Damn! They have a new springtime favorites menu here. This may just be the tastiest meal I've had in months! Pan seared shrimp, chorizo, fried okra, green onion and a green chile pesto sauce. We have loved this place for years and ate there about 3 times a month. In the last 2 years the food quality has been mixed. My kid with celiacs had never gotten sick there and now he can't eat there. When you order something gluten free and tell the server you have celiacs and they bring out your order with wheat tortillas on top you can't eat it. Forget about asking them to fix it they just take it back toss the tortillas and bring it back. So now your contaminated as it only take a crumb to make you sick which looks like 3 to 4 days of diarrhea abdominal cramping , nausea , and extreme fatigue for a week. The Range on Wyoming Blvd keeps delivering generous portions of tasty & substantial vittles. New Mexican specialties or classic American diner fare, the crew has you covered. While the prices seem to have gone up a fair bit from my last visit (as everywhere it seems these days), the quality of the food keeps the value factor high. Twenty plus seniors descended on this emporium of gastronomical goodness for lunch and were lucky enough to get Debby as our waitress. She did a super job getting everyone seated, watered, coffee'ed, orders taken, food delivered, checks paid, etc. All with a friendly enthusiastic demeanor. A truly wonderful server! While their menu is broad and diverse, I finally settled on a $12 blue corn enchilada (beans & green rice included) with the $3 carne adovada upgrade and green as the chile of choice, a $3 cuppa joe for hydration, and a $7 slice of their apple green chile pie & whipped cream as a wrap-up round to the meal. I may have been a bit over enthusiastic, since I was mega-full by the time I finished the whole thing. Coffee was good on taste, though not the cup that triggers angelic choirs proclaiming Hallelujah from the rafters. Initial round arrived piping hot and Debby did a very conscientious job topping it up throughout our meal. So no tepid caffeination today. Blue corn enchilada was well stuffed with carne adovada. Blue corn tortilla was moist & pliable, not baked dry & crisp, so easily cut with a fork. Mr Knife was confined to waiting on the bench throughout. Cheese layer was middle of the pack on generosity, gooeyness , and flavor. Green chile was spankin' the smack out of the Scoville scale. Danged hot & spicy, but bringin' on the taste o' green that is so adored in this corner of the world. Beans were excellent on plump texture, tasty, & not very spicy. Green rice was cooked just right - al dente toothy, not hard or mushy - and had good flavor from whatever the green herb was. Apple green chile pie arrived stuffed with substantial hunks o' fruit that ran toward the solid end of the scale, making dessert a pleasant departure from the canned half mushy commercial apple filling usually found in diner pies. Filling was stronger on nutmeg & clove flavors than normal, which is a fine adjustment to my tongue. Crust was fine tasting & tender. More "fork only" fare. I appreciated the crumble topping on the pie slice vs the typical upper crust capping layer. However, the green chile flavor & heat was pretty much totally AWOL. So I'm not too certain I'd repeat on this particular flavor of pie again, given the range & depth of tasty desserts they offer. So stop in, fill up, & waddle out the door well fed & happy. read more

We ordered from them on DoorDash during a drive cross country. We got chip and queso, Mac and cheese with green chile, and blue corn enchiladas. Everything was awesome, and the portions were huge. We also got some of their tropical green iced tea--very flavorful. In hindsight, we should have skipped the appetizer because of the portion size; we still had a half plate of the Mac and cheese left when we stopped eating, even though it was delicious. The green chile added some nice depth and brightness, and the cheese was very creamy. I'd like to explore their menu a bit further some day. read more

I was so Tired from shopping and felt like landing at a comfortable place to eat. What else but The Range on Wyoming!! There's always something comforting to eat there. This time I decided to try something new. It was their Blackened Salmon dish. Here in Albuquerque it's hard to find a good true Blackened fish dish. What I got was very good but had so much stuff on top of it that you couldn't hardly find the salmon or taste the distinctive flavor of Blackening. Plus, the salmon and extra stuff was on top of a type of rice cake patty with a sauce over everything. It also had fresh whole green beans and sun dried tomatoes. The green beans still had their stems on which I kept biting off. This dish was very good but if you're really in the mood for an honest Blackened fish dish - this isn't it. The food had great presentation and the service was wonderful. Another customer got the same thing and she said the same thing. I would have liked it better if the Blackened salmon had been "separated" from the rice cake patty, green beans, sun dried tomatoes with all the sauce. My server, Leslie, was so sweet and courteous. I did let her know about the green bean stems which should have been removed. For this they gave me a complimentary banana pudding dessert. read more

