The crunch of chicken is impeccable, but for me that's it. We ordered their honey sandwiches and the waffle with three tenders for two people. The tenders were huge which is a plus but it wasn't a great meal at the end. We can only take so much crunch with nothing inside the burger, not even a pickle. It felt carby and plain at the end of the meal. At the end the crunch felt drying. The waffle was droopy, dense, and spongey which didn't help with the heavily coated chicken. I felt like I was eating a sponge mommy (a line of scrub daddy, iykyk). The chicken sandwich should at least come with something other than two buns imo. Food- It was so very good, i got the honey butter sandwich medium and it was the perfect spice level for me, the butter was melting wit the heat of the fresh chicken and it was just amazing. I got cheese curds as a side for an up charge and they were very good. we were also given some corn ribs as a courtesy and they were so tasty and fresh! they had a great smoky flavor. Service- was TOP TEIR! Martin R greeted us very warmly and gave us suggestions based on what is popular which helped us a lot since it was our first time! He was very patient and attentive with us and helped us get an extra chair as we had one too many people he went very above and beyond. There was another young woman who attended us but I didn't catch her name, she was so nice too and brought us some goodies. They've gotten super busy since the first time I've been, but service is always amazing and they are pretty quick with getting out orders. Clean fast casual food spot. I don't normally eat hot chicken despite it being very popular these days. I have gone to one iconic Los Angeles place that I thought was pretty good. Since I live close by I thought I'd deviate from my normal food styles and try some hot chicken. It's crispy. Really crispy. That seems so hard to find a place that can make it crispy even the next day when you take it out of the fridge. I personally found it too oily for my tastes but then again, I don't normally eat this type of food. I did not like it when it was hot (temperature). But when I put it in the fridge and took a piece out to try cold it was actually pretty decent. The fries were also crispy. The sauce it comes with is very good. The people working were very friendly and they have a huge parking lot. This place is popular as quite a lot of people were grabbing food as I waited for mine. I probably won't be back for a while and if I am, I'll make sure to eat it cold. I'm giving 4 stars for the style and crispness factor. read more

Stopped by for their $2 chicken tender Thursday deal and it was definitely bang for your buck! You get a big piece of chicken breast coated with a crispy batter and dry rub of your choice. Pretty cool that they had various levels of spice. Service was quick to take our order and I love that they have their own parking lot since LA usually has street parking. The inside was clean with a good amount of seats available. The corn ribs were more on the chewier than sweet and crunchy side and a tad difficult to eat. One of my favorite places to get chicken tenders. I've tried Dave's hot chicken but the chicken at red chickz has the crunchiest batter I've tried. It's similar to Korean fried chicken so not sure if they double fry it but it seems to work. I've tried their medium hot level but the bonfire level was just perfect level of spiciness for me. If you can handle spicy food then I would recommend you try that. Wish they had more locations in the LA or OC area which would make me get it more. read more

Starting off service was nice. Area was nice and clean. Got the loaded Mac and cheese this time. It was very solid. I think flavor wise, their signature sauce without the buffalo is already a bit on the tangy side for those like that. As for individual components, the Mac and cheese was solid, slightly above average but nothing crazy, the tenders were same as last time so pretty consistent, and the potato wedges at the bottom were actually really good. Great outer crisp and soft inside. Put all together, a bit carb heavy but enjoyable! That being said, I'd say this is the go to here, or a combo like this because the tenders alone isn't extremely juicy but solid for sure! Definitely shareable with two people with a couple extra tenders since it's extremely carb heavy. The Red Chickz lives up to the social media hype and actually in a world of over promising fanfare only to be disappointed... this actually over delivered to already lofty expectations and anticipation. This is destination dining. I drove from the South Bay Beach Cities, about 20 mins or so with light to no traffic and taking the 405 North freeway and streets. Not a huge hike nor inconvenient trek, but many who live within a small and defined social bubble who dare not venture beyond a few miles or minutes from their neighborhood... this might be considered "too far" for fried chicken strips. Well... I'm here to be a testimony to endorse the travel as being very well worthwhile to endure and get rewarded on a Thursday for their $2 Tenders Here's my review on the actual CHICKEN HEAT LEVEL Level 1 "Country Style" is my favorite, it's the basic chicken that's battered and fried. No spicy heat no seasoning, just pure flavorful batter and moist tender chicken (not sure if it's pre-marinated or not, but it's tasty). Level 2 "Cool" they described as "seasoned" not "spicy" so it has flavor to it but not hot spicy taste heat they state "No Heat" in the description. I like this second best. DISCLAIMER, I'm not a fan of spicy heat, so that's my bias. Level 3 "Glow" this is where the spice begins they told me. It's menu described as "Mild" heat. I tried it because although I'm not a fan of spicy chicken, and don't tolerate the Nashville "HOT" flavors, I'm often fine and won't faint with some mild levels. This was good and okay, where it wasn't too spicy, but when I taste chicken, I want to take the batter and meat more than the seasoning, so this was my 3rd favorite (you can probably see a trend here on how I grade) Level 4 "Spark" described to have "Medium" heat and it was okay. I could eat it without seeking water. I'm simply not a huge fan of spice so I'd put this in 4th place. I'd recommend you try several flavors. Level 5 "Hot" is supposed to be where Ghost Peppers are introduced, so I passed on trying it. I was going to consider it if Level 4 was a wimpy spice and could level up, but Level 4 was good enough and I stopped there. Level 6 "Bonfire" is X-Hot Level 7 "Inferno" is XX-Hot It goes without saying, if I passed on Level 5, I also did pass on Level 6 and Level 7. REVIEW OF THE CHICKEN... Quality and Quantity. The pieces are large sized, they basically feel like a full center cut white meat breast fillet in quality moist tenderness and size. It's roughly 2x as large as most "tender" / "strips" and one could feed a child or maybe even an adult. Two (2) is sufficient to fill a belly even without sides. I'm going to say that the $2 Thursdays is a good price, good deal. It's a perfect price point that affords people to try more "risk free" and indulge. I did not purchase any of the "Sauces" as I enjoy the flavor of chicken and feel that any food that requires a "sauce" to potentially override and mask the flavor of the original food might mean the food is sub-par, needing a flavor boost. I apply that logic to steaks (no steak sauce!), fish and anything else, aside from BBQ (which often can be dry and need moisture) foods. So, I'm saying for me here at Red Chickz... I didn't need any sauce. If it was "free" (complimentary) I'd consider trying them to taste test review, but as an added expense it seemed unnecessary (and ultimately, I love my food fine without any sauce) They're great fresh and hot as they cook to order. I had to wait about 30 minutes (I personally blame ordering the Milk Shake that's easy for the kitchen to hold off or neglect for the added delay) but feel the average is probably 10-15 mins when it's not busy and then 20-30 mins when it is busy, taking in account they cook fresh to order. I got the "App" and registered to join their loyalty club and got a free order of "Donuts" desert by ordering. It was tasty and fresh. So, after this experience, I'm wanting to try their Jumbo Shrimp and Potato Wedges. I'd probably stick to the tenders for the pure protein play over a sandwich with the filing carbs of the bread. The Milk Shake was okay, not bad at all, but consumes calorie and sugar allocations so I could easily do without the shake ($4 sm / $5 med), but was worthwhile trying out. Parking seemed like it could be tough in both finding a space and navigating the parking lot, but it wasn't too bad when I visited shortly after traditional lunchtime (post 12pm noon). The line wait wasn't much of a wait to order. The wait, as mentioned was more in the food prep as they do cook fresh to order as mentioned and it's not just a ton of chicken waiting to put into boxes under a heat lamp. It's FRESH. This is one of my more memorable experiences I was enthusiastic to share about on Yelp (with this review and the photos) as well as recommend to my friends. Lastly... I have picked up from here quite a few times for delivery for Grubhub. It's definitely popular here on the west side. A lot of of the kids that get out of school come here and eat outside which on beautiful days like today is a great place to enjoy friends and food. They have recently put up signs for a lunch special. It's $9.99 and it includes fries or coleslaw. And it's not just for one item to choose from. Attached is a card that has all the items that are included in this deal. This special got me in the door so they are marketing tactics worked for me. I haven't tried their shakes, but I would like to. They have cold drinks, but not fountain drinks. That's kind of a bummer for me. They have sauces you can choose from also. They have parking which you know is a plus here. They also have seating indoors. So after getting home and indulging in the nice large piece of chicken in my sandwich, in my opinion, it was boring. I added their sauce that they add on their chicken and I added ranch. So what that said it wasn't great alone. They had pickles and a small amount of coleslaw. I like this deal I might be back for it and a shake and maybe try some tenders I'm not sure but I'm definitely going back to Dave's Hot Chicken so much better. read more

