Soup of the day - coconut curry
    Thomas C.

Laurie and William O'Brien opened the Red Sun Roasting Co in April 2010, with a menu influenced by O'Brien's native California, where everything is cooked in a wood-fired oven. With big modern art murals, a sleek beer and wine bar, coupled with a relaxed, casual atmosphere, Red Sun Roasting's intent is top make you feel as if you are dining in a big metropolitan city. The globally influenced menu offers something for everyone. It features pizza, burgers, wings, pasta, seafood, and steaks, and an open kitchen where you can watch as the staff prepares your meal. Wife and I stopped in here after having a spa day for some dinner. Honestly, we chose it because it was one of the very few restaurants to choose from in Oswego and they had the best looking menu, but we're glad we did, because everything was delicious. We were sat right away, around 5:30PM on a Saturday. Easy street parking in the little village square. My wife ordered their soup of the day, which was a homemade coconut curry, and it was amazing. We got an appetizer of their corn fritters, their fire roasted chicken wings, and a Tumbleweed wood fired pizza for our meal. Everything was great, absolutely loved the pizza, as the BBQ sauce on it was amazing, wasn't extremely sweet like a lot of BBQ sauces, just very flavorful. Our server was great, despite having some problem customers right behind us. Prices were a little bit higher than similar places, but the food was worth it. We also took home two pieces of their home made cake, a raspberry almond and chocolate peanut butter. Both were awesome, but the peanut butter one was both of our favorites. Definitely get dessert from them if you dine here. It's rare I give out 5 star reviews, but there really wasn't anything I could find that wasn't great here. Would absolutely go again.

Started my night off with a Pumpkin Bisque Soup which was really really good along side the Overly Sweet Ol Fashioned. Pairs well in my book. Service was fast and the staff knows the menu Like the Bread and Dipping Sauce that was delivered as well. Restaurant is quaint with a pleasing ambiance. Nice murals on the walls. Good selections of wine & spirits although I wish there were more Bourbons. Fresh made Pasta is a bonus and worth the wait. I went with the Wild Mushroom Pasts add a Chicken to top it all off. This was a really good meal that will be revisited upon my return. Dinner was so good it needed a dessert to top it off! Mixed Berry Panna Cotta! Aw Yeah!

Actually, my experience was ruined on Monday, August 25. While sitting at the bar, I ordered the stuffed sole with crab meat. It sat in the window for 15 minutes. The bartender only had three people at the bar. She was too busy talking with other staff and then cleaning up at the bar that had no one sitting at. The chef five minutes after the food was sitting under the little nightlight on the counter looked at the ticket and never even said a thing to the bartender as she was having a conversation with her. Finally 15 minutes later the chef said to bartender oh, you have food here and she was haha yeah I forgot. How do you forget-and not even apologize. Then give l disgusting COLD FISH as I'm sitting three stools over from the counter. I wanted to get up and get it myself but whatever. The menu looks amazing and I have big reservations about coming back when you got a street full of other choices.

This restaurant alone will bring me back to Oswego! Wow!! if you have us headed to Oswego from Rochester to visit a friend who recently moved and enjoyed walking around the main street area and exploring some of the neighborhoods. When it was time for lunch, our friend suggested, red fire roasting company ... and were we glad she did! For starters, we have the most amazing service. The interior is super hip and chic. You can't go wrong on the menu choices and the cocktails are so delicious. We all have salads and shared a pizza, and it was more than enough food for four. Definitely going back to Oswego just to have a great meal here

We found this great spot for dinner. The menu had a large selection of interesting dishes. I tried the autumn veggie pizza which was wood fired and so delicious. They also have a couple mocktails so I tried the Amaretto Sour and it is my new favorite drink! The staff were very friendly and the service was very fast. Overall the dining area is very cozy and it was nicely decorated for Christmas.

Got sat right away and are good about their reservations! Our server was excellent! The food was soo good! We got the stretch bread and clams to start out with and there is so much flavor it all just melt in your mouth! The pizza was so good I had to take a bite before I took the picture. Such a cute date night place!

Classic Upstate Italian. Family has been going there for years - super nice people:)…read more I think the business has made it to the next generation, and while they have simplified the menu, they have also lost a bit of attention to detail. Positives: Wedding soup is perfect! Salad with Italian & crumbly blue is excellent. Great steak and pasta choices Great bar & wine choices. Slight critiques: The bar is too high, basically difficult to eat at - plus it's not very attractive. Gone are the days of complimentary white garlic pizza at the bar:( The Sunday Vona's sauce is good, but something seems to have changed? Maybe a tad too much sugar? Not sure. The chicken Marsala came out in chunks, not pounded as it should be. A classic dish like this should not be reduced a "chicken riggy" (if you don't know what that is your not missing much in the culinary tradition of upstate NY) I understand veal is expensive and requires more culinary expertise - sad to see it go. Overall great place! But the lack of culinary detail to the classic Italian recipes that made this place great means that a 4 star review is generous - meaning I hope they improve because we love Vona's. Improvement could be as simple as staying true to original recipes or even finding better Italian recipes.

Added the eggplant a top of it. I thought they used it as a sponge to wipe up all the oil. There's so much sauce you could take a bath in it not a traditional Italian place which means I don't have any of those classics, but I wouldn't come back to this place.

Simply put, I would not eat here again. The concept is great - think Chipotle pick-your-own…read moreingredients meets pizza. But on execution... there was a lot to be desired. All three pizzas were undercooked in our opinion - the cheese was sloppy and while the crust was nicely cooked, each felt messy - wet, if you will. And the "roasted garlic" on the Arugula Pizza was actually *raw* garlic, and WAY too much of it. My pizza was nearly inedible; I had to deconstruct it to take much of the garlic off so I could eat a few slices. We took the cheese pizza home and finished cooking it in our own oven the next day, but it kind of defeated the point of going out to eat if we had to finish cooking it.

The most recent order was disappointing- I ordered a meat pizza with onion and the onion arrived raw. Def didn't make it into the oven. Oddly enough trying to call the establishment is difficult so the next day I drove down to ask- is raw onion something new? The rather young team at the time looked at me collectively dumbfounded and one young lady apologized and that was about it. Pizza for the most part and in my opinion, is an art. Really good pizza is really good pizza and consistency is everything. Will give Riverwalk a rest for a while and stick with Pizza Villa!
