Told her and she made a few recommendations and ended up getting the bbq sandwich with chips and a drink. Food was good, plenty of seating space, including outside. This place has been open for about a month and we decided to try it out - weren't expecting much to be honest. We were pleasantly surprised. Was it the best BBQ we've had? No. Was it in the upper level? Yes Wanting to try different meats I had the 3 meat plate. Burnt brisket ends - good - covered with a sauce that had a good flavor. Different (the sauce) than I'm used to when ordering burnt ends, but pretty good. I also had the pulled pork which had a really good flavor to it. Finally I tried 3 of the ribs which had a good texture and were tender and came off the bone but not over cooked. All very good. I tried their sweet BBQ sauce and the spicy. They were both pretty good. For sides I had the coleslaw which was surprisingly good - a mayo based coleslaw with a very good taste and texture. Finally, I tried the Brisket Beans which were pinto beans with pieces of brisket, a hint of cilantro and some spice in a bean broth. The taste was great but the beans were a bit overcooked and the bean to broth ratio was off (too much broth). Overall - good food. My wife tried the Loaded Mac with Chopped Brisket. She didn't care for the chopped brisket as it had the same sauce as the burnt brisket ends, so I ate the shredded brisket and she ate the pulled pork in the Mac. The Mac itself was prepared well and had good flavor and cheese. My 3-meat plate was a bit overpriced $26.00 and my wife's Mac was definitely overpriced at $11.00 for the small bowl. Overall, the food was good. Still not a big fan of eating dinner in a restaurant that's attached to a grocery store, but that's just me. If we are hungry and in the area we would go back. read more

We are excited that the Schertz 3009 Restaurant is back open. This time it is True Texas BBQ. We ordered the two plate meal. I ordered brisket and turkey with creme corn and coleslaw and my husband the two plate with brisket and sausage with fried okra and potato salad. The food tasted very delicious and well seasoned. Wasn't aware that this place was attached to HEB...when you walk in you have the choice to order from the kiosk or from the smiling faces awaiting you at the counter,they offer spacious dining,both indoor and outdoor seating and TVs with games on.The food came out in a pretty short amount of time and was very good! I got the burnt ends which were a tad bit less tender than I like and weren't piping hot like I like but overall a very nice visit and would do it again. read more

We had mac 'n cheese, coleslaw, potato salad and brisket beans as our sides; they were all delicious, with the brisket beans being the best of 'em. Went at 6:53 and they were out of potatoes. First guy said they were out for the night and could not get more. A resturant owned by,HEB at HEB cant get more potatoe?. Then the 2nd guy who came to help the first guy give us a refund said they did have some but it took an hour and a half to make the small potatoes. REALY? If corporate wants to know why thier stores not doing well, management and poor training. And never order the nachos, small and poorly made. read more

The quality is exceptional I checked out the ingredients book. I greatly liked the brisket beans and potato salad. However the lean brisket was cold right when I got it at 2:51p and it was like dry or less appealing.. maybe... umm I've had at other location. This is a new BBQ joint at HEB and the food is excellent! The service has been a hit and miss which is why I gave them a 4 star.

Heard the hype so we went tonight at 6:30 pm to check it out. Not impressed. Brisket was very dry. Creamed corn was thick as if it had sat in the heat all day and had a sour taste to it. My chopped brisket baked potato was barely warm (both the potato and the chopped brisket) to where the cheese and butter didn't even melt. My wife's pulled pork potato was the same. Both potatoes were also dense as if they too had sat around for some time. The couple sitting at the table next to us also sent their food back for being cold. Maybe it was just an off night but I am not sure I will try them again with the cost of BBQ what it is. read more
