What a find! We were in Westerly on a snowy day. Saw this place, pulled into a parking spot on the street and wandered in to a warm, inviting, cozy, tavern. The fireplace was an added treat. The meals were delicious. Yes, that cod reuben was very delicious. Large sandwich, many (too many!) fries, and drinks. Hamburger was also terrific. There is nothing we didn't like here. Even the restrooms are really nice! The bar was fairly busy for a random Saturday afternoon. When in the area again I would not hesitate to return there. The menu seemed quite diverse, also. I'm sure everyone would find something they would enjoy.

In the culinary world, the word WOW implies exceptional ambiance, food, and service. The Brazen Hen--now one of my new favorite restaurants--gets that rating on all counts. Bonus points for serving Bangers and Mash, a rarity in the Ocean State. Oh, and did I mention the excellent Kimchi? No? Well, their Kimchi was surprisingly tasty. On a scale of one to five, The Brazen Hen gets a ten.

We were looking for some friendly and simple and came across this wonderful Irish pub. Had a great meal, food was delicious. Service was a tad slow but that was to be expected at dinner time. Whiskey sauce on my streak was scrumptious!

First time eating dinner here...nice atmosphere, mostly Irish cuisine menu. My husband had the meatloaf dinner which was good but a little on the high priced side for meatloaf. I had a Caesar salad with chicken that came out not cooked very well so I had to send it back. He started with the guineas French onion soup & I had the pretzels with beer cheese & spicy mustard which was excellent. Pretzels were great too. Service was average. Menu a little on the pricier side for what you get.

Best meatloaf in the world. Words I will swear by til the death. We stumbled upon this local Irish pub restaurant last July and knew we had to stop again when we had work in RI. The meatloaf is a blend of veal, corned beef, and pork. It's tender, and juicy, but also slightly dense in the best possible way. The brown onion gravy is savory. Mashed potatoes are homemade and richly flavored, maybe a hint of sour cream and lots of butter. The julienned carrots and squash accompany the french style green beans perfectly. Do yourself a favor and order extra squash and carrots, they are absolutely delicious.

Awesome pub! The waitress was a terrible ditz (my friend had to ask 3 times for water) and I wasn't given the correct drink, but the bacon wrapped scallops, calamari, and stuffed clams were phenomenal. Kudos to their chef!

Why two forks, no salad with meal. Booooo.

I don't know about the food, but this is the only bar I've been to around here that knows how to pour a Guinness. Cheers.

Being my first time here I was pleased with the view as it was a lovely day to be by the water. We had a 45 minute wait for our table. Though you're able to go to the bar seating around in the back where we waited for our table. We ordered our delicious drinks as we had a wait time. I ordered the pain killer drink which was so delicious and strong. Only drinks and can't order appetizers though which I was disappointed as I didn't have anything to eat prior and I started to feel my drink. Once your buzzer is called you finally get your table which they have 15 tables available. The hostess in this area escorts your party to your table. There really isn't a bad seats there. There is a separate waitress for the bar area so you have to settle your bar table before moving over to your table. The menu has a plentiful of meals to choose from. I went with the fish & chips which was a good amount of cod. Also we had the oysters to start off with. The food was very delicious. We declined with the deserts as we were full. If you haven't been to the Dog Fish Cafe you should as you won't be disappointed with the fresh seafood they serve there.

Warmly summer day, sitting outside under the umbrella and watching the comings and goings of the dock. Awesome! We had a wonderful lunch. Local made brew offerings were a nice compliment to the bay scallops, which was a filling meal with veggies and potatoes. The Tuna Poké bowl was so tasty, I wish there was more! And a blueberry crisp special was shared by all. We will make the trek here again!

The shrimp presented in the cocktail were cold, crisp and fresh and the sauce had a great taste and consistency. We also enjoyed the DPI skewers that included a bit of steak tip, a sea scallop and a fresh shrimp that was that was grilled to perfection and drizzled with a bit of horseradish cream sauce. The staff members are always welcoming and the aura of the visitors -since we became a nation seem ever-present. Bravo DPI... See you soon. On a visit to Mystic, I could not wait to find a restaurant that served more seafood than I could easily settle on. Sitting in the Mystic Marriott lobby, yelp pointed us to the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. What a find. Although the building was restored in 1979, it's origin dates to 1756. Everything seems to have been preserved -including the aura. As you would expect with a building older than the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is small in size but large in hospitality. Without reservations, we did not stand much of a chance in the upstairs dinning area, but a flight of stairs down to the pub in the cellar... and we were seated in 20 minutes. For appetizers, we had the phyllo dough lobster lollipops and an order of artichoke hearts that were resting in a light lobster sauce (the artichoke that is) that invited us to soak up what was left with the delicious homemade bread we were served. For our main course we had the halibut steak that was sitting on top of freshly mashed potatoes with a smattering of fresh corn kernels. The customer service attendants were mindful of their tables and visited at opportune times. -Not when you start to take a bite and never did we wonder where they might have gone off to. Parking was a bit of a challenge but by far worth the hunt. If you are looking for a very friendly restaurant with a historical beginning and great food... Look no further. DPI is a definite re-visit for us.

On our most recent visit, after each of us had only eaten a few bites and hadn't even finished our first drinks, the waitress came over asking if we wanted a box. A little later, she came back and started boxing up our food without even asking us first--even though we were still eating. At the same time, she dropped off the check and said, "No rush." We had also ordered a second round of drinks and had only taken a couple of sips. Unfortunately, this wasn't a one-time experience. Every visit has felt like the staff is trying to hurry us out the door. The food is good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. When I'm spending over $100 for a meal, I expect to be able to enjoy it without feeling like I'm being pushed out. Honestly, I don't think it should matter whether a table spends $20 or $200--every customer deserves to feel welcome and not rushed. It's not a great feeling, and it's the reason we'll be thinking twice before returning.
