I had just moved into a house and didn't want to take my old mattresses with me so my fiancé and I were sleeping on the couch until finally I couldn't take it any more. I called around looking for the best deal and needed a mattress that same night called this location Derwin informed me that they have some on clearance I got a name brand amazing firm mattress and box spring for about 600$ and took it home that same night. Also showed my mom some furniture since she was going to be moving into her new house soon. He was helpful,friendly, and knowledgeable. Second time around my mom went in looking to buy her furniture Derwin was off this day. But, Lillian was absolutely amazing so sweet and nice, helpful, also knowledgeable of her job gave us the best deal as well as a house warming gift for my moms new place. I am blown away by the in store experience that I received here last week. I was lucky enough the get the manager Ramon when I first stopped in to look. Our salesman was Aaron and he was really amazing as well. I came back they next day with my son, after visiting other furniture locations in this area. I was unimpressed with other furniture retailers in the area....either too high priced or quality wasnt there.. Got a GREAT Outstanding deal on some great floor sample models! Went back yesterday and purchased a temperpedic matress. Just got the furniture delivered today...they were amazingly fast, on time and very competent! I was sold a bed and bedframes a month ago in September and since then I have been unable to receive any communication with the store via email, text, or phone. It has been a whole month of me trying to pick up parts that were missing from my purchase that they refuse to replace. I went into the store and was told that they had the parts then that they didn't and finally that they would look for them and contact me with replacement parts. Valentine was the one who helped me with my purchase and he was nice and helpful until after I made my purchase. After I had explained I couldn't go pick up my purchase that day he started calling me and telling me that he wouldn't have made the sale if I couldn't pick up the items that day. I finally ended up getting help to pick everything up and then it was a whole mission for the people in the store to get my purchase ready since almost everyone had gone home. After, I was harrassed into picking my stuff up and it wasn't ready. Fast forward a month and I still haven't been able to receive my missing parts. I don't believe I was sold the items "as is" and I wouldn't know since I haven't received communication in a month. The whole experience has been frustration incarnate. It should not be this difficult to get a reply on the replacement parts I was promised in-store. I would not recommend this place. I return to places and recommend them based on customer service. My husband and I purchased what we thought was a great bed for our two girls. Turns out, it broke really easy. We purchased the bed 10/08/16. We attempted to make a claim when it broke in 11/2017. We purchased the P1PRP protection plan when we bought the bed. My 5 year old bounced on the bed and the entire frame fell from underneath the bed. My husband was told that it was a manufacturer problem and we were basically out of luck because the manufacturer warranty had run out. As you can see from the attached photo of the protection plan, it should cover structural or component failure resulting in breakage of frames. LIES! Recently the frame of the pull out bed came apart and we are afraid to call to make a claim because we don't think they'll honor the warranty. We used to really love The Room Place. We have made several purchases from the store. However, we are very displeased and plan to never make another purchase with the store because they DON'T honor their warranties. We pay to protect our furniture because things happen and we spend good hard earned money on it. It's really disheartening when you think you have a piece of mind only to be bamboozled when it's time to actually honor their agreement. They should stop selling a protection plan they are never going to honor. If my claim for the bed isn't honored this time, I will be reporting them to the BBB! read more

Don't waste your money Now the Problem is with the couch is the when you recline it falls to one side and after owning a couch for 2 years the material is doing chipping. Garbage products they sell, you would think you spend so much money you would get a good product. Warranty said normal wear and tear. What the hell do they cover!!!! My purchase seemed promising and fulfilling. We bought the warranties after being told we can get replacements within a certain time frame if any damage. Within the year, the couches we purchased began to tear and peel. There are no kids in our household and the couches were well taken care of. Went back to the sales lady and she told me there's nothing we can do, and the warranty does not cover the couches. Why would you sell me a warranty if it does not cover the couches I purchased... no one peeled them nor played with them. It is terrible fabric that peeled and damaged after normal use. Now I am stuck with these expensive couches, and they are quite embarrassing when people come over. Our older couches lasted for 15+ years. These didn't last the year. read more

I went in and purchased a sectional, large mirror, and 4 chairs back in November. I was given a delivery date of Dec. 30, after which they delayed THREE times. My significant other had to take off work each time to be here for said delivery dates that never happened. When I went to speak with the sales associate who sold us this furniture, "Selma", apparently she didn't feel like doing her job so she pointed me to customer service, and told me to cancel my whole order. When I came back to speak with a manager, she told me I wouldn't be receiving my sectional AT ALL... I basically wasted 4 months waiting for a sectional that they no longer even have on the website because all they want is your sale. I get that covid has slowed things down but this is NOT the way you run a store or allow your employees to act towards customers... lashing out and being rude because you don't want to deal with a customer (I didn't even raise my voice once despite the run-around with my furniture), tells me that Selma is in the wrong line of work. Will never buy from Room Place again, this was the most ridiculous experience and a complete waste of time. read more

