Last day of St Patrick's Day Pop Up!
    Jenna O.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very fun and decorated nicely for the event, st Patrick's day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was good, enjoyed most of all the Reuben egg rolls. Also purchased a pretzel with beer cheese and spicy mustard; the cheese was not my favorite and the spicy mustard needed a bit more kick, but the pretzel was super soft and delicious on its own. Also tried the "pizza" they had on their specials menu. It was different having the mash potatoes on the pizza, but I definitely got the theme. Overall it was different but not bad. I just would have also described it as a flatbread instead of a pizza, as the assumption is that a pizza would have been big enough to share (which we were going to) but the flatbread just wasn't enough. Truly overall I liked the place, the bartender was so fun and lively and the got crowded as the evening went on. Definitely would be back to try other items.

My experience so far with Red Gill Bistro is attending their special Galentine's Day event, so this review focuses on that rather than a "regular" meal. That being said, the event was absolutely lovely! I was a little concerned about what I'd get for $20, but it ended up being a complementary cocktail, a huge charcuterie-style spread with meats and cheeses, a mashed potato bar, plenty of desserts, and more -- even a lovely "thank you" gift that included a small champagne bottle and other goodies. The local vendors were great! I ended up getting some permanent jewelry and a beaded bracelet, and the consumables for sale looked delicious. From Red Gill, I ordered a tiki drink that I unfortunately can't remember the name of, only that it had both orgeat and falernum in it and that it came in a mini bathtub. It was delicious! The flavors were balanced well, and it was pricey but strong. The DJ was tuned in to the crowd's favorites, and our host (the owner?) was spectacular in making everyone feel welcomed and cared for. I will definitely be attending more events here and will check it out for a regular drink and bite soon.

I have known most of these friends for over 50 years! Such a great party!

If you haven't been to #SippinSanta you are missing out. I booked a reservation for 20 of my besties. Preordering appetizers was easy and a great way to go with a large group. Laura was exceptional to work with. The detail was perfection. Tamika provided the perfect level of service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Red Gill Bistro is decorated from top to bottom. Santa visited and it snowed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The star of the show is the Christmas themed Tiki Drinks. So delicious! Thanks to Laura, Tamika and Charlie for making our night perfect!

I was staying in the hotel and wandered down to get a bite to eat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is an inviting little spot, festive decorations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Charlie made me a Long Island, that was little sour, but he fixed it right up, nice and strong and only $12. Everyone in the restaurant raved about how good the food was. I ordered food and took it back to the room. wings and a salad. Don't order the wings...they were old and dry and expensive, no fries with it. You know, how when you get to the bone it is dark and superdry. Yeah, order something else... but Charlie will cheer you up and make you a great drink! 5 stars for him!

Cuban Sandwich was good, fries were awesome!

Food has gone down hill and the price has sky rocketed. This will be our last meal here. Charlie was our waiter, his people skills needs improvement!

Checked out the Sippin Santa pop-up at Red Gill. We decided to go early because it can get busy. We sat at the bar and all the staff was very personable. Tried the Tom & Sherry, Secret Santa and the Silent Nightcap and all 3 were delightful! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Of course the decorations were very cute and I loved the fireplace on the tv.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Huge, well deserved shout out to the Red Gill Bistro!!! I was recently fortunate enough to try them out for a Yelp event. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Christmas Decor is unmatched, their food excellent and their service impeccable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Rarely do you see a crew that is entirely interchangeable and serve food and make the perfect drink. Everything I tried at the Yelp event hit and I want to bring special attention to the Spam fried rice which is just perfect. After the Yelp event, the crew at work was looking to have a dinner to exchange Secret Santa gifts. I knew this was the perfect place. Tamika was our waitress and she was just a star. We had a party of 17 and no one waited or needed anything at any point of the night. This time I tried the chicken quesadilla. Another example of simple things done in an excellent way. Fresh, tasty, the perfect amount of chicken, cheese and vegetables. Decadently good. Everyone on our party enjoyed their food and the experience. I love that this place is right down the street from work. I do believe we'll become regulars. I highly suggest you give the Red Gill Bistro a try. Especially at Christmas, you'll be blown away.

