Just had dinner at the Ridge in Hawley PA (previously Falls Port Inn) What a treat !! From before dinner drinks to dessert this place offers an exceptional dining experience. Excellent service, friendly staff and the owners hands on warm and welcoming personality is refreshing. The menu + specials rivals any 5* competition. In the Lake region of Walkenpaupack it is a must on your dining to do list. Or even if you need to make it a destination it will not disappoint. The food and ambiance is excellent. This review is in reference to their reservations system. I called and left message per instructions. When I didn't hear back, called once they were open and was told there had only been static on my message. They had my phone number, though, so why not call back to follow up? This part of PA has sketchy cell service. Did the non-local number make them think it was a one time dinner? As a result, we were unable to eat there tonight. Repeat business is necessary for a restaurant, I would think, and when it's no longer the high season, I still may choose to stay away. read more

Best place ever. This was probably our seventh time going there and we have never ever been disappointed nor upset with our experience. In fact every time we have been very pleased. The food is so amazing I don't know how to describe it. The service is one of a kind in the way they treat you like family. They sit down with you at the table and explain the appetizers in full detail. Tonight our car key battery died and the staff had an extra flat round battery that they brought out and helped us install. Even after that they came out to check and make sure the car started up. Definitely make reservations plenty ahead of time. Would eat there every night if it was possible. read more

The Ridge starts out by making you feel right at home. They follow that up with super attentive service delivering absolutely delicious food in mega portions. We had a holiday party there this week and they could not have been more accommodating. The food here is FANTASTIC! It was delicious and plentiful. Whatever you order comes with enough for two full meals. It was all fresh and hot. The wait staff who are family were very friendly and the drinks were excellent as well. Plan on spending the entire evening, however, as the service was a bit slow but well worth it for the great food. Just got home after having dinner at this marvelous restaurant, with 2 of our closest friends. We went early (4:00pm) for the early bird special. Our server, Duffy introduced himself, asked if we have been here before, then promptly sat at our table and explained the specials in great detail. He was very personable,professional and funny. He set a wonderful mood for the night!! There are two early bird specials, one that has 4 courses and the second with 3 courses. We opted for the 4 course which includes appetizer and dessert. At $25 and $20 respectively the price can't be beat.The food was out of this world, with generous portions, my wife needed a doggy bag. The Italian bread tasted like NYC bread! Dessert was a plate of mini cannolis that were delicious!! Just can't say enough about the food and service, looking forward to going back!!! read more

Worth a visit. Last Saturday night six of us went for the early bird special. Reservations a must, they get busy. Waiter was very attentive and was knowledgeable. Main dining room was neat and not crowded with a large gas fireplace. Several selections in the pasta, meat and seafood areas, traditional American-Italian offerings. I started with the tortellini stracciatelli soup, a large portion, a meal in itself, not salty at all. Another diner ordered the mozzarella and tomatoes, The hot antipasto for two was also well appointed, prepared and decent quantity. Salad was served family style with the house Italian dressing. The salmon entree was a large piece. I had the Chicken Marsala, decent portion but it tasted too sweet. The veal or chicken parm was a large portion over a large helping of linguini. What was disappointing for me, we had no choice for linguini or mashed potatoes. My dinner was served with mashed potatoes and string beans from a can. Don't call yourself an Italian restaurant and serve mashed potatoes. You can get that at the diner. One of several dessert offering was the cannoli. Two miniature cannoli with home made whipped cream on the side. The filling was the correct flavor with miniature chocolate kisses. The shells were not flakey and too hard. The house carafes of wine were, I thought pricey for jug wine. As the evening continued the noise level became intolerable due to, I imagine, the tin ceiling. I find it insulting to be called, "You guys", by the wait staff. I am not ,"You guys", my wife is not, "you guys". The other couples we were with are not, "You Guys". I do not know where wait staff people got this idea that this is an acceptable greeting for adults. It is not! Maybe ok, if you are talking to a bunch of teenagers but never to adults. The management of The Ridge needs to instruct the wait staff that dining guests are not to be greeted like they are their pals. When so greeted I usually correct the wait person. I did not want to cause a scene so I bit my tongue on this occasion. Well worth repeated visits to try the entire menu. read more

