Thursdays at The Red Chickz is too good to pass up! $2 per Chicken Strip is amazing! They are not just any chicken strip, they are quite big and packed with flavor. The seasoning on them is so tasty. I seriously enjoyed them. I also got Texas Toast and Donut Holes. They were awesome too! They were busy when I went which is always a good sign. Means they are popular for good food. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant itself was super clean. I love all the quotes and sayings on the walls. The staff were awesome! Everyone I encountered was really nice. I gotta go back and try some other items since I seriously enjoyed the strips!

Not going to lie, I definitely died a bit when I tried this place. Turns out, I've never had dry rub spicy heat before and it is definitely not the same as wet sauce spice. Learned that the hard way. Once the initial shock faded, I did still enjoy our meal. Overall, my guy and I both thought the chicken was just a bit above average, despite having a higher cost. HOWEVER, they only provide 1 small thing of sauce! That is soo rude and upsetting! Just have large tubs of sauce available for people if the individual packets are too expensive. Also, for what we paid, they could've at least given a decent slice of bread instead of a sad slice of wonder bread. Chicken is 3.5, but rounding down because of the lack of sauce included.

The best, crunchiest, and juiciest chicken tenders I've ever had! They're always so fresh and piping hot when served, no matter what day or time it is. We've gone here several times and the quality of their food never wavers. Everything we've had here has always been so delicious--from the chicken tenders, to the sides and milkshakes... it's all *chef's kiss*! I will always, always come back to Red Chickz. If you're a chicken tenders kind of person, you definitely have to come here.

The honey butter chicken sandwich is elite, especially when you add that Strawberry Milkshake!! the tenders have the perfect crunch and the Mac n Cheese is awesome. They've got $2 Tenders on Thursdays. The staff brought the energy and made it some of the most fun I've had in a long time. Overall this place is fire and I'll definitely be back.

Yes!!!! And damn, the chicken, shrimp, and cauliflower at The Red Chickz really are as crunchy as they claim. I've been a hot chicken fan ever since my production team and I worked the CMAs over a decade ago, so I know good hot chicken when I taste it. The seasoning here is savory, addictive, and absolutely delicious. Now, full disclosure: I love hot chicken... but hot chicken does not love me. So I always order their Cool (no heat) version, and every single time it is fantastic. Their tenders are beautifully crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and generously sized. They're so substantial that you can easily make a full sandwich out of them , especially if you add their delicious Texas toast. And let's talk about the shrimp: these are not little shrimp. They are basically the size of prawns, and honestly, some of the best fried shrimp I've had in North County. I'd even say they're better than what I've had at some seafood spots nearby. But my absolute favorite thing on the menu? The cauliflower.As a kid, I never liked cauliflower, but The Red Chickz completely changed my mind. Their cauliflower is outrageously good , crunchy, flavorful, and seriously craveable. Lately, I've been perfectly happy ordering just the cauliflower, Texas toast, and fries because it's that good. A few more standouts: Fries: thick, hearty, steak fry-style, and excellent Mac & cheese: one of the best I've had anywhere Salads: fresh, crisp, and generously portioned Fried cheese curds: squeaky, creamy, and delicious Honestly, I could easily make a full meal out of just the sides and salads. Big thumbs up to The Red Chickz, crunchy, flavorful, and consistently satisfying. I'm looking forward to a very crunchy relationship with this place. Cheers!

This place lives to the hype I will say!! After walking around the mall I wanted a quick bite to each for lunch. This place is pretty big with a lot of seating both inside and outside. This reminds me a lot of Dave's Hot Chicken but I think this is 10x better. I got the original chicken sandwich, added some pepper jack cheese (reccomended by the staff and I will say amazing) with a side of wedge fries. Service was great, the staff were super friendly. The portions are big! I wasn't aware but M-F from 11-2pm they do lunch specials for 9.99! Loooove! Next time I'm in Carlsbad I'll come back !! Check it out if you're in the area!

