This place has been open for about a month and we decided to try it out - weren't expecting much to be honest. We were pleasantly surprised. Was it the best BBQ we've had? No. Was it in the upper level? Yes Wanting to try different meats I had the 3 meat plate. Burnt brisket ends - good - covered with a sauce that had a good flavor. Different (the sauce) than I'm used to when ordering burnt ends, but pretty good. I also had the pulled pork which had a really good flavor to it. Finally I tried 3 of the ribs which had a good texture and were tender and came off the bone but not over cooked. All very good. I tried their sweet BBQ sauce and the spicy. They were both pretty good. For sides I had the coleslaw which was surprisingly good - a mayo based coleslaw with a very good taste and texture. Finally, I tried the Brisket Beans which were pinto beans with pieces of brisket, a hint of cilantro and some spice in a bean broth. The taste was great but the beans were a bit overcooked and the bean to broth ratio was off (too much broth). Overall - good food. My wife tried the Loaded Mac with Chopped Brisket. She didn't care for the chopped brisket as it had the same sauce as the burnt brisket ends, so I ate the shredded brisket and she ate the pulled pork in the Mac. The Mac itself was prepared well and had good flavor and cheese. My 3-meat plate was a bit overpriced $26.00 and my wife's Mac was definitely overpriced at $11.00 for the small bowl. Overall, the food was good. Still not a big fan of eating dinner in a restaurant that's attached to a grocery store, but that's just me. If we are hungry and in the area we would go back.

This is a new BBQ joint at HEB and the food is excellent! The service has been a hit and miss which is why I gave them a 4 star.

Hometown Eats. What an exquisite little eatery/bakery! So happy to have found this place, which has…read morebeen under my nose for the past year apparently. Small, but comfortable place that has a few tables inside and out. Sell coffee and baked goods but also has a nice little breakfast/brunch menu. The owners ran the place and really seemed "happy" to see us, took time to walk us through the menu, offer suggestions, etc. just extremely "comfortable" place to be from the moment we walked through the door. My wife and I always pick two entrees and share. We went with the breakfast sandwich and the biscuits and gravy and we were not disappointed. The house made brioche bun for the sandwich and the biscuits were out-of-this-world delicious. Based on that, I would wager that the other baked goods they had displayed (scones, cinnamon rolls, etc) would have been wonderful! (I'll be back soon to confirm this) Back to the food...the sandwich was very good- egg was perfectly "over hard" and high quality cheese and bacon. The maple-chipotle mayo absolutely made the bite. Next time I will ask for extra, maybe slathered on both halves of the bun. The flavor of that mayo was unlike anything I've tasted- thoroughly enjoyed it and it complimented the overall flavor of the sandwich so well. Delicious!!! As already mentioned the biscuits were outstanding...which is not something that I say lightly. While I will always try biscuits and gravy, I am usually disappointed and it is typically because of biscuits that are too dense and too dry. These were neither- they were incredible and I'm not sure what gave them the touch of "sweet" but that little touch took the flavor of the biscuit over the top for me. Finally, the gravy was perfect from the amount of sausage to the elegant "sage-iness" of the bite. With respect to the quantity of gravy, it is not uncommon for places to not give enough gravy. The ratio of gravy to biscuit must be difficult to master, well they've done it at Northern D'Lights!! Just incredible experience and we will be back, on the regular! Give this place a go...great place!

My husband got the breakfast bowl with egg, veggies, and bacon. We were the only ones there which for barely 7:30am is understandable, the man behind the counter was very nice and friendly. Over all we loved the quiet breakfast to kick off our morning and will definitely be back.

The moment you step inside, the noise outside fades into something warmer -- replaced by the hum of conversation, bursts of laughter, and the comforting rhythm of a place full of life. From the kitchen comes the constant symphony of sizzling grills, clanging pans, and ice tumbling into glasses, all blending together into the kind of atmosphere that feels alive rather than loud. It's the sound of comfort. And then there's the smell -- sweet maple syrup drifting through the air, butter melting slowly over stacks of golden flapjacks, fresh coffee brewing somewhere nearby.
