Dulce used to be an easy 5 star business and is now a 3.5 star since staff took over ownership. The same 5-star products and great staff- but the new philosophy is to run out of things at noon or before, and stay open til 3. The POINT of a bakery is that ingredients are cheap and you're spending 10 cents to make something you sell for $5. So you CAN make enough for all and get larger profit EVEN IF you may end up with 'extras' at the end of the day. There were no fewer than 6 people who walked in for the just-10-minutes while I was there at 2 PM to be greeted by not a single pastry on the shelves, and two of them turned around immediately after walking in. After driving all the way over for the items this business sells...I know the feeling. IMAGINE how much money (& return loyalty) is lost every day. I fear that will have a long term effect, the more people let it sink in that 'they're probably out of what you went there to buy' a good 3-4 hours before closing time. Still love this place and all the goodies they make... I'd just like to be able to buy those great baked goods far more often, within the reasonably expected business hours. The rum caramel bread pudding is MIND ALTERING, the Cardamom Coffee Cake is DELIRIUM GIVING, the 'Birdie' is my favorite coffee drink in town, and everyone knows the blueberry muffins (including the gluten free ones) are the best around! Let's hope they return to a commitment to Quantity as WELL as Quality! read more

Consistently fresh and tasty pastries, cakes and pies. I enjoy coming to Dulce for their fantastic scones and muffins. The coffee menu is extensive, too. Everything is perfectly baked and delicious. I've found the quality of baked goods and coffee drinks served at Dulce go from so good to puzzlingly disappointing since ownership changed. Now, I can only comment on the regular items I pickup, so if you read this, bare that in mind. Recently, I've experienced partially unbaked croissants, over baked and smaller than normal blueberry muffins, and burnt cheese danish. I was also surprised and upset that a new menu item, spinach feta croissant was not advertised as using goat cheese feta, which I can't stomach so I had to toss out after the first bite. For the drinks, The last few times I ordered a 16oz latte, the cups have been 1/3 foam or if I ordered something flavored, it was so sweet that you could barely taste the espresso. I miss the quality from before but I'm hoping what I've experienced might just be a fluke. read more

When living in Santa Fe, I frequented Dulce Capital. Their coffee and pastries are delicious and service is always friendly. When selecting a wedding cake, my husband and I ordered a red velvet from Dulce because the bakery holds a special place in our hearts. We stopped into this little coffee shop during a leg of our road trip to grab a light snack, drink, and catch up emails. They have free WIFI which was very helpful. This place is super cute with vivid walls and large scale tempting treat art on the walls to match the cheerfulness of the place. It is a very clean and energizing space. They make all their yummy treats in house. The chocolate cake was supposed to be award winning, per the gentleman behind the counter, so we got a slice to go. I wanted something lighter so I opted to eat the lemon meringue tart with the iced hibiscus and rose tea while I typed away. The tart was delectable! It reminded me of my grandmother's pie she used to make, except the meringue was softer and had a creamy consistency. My partner opted for the lemon ginger scone and said it was really good with chunks of citrus in it. The little one got the chocolate cupcake and it was gone in the blink of an eye. "Did you enjoy that?" I asked. The reply was a wide eyed exaggerated shaking yes of the head. They did have quiche which looked really good as well, if you want something more savory. After getting down the road a bit we tried the cake. OH my my - this dark rich slice was straight out of diet hell. It did take us 3 days to eat one slice as it was very dense and rich. I loved the slight bitterness of the frosting and its texture was remarkable. I see why it got voted the best! Really glad we stopped in here. It was a perfect break on our long road trip! read more

Dulce has changed the menu a bit, but there are some new and outstanding items, like the breakfast burritos. They are perfect. The pumpkin spice latte with homemade pumpkin cream is a new surprising favorite and a far cry from the fake pumpkin flavor at other establishments if you know what I mean. It is what it is and I bought him breakfast from the day old basket. I didn't have an exceptional experience, but I had a good one... and I will be back to try it again, undoubtedly. Update: back several times now and it's consistently decent. Cookies are totally skippable. Quiche is solidly decent but a 10 minute wait for is is less so. I miss Dennis and Kirk... The new owner has tried to keep the classic goodness the previous owners accomplished to perfection, but as always a new owner thinks they can change things and skimp on the fine details that made this quaint bakery so amazing. I have tried a couple of times to support the new owner as I would love for her to succeed, but after today, I won't be back. I could adjust to her changing the hours, I could even adjust to less bakery item choices, but the cinnamon rolls are disappointing. They were overdone and dry, but the WORST is that she cuts them in half and sells a half as a whole cinnamon roll.....If you need to cut corners by cheapening the size, maybe making them smaller would be better than selling half a roll as one...OR on your sign, maybe say 1/2 cinnamon roll $4.00. I thought it was odd the cinnamon rolls were not in the bakery case, but kept behind the scenes and honestly the ones you can get at Sam's or Walmart are better choices if you want moist and fresh. Don't waste your money here...or if you do want to support this new business owner just be sure to lower your expectations. My out of town friend wouldn't even eat her half cinnamon roll after making attempt to freshen in up in microwave. For her it wasn't worth the calories... I gave this two stars because thankfully the lemon ginger scone, always one of my favorites, doesn't appear to have been changed much. Hoping she doesn't start cutting these in half... I am sorry about writing a bad review, but I hope the new Dulce owner will realize how important it is to keep the quality and reputation of what Kirk and Dennis meticulously built up to the high standards they insisted upon for over ten years. read more

