I was surprised and how much space was outside. We grabbed some Adirondack chairs on the side of the stage where we able to enjoy the music of Corey comer. We were only gonna stay for a drink but the songs were so great we ended up staying for the rest of his set... lots of dancing and drinks... so much fun. Loved the sunset views of sodus bay. Picturesquely set on the eastern shore of Sodus Bay, this full-service water-front restaurant features seafood, pasta, prime rib, soups, salads, desserts and more. The restaurant is also available to get to by boat as the site also hosts a marina with slips for both transient boats and seasonal slip rentals. My wife was given a gift card for Skippers for her birthday, and over the weekend, we decided to go use it. It's situated somewhat in a residential neighborhood with a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant. We were sat right away. It was an early dinner for us, around 4PM. There were a couple other tables sat, but the restaurant was mostly open. We asked for an outdoor seat and were brought right back. The inside of the restaurant is large with 2 floors and was very dark inside. We were given our menus. Took a bit for our server to get to us, but no big deal. I ordered the risotto with chicken and a virgin pina colada while my wife got the lobster stuffed haddock with a drink special. As someone who doesn't drink alcohol, I always appreciate a restaurant that offers mocktails. Again, not a ton of tables sat, but it took a bit for us to get our food. Luckily, it was a beautiful day to just sit and look out onto the water. Our food was brought over and we got to it. Portions were large, but we both felt the food was just okay. My risotto had very little flavor, and the chicken was completely unseasoned. My wife said her food was fine, but the onion rings were the stand out of her meal. Our gift card was for $80 and our 2 meals and drinks came to $86. Our server was very friendly, but the service was slow for the amount of people there. Have loved going there for over 20 years under the previous owner. We were happy to visit yesterday and we had a great experience. We were seating promptly and the waitress came over within a minute. Drinks were delivered within minutes.entrees came in about 15 minutes, which was perfect for us to enjoy our cocktail. My husband's prime rib was super and his side pasta was delicious. My crab and lobster patty was a unique and very good . Portions are large . So glad the new owners are providing the same excellent experience we have always enjoyed there. read more

Out for a scenic drive and stopped for a potential dinner. Decided to start with a cocktail while perusing the menu. Hostess, "Two?" "Yes please. We'd like to start with a drink and look at the menu". "Go to the bar". "How about outside?" "Get your drink and take it to the gravel". This was mid-afternoon with many available empty outdoor tables. Also, no mention of an outdoor bar. We meandered to the outdoor bar, was greeted promptly and ordered two cocktails. OMG! Went to dinner Friday 7/5 with 21 people, all family! Joanna & Shea were our servers. Had a bunch of appetizers, salads, soup (lobster bisque)and entrees. First the clams casino were the best ever! Reminded me of our grandpa's recipe. Scallops wrapped in bacon....... What a treat, no grit, great bacon....... For entrees we ordered a variety. Being from the area, I've had beer battered Haddock fish fries for 45 years (I'm 62 now). This was easily the best I've ever had. Batter was light, haddock was flavorful..... the only problem was I couldn't finish my delicious fries, but took them home to breakfast potatoes. Johanna and Shea were outstanding. Several courses delivered on time and kids meals delivered in between so us parents could enjoy our dinners as well. Great service!! Great food!! Great value!! read more

I really want to give this place a 4, the staff were all super friendly, the location was beautiful, especially the outdoor seating right on the water at sunset. Decent selection of beers on tap. If all the food had been as good as my local perch fish fry I would probably give it a 5. The perch special was delicious. The rest of the food was average at best and ultimately that's what you have to score on. The bacon on the bacon wrapped scallops was overdone to the point of tasting burnt, which left the scallop inside rubbery. Way too heavy on the Caesar dressing. The Alfredo sauce was pasty, and just not very flavorful. I'll give this place another shot because of the location, but I'll stick to the specials and hope for the best. read more

Wolcott New York has been pleased to provide delicious food and friendly, efficient service to our guests here at Skipper's Landing on the eastern shore of Great Sodus Bay. Manhattan's For All Being from the Gulf coast makes it so hard for me to fathom that there is a lake that is the size of an ocean. Just on the other side is a different country. I am sitting at a restaurant having a drink with my fish and french fries, and it is hard to imagine that this is a lake. It feels like the Ocean; the seagulls tell me that it is an ocean and the endless view of water confirms it is an ocean. I think I will have a few more Manhattans and try to understand this alien life. read more

Just want you need after a boat ride or a long hike. I visited with family on a sunny weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Skippers landing is definitely not a vibey modern restaurant - but that's not what you're looking for here. It's a homegrown, good food, great people type of place. The inside is older and bathroom is small but what it lacks on the inside, it makes up for on the outside. We sat right by the water on a sunny breezy June afternoon - gorgeous views of the water and a cute outdoor bar just steps away. On sundays they offer both lunch and dinner menus. We opted for the more affordable lunch option and we're not disappointed. Fried fish was TENDER and crisp. The buffalo chicken sandwich was HUGE and delicious, served with tangy homemade ranch. The fries were standard, but the crispy bartered kind. Overall, excellent food and a good sense of Americana here. TO BE FAIR, I do think the prices are a little steep, but overall I can't complain. read more

