3.5 stars - I ate lunch here - food is made to order, so it'll take 15-20 minutes, despite the fact that it looks like a fast-casual joint (and to the disappointment of several people who ordered takeout). Sauce on the lamp lollipops was on point, but the lamb itself was cooked a bit too well-done for me. I also ordered the yuck-burger medium rare and it definitely came on the well-done side. They don't have a deep fryer so it's either coconut rice, mac and cheese, or potatoes on the side. It's the first time I've ever had burger with a side of rice...it's interesting. read more

Super stoked to have another place near home that is easy to go to and has exceptional food for the price. Jalapeno poppers were reallly awesome, the picture says all you need to know. The hippie sandwhich was very well put together, a very satifying veggie option. My mom had a burger and I ate a few bites, it was a bomb ass burger, looked great, the beef had the look of something much better than what you might find say across the street at The Shack. Put that together with some very good beer on tap and in the bottle choices, slong with wine, and you're got a great, albeit small joint that sells quality food, and a respectable price. Ray and his staff put a lot into their food... A LOT OF FLAVOR! I really am impressed with their sandwich, The Hippie - so delicious. I love the beers on tap and the atmosphere is fun. It's tight in there because they're always packed esp. around lunch. If you're not a vegetarian, try the Lamb Lollipops - they're the bomb (if you don't like spice, they're not for you). Went here friday with my Dad after hearing good things about this place. He had the Pot Roast Sandwicha and I had the June Gloom Burger. Both were amazing the meat was prepared flawlessly the burger was nice and juicy full of flavors and my dad gave me a sample of his pot roast sandwich which was also amazing! Highly recommend and will definitely be bringing some of my friends back to this joint to try other menu items that have caught my eye. read more

I had the La Jolla and also shared the Jalapeño Poppers. The food was wonderful! My favorites were the Poppers and the Coconut Jalapeño Rice. I am truly sad that this is my last night in La Jolla because I want to go back and try the Lamb Lollipops and The Ring of Fire Burger. The vibe was great, laid back and friendly. We didn't have much of a wait but they were hopping by the time we left. There is bar style seating only so it's not a place for infants. They have no kids menu either but have sliders and things kids will eat. My eight year old loved my chicken on the La Jolla. He actually said it was amazing! Met here for dinner with friends. I loved the casual beachy vibe mixed with hipstery feel. Food- super good. The lamb lollipops were excellent!!! Tender and perfectly grilled. I also ordered the chicken sandwich. Honestly, the menu did not lie to me, the sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. I liked the pesto, and the meat was perfectly cooked. Drinks- the mimosas were a bit to be desired. We had the strawberry jalepeno one, but not really enough of a kick for me. Same with the raspberry yuzu thyme- yes raspberry but not much yuzu or thyme. Uhh. . not sure why this is 4.5 stars. . maybe because there is a lack of options in this area of San Diego. I came here for lunch. They have a viewing window so you can see how they prepare the food. The chicken wings were pre cooked and thrown on the grill for a few minutes. The burger (ordered medium rare. . . as the host suggested) seemed to be barely cooked, and sure enough, the inside was completely raw. . it was like eating beef tartare. . .the entire patty was lukewarm at best. its a shame. . i think it would have been good if it was actually cooked properly and the surface hot. So I came in with the intent of getting the surf and turf grilled cheese. Unfortunately they were out of either the surf or turf. I forget which one. Instead I got the grilled chicken sandwich. The bread was fluffy and toasted nicely, the chicken was a little too charred to my liking but the sauce was nice. Their macaroni salad and saffron rice were not flavored to my liking. I was visiting a friend in California and we stumbled onto this hidden gem. Great food in a cozy atmosphere. Large portions so there is plenty to share. If you're in the area this is a must stop! Best fish tacos I've ever had. Got the Blackened Salmon tacos and was very impressed. The place is small and cozy and the staff was friendly and attentive. My son and I stopped here for a late-lunch last Saturday afternoon while waiting to check into our motel in La Jolla. He wasn't hungry but I had the portobello sliders and a Rascal Brew - I really love those pale ales that taste like Coriander!!!! My food was good. Thee coolest part was the small environment, concrete bar tops, and the friendly service. I'm sorry I forget her name but she was so nice and talkative. My boyfriend and I stopped in here for lunch after finding it on Yelp, and we were very pleased. This is a little "hole in the wall" type restaurant that has a great atmosphere and great food! Seating is limited, and it was busy, so I recommend either taking it to go, or being patient and waiting for a seat to open up. We tried the pulled pork quesadilla, the surf and turf grilled cheese sandwich, and the BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp po boy sandwich, and it was all delicious! I live in Washington state, otherwise I would definitely frequent this place for a good lunch! If I find myself in the La Jolla area again I will definitely go back for more! read more

