We went there last week for my 65th birthday dinner, and it was worth it. I had the New York, while my wife had Filet Mignon. Both were great, but the Filet was the best. The first time I ate at the Range was a couple of years ago. I was blown away by the excellent food. Saturday night was a different story. The steaks were tough and full of gristle. The $20 shrimp cocktail came with 4 shrimp. That works out to $5 a shrimp! The plating of the main course left a lot to be desired as well. An average sized steak was placed next to a small assortment of steamed vegetables; the plate needed a garnish of some sort to set off the food. The service was attentive and gracious but that didn't make up for poor quality food. I expected much more considering the price of the meal. This is a solid steakhouse that could stand on its own outside of a casino. The service is borderline formal but they try to be pretty friendly and personal, too, for better or worse. Good apps, especially the lobster cake that comes with the crabcake in the duo. Fine salads, no complaints. The steaks are high quality delicious meat with a well-seasoned sear, especially the prime rib and ribeye. Try the blackened seasoning. And the chocolate soufflé is to die for! read more

I made a reservation on opentable for this restaurant to take my mother-in-law to celebrate mother's day. Despite having a reservation we were first seated in the overflow room with no view. After my husband spoke to the hostess about it we were seated right by the entrance when other tables with a better view were empty. We asked to upgrade one salad to a soup but we were charged the full price for the soup and received two full salads instead. The two fish dishes were dry and very subpar for the price. Also, we specifically made a reservation for this restaurant because online it said they offered souffles but when asked if they had souffles the server said they didn't. It was a disappointing experience. The quality of the food and service was disappointing for the price point. We will never return to this restaurant after this experience. read more

Its getting better and better... We ate there a couple of times again on our most recent trip last week. While we have been consistently disappointed in the past, our dinners there this time met expectations. This is not by any means a top tier steak house but we really appreciated their improvement over the last couple of years. It is overpriced for what it is so be sure to find some promotions, etc... It gets busy on certain nights so be sure to get reservations early. They are on OpenTable. The best food in Laughlin remains, by far, the Gourmet Room at the Riverside. Its about the same price but the food, service, and atmosphere are far superior. Just don't stay in their old, ugly, dusty, dark hotel! Stay somewhere else, like Harrahs, but be sure to take a river taxi one night down to the Gourmet Room. read more

Both on the website and when I called for reservations I was told of the dress code "business casual".... Not impressed at all. Their seared tuna was fatty and came with salsa, which was weird. The prime rib was what you would get at black angus. For $34 for a piece of meat it should be a better quality. The garlic mashed potatoes were regular mashed potatoes with a few pieces of garlic on top. They either need to lower their prices or upgrade their food. read more

This place is right on the river so it has a classy ambiance but you can dress casual and fit right in with the people who've been playing in the water and sun all day. I was excited about having a great meal after being in the sun all day and gambling. The food was okay not worth the price. My husband ordered his steak medium rare it came well done waiter apologized said new one would be 3 min, I was 1/2 way through my meal when it finally came 10-15 min later. Stayed at Harrah's the week of the 20th. First time here and won't be our last. My wife and I dined here and both weren't disappointed! Service was impeccable! We had 2-3 waiters catering to us. Best $40 Porter House I've ever had! Worth the money, trust me. River view, service and quality cow, made the experience memorable for my wife and I. Jorge was the head waiter if not mistaken. Seriously this place is so amazing. The lobster bisque was thick and creamy, my filet oscar was cooked to perfection and the truffle mac and cheese and roasted garlic potatoes were fantastic. We treated the whole family to a meal on the 27th and no one had mentioned that they were closing. However, we did eat at Baja Blue as well and they did mention that they would be closing and a new Guy Frieri eatery was coming in. I've reviewed this place a couple of times recently and this time the experience was back to what we had to come to expect. The service is always top notch and the location is one of the best on the river. Everyone's food was prepared to their liking. The Chef's Special was a nice cut of fillet with a veggie medley and potato. Don't ask to sub anything as this seems to screw up the chef. Still don't understand this part for a restaurant of this caliber. But oh well. Overall though, it was a good experience, the food and service was as expected and if the rumors aren't true that they have closed, I'm sure we will eat there again soon. read more

Have been here a couple of times and the food is generally ok. Ate there last night and had the surf n turf with there onion soup and bottle of champagne. My server smelled like cigarettes and was not attentive. The champagne was warm the soup was Luke warm and the lobster was over cooked. Did i mention they were not busy but every empty table had food on it and was never bussed. I dont think i will be back. We love Harrahs but this is by no means a 5 star steakhouse. read more

Second visit. Main course lamb chops. Very flavorful. BUT, this restaurant is billed as a steak house. One would naturally assume that the emphasis would be on the quality of the meat. However, It came covered in sauce. The lamb flavor was disguised. Broiled lamb chops can be a real treat. The restaurant is a nice place to eat, the waiter was very good and attentive to our table, Appetizer I had the Caribbean Scallops, they were all good except one that was a slight bit charred, the shrimp scampi was ok not the best thing on the menu. My main was the Sea Bass, which was awesome, and cooked perfect, the sauce was a great complement with the linguine it was served on. All in all it was a great place to eat new years dinner.