Listen, paisans -- saw a TikTok about Red Chickz and I got nostalgic enough to make the hundred‑mile pilgrimage from San Diego. I was picturing big, glorious chicken tenders. What arrived: two regular tenders with fries and Texas toast, plus two spicy tenders. Mac & cheese on the side? Missing. Parking? Ridonkulous -- maybe holiday chaos, maybe bad planning. Taste wise, this one lands in the low‑average camp. The meat was dry and the crunch I was hankerin' for was AWOL. My lady asked for a mild heat on her country‑style; she got the full inferno instead -- maybe a mistake, maybe crossed wires, but not what she asked for. And here's the kicker: we asked for one sauce and were billed for four. That ain't right. Overcharging for extras leaves a bad aftertaste you can't fry away. Really wanted to like this place. The girl working the counter was busy with an order but still greeted us. She did ask if we had any questions. We thought we had it. Ordered the honey butter chicken sandwich x2. Both mild. One was with fries the other with coleslaw. And asked for honey mustard sauce. Didn't realize had to pay extra for that. The coleslaw was very bland. The sandwich was ok. One chicken strip for a sandwich was ridiculous. The sauce the sandwiches came with reminded me of thousand island dressing. The honey mustard sauce was different. I will say, the chicken strips weren't greasy like another chicken place we tried. They were crispy with little flavor. I totally disagree with having to pay for a side of sauce. Now if I was asking for extra, that I would understand. Will we be back? No.

Came in on a Thursday for the $2 tender deal and it was great! I got the glow spice level 3 piece and a strawberry shake (for free for checking in on yelp!!) and shared a large fry with my husband. My husband got the cool spice level. I loved mine with the buffalo sauce. I only ate about 1.5 and took some home, was a great left over for the next day. My husband can't handle spice and although it was only paprika on his he liked it but think he will try the country level next time. The tendies were flavorful, crunchy and very tender on the inside. Piping hot temp wise. So much better than Canes. Fries were pretty good, a bit too soft for my liking. Only bummer is you have to pay for additional sauce, but I get it otherwise people would probably waste it...it's good and pretty cheap so it's worth it. Ranch was pretty good. Strawberry shake was delicious! There was a bit of a wait but I was with good company and there was good people watching lol. Bathroom was pretty clean for how busy they were and how many young people they had working haha. I would definitely come back! :)

I've been wanting to come here for long time - especially after every foodie IG influencer posted videos of this place. Let me tell you, it is legit. $3 beers daily. $10 lunch specials daily. $2 tenders on Thursday. What a deal. Free drink with Yelp check in. The spice levels are for real. and they are seriously generous on the portion size... 2 tenders might be enough for most people. I'm guessing but there is a secret to breading fried chicken with corn flakes and I think that's how they do it. It is very crunchy on the outside with juicy chicken inside. It's really good. What gets me is the spice. It's not your wimpy spice levels that you might find at those big corporate chains, this will put sweat on your brow, which is how I like it (bonfire and blaze were HOT and you can level up from there)... But if you aren't into getting your face melted off, there are more mild levels... I'm definitely a fan and will return...

My first visit, took a drive from Otay Mesa. It was pretty busy and Mark was so kind and friendly. Took a few moments to introduce himself in the midst of bringing out orders. He apologized for the wait and was very sweet and sent me off with a little extras. I had a bit of a drive, by the time I arrived home the food was still warm but we were so excited to eat I took no pictures. Everything looked and tasted great. I LOVED Red Chickz and cannot say enough good things about them. From the moment I came in, every employee was very friendly, attentive, and happy to serve their customers. The restaurant was clean and orderly. The food was the best part! The food was absolutely fantastic! The chicken was tender and juicy and I could tell it was real chicken and not the mock chicken that you see at other places. The breading and seasonings were SOO GOOD! My daughter liked it so much it ended up all over her face. I had a salad, my husband and children had the chicken strips and I loved that there was something on the menu for each of us. I was excited to try this spot out after hearing great reviews. I ordered the 2 piece chicken tenders, which came with choice of potato wedges or slaw, slice of bread and pickles. After taking the 1st bite, pure disappointment set in, while it was very crunchy, it completely lacked flavor. Despite the fact I ordered the their hot level which was spicy, but that was the only spice they seemed to use for their chicken. The 2nd piece, though I was hesitant to eat, I had wanted to try it with the bread and pickles, I really should've trusted my gut. That piece was so greasy it drenched the bread and made it completely inedible, which eventually made me later feel not too well. Needless to say, I probably won't be back. read more

The food at red chicks is amazing. If you love spicy chicken sandwich or tenders this is a must try. The breading of the chicken is amazing and you can select the spicy level based on your preference. I chose the bonfire level and it was amazing. In terms of location, it is right next to the Carlsbad mall so you can go shopping right after, nice ambiance. The people that work there is also very welcoming. read more

