Shrimp Cigars-cream cheese, bits of shrimp and seasoning.

Staff was very hospitable from the gentleman who greeted us at the door to the staff who seated and served us. It was one of the only restaurants that wasn't "over heated"- we actually tried 2 other places but the heating was on so high, we left before being served. Atmosphere: funky, old school style, we had the hamburger and fries, and the shrimp cigars. The bun was a "little" dry, with the altitude we heard it can happen, overall the burgers and fries were good, not exceptionally-but not bad either. The Shrimp Cigars-very filling and tasty. They tasted very fresh-not frozen. (Not sure if they were frozen-either way, they were delicious.) I would definitely get them again-my only regret, they were so filling I didn't get to try anything else on the menu.

Interesting and comfy atmosphere albeit slightly chilly; and mind you, I went in the autumn. The service is prompt, responsive, and friendly. Food-wise, I recommend coming here if only for the fact that so many exotic meats are represented here, particularly in sometimes uncommon fashion. The prices are a bit high for the area and execution, however; and to that end, I would note the items range from a C- to borderline C/C+ in terms of enjoyment. If you're a cityzen, you definitely want to visit here with your party and try 4 or 5 different exotic meats. As I am not seasoned enough in exotic meats to exactly determine such, but I am an avid eater (and carnivore) all the same, I will caveat my judgment of quality of ingredients to be slightly below average; with execution and seasoning being the main culprit as to why the items are not fleshed out to their full potential.

OMG!! I LOVE everything about this restaurant!!! The service AND food was the perfect end to a beautiful day exploring Estes Park! The appetizers were amazing and the ribs were so good!! I can't recommend this place enough!! We also got to meet the owner who started working there in the kitchen when he was in school. Love supporting local businesses!

This was my step sons choice. First it was way over priced and the burgers all of them were over cooked. Why ask how you want it cooked of you can not cook them correctly. Service was average at best large party tip was added 18%. 4 meals with 2 beers $150.. what a waste

I didn't have the greatest experience at grub steak. Even though the restaurant was not busy, the service was extremely slow and my group was only getting drinks. On top of that, the drinks we ordered came out tasting different each time. Very large patio to hang out if it's a nice day/night! Some cocktail options if that's what you're looking for.

While in Estes Park with my cousin, we were in search of a restaurant downtown with game meat. We viewed the menu outside Grubsteak and decided to stop in. The menu offered starters, salads and soups, entrees like game meatloaf (antelope, boar, venison, & elk), burgers (beef, yak, bison, elk, or inpossible), desserts, & drinks. We sat at a picnic table outside on a cool evening with cold beers where we could see a bit of the view over the fence. We started with wild boar stuffed mushroom caps and shrimp cigars. Two starters was a good option to share for three to four people. I would order the mushrooms again, but maybe not the shrimp cigars. We each had a burger for our main entree and subbed onion rings for fries. If you like thick cut onion rings, this is the choice to make. Two of us had elk burgers, and my cousin ordered the yak. The burgers were built well, but I'd say slightly over cooked. We all had a green chile on our burgers which was great. We also each had a beer. I had an Odell Friek sour beer, my cousin ordered a Guinness, & my partner had a michelada which was surprisingly nice and spicy! Our server and runners were very attentive, helpful, and responsive. Overall, I would give the food 3 stars and service 5 stars.

I'll start by saying service was good. Food was way overpriced and lacked flavor. We were excited their burgers are cooked to order. Well...all were ordered medium rare and not one of them was less than well done. And with elk meat being lean, a well done burger is just dry. We didn't let the server know as we were a party of 11 and didn't want to cause a fuss or delay meals further considering it already took incredibly long time to get our food. We got there at 11'ish and they were not very busy until we were leaving.

After margaritas river rock lounge! We were so happy!

Dined here with my wife. We both had the Buffalo Ribeye and it was outstanding. You won't find a better steak in Estes. Highly recommend.

Our kids (14 & 12) are experienced pool players; we typically play together as a family or let them play a game on their own while we enjoy a few rounds. We've been in 4 times this week alone and were welcomed every time. Today, we were abruptly told they couldn't play due to a 16+ rule by a young bartender who has always allowed us to play. He mentioned that the owner doesn't like kids playing and there is a sign. While there is a sign posted behind the wall and not clearly marked, it has been completely ignored by staff and other families for the years we've been coming here, and certainly wasn't mentioned during our other visits this week. Even today, it seemed to be selectively enforced. If a family is respectful, knows how to use the equipment properly, and has been welcomed all week, there should be some common sense and hospitality applied--especially for repeat customers. To allow it for days and then suddenly change the rules on our 5th visit is just poor hospitality and frankly feels slightly discriminatory.

My husband loved and would recommend it. We both grabbed some Parmesan fries and DEVOURED them! Incredible, 10/10. I had the pulled pork and was admittedly a bit disappointed in it being somewhat dry. Though the coleslaw on top was nice, as was the overall flavor! I wouldn't rule it out, I just may not have gotten it on the best night. I should also note that some say it's downtown estes. And it is technically walkable, I THINK, because you can walk along the river, but it's a bit far from what I would personally call "downtown" if you were to walk. I'd recommend driving unless you want a longer walk. They have plenty of parking, though we are here in the off season. The staff was kind, but we had little interaction. Overall, I'd try it again.
