Went to the Rolling Tomato with my wife and another couple. We got Love salads which we split with our spouses. We ordered 1 red pizza (Jackson Hole) and 1 white pizza (Poor Harley). The salads were great and enough for 2 people. The pizzas were also great. Very different flavor explosions. Next time I will try one of their sandwiches. It is BYOB, which we love! We tried this pizza while walking around downtown Niantic. I had had it before and it was DELICIOUS, but this time, the chicken on the pizza was grey and had a funny taste to it. The owner came over and asked if everything was good, I regret not telling him the truth. We ultimately picked off the chicken and still ate it because at $15 for a smaller pizza we didn't want it to go to waste. Don't let the looks of this place fool you. The pizza is vey good. Me and some of the guys from work went and had the Kona and the Big Stubby. We were all happy and will be going back. I plan on going back very soon so that my wife and kids can have some of this pizza. The prices are also much lower than some of the other pizza places in the Groton area. I'm a huge fan of Neapolitan pizza and I'm always searching for pizza that compares to real Italian pizza. The closest I've found is in Providence, RI. Walking into this place I almost turned around. It looks like a cafeteria. It's a brightly lit, and shares space with a grinder joint, and a coffee counter. It's weird. But, because their rating on Yelp had 4.5 stars, I kept walking. My friends and I ordered a couple of pizzas and sat down. They came out a couple of minutes later, and were absolutely delicious! Friendly staff, great prices, and awesome pizza. The boyfriend and I finally decided to venture here, and it has been a good experience so far. We order the one eyed cody, and regular cheese - its perfect! It's a nice change for us when we're feeling up for some cracker crust pizza. The reason they don't get a full 5 stars is that depending on the day, the pizza can be a bit "blah" (little to no flavor), but again, it depends on the day. We ordered a large cheese pizza with half meatball, but we were surprised to arrive and find it was only a small personal size! Don't judge this place by the outside. Great selection of thin crust pizza that did not disappoint. You had the choice of half a pie or full which enabled you to try more than one pizza. The names of the pizzas were cute and creative and all soo good! It was BYOB which was a nice perk. Also popcorn was given when we sat down - great for hungry kids as well as adults. Was surprised to find a legit brick oven pizza place here in Groton. It takes up half the restaurant! Nice selection of thin crust pizzas. Mine came out crispy, smoky, and with that slightly blackened edging only brick ovens provide. And the pizza itself came with high quality toppings. Just had dinner here with my friend and I have to say what a nice experience we had. I got a pizza and she got a sandwich. I loved the crust of my pizza and the flavor was delicious. We also decided to try the ice cream pizza for desert it ended up tasting a little funny but the waitress was super nice and didn't charge is for it. She even offered to let us have a fresh piece just to show that it normally is super good but we were to full to have anything else lol over all a great restaurant and a great staff/owner. I've gotten pizza from here twice: once when I first moved, and then another time a couple of weeks ago. I don't remember what I got the first time, but I remembered that it was good. The last time I went we got the One Eyed Cody and and order of wings for pickup. The pizza was good - really good - I just wish that it had a little more toppings. There were some slices that had three pieces of sausage, and some that had one for the whole slice. Same with the peppers and onions on it - they weren't distributed very easily. Nevertheless, it was very good pizza and we ate it. Also, the crust was a little too burnt for my liking in some places (I know it's wood-fired pizza and that happens). It wasn't charred to the point where we couldn't eat it or anything (my boyfriend still did), just a little bit too burnt for me, which is fine. The wings were really good. Lots of meat. We got them buffalo style, and I liked them. I don't order pizza that much (especially for pickup), but when I do it'll be at The Rolling Tomato for as long as I'm here. read more

We were visiting and saw the reviews for this place, so decided to check it out. We were NOT disappointed. This place lives up to the hype! We ordered the Zoey Bear, Tucker's path, Princess Priscilla, and Odie Baron. All were amazing! We also had their Gorgonzola salad (yum!!!). Zoey and Tucker were my favorite.
