The veal was incredibly tender, and the gravy was packed with flavor. It was a satisfying entrée that came with two sides. For my sides, I chose the pierogies and spätzle. The pierogies were honestly my favorite part of the meal. They were fluffy, cheesy, and generously filled. So delicious. I could have eaten a whole plate of just those. The spätzle was soft and well prepared, but compared to everything else, I found it a little boring. The restaurant itself is very cute and has a lot of character. I loved browsing the selection of German snacks, candy, and other imported items available for purchase. It added to the overall experience and made the place feel unique. While I'm not that familiar with German food, I thought this was a pretty good restaurant. Overall, I found German cuisine a little more muted than what I'm personally used to, but I still really enjoyed the meal and the experience. I'd be interested in trying more of the menu.

I had such high hopes for this place. :( The selection is very limited and perhaps I missed something (entirely possible), but I did not see a price list for the deli case. We did find a unique assortment of other German products- some we haven't seen in many years. The restaurant portion was quite busy and the customers looked happy. We were flooded with nostalgia and left in hopes of dining in on a less-busy day. I ordered two meats, including the German bologna. During the drive home, my family and I noticed a terrible odor-- the kind where we started pointing fingers at one another. We never suspected that the package from the deli was the source. When we opened it at home, a nauseatingly funky, ammonia-type smell came from the German bologna. While the liverwurst smelled okay, I could not trust it after the bologna and decided against keeping it. Wasted time and money. Dang! The staff is super nice and that was truly a plus. However, I doubt we will be back. My family is very bummed over this.

I am so glad I came here again. I visited a Sunday evening. It was a bit crowded, but a sign said I…read morecould sit myself anywhere. So I sat in the bar. A bartender greeted me and gave me water. For my drink, I took the chocolate old fashioned (13 dollars). It was strong enough and chocolatly to enjoy. For my main plate, I chose the chicken wings (10 for 17 dollars), half fat rabbit sauce (quite garlicky) and other half siracha. While the wings were not breaded, they were still fried. It was definitely crispy, but still meaty and tender. The sauces were flavorful, and the siracha had the right amount of heat. The ranch dressing was homemade and so good, I ended up drinking it. There could have been more celery, but it was fresh and crispy. They only had one dessert, and unfortunately it wasn't homemade, so I passed. My bartender was friendly, but busy. She had a helper, but lots of patrons to serve. Yet, she was still very nice and helpful when needed. The vibe is social and casual. I would have thought they would have more USF students, but mostly locals who are enjoying a good atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available as well, and it looks like you can bring your pooch too. When it was time to check out and pay, I noticed they forgot to charge me for my drink. When I mentioned that, they told me not to worry about it. It was a very nice gesture from them. Parking here is easy as it is located in the Publix complex. There is also a Don Julio's and Bundt Cakes nearby for dessert too. The Fat Rabbit pub provides great casual bar food in a social atmosphere. The indoor dining is large enough to feel comfortable, and outdoor seating is also there if you want to enjoy with your dog. I am glad I chose this place again as it was near my hotel. Definitely coming back for more great bar food at reasonable prices. Overall: A

Located next to where The Hummingbird Jerkhouse used to be, this hidden gem delivers an experience far beyond a great meal. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere stood out. The restaurant was impeccably clean, warm, inviting, and carried the kind of genuine Italian charm that immediately makes you feel welcome. The service was simply exceptional- attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about ensuring every guest has a memorable experience. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish tasted fresh, authentic, and thoughtfully prepared, showcasing flavors that transported us straight to Italy. What truly elevated the afternoon, however, was the chef personally coming to our table to discuss the menu, ingredients, and inspirations behind the dishes. That level of hospitality and pride in the food transformed a great dinner into an unforgettable experience. In a city filled with dining options, it's rare to find a place that excels in every category--food, service, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality but this restaurant accomplishes exactly that. Tampa locals who appreciate authentic Italian cuisine owe it to themselves to visit. Whether you're planning a date night, family dinner, or simply craving a truly remarkable meal, this place should be at the top of your list. Hidden gem? Absolutely. Worth the visit? Without question. We'll be back again and again!