We were out of town for the Yelp Elite event but that wasn't going to stop us from checking out the Sippin Santa Pop Up at the Red Gill Bistro. We came in on a Friday night and I will say it was already starting to get packed but we were able to get a spot at the bar. I will say they did an amazing job decorating too couldn't believe how good it looked. We of course started with some Christmas drinks. I went with the Jingle Bird which of course is bourbon based but also has Pineapple Rum. I will say this tasted great and I have to find out what's in that jingle Mix. I will say too, bourbon and Pineapple Rum can have you hurting the next day so play it safe. The drink are on the pricier side ($18 for this one) but that's what comes with pop ups. We of course had to order the pop up food too. We got the Spam Fried Rice, Teriyaki Pineapple Meatballs, and the Sticky BBQ Chicken. Our favorite was for sure the Spam Fried Rice I could have eaten this all night. Keep the Spam Fried Rice coming. The Sticky BBQ Chicken was not what I expected but still good. They were BBQ'ed drums so good thing I'm a big dark meat fan. Now of course one drink was not enough so Ashley and I had to split the North Pole Bowl. Santa sitting in a liquor pool... I had to give it. I was also very good and for sure great for sharing with friends at $34. We help they keep doing this next year and maybe even start doing different themed pop ups.

What a fantastic experience last night. The food was tremendous! Huge! :). The staff were amazing! A great time was had by our whole table. I heard the drinks were unique and very cute with special glasses. Highly recommend for dinner, special gatherings, girls night out. It's inside the Wyndham. You can book a room too!

Tameka was our server and she was hustling running the restaurant all on her own. I had a taste for raw oysters and my mother and I walked across the street from the Marriott hotel for a good vibe. There was ongoing happy hour although I do not drink. My mother ordered an apple martini and she told me that it was prepared very well with no house well selection. I ordered an unsweet tea and it was filled with lemon flavored. Very nice and refreshing! The oysters were perfectly presented with horseradish. I ordered my typical dozen. I love soul food! Ended up adding on some collard greens which were a bit salty for my taste but overall, I could offset the saltiness by mixing it in with the Mac n cheese and red potato's. Overall, highly recommend this place and will return. Everything priced fairly.

I am a fan! As we entered and sat down at a table by the bar the server came over introduced himself and the other staff member. Assisted us in a drink suggestion and also told us about the food. Very helpful very kind! The food was really good we enjoyed our entries and the sides were unique to us but delicious. The other patrons at the bar were friendly and easy to strike up a conversation. There was a larger party of about 8-10 but they were not too loud. I would revisit this place if I was in the area again.

Clearly sat they are open until midnight. But are very rude at 10:15 the Saturday before Christmas.

