excited to find a cigar lounge close by.walked in to not the most pleasant welcome, dude just sitting on the couch buzzed head. no one else in there all i get is "we sell cigars"(obviously) and sodas i walk into the humidor and guy would not keep his eyes off of me . it was like i was being monitored the whole time. i just try to make small talk like "did you know this place was here" " how long have you been here" i get one word answers and i said maybe ill come back with my dad and brother we are always looking for a new spot... Heres the worst part that made say screw this place im not coming back..im waiting outside, waiting for my wife to come back from one of the shops and the dude rushes out the door practically slamming open the door and stands about a couple of feet away from me with a blank stare not saying a word watches me as a i get into my car im looking back dude is still staring he literally wont stop mad dogging as i pull out and look in my rear view window still staring WTF... sorry but he lookes coked out...looks like others had the same experience read more

This place is the dive of the cigar lounge world. It has a lot of potential but it appears that management hasn't cared much in a long time. The employee we encountered was nice. Huge humidor, with 90% of the boxes empty. Most of the cigars actually in stock are unknown house sticks. The cigars are dry. Very dry. Straw hay kind of dry. It was so sad to see cigars in that condition. If you plan to smoke there, you have to purchase two cigars or a cigar and a drink. They only had water and coffee. ??? If you're going to make that a requirement, you should stock a bit of an array. The lounge chairs are all similar in status...old and run down. The TV was "locked" and the employee working said he could call the manager to get it unlocked...whatever that means. The cell service was abysmal (we were on AT&T) and while the employee started streaming music, it would play for a couple seconds and pause for even longer...leading me to believe there wasn't WiFi available. To be fair, we didn't ask. I'm sure at one point, this was a great place. It isn't anymore. I've been to many lounges and this was the most run down I've ever encountered. read more

Negative 5 stars! Place is run down like an old Al Bundy's Chrysler. furniture looks like it was rescued from a landfill or stolen from the back alley. They have a bunch of non-label cigars that are very expensive and carry very limited known brands. Plus, whoever was attending wasn't much help. It looks like a bunch of regulars are the ones that keep the lights on, but place does have potential but don't see a bright future without a solid investment . First visit yesterday. Place is pretty much a dump and located next door to a sex/porn store. Furniture was ratty and old. Cigar selection in humidor is sketchy at best - saw no 'big brand names' at all and at least half of their inventory appeared to be unlabeled sticks. Employee there was nice but pretty much useless. We decided to walk in and give this place one last chance. Still no customer service. A very lax attitude as the employee was visiting with the customers as if he was one. We tried asking some questions but again the employee was too busy in a conversation with one customer after another as if visiting with old friends. We did not feel welcomed. In fact we felt as tho we had walked into a good ol boys club where we were intruding and a nuisance. I would have liked to have had a good experience. Hoping this place would have turned around and ready to take the opportunity redeem themselves. Unfortunately that is not the case. So sad. This used to be a favorite stop for us. It's all so unfortunate. It's been a year and I thought it might be a good idea to see if anything had changed. It hasn't. It's so sad. The previous owner did such a beautiful job with the place. In my humble opinion it's going to hell in a handbasket. Again in my humble opinion the owner has no clue what he's doing. Great cigar shop. Doesn't carry 2nd hand name brand garbage. Boutique cigars, great flavors that accommodate anyone's pallet, great informative service, and they also carry pipe tobacco and accessories. I don't agree with LH's review of it being a "s*** hole." I bet he even bought some cigars before leaving. I mean, who supports a " - hole" business if that were so? Lol Everyone is friendly at Refuge. Fun monthly cigar events at the Tartan and Our Brew too. Anyone who leaves a bad review either has other issues going on or is unfamiliar with the product. Quality greater than quantity. Total rip off, bought 5 non labeled cigars for 44 bucks. Smoked 2 and threw 3 cigars in the trash. Any good reviews must be fake or from friends. The inventory is 90 percent on labeled cigars that are supposed to be "main label cigars" I believe they might be Dutch Masters. read more

Recently visited this little gem on a trip. When you walk in the atmosphere has a great calming effect with the dark woods, natural colors, and leather seating. There is also a pool table and several TVs with sports and/or movies. The place was very clean and no overwhelming smell of smoke like other lounges I have been in. The owner was very pleasant, asked about my taste in coffee/tea, etc., and provided several options of cigars in varying price points. Never any pressure to purchase a certain type or amount. It is also felt very female friendly and didn't have that "boys only" vibe a lot of lounges have. I would like to reply to another review: I really don't understand what Kimberly S. is referring to in her review. Maybe she was at the Adult Store next door and put their review on the wrong page? This lounge in no way has a "hipster" vibe, nor does it smell anything at all like "disinfected jiz" (but to be honest, I have no idea what that would even smell like, so...). And the way she describes the other patrons as "lazy masses" really floors me and is offensive. read more

My friends and I were in town for a conference and de decided to come here for a cigar. We wanted to smoke them there so we needed to buy a cigar or pay a $10 cutting fee. No problem, we are use to buying a cigar if we are going to smoke in a lounge. Then they guy tells us if we want to bring in our own beer because they don't have a liquor license we had to buy two cigars each! That's ridiculous! I was already going to buy an $18.00 cigar. Worth the drive. Took me about an hour in traffic but so what. This place delivers when it comes to great service and selection. I'm your typical bargain hunter, phone calls all over before I make any purchases. Called a place in La only to be disappointed in their selections and prices. Talked to Ron at The Refuge, and of course they had what I was looking for at a great price. You can't beat their customer service. Joel was super welcoming at friendly even though I didn't have time to stick around. He showed me the Pipes I was eyeballing on their Instagram and some hard to find pipe tobacco that everyone else wants an arm and a leg for. I'm glad that they have kept a great lounge alive in the inland empire. I will be back again soon to probably buy too much, but how can you go wrong with such amazing choices. Popped in the shop, and like others, knew the prior owner and about the sell of the shop. I still came in out of respect for that owner and respect to the new crew. First, shout out to Mark (Marc) who greeted me and let me rome around the humidor, before coming in. I wish some shops did that instead of rushing you as soon as you walk in. Secondly, Mark knew his "shh" and his recommendations were spot on. Since I was in town for the weekend and my room was nearly across the street from the shop, I came in on back to back days, the second day, I spent a little bit of time and just chilled. Driving down the 10 and I Yelped for a cigar store nearby and found The Refuge Cigar Lounge. To my surprise this lounge is right off the freeway. A perfect way to escape the traffic and enjoy a nice cigar. Upon entrance the lounge has a vintage vibe to it with a spacious lounge to kick back and partake in your smoking experience. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone at the lounge was hanging out with various sections to have a conversation. Flanked by TVs all around and a pool table this is a laid back environment. They recently went through an ownership change and have made changes to their selection of cigars (house blends are amazing). I've visited different lounges and this has a "Cheers" atmosphere. The seats are oversized and worn in to allow you to sink into your chair. The ventilation is good too... I hate smokey lounges. They have a good assortment of cigars and pipes. Sometimes you find clicky customers who are regulars, but I felt welcomed during my stay. If you're looking for a lounge in Redlands with easy access off the freeway... Look no further. Prices are reasonable and they have great deals on their house blends which I actually liked better than the normal cigars that I smoke. If you're rolling thru the area or if you live nearby...
