettes are good and safe to stick with, but sometimes the line cooks will omit items accidentally (when they're in the weeds its understandable). American cheese is their standard which I personally cannot stand, and I'm always frustrated when I forget to substitute it out. That's on me-just be advised. By far the most disappointing item on their menu are the crab cakes. (Served with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce--how could you go wrong, right?). For starters, they always over cook poached eggs and the homemade crab cakes contain IMITATION CRAB MEAT! My heart sank at first bite. Not to mention it's close to if not the most expensive item on the menu. If they were strictly a breakfast sandwich and omelette place they would likely get three stars... Also--you need to try the corn beef hash: it's homemade and absolutely delicious. Skew from that and you may or may not be disappointed-it really depends on the day. read more

Three of us have breakfast there yesterday. Arrived at 7:30 and we were seated in a booth. The place has 63 seats. I hear it can get crowed... and we don't wait in line for breakfast.The place is cheery and ambiance gets a 9 out of ten. The owners care and pay attention to detail. They are returning restaurateurs and if they made mistakes in the past they don't show up in this new restaurant. Oh yea, the food was great. Hubby and I were in the area for a 3-day vacation and found this place while searching Google and Yelp for recommendations. I think the fact that we went elsewhere on days 2 and 3 speaks to our opinion of the food. I ordered my standard "try a new place" breakfast of a Western omelet and hubby got 2 eggs with kielbasa. Bread was touted as homemade, but it could have been a bread machine. It was good, but nothing impressive. Hubby's kielbasa was undercooked, fairly limp and seemed to have just been warmed up. Bacon that came with his breakfast was gross. I LOVE bacon and I actually gave hubby back the piece he'd given me. Thin, overcooked, and absolutely no bacon taste, just grease. Lots of grease. Western omelet had teenytiny pieces of ham and LOTS of cheese, which some people might like, but isn't the balance of fillings I like in an omelet. We did find the option of baked apples instead of home fries as a side intriguing. Unfortunately, the apples tasted so much of cinnamon, the apple taste was barely discernible. While the food wasn't terrible, it wasn't enough to make us rush back...or really ever come back when we're in the area again. We tried another place the next day and it was MUCH better in comparison, so we went there for the last day of our trip, too. read more

Ummm, what?! From the street, it doesn't look like much, but according to trusty Yelp, we tried The Newell Post. When we walked in, we were shocked!! It was SO cute, and SO friendly, and SO cozy! We were seated right away, even though it was busy (at 11:00am-ish). Although the tables we were at were tight together, and we felt like we were eating WITH our neighbors, it was still surprisingly comfortable. The food was wicked good. We had the waffle, with whipped cream and strawberries, and an Eggs Benedict Omelette. SOOOO yummy! The homefries were tasty, the food was cooked right, the toast was delicious... how could we go wrong? In the end we were SO stuffed....so we got a sticky roll to go! ;) We will be back on another trip up north! read more