Came here on a Thursday for the first time ever. I had been very excited to try this place for a while because I had seen posts and heard from friends about $2 tenders on Thursday. I had opened a rewards account and scheduled a pick up order for 8 pm. We decided to get 6 tenders, a combination of spark (medium), bonfire (hot), and blaze (x-hot). For sides, we got a large fry, Mac and cheese and the cheese curds (bonfire spice level). A medium shake is $5 on Thursdays so we got one strawberry and one chocolate. We also received a free molten chocolate cake for signing up for the rewards. Then we ordered 2 50¢ containers of comeback sauce. Parking was easy when we arrived. There's a lot and street parking. The restaurant was pretty busy. A decent line of people ordering and also people picking up online orders. Our food ended up being ready a few minutes after 8 pm. All the employees seemed friendly and one even came to double check our order as we sat outside using one of the tables because he had forgotten my blaze tender. The inside is small and a little cramped and I don't think there are customer restrooms. But there were 4 large tables outside and it seemed like most people were getting their food to go. For the shakes, I'd say they were pretty standard and nothing too special. A good deal for the Thursday price. The strawberry tasted a little artificial and no chunks of real strawberry so I did like the chocolate more. Honestly necessary with the spicy meal though for some refreshing relief! The tenders were all very crispy crunchy and moist inside. The blaze was pretty spicy. I'm glad I got 1 to try and would probably continue to get just 1. The bonfire was probably the perfect spice level for me and my boyfriend said the spark was perfect for him. The chicken was very flavorful but honestly, not my favorite spicy friend chicken ever. Main Chick is definitely my favorite and I feel like they put a little sugar in their seasoning and more sweetness in their signature sauce. Best hot chicken I've tried all over California! The red chickz chicken is soooooo crispy wayyyy crispier than a brand new $100 bill. I also love the special house sauces they offer. For $2 a tender, without fault (except when we are out of town) my husband and I are here for their Thursday tender deal on the weekly. You can choose between different levels of spice (even no spice) if you can't handle super spicy food. The crisp is immaculate, breading is not overdone/too thick where ratios are off compared to portion of the actual chicken. For the most part the chicken is usually cooked well/moist (only a handful of occasions where I can recall it was on the drier side). I have eaten here twice now, once via DoorDash and once in store and I have to say it's better than the more well-known chains like Raising Cane's. And Raising Cane's is good, but this is better. Last time here I ignored the diet rules and ordered the French toast and chicken sandwich mild. Still spicy. The best mix of salty, fried, and sweet! Loved the cole slaw with it, but you can't go wrong with the fries either. Indoors there are a few places to sit but seating in general is limited. Huge parking lot though! It's nice and clean inside, and the picnic tables outside are a nice touch. Service is quick. You put your order in at the counter (or online) and they call your name maybe 10 minutes max later. Great halal chicken spot with definitely the crunchiest chicken! Was looking for some new halal hot chicken spots, saw this came up on Yelp and was pleasantly surprised to check it out. Went on a weekday and placed a pick up order and the order pickup process was easy and swift and the food was hot. I noticed later that they had a Thursday special for $2 tenders which is awesome and that they have a lunch special. I got the hot level and when reading the other reviews they said it shouldn't be too hot, but it did get a little hotter when compared to other hot chicken spots and I generally like spicy so I would recommend medium to people who want flavor but not too much spice, but for people who want it hot then hot is good. The only negative about the chicken is that some parts were a little dry, but I did air fry it before eating it so it might have been my fault. Will update when I try it fresh fresh at the restaurant. The inside was nice and there is a parking lot right next to the restaurant so don't have to worry about parking and they also have outside seating. They do have some interesting things on the menu, we tried the honey butter chicken sandwich, the original, corn ribs, cheese curds and the Mac n cheese. Meh. Wasn't really impressed. Pro-tip: the spice level from medium to hot is not like the other places. It's unfortunate because the jump in level is such where medium doesn't really have any spice, and hot is just way too hot.
