This place is phenomenal. Came here after hiking Torrey Pines. Their surf and turf grilled cheese is weird and strange and nothing short of magnificent. I loved it. My girl got a beef dip of some sort. That was great also. She's a bit of a connosieur of this type of sandwich and said it was in her top 3 all time. Which says a lot. I tried it too. Excellent. It seemed to be lots of locals. You can't be shy sitting next to people. TPF is quaint with cozy seating. The menu appeared appetizing, I tried a garlic burger. I like garlic but its dangerous to have on food if you're planning on getting laid that night. Good thing Im a virgin! Dude, I kid you not, that burger was so damn delicious! I've been craving it again. The only downside is that I smelled like garlic for two days. I went to Park-n-Rec later that night and the girls I spoke to were covering their noses. Still not worth losing a star though. Im huge on service. If the food is great but the employees suck, I wouldn't go back. If the service is great but the food sucks. I would give the place another shot. At the Promiscuous Fork, the food is great and the employees are greater. I literally felt like I could invite the guy and girl at the counter out for a drink. Wow! Where to begin!!? Small place, but the interior is welcoming and the music selection featured some of my favorite reggae. Owners are super nice and very welcoming. Customer service was wonderful. The menu was a hilarious read, and the fact you can actually watch the staff cook your food on a grill was freaking awesome! We got the pork quesadilla, jalapeno poppers, and salmon tacos. Every single thing we ate was amazing!! Fresh tasting, hot, and to be honest I would pay more than 9$ for the main dishes. On a recommendation from a friend we came here while at La Jolla Cove. I am so glad we listened, this a little hole in the wall in a small strip mall. The food is very good. The sliders and the short rib tacos were excellent and the Mac n Cheese was pretty damn good also. This place is tiny about 29 seats including outside seating. This is one of those places you can have a love/hate relationship with because it's so great but it is small and depending on when you come you may or may not be able to enjoy it. We live nearby and see that it gets very busy, very often. We have come several times, early on a Saturday or Friday before it gets busy, and have had the pleasure of enjoying their fine beer selection and noshes. The lamb lollipops were excellent and the "not so grilled cheese sandwich" was one of the tastiest sandwiches I have ever had. It was new and I did not get a whole lot of confirmation that it would come back on the menu but I will remember that sandwich forever: crunchy, tangy, cheesy, delicious. I hope I see it again. Rating: 3.5 Came here last weekend with my parents for a casual dinner. The place was smaller than expected and filled inside, but it was still pretty cool with the open rolled-up window. The staff was friendly and understanding while explaining their store's favorites. We decided to order the Lamb Lollipops, Kailua Pork Quesadillas, Ring-of-Fire, Yuck-Mouth, and The Best Fork'n Chicken Sandwich Ever (no really, that's its name). I've heard that the Lamb Lollipops is a hit and miss sometimes (depending how charcoally yours may turn out) Topped with a basalmic-hoisin reduction and paired with a side of their Jalapeño coconut rice, mine did not turn out too far on the burnt side and was one of the better eats of the night. The Best Fork'n Chicken Sandwich Ever was supposedly the most popular sandwich on the menu, but did not live up to my expectations. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly, but seemed to be downgraded by the sandwich itself. The Ring-of-Fire was a killer burger, so good that you wanted to eat more but so spicy you need to take a break with your cup of water. It was a bit oily for me, but overall was a decent bite. Overall the place was slightly above average, some dishes stood out while others were a flop. Not sure how soon I'll come back, but I'd like to try more of their menu! read more

I had the BBBLT sandwich and the Caesar salad with the roasted green chile dressing. Both were awesome. We opened up with the bacon wrapped cream cheese stuffed jalapeños. They we're delicious. My wife got the Yuck-mouth burger - which is garlic infused with roasted garlic on top with white cheddar. This was equally awesome. This place is racist. I went in to get an order for myself and the lady behind the counter did not want to help me. She was helping some other person of Caucasian descent. She was even talking to him and telling him how a wonderful day it was today. When I wanted to place my order she told me we are about to close and we are cleaning up which they weren't doing either. I noticed that they still had enough time to take my order before closing time. More than 30 minutes. I had ordered a sandwich. My husband wanted something from the restaurant next door and when he came in with the bag from next door she kicked him out and told him he was not allowed to go in bc he was carrying The bag from next door. He was just waiting for me to get my order. Then she proceeded to tell me to wait outside for my order. She wanted me to wait outside because I then heard her speaking about my husband to another co-worker. In addition, she was also giving me attitude when I left the restaurant. I never wrote reviews but I had to tell others about this place. Their food was also horrible. The shrimp tastes like it had been sitting for a long time. I threw my food away. Before leaving with my wife for a date kayaking at La Jolla Shores, I checked Yelp to find a good local restaurant for lunch that would not break the budget. I found The Promiscuous Fork and based on the other reviews decided to give it a try. Like the other reviewers said, this place is very small. The art on the walls is a bit eclectic. My wife had the Kailua Pork Quesadilla and I had the Surf & Turf Grilled Cheese (crab, pastrami, white cheddar, and provolone) with a side of macaroni salad. The crisp tortilla, delicious pork, and gouda cheese were perfectly complimented by the hoisin sauce and a cilantro/sour cream mixture drizzled on top. The sour dough bread on the Surf & Turf was toasted to perfection and the mixture of crab and pastrami was amazing. The macaroni salad was wonderful with just a touch of horseradish to compliment the cool creaminess. I highly recommend The Promiscuous Fork next time you are in La Jolla. read more

I had the best fork'n chicken sandwich and it indeed was, the best chicken sandwich I've had in years. Maybe ever. They put a green chili sauce on it that I would do shots of, if given the chance. I had the Kailua Pork Quesadilla and she had the Grilled Caesar Salad w/ added Chicken. My quesadilla was incredible. Great flavor and an appropriate amount of sauce.
