Wapiti is a great spot in Estes for a hearty meal! The bun on the ranchhand burger was a bit thick, but a really good burger - juicy and cooked really well! My husband loved and would recommend it. We both grabbed some Parmesan fries and DEVOURED them! Incredible, 10/10. I had the pulled pork and was admittedly a bit disappointed in it being somewhat dry. Though the coleslaw on top was nice, as was the overall flavor! I wouldn't rule it out, I just may not have gotten it on the best night. I should also note that some say it's downtown estes. And it is technically walkable, I THINK, because you can walk along the river, but it's a bit far from what I would personally call "downtown" if you were to walk. I'd recommend driving unless you want a longer walk. They have plenty of parking, though we are here in the off season. The staff was kind, but we had little interaction. Overall, I'd try it again. read more

The ambience here is very nice. Comfortable and clean, situated near Nicky's resort and has some outdoor seating. The food on the other is just ok. Nothing special. It was prime rib night and i was excited to order. The prime rib was blah and unseasoned. The baked potato was good. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich and it was not good. Very thin and dry, no sauce on the bun, he had to ask for mayo. Maybe our orders were a one-off because i see other reviews raving about the food here. We spent three days in Estes and came here two of the nights! We had dinner and drinks the first night. We weren't starving so we ordered light. The one piece fried cod and homemade chips were delicious. Burger was good and side salad had fresh veggies in it. The homemade blue cheese dressing was delicious! After dinner we moved outside to their amazing patio for drinks. The Fall River literally runs under and beside the patio! It's so pretty and the mountains in the background aren't too shabby either! I ordered a Painkiller cocktail and it was amazing! There are 100's of bourbons, whiskeys and scotch as well as everything else you need to make a hand crafted cocktail! The owner Tory was the bartender that night and he was super friendly and knowledgeable a bout the area. We decided to come back again the next evening for after dinner drinks. I had one of the best Piña Coladas I've ever had...All hand made, not a mix in sight! Seriously delicious! One of the best selections of allocated Kentucky bourbon that you will find and the best prices. The owner says I would rather move it than it sit. And that is fantastic for me and any bourbon lover. If you're in Estes Park, check this place out. Overall, it is a really great place. Great atmosphere. Old timey log cabin decor. Plenty of seating. Staff is really cool. Very friendly, professional, and attentive. Food is great. When you ask a question about something on the menu, they give you a descriptive answer. They don't just say something like, Yeah it's good. The food is great. High quality and big portions -- Burgers, Sandwiches, Nachos, Chili, and all sorts of entrees. This restaurant was recommended by Streamside on Fall River since it was right next door. Great lodge-like decor with open rooms and seating outside along the river. They have a huge bar and a varied menu. The food was good and the service was fast and friendly. It's a great choice if you want to get away from the downtown Estes Park crowds. read more

We have eaten here several times because every time the food is delicious and the service is great. My daughter loves spaghetti so we're always excited to find it on a kids menu. We should have gone to McDonald's. I tried to elk burger at this place and it was like a dry grassy hamburger. Not sure if it's supposed to taste like that. Not worth the money. When we left Estes we apologized to a local elk about eating its relative and that it didn't even taste good. I also can't help but to call the place "wapeepee". My girl and I enjoyed a wonderful evening here and had the best waiter one could ask for. We did not eat as we were only there to have a few drinks and sit by the river. Driving through Estes and stoped in for a snack and a brew. We got there right before the rush, so we were seated almost right away. The food was delicious and the pumpkin ale with a cinnamon spiced rim was perfect. The waiter was friendly, but with the lunch rush it did take awhile for things to come back at different times. I recommend sitting outside on the water, it was very peaceful and pretty. The lobby was jam packed as we were leaving. Not sure how good the rest of the food is. This is a no-frills type of place, in the best way. They have a large interior dining area coupled with a nice, sprawling outdoor patio overlooking the river to soak in those lovely Colorado days and nights. Menu has a lot of options so anyone in your party should be able to find something to suit their taste and dietary needs. We've been to the new Wapiti numerous times and it had been good. If tonight was my first time there, I'd never return. We were seated quickly outdoors over the river as requested. (3) they were ok, but a very skimpy serving of very dry brisket with barbecue sauce and tiny slaw on top. Street taco sized, I was surprised that they didn't come with a side. My husband had the French Dip-/again a very small serving of very dry stringy beef--not the French Dip beef expected, with a side of quite tasty fries. Had our waiter ever appeared again, we would have complained directly--but he vanished even though I had my empty glass of water conspicuously on the table edge until he finally appeared with the check. He said, " was everything great?" Awaiting agreement. I replied " the setting is beautiful. " He then stood by as we paid the check. Which came with 3 tipping options, 25%, 22%, or 20%. In your dreams! My exceedingly kind husband entered manually a generous 18% tip. And we left. We 'll probably be back as it's just a half mile from our house, but they seriously need to up their game. read more

Solid place to stop by for a good bite to eat before skedaddling Estes Park! Lots of choices - both food and drinks. I wasn't too hungry, so I chose the fish tacos but they were GINORMOUS. Thought they would be overpriced tiny pieces but you get what you paid for. Huge with very crispy fish that is full of flavor! I ended up taking the other piece home. The cheeseburger was good but nothing apparently special to justify $17 price. And the sirloin steak sandwich wasn't really a sandwich; a nice chunck of beef on a skinny piece of bread (no top bread).