This is one of my favorite places to get lunch in the La Jolla area. I have called in my order several times and it is always ready to go when I get there and the customer service has always been warm and super friendly. I typically get the pot roast sandwich which is delicious and satisfying (although sometimes a bit heavy on the horseradish spread) and the burger is also good. Sometime I will have to come by for dinner and try out some of their other items (the lamb lollipops look great)! The decor in the little place is nice and there is a parking lot that usually has a spot available to park in. read more

As a long-time and frequent patron of the restaurant we locals call "P-Fork" or just "The Fork," I'm relieved the unpleasant Kurt S. swears he'll never eat there again. The joy of The Fork is that it is small and congenial--if you want a real-life "Cheers" experience, where everyone knows your name and both the patrons and staff care about each other, The Fork is the place to go. This atmosphere is a result of a layout that means everyone shares a space--it's a great place if you feel comfortable around convivial strangers. Granted, as much as I like it, it would not be my first choice for a quiet, romantic date : ) As for the food, like all restaurants, they can occasionally have an off-day. But when they are on, they are both creative and delicious, with a menu full of not-to-be-missed items like thick, juicy hamburgers on brioche buns, lamb lollipops, and specials ranging from poke to aged steak. If you're a vegetarian, they also have grilled vegetables and salads, and both a portobello and a mozzarella sandwich that can tempt even this die-hard carnivore. Great new place for La Jolla! Came here a few weekends ago; simple and nice place. The place is tiny but has lots of bar stools. I got the pot roast sandwich which was awesome! The pot roast was juicy, tender and full of flavor. The horseradish cream they add just tops it off. I would give this place five stars but I feel that their sides aren't as on par as the rest of the food. I ordered the sweet potato tots, which I was excited to try, but when they came out they were soggy and lacked flavor. It would be nice if they added fries to the sides menu. I drove by this place too many times to not give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. I have been there three times for lunch. Always a seat available, but like everyone says, its a small place. Plus I'm a solo diner at lunch. The guy running the register and taking orders is always super nice, always willing to help you out with some suggestions. So far I've had the pot roast sandwich, the best forkin' chicken sandwich, and the kahlua pig quesadilla. I would order the first two sandwiches every single time. I loved them both. They make a boring piece of chicken taste ridiculously good. And the pot roast sandwich has everything I love, beef, onions, horseradish. Perfect. I thought the quesadilla was good, though I'm not a huge fan of gouda. But that is a personal taste. I thought the pork was delicious. And the mac salad is awesome. I even stopped by the place and bought a huge portion of the mac salad to take home to eat with the bbq I was making that night. Count me as a big fan and you'll see me there once a week. Love this place. Always and adventure. Come sit at the long tables and get to know your neighbors. Sometimes the kitchen is a little slow when it gets busy, so plan for that.. This is our absolute favorite place when we want a quick bite. Sliders for the kids always a hit. Never had a bad thing off the menu. Consistently good! I've been to the PF a dozen times or so and the food always delivers. The salmon tacos are great and really pack a spicy kick...luckily there are six taps (and roughly 20 varieties in bottles) of local beers to help relieve the burn. I'm also a big fan of the grilled cessar salad, it's done perfectly with just enough time on the grill to pick up the flavor but not wilt the lettuce. The space is a bit small and the line can be long...but it's with it and the staff does a good job of keeping things moving. read more