I used to enjoy coming here but have noticed lately the quality of food and the service have steadily declined. Last weekend was the final straw and we will not be returning. Four of us had an 8:00 reservation and were seated promptly. We waited an hour and a half for the salad and the entrees arrived a half hour after that. When they finally were brought to the table I said to my husband that I didn't think it was what I ordered. He said it was and I jokingly told him that I must've forgotten cause I had ordered two hours ago. The waiter said in a nasty tone "just relax!" Relax??!! I wasn't even talking to him and furthermore a more appropriate interjection would've been something like I'm sorry for not stopping by the table for two hours or for nobody even filling your waters glasses in that time. As we were leaving my husband said something to him and he apologized and told me he didn't mean to be rude he meant to be nice by telling me to relax. Really??? read more

Went there for our anniversary on April 16,2016 bad choice. We were seated at a little table by the door. We asked to be changed and were told the other tables were for reservations. We have reservations. The hostess than said she would check with her manager and let us know. She never came back to us but instead stood by her podium glancing over at us and saying something to another hostess. Our waitress, a very nice lady by the name of Rhonda, made the rest of the evening worthwhile because the food left a lot to be desired. The portions were plenty but the flavor wasn't there. We had a wonderful experience at The Ridge earlier this week. This was our first time visiting this restaurant. It was early evening, so we decided to try their early bird four course dinner which includes an appetizer, salad, entrée, dessert (chef's choice) and coffee/tea for $25 per person. (There's also a $20 early bird menu available that skips the appetizer course.) For our starting course, my husband and I shared the hot antipasto for two. It was a huge and delicious platter that included clams, mussels, shrimp, rolled eggplant, stuffed mushrooms and artichokes. Yep, all of it...very well prepared, very tasty. Be prepared. It's rich. I could have quit there, but was nevertheless excited (greedy) to sample the rest of the courses. We were served a simple, fresh, lightly dressed house salad. Our entrees were fettucine portofino, al dente, with shallots, artichokes, mushrooms and prosciutto in a creamy sauce and chicken francaise, served with a perfect baked potato and freshly prepared zucchini and carrots. Both main courses were absolutely delicious. We finished off with coffee and two mini-conolli each. Needless to say, we took quite a bit home in our "doggy" bag. That being said, don't get the impression that The Ridge substitutes quantity for quality. That's not the case. All of the food was exceptionally prepared. I can't walk away from this review without mentioning the warm and welcoming atmosphere at the restaurant and the truly, truly terrific service (in our case, from Marissa...very sweet, very attentive, very professional). The Ridge is the very definition of a family operation. Mom, pop and several adult kids were all working their hearts out to create that restaurant you just have to get back to ASAP. We ate here on12 November 2017. The artichoke app was good, but the lamb encrusted lollipops with sauce app with sautéed spinach was not. The sautéed spinach was not hot, but cold to the touch. When I asked about it, the waiter stated that it was made earlier. He did not even bring it back out of the kitchen with the sauce for us to finish eating. The "Sunday gravy" was so so. We finally made it to "The Ridge" Saturday night !! Had reservations for 7:30. We were greeted by Beth (owner/hostess),and Jess(#1bartender), we were seated immediately. Our server was Gina, she was fantastic !! She, and her sister Marissa, described the specials in such detail. 3 appetizers and 4 entrees that sounded so good, we never even looked at the menu !! The stage was set and the food began to arrive at a very comfortable pace. From the appetizers to the entrees it was truly a phenomenally delicious dining experience !! During our meal we were also checked on by John ( food runner), and Chris (owner/table side chef). Both of whom,also made us feel like family. Although we probably shouldn't have, we somehow made it through espresso and desert. OMG !! Also delicious !! During coffee we were greeted by Dave (owner/chef), and Chef Frank. Look the food is good but they advertise and I quote "Our Goal At The Ridge... We treat our staff like family and customers like guests in our home..." Well forget this. We made reservations 2 weeks in advance for 9 people. We arrived early for a 5 PM sitting and were ushered to a room off to the side they call "piccola cucina". HORRIBLE...... Noisy with no ambiance. Our table was two tables together making conversation impossible. No other guest was seated in this room for our entire dinner. We immediately told the hostess we did not like the sitting but were offered no alternative. We spoke to the manger who did close the door to the adjoining kitchen but nothing else. The bill was over $500 with a generous 20% tip for the waitress (wasn't their fault management elected to treat their customers like pests not guests). Upon leaving we did check the main dining area. We had a 5:30 reservation for 3 people on a Sunday evening, we arrived on time. The hostess first could not find our reservation and then left us standing in an obviously empty restaurant. After 15 minutes we were seated in the tap room. We order cocktails to start. The wait staff was friendly, and helpful. Excellent food (SO much food), amazing family owned atmosphere. Wonderful service, charming place, and especially wonderful food. They have a special Wednesday to Saturday from 4-6 $25 a person for a four course meal (they do not skimp on anything!! The portions are HUGE!) the appetizers alone would have been enough, but it was truly amazing. The zuppa de clams and zuppa de mussels appetizers were to die for (we could have made a meal out of that) and the entrees were HUGE (veal sorrentino with eggplant, riggotta and fresh mozzarella was amazing! There were Two large veal pieces in one portion, which could have probably fed three people). They also give you Two cannolis per person for the dessert with this special. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to go for a nice meal out, excellent food, and a wonderful atmosphere!! read more

