    Buffalo chicken pretzel sandwich

Best buff chicken sandwich and the prices are even better. Quick and great service! Worth the 40 minute drive to get there!

Large catering trays (savory and sweet) with dips from the Pretzel Shop

The Pretzel Shop is a Pittsburgh staple. My company ordered catering from them (5 large trays of pretzels/hot dog pretzels and 2 large trays of the cinnamon sugar pretzels with plenty of dips). Everything was amazing. The pretzels were all well salted, cooked, and presented. The delivery was smooth. I would definitely recommend them for catering. I then went downtown that weekend with friends to grab some other items fresh from the store. DON'T SLEEP ON THEM... no but literally.... If you come down in the afternoon, there will not be any choices. We got there at 3:30 and there were only five pretzels (not five types, but only five pretzels). They make it fresh and it sells. Only issue is that their store is not a place to eat. They only have two small counters against the front windows, and when people are entering and exiting, the door is almost a weapon to people trying to eat inside. But honestly, just get it to go and eat it at home.

Probably my favorite place to stop anytime I am down the south side! Their soft pretzels are my #1 favorite, especially when you can buy it and eat it right away. We also love to order their breakfast sandwiches.

The Pretzel Shop opened in 1927, and its employees bake hand-twisted pretzels in a brick oven from 1872! The pretzels come in different sizes and in many flavors: plain, salted, sugar-cinnamon, garlic, parmesan, garlic-parmesan, tomato-basil, jalapeno-cheddar, parmesan-bacon, and pepperoni-mozzarella. Dips include nacho cheese, cheddar cheese, honey mustard, spicy mustard, ranch, icing, and caramel. In addition, the menu includes many salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and other baked goods (e.g., gobs, muffins, brownies, and cookies). Catering is available. My husband and I stopped here one time. He bought several pretzels with cheese. The employees did a good job serving us, and the pretzels and cheese tasted good.

This place was so nice we had to stop twice on our 3 days in Pittsburgh! Reddit brought The Pretzel Shop to my attention when I was looking for hidden gems of places to snag a cheap meal. The food was delicious and you can get lots of it for a good price. The family that owns it was very friendly and patient with us as we made our selections, which took some time since there were lots of options. We discussed the appropriate amounts of garlic on a pepperoni roll when I told them I appreciated that theirs was pure bread, haha. It's a small place with a few tables outside, so be prepared to either take to go or eat in your car or on a walk. It's also cash only, but they do have an ATM. We will definitely make a point to stop in on our next trip to Pitt.

It's been 20+ years since my last visit to the Pretzel Shop. This is a true South Side staple. I'm not typically in the area during the week early, but I took advantage of being nearby. I stopped in around 8am on a Friday morning. I bought a half dozen pretzels for $4.80 (cash only) and was on my way. I remember working daylight in the Southside back in 2002 and would stop here regularly for lunch. This is a staple you want to visit. The pretzel's still outstanding after all these years. Glad I was able to make a quick visit happen.

Clean pretzel bakery. Helpful and friendly staff. Pretzels of all kinds. Always fresh.

Great spot for a hot fresh pretzel at an amazing price! You can even go around back to see the prep process, a fun drop in if hosting tourists in Pittsburgh or just exploring the Southside. Pretzels themselves are yummy, you can taste the freshness! They are a bit "healthier" in taste than I normally go for (I've got a bit of a butter addiction) so not my favorite soft pretzel but absolutely worth the stop in!

I herd great things about these pretzels and was in the area and decided to give them a try. I am always in the mood for a good pretzel too bad these where not good. I was a bit disappointed the pretzels where cold and where not really soft. I thought they had a weird taste to them and for all the hype I herd I was very disappointed. The store only takes cash which is a bit of a downer as i like using a credit card. The price for a pretzel was very reasonable at 80 cents each. I have to say they do not hold a torch to Philly Pretzel Factory. I have to say I would not go again for any reason as they just where not good. The staff where friendly and helpful. I am sorry to say i would not recommend this shop to any one. I generally would give one star but the service was good and the staff where friendly so I will give it 2 stars.

This place is amazing! It is a pretty dense pretzel. I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich on a Thursday for $4.50. It was so worth it! Came with lettuce and tomato. I'm sure the service is great, a friend picked up my order. The place is nice and offers a lot of variety. It's good price and pretty good food.

Wow! I grew up with a pretzel shop down the street but this place is so much better. Wonderful service and what a history. If you love pretzels then you must stop here. The pretzels are so good! When I am in the area I will stop in to stock up. Highly recommend this place. So friendly and helpful.

The Pretzel Shop is a South Side staple and a must-visit for both locals and tourists. It's one of those places I walked past everyday for years and regrettably never tried until recently. These are some of the best, heartiest soft pretzels in Pittsburgh. What I enjoy even more are their warm sandwiches. They're so delicious and prices are very affordable - one of my favorite lunch spots in the area.

The Pretzel Shop in South Side tastes like my childhood. The pretzels are still baked in a wood fire oven in the back of the property in small batches and there is always a line of customers. Make sure to have cash. Great to take to the park for a snack, as there is no indoor dining.

In addition to being organic and vegan I also appreciate the fact that they aren't too salty like many other soft pretzels are. These pretzels also reheat well in the toaster oven which is great when you are already stuffed but want to take a pretzel to go. I especially recommend the cinnamon butter dip which has a very unique flavor. I've never had anything like it. It is reminiscent of cinnamon ice cream in texture and flavor without actually being cold or too sweet. You also don't mind using a lot of it as it is light and fluffy in mouthfeel.  They must never take the tasty cinnamon butter away!!! They also have a tasty mustard dip which is a condiment I often recommend to people as a Dietitian due to its many health benefits. As the only local pretzel place in Pittsburgh to serve both organic and vegan pretzels this is the *perfect* vendor to any local party you are having - particularly events that have the need to be vegan and/or organic as people become increasingly concerned with their health and the environment. I highly recommend contacting Connor today or ordering a pretzel from him if you see his pretzels at an event! :)

I was told she could not. So I grabbed some Philly stuffed pretzels, a pretzel dog and a pretzel, I asked which mustard or any sauce I should try I was told I should know if I would like spicy or not, but there were so many other flavors. I just grabbed a honey mustard and a spicy. The Philly pretzels were old and hard to chew I could only eat one. The pretzel dog was soggy and wet on the bottom and hard on top. My regular pretzel was weird! I literally have nothing positive to say except it was nice and clean inside and I thought it looked super cute outside. I definitely wouldn't go back! What a terrible first experience in my new state.

The menu sold us - and we had an evening we've been reminiscing about for the past three years. We were able to return this year - with a larger group of friends - and it was worth the wait (though I hope it won't be another three years before I can come back!). I made a reservation for a dozen of us, from around the country, various ages, various palates. We had a nice table set for us, with a WONDERFUL server who could not have been kinder (and shame on me for not remembering her name - Friday the 28th, you were GREAT). The drinks were fantastic and I think we could have stuffed ourselves with apps alone. Every single one of us was both excited to share our dish but also hopeful we'd get the last bite after it made its way 'round the table. Dinners were FANTASTIC. I will be dreaming of my corned beef and cabbage sandwich for weeks and even months. People raved about their herring and their potato-pancake-reuben and their spaetzle and sausages... it's hard to take a large group out to a place and have every person leave incredibly happy *and* wanting to return on our next trip to Pittsburgh.
