This was our second time visiting Trafford's restaurant. Sitting on their covered deck was a great way to kick off summer! It was a bit chilly out, but you couldn't tell from sitting on the covered deck overlooking the water. To start I ordered the clam chowder which was delicious. I ordered the lobster roll with warm butter for my meal and my husband ordered the clam boil. We both really enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was phenomenal and very attentive. It was Sunday night and my friend and I decided to wind down the weekend with a casual dinner by the water. He made reservations for 6 pm, which apparently is a popular time since there was no parking in the shared lot. However, there were a few vacant spots along Water St. but also plenty on the side streets. The host brought us to the most perfect seats: on their patio, in the corner, with front row seats to the sun set above the water. Although the seating does seem crowded, since we were in the corner we were able to ignore it. We were sold on two of their specials, one of them being the watermelon tequila drink for my friend and their ricotta hot honey calamari. I ordered a mango mule mocktail for myself. Our server was transparent with us and let us know the drinks would take a bit since the bar was backed up with orders, so it took about 40 minutes to get our drinks. While we waited, the calamari came out. It looked and tasted very crispy, almost like a corn starch or corn flour batter. The calamari was not chewy, but the rings were smaller than what I am used to, with very little octopus. I liked the burrata but I wish it was either on the side in a small dish or in dollops over the calamari since the way it was spread onto the bottom of the plate to one side made it harder to scoop up. I loved when I could taste the hot honey but sadly it was only in little pockets of the dish. I would've wanted more of it to cover most of the pieces. But I really do think burrata - creamy and light, hot honey-sweet, lemon -acidic, and calamari- savory and crispy worked really well. For entrees, my friend ordered the swordfish ($38) and I went with the 14 oz ribeye ($48), albeit I was heavily considering the burger. Our drinks finally made their grand arrival and they were worth the wait. Both were very fruity and refreshing, with the mango mule being sweeter. The food came out after about 20 minutes. It looked fantastic; fresh and still warm. The meat was tougher than I was expecting, but it was cooked how I wanted it. There were a couple cartilage like pieces around the perimeter, but sadly very little tender and fatty marbling. I think it could've used more salt or seasoning. The fries were supposed to be truffle fries, but I think they only added parmesan and dried parsley. The ranch I order on the side helped the fries. The asparagus trunks were thin, but well cooked and flavorful. I tried a piece of my friend's swordfish and it was east to chew but lacking flavor. We did not have space for dessert, but we stayed a while to catch golden hour and more of the sunset. Overall, the food was okay but I thought the prices were high. Our waitress was excellent as she provided updates on our food/drinks, came around often enough and brought us everything we needed, all while maintaining a smile on her face. The views won me over, as well as the snippets of the live music across the parking lot when conversations got quiet or parties started clearing out at Trafford's. read more

Stopped in for a quick dinner on the deck's outside bar. A beautiful sunny summer evening with great views of the marina and water. The food was ok, as I ordered NE clam chowder, crab cakes and two quahogs. Food was average but you pay for the location. The bartender ( Emily) was very slow making her drinks and did not prioritize those eating and drinking at the bar. She never spoke to me or ask me about my meal until I asked for the check. Probably because I was drinking water and lemon. Never got an offer for more water even after my glass was empty for more than half the time spent there. I may try it again but only because of its location, not the service or food. Beware. read more

We'll have been here before, good still very tasty? And's very nice menu, it's just everything just getting to be too expensive, I mean, I've been cooking for Yrs. And it is much cheaper to Dine at Home, but sometimes I just want someone to cook for me! But prices are getting out of control, and Restaurants aren't going to lower their Profit Margins, so it is what it is! Burgers at $20 plus is a bit much, it's still just a burger, I don't care how you dress it, what's next $30 burger! I'm not even going comment on my meal because as good as it was, I paid too much! Trafford has always been a favorite of mine. The food is always excellent. The staff we encountered were friendly and personable. The view on the water is fabulous. 5 stars as always. Tonight was a busy night and our server Emily was FANTASTIC in every way. I'm not sure if the blonde woman checking in on us was the manager or the owner but she was so lovely as well. The kitchen did a wonderful job and each dish was great. I had the roast beef & it was perfect. My friends had different seafood plates and enjoyed them. The topper was the chocolate peanut butter cake. The bartender seemed overwhelmed keeping up with a busy restaurant. Other than that, highly recommend this top notch restaurant to everyone. read more