This was our first time dining at this establishment since the new ownership in Jan 2016. Not only did our meal take over 4 hours, but the service was horrible from the bartender who was inattentive and allowed waitresses to make their own drinks & left the bar unattended to take food orders to the kitchen, the hostess was rude when she couldn't find our reservation, waitress who forgot we were her table and worst of all -- we ordered chicken parmigiana that came out raw! Thank goodness my boyfriend noticed or we would have been at the ER. We didn't want to make a big deal out of this at all, but after only a bus boy took our meal to the kitchen and our waitress who was later found out to be a manager -- never even came back to our table until we asked for her, we became increasingly irritated. As we noticed, the cook made a visit outside to the dining room to say hi to friends, but he was too busy to stop by our table in his poor attire and clearly bad hygiene. We found out later the hostess, waitress, and wife of the said story was actually Beth -- an owner. This only disappointed us more in the how the situation was handled. His personal appearance explains our poor experience and food quality. After all of this, they graciously acted as though they did us a favor by taking our raw meal that we didn't eat off our bill but still charging for everything else. My boyfriend never even had dinner at 4+ hours! The food quality was poor and worst of all the management of this restaurant, as almost every diner noticed, was the worst. We don't anticipate this restaurant being around another season unless "restaurant rescue" stops by! read more

I'd like to start on a positive note, the food. We all ordered off the menu, I had Chicken Sorrentino with pasta, as did my wife, it was excellent and the pasta done to perfection. Our friends had Chicken Florentine with baked potato and they also said it was very good, tender and prepared to perfection. Dinners were 5 star worthy. Now for the reason for 3 star rating. We arrived at 6:55 for a 7pm reservation on a Saturday night. Were told it would be about 10 min, OK they were busy. Didn't get seated until 7:30, again Saturday night guess we just have to accept that. Once we were seated, we waited another 15 minutes until our waitress came over to our table. She was pleasant and took our drink order along with describing the specials. After another 15 minutes our drinks arrived, but it wasn't our waitress, just drinks being brought to the table. Our waitress returned after another 15 minutes and took our order. When our dinners arrived, again it was not the waitress, but someone bring our meals to the table. When we asked for grated cheese, the young man said he'd get the waitress. Almost another 15 minutes, we were practically finished, waitress arrived asked how was everything, and again we asked for grated cheese, 2 waters, glass of wine and a beer. Wine and beer arrived, no water and no grated cheese. Again not our waitress, but now a young lady helping out. Finally gave up on the cheese and water. Well, we finally finished, paid our bill and left at 9:45. Not sure if they need more waitress/waiters or have a small kitchen staff, or over book, but there is definitely a problem. Would love to see the service improve, because the food is great. Will try again during the week, perhaps not so crowded service will be better. Sorry for the 3 stars, but really need to improve service. I have never paid much attention to the noise level in a restaurant, people gather and talk. However, the noise level here is VERY LOUD!!! They need to look into sound absorbing treatment on the ceiling and walls. read more

Firstly, let me say our waiter Jordan was AMAZING and so welcoming! Everything else was pretty much crappy. We made a 7:30 reservation and were not seated until 7:50 pm (because they were cleaning the table from the time we got there which was 7:22 pm and were seated at 7:50 pm). Jordan fully explained all of the specials which sounded delicious and we ordered immediately. Come to find out, they ran out of ALL of the specials (after ordering 3 different specials). We waited over an hour for our food. My friend ordered chicken parm but received eggplant parm instead. Frustrated with the long wait she refused another meal because we waited so long for our meals to begin with. It probably would've been another hour before she got her chicken parm. The manager then came over to give a meaningless apology and said her entree would be right out. She had to explain three times that she did not want another entree but ended up giving it to her to go. We did not feel welcomed by any of the staff other than Jordan but What can I say, we were the only biracial group there. read more