Friendly breakfast spot with reasonable prices and solid food. Have tried it a few times. Enjoy the waffle the most with real maple syrup but the crepes with maple cream also very good. My only significant complaint is I dont care for their bacon. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since we moved to the area last April. We FINALLY made it over there on Sunday morning. My husband, my 4 year old son and I decided to give it a try. The line is usually out the door so we were lucky to be seated within 2 minutes of walking in. If this is your first time here, you should know that they keep a list at the counter where you write your own name in and how many are in your party. We didn't realize this and the hostess helped us out. The restaurant has a small parking lot and a small inside. The free standing tables are close together, but there are also booths around the perimeter and a breakfast bar near the kitchen you can sit at, as well. We waited a few more minutes than we would have liked for our server so when she finally did arrive we already had our orders ready to give her. My husband got the Salsa Fiesta omelette, my son got a kid's egg and toast and I ordered the crabcake eggs bene. We both had coffee and the little guy had OJ. We got our beverages right away, but the food took nearly 40 minutes. Our server came over around the 30 minute mark and explained that there was a large party that ordered just before we did and apologized. We were getting a bit antsy, as you can imagine. Luckily our 4 year old was behaving well. The temperature inside the building was very warm. I ended up longing for the moment when a patron would open the front door near us so I could feel a cool breeze. When our food arrived it looked delicious! My husband was very happy with his omelette. We both were pleased with the crispiness of the home fries and the seasoning on it was perfect. No ketchup or salt and pepper needed! My crabcake bene was really REALLY good. The sweetness of the crab mixed with the saltiness of the hollandaise left my tongue in a happy, happy state. I couldn't finish my plate. I left half my homefries and half of one of bene behind, as much as it hurt me to do so, my insides just couldn't take another bite. All in all I'd say that this place is worth the wait. Tried The Newell Post for an additional breakfast choice in the Concord area. I'd be hard pressed to give this anymore than three stars. The pumpernickel bread that was supposed to be amazing was under toasted and soaked with butter to the point of being mush. The table we sat at was not wiped clean before seating us. The entrance and exit to the parking lot was one and the same, resulting in congestion and confusion. Why they made the decision to only serve hash browns during the work week is a little puzzling. On the plus side, they did have a decent eggs bene and to my surprise, they offered grits (needing salt and butter). Staff was pleasant and efficient. All being said, it's your typical average breakfast joint in the Concord area. We've been to worse so don't let this seemingly harsh, first visit review dissuade you from giving The Newell Post a try. read more

My boyfriend can't say enough good things about this place. They had crepes! So hard to find at a breakfast joint around Concord. Very cute and small, seems to be a lot of regulars and like all the customers and staff all know each others name which is nice to see the staff cares enough to remember so many faces. Now under new ownership. Vikky (the new owner) has added a favorite veteran's dish as a more frequent Sunday special. 'Chipped Beef on Toast' also known as SOS along with another Sunday selection has appeared the last few of weeks YUM. Oh and be sure to ask the wait staff or check the table postings as the specials are often 'in addition' to the menu items. One thing about this restaurant that stands out is the absolutely delicious menu selections that you do not see at other restaurants in the area. It's well worth stopping in and giving them a try. Shhhhh... this place has the most amazing cinnamon roll ever. Keep it quiet though because they sell out! I've been known to order one before my coffee, if there's only one in the case. Now, they're always good, but unfortunately not always amazing. They're noticeably inferior if they're a day old. The rest of their baked goods are good too. They have a busy, talented baker! Most of the breads are made in house. The rest of the food is pretty good. Outside of the cinnamon roll, which is in a class of its own, this is one of my top 3 in Concord for breakfast. The breakfast sandwich (on homemade bread) is terrific. Omelets are good, too. Waffles, mmm. I've had great sandwiches here, also. But... the menu has a few misses. I hesitate with pancakes, because they seem to share the griddle - I don't know, but I've had bits of sausage or other breakfast meat (that I didn't order) all over pancakes & French toast. Also, OJ from a can is a disappointment & out of league with the rest of the food. And don't get mushrooms - they use canned (!) again, strange, given the quality of the rest of the food. We love it here! The food is always perfect, the waiting I time for the food to arrive is never long and the waitress we always get is super sweet. I forget her name. She is an older woman. We have a one year old son and she is always so good to him. Today she gave him a small bowl of soup for free (that we didn't even ask for) to hold him over while he waited, she always brings him a book and she gave him a free Christmas cookie as we were leaving. We went to the Newell Post in early afternoon but were SO pleased to see that they served breakfast all day. I'm a fan of a lot of places for strictly that reason! We'd heard that there could be long lines if we went in the morning, so we caught them after the rush. My daughter had the sausage, biscuits and gravy which she said was delicious. I ordered a breakfast sandwich of fried egg and cheese with bacon, but it came with sausage on it instead. I decided not to send it back since it smelled great, and it was SO good. There were unique and amazing-sounding dishes listed on the Specials menu on each table. 2nd review... just ordered Easter dinner takeout for our family to eat at home due to the pandemic. EXCELLENT is all I can say. The homemade biscuit was huge and fluffy and the ham was tender and full of flavor. But.. the highlight was the carrot cake at the end! OMG! Love this place and it is so close to home.