We were so disappointed as this used to be a great place to eat; we have been there many times. There were six of us for dinner, and only one had a "good" dinner. The chicken with roasted vegetables was inedible, the shrimp scampi had no flavor, the fish was tasteless, the steak was ok, and the chicken parmesan was good. The chicken was the worst and was described as "probably pretty good before the chef got a hold of it." To be fair, we did have some good appetizers; the duck wings were liked by everyone and the brussel sprouts were ok. The server was trying, but it was apparent that more training had to be done. We had to continually ask for more water, for the dirty dishes to be removed from the table, for napkins, etc. After spending $400 plus tips, it was decided by everyone that we would not be returning. read more

What a great little place! We were out exploring the area and needed lunch so we stopped in here. Pretty big place that has a bar, inside dining as well as an outdoor patio. We started talking to Alex at the bar and we never left. He is very personable and funny! I ordered the potato chip crusted mahi mahi sandwich with sweet potato fries..it was SO GOOD! Alex had me try a Chipotle ranch sauce that was fabulous! He makes great drinks too! First time in the area due to an adventure out to Chimney Bluffs nearby (highly recommend) and stopped by Skipper's for a late lunch. We were seated on the back deck right on the water which made for a beautiful backdrop for our lunch. Ordered the Mahi potato chip crusted sandwich (delicious) and the fried fish fry (pretty good) and just enjoyed the afternoon. This is a great waterfront restaurant for outside! Outside, I give it 4 , inside 3 . Outside is great and the scenery even better. Book a late reservation to catch a beautiful sunset! Our food was good but not fabulous. We really went for the view. The bees were bad and so were the flies. If you don't, you should spray for bees or look for other repelling methods to create a pest free dining experience but I do realize it is the outdoors! Inside was very very loud! Couldn't even hear others at our own table at times. Annoying. Don't cram so many tables together you can't hear your own group. I will eat here again and hope for a better experience. read more

We were so looking forward to trying Skippers Landing with the new management and enjoying the beautiful deck and view plus their great food. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of labor on the first day of school, the deck was closed and we were seated indoors with no view. The people sitting at the windows didn't like the bright sunshine and closed the window blinds, so we were left sitting in a dark room! All tables were filled, so we couldn't move to another table. The food was delicious and service great, but sadly they no longer serve the wonderful hot buns, nor the excellent key lime pie. Overall, a great meal with great service, but disappointing ambiance. read more

This is a hidden little gem of a place! I stopped here for dinner after walking around the Chimney Bluffs park (if you haven't been, it's a must see and only 7 minutes from this restaurant). The outdoor seating is plastic chairs and tables with umbrellas that can be opened or closed. It's nothing fancy. But the view, oh the view! You're lakefront watching boats and jet skiers go by. It's beautiful. They also have a bar on the back deck and you can sit and grab a drink at the outdoor bar if you aren't here for food. Speaking of food, their salad bar and soups are included with your entree purchase. The salad bar was standard greens and veggies with several dressing options. Nothing to write about. The soups were phenomenal. When I was there they had a sherry crab soup (real crab) and veggie bacon soup (soooooo good, I had a second cup). They also have warm fresh bread that you can help yourself to at the salad bar. I had more than i needed. By the time my entree came, I was full. I had the fried perch with a side of pasta in garlic and oil. The etch was heavily batterer and I mainly only tasted the batter and not the fish. It was average at best. The side of pasta was very good. They had sea salt and pepper in grinders on the tables. I think sea salt really makes a difference with taste and I strongly prefer it to regular salt so that was nice. I also had the stout and it was chocolates and delicious. My server was super nice and came by multiple times with water, extra napkins, etc. Parking is free in the spots they offer and easy on the street if the spots are full. Overall, this place is super worth it for the view, a drink or two and the soups at the salad bar. As for the entrees, I would choose something other than what I had but I was already satisfied and full from just the salad, soup, bread and beer anyway. I absolutely get like I got my money's worth even if I didn't like the perch and the people couldn't have been nicer. If you're in the area, check this place out! read more

Steaks are excellent and menu sufficiently varied to cater to most diners. Staff is quite friendly and servers uniformly pleasant. Close to Chimney Bluffs State Park. Came by to get drinks and appetizers. The restaurant feels like the cabin of 1970s boat, which I liked, although might not be everyone's taste. Being close to water, this place was both clean, and well kept. No damp smells. For a nice day, the back patio felt great. I could have stayed out for hours. For a Tuesday it was surprisingly busy, and it was nice to see people coming and going by boat. I hope to go back sometime soon. We visited Skipper's Landing to celebrate our anniversary. The view was gorgeous and the food was delicious! This was our first dining out experience since the beginning of the pandemic. I felt safe as the staff followed the CDC guidelines. I highly recommend the French onion Soup and the Crab Cakes! They were outstanding. read more