Let me start this off by saying that I have bought furniture from Harlem furniture or as it is now known the room place on two previous occasions. All of my furniture has been of good quality and my current living room set has lasted 7 years. It would have lasted longer but I got the furniture when my son was a year and a half old and he was & still is pretty active. My experience in buying that set was not so good in that my sales representative was not so friendly, not very helpful and pretty dismissive of me. The sales manager noticed and saved the day for the store because I ended up buying a living room set & a very nice dining room that seats 8 (I still own & use the dining room set). I told the sales manager not to give the commission to the sales associate but I'm pretty sure he did. This purchase was at the Elston location. Fast forward to present time. Yesterday I decided that I need a new living room set so I decided to once again go to Harlem furniture/the room place because I like their product. I went to the Elston location & was greeted immediately. I already knew what I wanted so I asked for it right away. The sales associate who approached me informed me that they did not have the living room set I was asking for in the store. I kind of paused at the notion but working in retail I realize & understand that not all stores carry all products. As I am talking to the sales associate a sales manager is nearby & hears our conversation. He joins the conversation & begins to assist the sales associate. I once again explain what I'm looking for & he reiterated that they do not have the living room set at this location but that he could gladly order it for me (internally I applaud him for the effort and trying to get the sale for the store) but I inform him that I'm not going to buy a living room set without seeing it in person and actually sitting on it. He then tells me that he knows the product and that he can show me a sofa that I can sit on & that it has a similar feel to the one I am looking for. He takes me to the set & I sit on it but in my mind he can just be saying that to sell me & I need to see the real deal. He then informs me that a bigger store would have it & tells me of two stores, downers grove, which he tells me is about 45 minutes away and also the one located on 80th and Cicero. Both far for me because I live less than 10 minutes from this store, but once again I applaud the effort he is giving in trying to help me as a customer. So today as I am out running errands I decide to call the store on 80th and Harlem to see if they have the living room set that I want on display. I start driving in that direction & guess what, issue #1 happens. The phone rings for 21 minutes & nobody answers the phone. At this point I'm committed to the drive so I hang up the phone & continue to drive. In all the drive took me about 50 minutes, traffic was a little rough. I get there & walk into the store with my son & issue #2 happens. Two sales associates are standing not at the door but close enough to where they see me walk in the store. They actually do see me walk in but do not acknowledge me & begin to walk not towards me but away from me. Really? Ok fine. I decide to look for the set on my own. I do a lap around 3/4 of the store & pass at least 6 sales associates. Of those 1 actually said hi as they walked by quickly & met up with another associate. I looked over at them as I continued to walk & they were just standing there talking & not with customers. So I take another lap & I still don't see the set probably because I'm a little annoyed at this point. As I make another lap around the store I'm still passing associates who are not busy & nobody acknowledges me or offers assistance. I see the one associate who actually said hi to me in passing & I asked her if they had the set I was looking for at the store. At first she was not sure but then she remembered where the set was. Issue #3. She told me which direction to go to find it. She did not offer to walk me to the set & show it to me & she was not with a customer. In my head I'm thinking horrible customer service & my bigger issue is doesn't she want a sale. Ok so i follow her instructions & walk to where she pointed me to. I pass another sales associate & nothing. I finally find the set & my son & I sit on it. I like it but as I look around there is nobody around to help me or better put that wants to help me. So now I'm pretty upset but I already drove there & I want the living room set. Based off of loyalty & good product purchase in the past I decided to continue to shop in hopes that somebody would ask me if I wanted help. Issue #4. I stayed in the store for about another 7 minutes walking around sitting on various couches & nothing. At that point I gave up & walked to the front of the store where two associates are standing. They look at me & say nothing. With so many other options why would I shop here again. read more

