Inexpensive food but nothing to write home about. I wouldn't recommend this place due to the heavy cigarette smoke smell wafting in from the dive bar side of the building. A HEPA air filter would probably help on the restaurant side. The Cajun chicken sandwich was pretty generic but I appreciate that the mushrooms and jalapenos on it were fresh, not canned. read more

Not sure how this only has 3 1/2 stars. We had a fantastic experience here. Ally, the bartender, made an AMAZING spicy bloody mary, even topping it with local pickled asparagus. The burger (get it cajon style) was juicy and delicious. The fry sauce was awesome. Also had the steak fingers with homemade bbq sauce. Steak was tender. Bbq sauce was so good we asked if they could bottle the stuff for purchase. Definitely a place to stop along the scenic byway. read more

Driving by I saw rainbow trout on the billboard. Did a u turn and glad I did. Everybody in there was smiling. The service was prompt and friendly. I even got a great tip to find an awesome waterfall. The fish was really good! I definitely recommend this place. read more

If you're driving from Boise to Twin Falls along the I-84 you have to make a side trip to Hagerman (about 8 mi off the freeway) and visit the River Boat Restaurant. The whole staff is friendly. The food is freshly made and great. Try the Cajun chicken sandwich for lunch. It's amazing! If you don't see it on the menu just asked the chef. He'll make it for you special. He's from New Orleans and he knows Cajun! Yeah baby! read more

I was hesitant at first when I arrived the dining area is really small with a country style. The waitress was really nice and did a really good job. I ordered the finger steaks which were spectacular they were not breaded and very good. I am very picky about my streak and the way it is cooked. I just got the basket and they give you a lot! Their fries were fresh and cooked just right. I also got breaded shrimp which was good. I recommend this place if your stopping by! read more

Stopped here based on the number of cars in the lot. Figured it must be good. However, that was misleading. Neither the restaurant or bar had many patrons. Restaurant is very small and the fly situation was kinda gross. So might consider taking your order to go. Food was decent and the fries were awesome! I was excited after reading the reviews. Boy was I disappointed!! It took 15 minutes to get waited on and we were the only ones in the restaurant. I had to finally go and find someone.They were in the bar. When we finally got our food the potatoes were soured and cold!!! When I told her about them, she didn't even care. I went here in 2008 and it was fantastic. But a few weeks ago, not so good. I had a steak wrap. It was really good. But my friend had a burger, and it was raw in the middle. The onion rings were burnt, and not edible. I've heard such good things about this place, I sure hope it gets better! read more

My family stopped into the Riverboat for lunch after reading a few reviews. In short..not impressed. We ordered the special which was a burger, soup/salad and fries. We were excited as he had seen the fries on another plate and they looked freshly cut. The soup had a lovely grease slick on top..not impressed. My daughter's salad had iceberg topped with lunch meat and ripped up american sliced cheese. Really, american singles..you gotta be kidding me! The fries we had been hoping for were a major disappointment. They were cold and possibly overcooked as when you bit into them there was no potato inside! It was like cold fluff..very odd. The topper was when all the dust off the speedy ceiling fan fell on our food! We pointed it to our waitress and she turned the fan down..Wow..thanks! You would think that a very small town family owned restaurant would do things better..guess not in this case..I won't return any time soon. read more

What a horrible dining experience. The staff were rude. The cook argued with the waitress the whole time. When I couldn't eat my Chicken Pomodoro because it was had too much salt and pepper. They offered to remake it. I didn't want more of the same so said to take it off my bill. I was told the manager didn't comp food. I asked to talk to the manager and was told they weren't available. Was charged for three bags of tea which I didn't get. Asked them to be taken off and was refused. My husband had the worst prime rib. It was to be medium rare and came out med well. Looked like the dropped the baked potato as it was crushed. I would not recommend this place ever. Save your money. I even refused to sign the ticket and still didn't get to talk to anyone. read more

This is the second time we've been to riverboat and it wasn't as good as the first. The clams were great but the accompanying garlic bread was ridden in butter and very greasy. The trout in the trout fish and chips was great but the chips were greasy. And the trout almandine was swimming in butter and way too rich to eat. All in all disappointing. We had talked about taking visitors there but we will rethink that decision now. read more

My friend and I stopped by here on a Saturday night. We were the only patrons in the restaurant on a Satrurday night.We asked if they were still open and were told that yes indeed, they we definitely still open for business. First clue that something might not be right. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and trout almondine. The mushrooms were obviously pre-made and tasted dried out, like they had sat in the fridge for a few days. When the trout almondine came out it was basically a steamed trout filet with no sauce whatsoever. Not my definition of trout almondine, nor anybody's. Also, we could plainly hear the waitress arguing with the kitchen staff about not spacing out the appetizer and main course. The cook stated that "we are closed, what do you want me to do about it..."During our meal, another bar customer's food was returned to the kitchen because it was rotten. We could hear the kitchen staff snickering and loudly taste testing and smelling the bad meat. Gross. read more

Hubby and I both had the Swiss bacon burger. They make their own hamburger patties and looked like homemade french fries. The burger was large and messy, just like we like them. Fries were not greasy and excellent. I could not eat all my fries as too many. Owner came out a couple of times to see how we were doing and to chat. Nothing fancy, but good home cooking and friendly atmosphere. Cost is very reasonable. Both our burgers and ice teas came to $20.14 including tax. After driving a long on the road we were a bit hungry. After arriving at the restaurant we were greeted by a seemingly understaffed restaurant. As you can imagine a restaurant that is understaffed and a semi busy is a recipe for slow service. After seating our selves it took around 10 mins for us to get our menus, once we got our menus it took another 10 mins to take our order. We received our drinks before the food came out and we drank them up, instead of a waitress collecting our glasses and refilling them we got up and did it ourselves. Took around 20 mins to receive the food. Everything seemed a bit overcooked. I ordered a burger and I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked, I feel the standard burger cooking should be medium, NOT well done. Fries are also on the overcooked side. Other than the over cooking the burger was an average burger with average fries. On the other hand the fish was very flavorful. If you are hungry and nothing to eat is around this maybe is a good place to stop. Maybe you will get lucky and there will be more staff on hand. read more