Get comfortable folks, this was one wild ride. My partner and I showed up to the restaurant at 6:22pm for a 6:45pm reservation for a friends birthday dinner. To make a long story short we were not sat until 7:40pm for our reservation, at a table that was two chairs short nonetheless! Thankfully the upstairs bartender was a true professional and took care of us while we waited. After about 15 minutes of the wait staff staring at each other, they realized that they should probably move us to an appropriate sized table. It was a half hour before my canned beer finally hit the table and then we were faced with our greatest challenge yet: getting our waitress to take our order. At approximately 8:57pm, our entrees hit the table. The only part of this restaurant that worked was the kitchen staff. My meal was fantastic and everyone around me also enjoyed their food. This experience somehow became worse when the wait staff could not overcome the obstacle of putting a candle into a scoop of ice cream for the birthday girl. It was like trying to explain the concept of a car to a pilgrim. Overall, I would sooner send someone to a Chuck E Cheese for a family gathering before I recommend Trafford's. I am still not convinced that tonight was not staged, it was that unbelievably painful. read more

My friend and I lunch here earlier today. First visit for us both. Exceptional experience: 11:45 am arrival allowed us to beat the Noon+ crowd. We sat outside adjacent to the dock. Enthralling views of the waterway and boats of all types and dimensions. We started with drinks: flavorful, eye catching, and inventive. Then to Gazpacho soup, salad, mussels, lobster, and crab cakes. Each item was remarkable for texture, flavor, and appearance. Dessert was a multi-tiered strawberry shortcake that did not disappoint! Great coffees too. Service was also memorable. Our waitress made our dining experience memorable, too. (In her spare cycles she was making drinks at the outdoor bar.) One Small Caution: Parking gets tight (shared with at least one other establishment) and the crushed seashell lot has major divots (to slow us down, I presume.) We found a spot and there's free on-street parking a short distance. read more

Nice restaurant in Warren by the water. Lots of parking in its private lot. We liked the food we got (I got the Swordfish and my husband got the Brioche Chicken), but for the price we paid, we felt the portions were not very generous. We were both hungry after finishing our meals to the point that when we got home we had to eat stuff from our pantry.... To me, if we are spending over $100 for 2 dishes and drinks, the least you could hope for is to be satisfied and full. That was not the case. Maybe if the restaurant makes the serving sizes a bit bigger, they would have more repeat business from satisfied customers. read more

I came here today as a second last hoorah before a major surgery tomorrow. Last night at another restaurant unfortunately went terribly so I wanted to make up for it. My visit to Trafford today with a friend really hit the spot! The hostess found our reservation and asked our preference on seating. It was a breath of fresh air and we were able to get seats right on the deck overlooking the beautiful water and scenery. We ordered some appetizers. We started with the scallops with bacon that were delicious! The corn puree and maple glaze really made the dish pop! It was an absolute MUST try! You can tell the scallops were fresh! The crab cakes were great and the corn topping on them made them even better! Normally I request extra sauce but these didn't need anything added to make them delicious! The Ahi tuna appetizer was incredibly. The temp and flavor was PERFECT! Our calamari was good but I only ordered it because the menu states that it includes rings and tentacles which is very rare to come by in Rhode Island. The sauce was good but there were absolutely no tentacles which was rather disappointing. This was my least favorite because I was really looking forward to the tentacles (my favorite part). We split a Wagyu Australian strip that was good. The edges were super fatty but it was overall good. It was cooked to temp throughout. I wouldn't say it was the best wagyu I've ever had but it was very well seasoned and great compared to a lot of other local spots that sell Wagyu. It was certainly worthy of the price though! The dish overall was great once cutting the fat off. I would probably order it again cause for a steak it had great flavor and the cooks definitely know how to season things like a champ (which is shockingly rare these days). Our server was great. My friend's drinks were perfect. I had ordered a Chandon split with a side of oj which was served with ice? But after picking the ice out I was able to make my mimosa like I prefer since ordering a mimosa never guarantees the champagne/OJ ratio for for one's preference. Overall, that's nothing to care about when she was so attentive in many ways that so many other establishment lack. You can truly tell she cares! She was above and beyond friendly and helpful and that's what matters. Both of the hostesses were wonderful and very friendly. I would 100% come back here in a heartbeat. This is my second time at this establishment. I probably won't order the calamari again but otherwise everything was delicious! I took one star off just for false advertisement when it came to the calamari. I believe that the restaurant should update their menu if the appetizer doesn't include the ingredients stated in the future. The remainder of our experience was great though. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to friends and family going forward. read more