I'm still a huge fan but it's slid a little in the past month or so, unfortunately. We've ventured out a bit more on the menu and have discovered their nachos which are out of this world. If you want a literal trough of nachos, then get the grande. I'm not even joking. It could easily feed 3-4. It's delicious though and literally the only time EVER my hubby will actually order nachos. He's normally not a fan but he LOVES these ones. They're super fresh, the cheese is delicious, delicious salsa, guac, etc. The green chile stew is next level. I know it's been 90-100 degrees and I still don't care. When you want it, you want it. That's how New Mexicans roll. This will be a staple in the winter though - it's probably some of the best I've had in a very long time. Loaded with veggies, chicken, and a good amount of heat - it's perfect. Your out of town guests who don't like spicy food might think it's atomic fire but locals who like heat, it's the perfect balance of flavor and just hot enough IMO. Unfortunately though, the last few times we've ordered takeout it's been wrong or things are missing. We don't do fancy substitutions or anything bizarre but it's consistently been wrong lately which is lame. Things like missing a salad, a small soup instead of a large (we like to split it for a quick lunch), and it doesn't seem they're doing the tamper proofing that they were. That part I can understand since it's likely pretty expensive but they set the bar pretty high early on. All in all, the place still rocks and has quality food so definitely worth checking out and supporting during this tough times. read more

The Range Cafe is one of my favorite places for breakfast and or brunch with a particular New Mexican spice! Their menu ranges from the traditional American breakfast items to the flavorful enchiladas, spicy carne adovada, and smothered burritos. I have tried everything from their breakfast burritos, blue corn pancakes (A MUST), Rey's Nachos, and the tequila shrimp tacos, to name a few. You can't go wrong with these options at all. Range Cafe is one of the places I would use to show foreigners/friends from out of state what the New Mexican cuisine is like. For example, I took my friends from Canada in December and my friends from Chihuahua in October and everyone was absolutely happy with their food, satisfied, and even impressed. read more

The Range Cafe is the most eclectic restaurant with a delightfully flavor filled menu! They do not disappoint when it comes to breakfast (lunch and dinner too) with an array of burritos, enchiladas, egg plates and pastries. I appreciate that they had available gluten free bread and I enjoyed it toasted with the Deputy egg plate from the kids menu (it's not just for kids!). Thank you for offering that Range Cafe! It came with one egg, two slices of bacon or sausage and the mooost delicious breakfast potato on earth! They looked so good that I ate them up and forgot to snap a picture of them. Went to dinner with the hubby and had my heart set on the impossible burger #veggieforlife They did not have any!!! Side rant warning!! Now that Burger King is selling the impossible burger they are making it near impossible for smaller chains to carry the product... stupid Burger King.... Ok, back to The Range! Or server Clarissa was fabulous!! She helped me find something else on the menu that I would like, being a rather picky eater this is no small task, she was patient worked with me. I settled with the Calabacitas tacos. They were really good and came with black beans, rice, guacamole and some other spice sauce that Clarissa had them put on the side. My hubby got his favorite their meatloaf and mashed potatoes. To finish we got the peanut butter banana cream pie!! Omg!!! It was so good just the right about of peanut butter and banana and chocolate of course!! Clarissa also asked if I would be willing to fill out a comment card. I of course said yes. And let the owners know they need more vegetarian options on the menu. All in all they get 4 stars witch is in a huge part to Clarissa being awesome!! read more