Wow the flourless chocolate cake is great! My wife had a gluten free banana walnut muffin that was excellent. We also had coffee, mine was an organic Sumatra coffee, which was excellent. Urg... I'd like to give them at least 4 stars, but I can't. Forgetting about someone's order for over 40 minutes is simply unforgiveable. I ordered a quiche and was told it would be about 10 minutes. So I sat down and started working on my project while sipping my nice cup of coffee. With my stomach rumbling, I noticed 40min had passed. After consulting with the guy at the counter, they needed to warm another piece, so I had to wait another 10min, or so we hope. Apparently the original quiche was forgotten and left in the warmer. It was a tad overly warm by this time. Note to the kitchen staff: GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER. At the kitchen store, there is this magic device which you can set for a given time (say 10-min) and when that time expires, it makes noise (beep, beep). Its called a kitchen timer. GET ONE! (This paragraph was written while hangry.) Luckily, the service staff brought the 2nd piece to my table within 10 minutes (an hour after I ordered it). But now my coffee cup is nearly empty and cold. So how was the quiche? Good. Nice thin, flaky, flavorful crust with plenty of mushrooms, sausage, etc. maybe a tad on the salty side, but most food in Santa Fe is salty (must be the altitude). I went last Sunday and got the green chile bacon breakfast burrito and man it was the best burrito I've ever had in the south west. The eggs tasted straight outta my grandmas chicken coop, the bacon was cooked perfectly with the right crisp but not overly crunchy like most places do in New Mexico. The hospitality was 5 you can definitely tell the cooks and the whole staff are happy and passionate about their jobs. The coffee, chai tea, and pastries are highly recommended as well !!! read more

I moved in nearby a few months ago, and have been stopping in regularly as part of my morning walk (hey, it's exercise even if it ends with a sweet treat, right?) I always have an eye out due to COVID for places with spread-out seating inside and preferably a bit of seating outdoors, and Dulce has both. Granted they're in a parking lot so the seating isn't gorgeous but it is in the shade! Since I'm new, I've had questions (are there raisins in that, etc.) and they've been knowledgeable and patient. Highly recommend the raisin-free bread pudding (hard to find), the cheesecake and the cookies, but everything I've gotten has been good. read more

Best Staff, Management, and Bakery in Santa Fe Owners Kurt and Dennis have worked their tails off to make this bakery one of the BEST institutions in Santa Fe. The almond croissants make your mouth water. Kieren is a master barista. Even Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory could never perfect such a cappuccino. Steve is back after a long hiatus. The entire kitchen staff and front end staff really make this place a fun treat in the morning or afternoon. I wish I could name them ALL in this review! The place is immaculately clean. So disappointed. This used to be a great bakery, albeit with sub-par customer service (primarily a badly organized checkout system that caused longer waits than necessary). Went for the first time to try it with the new owners. Got my favorite oatmeal chocolate chip coconut cookie. Since you can't dine in, I waited to eat it after I got in my car. It was inedible -- hard as a hockey puck. And the raised the price on it, so with a tip I paid nearly three dollars for an inedible cookie. If not for COVID times, I would have gone back in to complain, so I am doing so here and hope the owners see this and make adjustments. I went here because the people at clafloutis went on vacation and closed. I'm sure glad they decided to take their vacation during my visit and I ended up at Dulce. The cafe is bright and the decor is super cute. The staff is super friendly. The blueberry muffin I had was amazing. The blueberries were huge and super juicy. They would pop in your mouth with each bite. The huge sugar crystals on top were a delicious added touch. White mocha was also great. Highly recommend this coffee shop! Don't order the soy latte. Tastes like bleck. The soy they use is Trader Joe's brand. If you want a good tasting soy latte, go to Chocolate Maven or Sage Bakehouse. They obviously use a higher quality soy milk. I'll ask them the next time I go there. read more