Hollywood in Florida!!!!…read more JUST like Dr. Indiana Jones combing through the jungles seeking his ancient museum artifacts, I was navigating the curvy wilds of the Jacksonville Southpoint area, located near I-95 and JTB. The best things in life require some effort to build your appetite, and whereas I did not collect a golden idol like Dr. Jones, I was rewarded instead with a cheerful new friend and one of the absolute FRESHEST sandwiches in JAX! Nestled between the sparse woods and surrounding offices you will find happy, loyal diners who fill Hollywood Heroes and Subs each lunchtime to the point where the line stretches out the door. I had just seen the last of the lunch crowd smiling and saying goodbye for the day to our energetic and upbeat host, Founder, sandwich artist and Jacksonville native Kevin Porter, an actor turned restaurateur -- known for roles including "Lazer" in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, plus appearances in Daredevil and General Hospital. Something that cannot be "acted" around was his genuine welcome and desire to roll out the red Hollywood carpet for all who make the journey (yes, it's a REAL red carpet)!! This sweet shop is the perfect size, and has a significant amount of Hollywood memorabilia all around to keep you engaged while chatting with Kevin as he works his magic. And what he produced was a treasure of cheese and meats that made me forget about whatever might have been chasing me through those woods to get there! J/K In between wonderful conversation with Kevin, each bite of my MASSIVE "The Towering Inferno" hot hero (pepperoni, Genoa salami, cappy and melted provolone) on fresh baked Village Bread made me realize just how huge and delicious this thing was. Kevin promised that the one pictured is exactly what every customer will get...he prides himself on highly generous portions at fair prices...and man, did he deliver!! I would have been completely satisfied with HALF, but NO!!!! There sat its twin, begging for sacrifice to the stomach Gods. I was only too happy to oblige! The owner Kevin = engaging, friendly, talented with his craft, makes you feel like you drove through the woods to come home to your happy place. The ambiance = bright, colorful, great memorabilia, puts you as the star of the show. The sandwiches = creative in name and product with fresh being the operative word, this sandwich hit above its price point and I can't wait to try to the rest of the menu! So no, I didn't get chased by a boulder, or leave with Dr. Jones' golden idol, but I did get a Golden Belly from my experience, and the knowledge of why hundreds of hungry lunch- goers seek this "Temple of Delish" every day!! Crack the whip and corral your family into the car for this absolute treat in the core of "ancient Jacksonville!!"

We arrived early and found that very quickly there was a line that was extending out the door. That was for good reason. This place is excellent. Great staff, impeccable food, fantastic service. Inside is clean, neat with hearty tables. The front features their baked goods as well. All fresh, all look delicious. I tried the Tiramisu for dessert. No pictures. It was that good that it made me forget. We dined in, and to do so, you order at the front, are seated and are served shortly after. When you order, keep in mind that they bring bread to the table. Two types of bread with a delicious mix of oil and balsamic that is ideal for dipping. Shortly after we received our food. We split the sandwiches between us and one order of truffle fries. The muffuletta was so meaty and flavorful. The bread fresh and the perfect accompaniment. The eggplant likewise was so delicious. I was expecting more of historical panini type bread but this bread was perfect and grilled. The truffle fries...crispy, bursting with flavor. Really generous portions here of next level sandwiches. If you're in the mood for a great sandwich or a huge salad, this is THE place for you. I highly encourage you to check them out. You'll be glad you did.

Both sandwiches were great but just extremely heavy - I definitely was in need of a serious nap after lunch. Had a side of truffle fries, but couldn't get through more than a few. The ambiance inside is somewhat tight and thankfully we were sat at our own table. The servers essentially drop the food off and that's it, so it's interesting as usual that they ask for a tip like we are at a restaurant with a real waiter/waitress. Overall, not a bad place, didn't get a chance to try the pastries/cakes which looked decadent. But for the price of the sandwiches and service, I'd say the value is pretty low.

Ordered at the front counter and was greeted by a friendly young lady... good start. I went in planning to get the muffaleta off the specials board. They checked on it, but no luck... they were out of the cuts needed. I was pointed toward the Italian, but my buddy already grabbed that and I felt like being different. Noticed another special on the wall, a smoked brisket sandwich. Can't remember the exact name, but that's what I went with. Instead of chips or their homemade tots, I grabbed the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tables weren't the cleanest and were a little wobbly, but nothing deal-breaking... we made it work. Food came out pretty quick and looked solid. Flavor-wise... a little mixed. The brussel sprouts were very flaky and leafy, almost crumbled apart. You really had to work your fork to get a bite. I was picturing larger roasted halves. Sauce was fine, nothing bad, nothing special. I'd give those a 3 out of 5. The brisket sandwich was interesting. The meat was very fatty and kind of tough to chew through. Not sure if that's just the cut or the prep. I ate about three-quarters of it. It wasn't bad, just didn't hit the way I hoped. Probably still thinking about that muffaleta. Another 3 out of 5. I'd come back, no doubt... but next time I'm sticking with what they're known for. Those cheesesteaks always look great, and that's probably the move. This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings.