Delicious! I've tried similar places like Angry Chickz, Dave's Hot Chicken, Hot Boys, etc and this one wins! The base flavor is unique and complex, the spice kick is solid, and it was the crunchiest spicy chicken I've had! My wife said the same about her salad -- a solid Caesar salad with super crunchy chicken. The fries also had a nice seasoning. read more

WOW we LOVED this spot! Was craving a fried chicken sandwich and this place blew us away. First - they do not fry the chicken in the same fryer as the shrimp so this is a huge bonus for me since I'm allergic to shrimp. Second - they took our order over the phone and it was a really easy experience. Third - walking in and walking out the staff are all genuinely friendly. Fourth - the food was really really good! We ordered the original sandwich medium heat - it was perfect - juicy, flavorful, some spice. And the wedges were seasoned just right! Tasty food! I got the chicken tenders for 2$ and they were fantastic! My sister got another plate of something else and it was awesome too. We came in during a rush but still managed to find a table and the wait time wasn't too long either. I did have to take down a star because although we enjoyed our meal, it definitely was a little on the pricier side. And me personally, I just can't really fathom paying nearly 20$ for a plate of some chicken, mac and potato's. I do feel the service can be improved. While some employees exhibited outstanding customer service (especially the guys who were calling out the orders!) , the others were quite mediocre. Which averaged out the service to be ok. I was going to order additional items, but because of how slow the line moved, I opted out. It seemed as if they put a new person on registers, which was understandable but annoying nevertheless. Lastly, (this is my opinion) I believe the sauces should be free or at least the first few free. It doesn't make sense to not provide sauces when the chicken by itself (like the tenders) is dry. I'd rather pay more for the chicken at that point. And had the sauces been free, I would've overlooked everything else and given this establishment a 5 star. Overall, I do recommend this place. read more

I gave the restaurant another try after an underwhelming experience during the grand opening. I ordered some cauliflower bites (add-on), 3 tenders (add-on) and a sandwich meal. My experience today was...just ok. I really wish that the spice coating on the chicken provided some flavor- all you get is heat. The sauces are a great way to add flavor, but you have to pay for them separately which is a rip off, especially for the amount thats given. A side of tenders/cauliflower bites should at least come with one sauce. The cauliflower bites were just ok. We did find some raw flour in the cauliflower bites which was a bit alarming. Wouldnt get those again. read more

This is the 3rd Hot Chicken restaurant in SD I've tried and this one is my favorite by far. As someone who dislikes mayonnaise I hate that most sauces for these are just mayo dressed up with a few seasonings or hot sauce. I actually like their comeback (house) sauce and they offer 7 other sauce options so there's plenty to choose from! read more

Unfortunately, in the Vindaloo, chicken was put in instead of the shrimp which we had ordered. But it was still good. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Garlic Naan as well. My order consisted of some shrimp and chicken. Now, before I go any further, they have some serious spice levels, ranging from 1 to 8 or something like that. I can usually handle my heat, but I suggest you don't go beyond Bonfire. I tried Inferno because I thought I was tough, and it made me cry--literally! But it was so worth it because the flavors were out of this world. The shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of crispiness. They were absolutely mouth-watering. I loved how there were more options available to pair with the chicken including french toast, waffles, and potato bread. SHOUTOUT to cashier ELYSE O. who was very attentive and helped explain the menu to us. I asked her what her favorite items on the menu were, one of which included the Honey Butter Sandwich. It was such a great recommendation; the perfect combination of sweet from the honey butter, and savory from the chicken tender and pepperjack cheese. Other items purchased are as follows: - Original Sandwiches: Light, crunchy, flavorful; we appreciate the non-heavy feel that the tenders tasted - 3 Tenders w/ Mac n Cheese: Phenomenal, with the mac n cheese being alright - Potato Wedges: Seasoned perfectly and paired well with the sauce. This is honestly my new favorite chicken spot. They have an amazing selection and the quality is great. I got the French toast chicken sandwich with the cheese curds for my first time and it was so delicious. I love sweet and savory/spicy so it was perfect. I got of them (spark, medium) and that was a good solid heat and flavor. I went back a few days later and got another French toast but with Mac and cheese which was so saucy/cheesy, I loved it. I would say their only down fall right now is that they don't have enough locations, but I'm willing to make the drive, it's that good. Fast and friendly service, with a good ambiance and seating. It's also near the mall which makes it a great choice while shopping. I highly recommend trying them out ASAP! read more

The chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside and super juicy on the inside, and the spice level is just right--it actually has flavor and heat without being overwhelming.