Amazing! Gorgeous interior right on the water. Soothing coastal theme. So many great options on the dinner menu. Each in our party of four loved their choice: Nantucket scallops, stuffed chicken breast (spinach and applewood bacon), Caesar salad with prosciutto. My husband and I tried this place for the first time for date night and it was so worth it. The restaurant is right on the water with an amazing view. Our server Megan was in training and she was very pleasant and attentive. I had the Short rib bolognese and my husband had the pecan salmon which I will get next time we go. What a gem of a spot, greeted by the host and taken upstairs to enjoy lunch with a lovely view. Morgan was our server and she was excellent. Overall our dinner was delicious! Drinks were great, we got the pear martini and grapefruit martini. Bread and butter was delicious but you pay extra for additional rolls, which is ridiculous. Our food was delicious! We got the burger and bolognese. Restaurant is super cute. We sat outside with cover and heaters which was lovely. I have been here a few times. The first time was in the winter shortly after they re-opened and we had a great experience in the main dining room, watching the sunset from the indoor seating area. There was hardly anyone else in the restaurant but the food and service were great. I would have given four stars based on that experience. More recently, however, I went with a friend and sat on their outdoor patio near the water. The tables were crammed too close together and it was not a very relaxing experience since both other diners and servers kept hitting my chair while passing through the area. We were also seated close to a service station and really could not even see much of the water- there were rows of tables closer. We ended up going over to the new Chomp location across the street after we ate and had a much more enjoyable experience at the bar there. Even though Chomp was packed at the bar, the seating was much better and no one knocked my chair the whole time we were there. I won't knock the food at Trafford, which is decent, although a bit over priced for a knock your chair type of ambience. Service was nice as well. However, I am not coming back here for outdoor seating in the summer. It is just way too cramped for the price point. I was also turned off by the whole required valet parking thing; I don't like handing over my car so had to drive down the street and street park quite far away to avoid it. read more

It pains me to write this review. Trafford a has been a "go-to" for years (before and after the fire). I visited last week and ordered a seafood stew with shell fish, fin fish, shrimp and chourico. The broth was tasty, the shrimp and fin fish were good. The dish included three little necks, two of which were empty and the third one unopened. There were five mussels, three unopened. I mentioned this to my server so that she could tell the kitchen. I wasn't asking for a discount but they did take my meal off the bill. So, I wasn't going to write a review; anyone can have a bad night. But today, a friend told me of the exact same experience last night. Unopened shellfish. They also had pasta that was glued into a clump while another guest asked for a steak knife to cut her chicken! We are all so disappointed to remove Trafford from our list of restaurants. read more

Scallops wrapped in bacon were absolutely phenomenal as were the drinks, fish and lobster roll. I usually don't do a cold lobster roll but since we were splitting and the starter was so great, I figured why not? Everything including the service was excellent. Beautiful setting. There were 8 of us for lunch- it was busy. It took a long time to be served and most of the food was room temperature. My chicken was over cooked but the basic recipe was tasTy. I had a side of mashed potatoes that were delicio but room temperature. The eggplant sandwich was pathetic when it came to size of the pieces of eggplant- maybe one piece the size of a little larger than a silver dollar on a large piece of bread. They charged 75 cents when asked for more cocktail sauce! The amount served with the shrimp was maybe a teaspoon. Service was not the greatest bc there weren't enough waitstaff. But our server was pleasant and tried hard. I'd probably go again bc it's convenient to where I live.. but I'd be sure to tell them my concerns. read more

Our family had a planned bereavement meal planned and we showed up two hours early for a meal for forty. The lead at Trafford was spectacular- never seemed ruffled- just read the situation perfectly- was calming and got it all done- and she never stopped hustling but never made us feel stressed. We went for dinner last nite and were seated upstairs. The service was ok-but did have to ask for pepper and bread. My husband was pleased with the fish and chips but my steak tips were tough and overcooked- not very flavorful. And the asparagus was soggy. The waitress did ask so told her the meat was tough. She took it off the bill! The views of the river were amazing and bar and kitchen efficient. The decor was brand new. Light fixtures beautiful but needed windex. Ambiance was noisy- probably due to large table. Coq au Vin on menu but one man kept asking for other ways to serve the chicken- wanted breast done Marsala style ? The waitress was very patient !! Tonight my husband and I went to the neighboring restaurant, Chomp. There was a gentleman in the deck of the Trafford who appeared to be shouting at me while I was parking. He was waving his arms in the air and yelling to not park in a specific area. Well, all I have to say is by the time my husband and I left Chomp (a little after 6 PM) the Trafford had maybe 5 cars in front of it while Chomps side was full and almost every table was taken. All I have to say is, if you're going to be that picky about where patrons of other places park, maybe don't embarrass yourself by telling them to move only to show that you don't really have many customers to begin with. The staff at Chomp apologized on that gentleman's behalf, I told them not to worry because it only made it clear that I'll never have any interest in going to Trafford's if that's how he treats people. Not a mystery as to why you had no one on "your" side of the communal lot. As a side note, maybe worry about fixing your potholes before worrying about telling people where to park. read more

Had a bad experience at Trafford restaurant. It all started when we parked in the lot for the restaurant and we were verbally attack by an employee telling us that we were going to get towed. We explained that we wanted to eat there, then he allowed us to enter. The food was ok, but certainly not very fresh and very pricey. I would not recommend. Many better options available​ read more