A good local New Mex cuisine place in Albuquerque. It's a bit of a diner atmosphere with excellent NM food. Red, Green, Christmas and Divorced all available. Great service from a friendly staff. Omg I'm obsessed with desserts!!! I found this place and went specifically for the pecan rolls and did not disappoint!! We also had a brownie and chocolate cake!!!! Will definitely be the place for desserts!!! Update: finally had a change to try dine in and did not disappoint. Our waiter was very friendly and never let me run out of drink that's a big thing for me. I had the beef tacos!!! I can't deny I was a little worried about ordering this but they proved me wrong! Drop Wednesday morning for breakfast with my wife. It had been a yaer plus since our last visit which was nice and why we were back. Appearance was the same despite an ownership change. Menu items seem the same but with much higher pricing. I would like to say we enjoyed our selves again, but sadly not the case. while the eggs and toast were warm, the potatoes were cool and coated with oil. The French toast was disapointing to the point my wife did not finish her serving. The wait person was very nice when available despite few other customers. Terrible key lime pie. Truly. The Mac and cheese was ok for me. If there wasn't green chile in it- no flavor from the cheese. Nada. The green chile strips were ok for who I went to dinner with. We appreciated that the Range and our server was able to make everything for the Nachos no-onion (family member is dealt by allergic. 4 ER visits this year deadly). They also did the no onion for the green chile strips plate as well. Server was great. On point for the allergies. The Range on Wyoming is my go to. I worked at theOG Range when it was back across Wyoming hidden away in the corner. That was when it was us and bernalillo locations only. I am giving them a solid 4. It's really hard setting in a parking lot when the inside appears to be so cute! As a recent transplant from CA (March 2020) I ordered fish tacos which I guess is like ordering New Mexican food in San Diego. The overall presentation was good and they were large. The Kim Che style cabbage wasn't super spicy. Biggest error was fish tacos are served with a slaw style mayo based sauce as well as salsa. Came with cocktail sauce and tarter sauce. You lose the hip factor with this. It's like saying no we don't have salsa we have ketchup. I have to say other than the accompaniments all was very good and fries are to die for. Was seated promptly, ordered grapefruit juice (not freshly squeezed), cinnamon roll, and huevos rancheros with carne adovada and both chiles. SO much food, cinnamon roll was huge and tasty, huevos rancheros was delicious. Also came with tortilla, potatoes, beans. Chile was tasty, although could've come with more. Starting out bad, hostess was not friendly turned worse from there our server was not fast or friendly. She took her time getting to us and it wasn't because she was busy. When she did take our order she stared out the window. I was ready to leave at that point but my wife and I stayed. This is just about the service and about two associates that we had the misfortune of getting. My advice is, don't sit up towards the front where you can see the counter. The food is normally good. It looks like some customers service training is required for a couple of the employees. We won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Best chicken fried steak that I have had in years!! Fresh, crispy coating not too thick or thin, tender steak, great white gravy but offer brown gravy as well. Mashed potatoes were delicious, real! They have amazing fresh deserts. Chocolate coconut crème pie, had to get mine to go because I was so full. A ton of great desserts freshly made (cheesecake, bread pudding, key lime pie). I can't remember the last time I have visited a restaurant for breakfast/lunch/dinner and walked away impressed by the food AND the service! I really liked that I was able to make a reservation for a Sunday morning. A day that normally puts you on the wait list for any good restaurant. The Blue Corn Pancakes were probably the best pancakes I have ever had! The added touch of blueberries and piñon nuts made them even more delicious. I could have eaten just the pancakes and left satisfied but I like to try a variety so I have more to look forward to for next time. I also ordered the Kitchen Sink omelette and it was just ok. Normally I'm ok with a little cream cheese in an omelette but this day the omelette oozed cream cheese and made the omelette a little off putting. I would much prefer it to ooze with cheese or green Chile and the Wheat toast, that comes with the omelette, never made it to the table. I was looking forward to my Dirty Chai but it tasted mostly of chocolate and weak coffee. Not what I was expecting based on other Dirty Chais I have had from other establishments. As you enter the establishment you are greeted with a bakery case filled with mouth watering delicacies. We ordered one cinnamon roll for the table and one more to go. Delicious! Our server, Steven, was one of the nicest servers I have ever met. He was attentive and considerate and accommodating and an all around friendly guy. It was a pleasure to have been served by him. The Range Cafe is a local gem. The plates are large enough to split (see photo) if needed. But what you don't want to split is the big mimosa. Keep that one all to yourself =) Oh and on the way out, grab something fresh, like the bread pudding. read more