USED MY BATHROOM AND LEFT IT A MESS! We had a pleasant experience at the store and had a relatively helpful sales person...but the good ends there. First, I feel that once they have the sale they are DONE with you. We had to try FOUR times to reach customer service the day after our furniture was delivered to report the problems! Second, one of our chairs was super wobboly. The delivery guys tried to blame us and our floor before leaving without offering any meaningful assistance. Third, and worst of ALL, was the delivery guy who asked to use our bathroom. He left toilet paper covered in FECES on our floor and in our bathroom trash can! Clearly I should have checked the reviews before checking this place out. Do yourself a favor and just head to the recently opened Sleepy's a few doors down. I wish I would have done so and saved myself a few hours and a headache. I moved to Chicago from California with an apartment lined up, but no furniture. I figured the RoomPlace / the MattressPlace on Cicero would be a great option to get a mattress quickly as they were advertising a sale, The place was clean and had a nice setup, but the salesmen were aggressive and oozed shady. They refused to negotiate until they realized that though I flew in that morning, I wasn't born that morning. When they provided me with their 'best' price, I told them I would check out the surrounding shops to compare. The cocky salesman informed me that I would be back. The other shops I tried on Cicero aren't worth mentioning. They simply lacked quality. Then I stumbled into Sleepy's as a last resort before heading back to the shady salesman at the RoomPlace. Paul greeted me at the door and was professional yet personable. He was a true gentleman and gave honest feedback on the pros and cons of each mattress. I was thoroughly impressed with his knowledge. As opposed to trying to wheel and deal he simply let the facts speak for themselves. I found a mattress I liked and wanted to compare it to the one down the block at the RoomPlace. Paul understood me wanting a peace of mind and off I went to sit on the other bed. The shady salesman was quite smug and hovered as I sat on the bed trying to get a feel. I noticed that their pillow top bottomed out and my decision was made. I went back to Sleepy's where I received better service & a higher quality. Paul quickly checked me out and the delivery was accurate and smooth for an amazing price! Summary: Mistake = going to the RoomPlace / the MattressPlace. Another Mistake = checking out the other small shops around. BEST DECISION EVER = going to Sleepy's and working with Paul. Make your next move your best & head to Sleepy's!!! I will think twice before buying furniture from here again. My husband and I bought our first home last year and we decided to furnish our entire house with furniture from The Room Place....big mistake! We waited 3 MONTHS for furniture, do you hear me? 3 MONTHS! We went to this store when they had their Memorial Day sale going on. We went in on a Monday and we picked out a sectional couch that came with 2 recliners and we added an additional recliner, we picked out a table and 4 chairs for our kitchen, and we picked out 2 identical bedroom sets for our sons rooms (bed frame/dresser) and a bed frame/dresser for me and my husband's room. We also ordered 3 mattresses (didn't need a 4th because we had just bought a mattress prior to us moving). The sales lady at the store assured us that not only were the pieces we ordered in stock, but that everything would be delivered by Thursday and Friday. So there would be 2 deliveries...ok, cool. However, the day before our first scheduled delivery, they call and tell us that our items are out of stock and that they're rescheduling our delivery for that Monday. Then we get another call the next day saying that our delivery date for Friday was being pushed back as well. Long story short, this went on for 3 months....we ordered furniture at the end of May, our house wasn't completely furnished until mid August! They did deliver the mattresses within a couple days...thank god for that! Otherwise we would've been sleeping on the floor. Then like a month after we placed our order, they only delivered two pieces of our couch. I could go on and on about a lot of stupid stuff that kept happening but I won't because I'd be typing forever...Lol. I just feel like the sales lady should've been upfront with us about the whole furniture buying process. Like, it really doesn't matter if what you order is in stock or not at the time you order it because they deliver to people in the order it's placed. So if there's 5 people who order the same couch and they only have 3 in stock to begin with, they're gonna deliver the couch to the first 3 people who placed an order, but still make all five people pay! When I suggested to The Room Place (on one of many phone calls made while we waited for furniture) to compensate us in some kind of way, the girl on the phone says that they already gave us free delivery so they can't offer us anything else and had the nerve to say I already got 20% off my order anyway. Um, news flash, EVERYONE WHO ORDERED FURNITURE THAT DAY GOT 20% OFF!!! There was a sale going on so I don't appreciate them making it seem like they did me a favor by giving me a discount. And on top of that, they gave us free delivery on furniture we still didn't have! So yeah, thanks for absolutely nothing. And to be honest, the quality of the furniture isn't the greatest. We spent A LOT of money on our sectional couch and here it is, a little over a year later and the remote that controls the recliner we added has some kind of shortage in it. So it needs to be plugged in a certain way, otherwise it won't work. And the kitchen chairs are wobbly now. My husband has to keep tightening the screws every so often. I remember many years ago, I ordered a coffee table from here and I chose to have it delivered to the store (for free) instead of paying $65 to have it delivered to my house. I remember calling for like a week straight, because everyday they said my table still hadn't been delivered to the store so I ended up having to drive all the way to their distribution center in Bolingbrook just to get my table! We selected a wonderfully soft Peyton sofa from the showroom in Orland Park and picked it up from the Romeoville warehouse. When we brought the item home we were extremely dissappointed! This sofa is rock hard and unbelievably uncomfortably! Definitely not the same item! We notified the Room place immediately and they refused to exchange the item stating "They didn't deliver it so they will not honor the 7 day satisfaction guarantee". We are now stuck with a terrible $600.00 piece of furniture!! I would not purchase furniture from here ever again. I will never purchase from The Roomplace again. It has been nothing but a headache since the day we purchased. We were told by our salesperson Kelly if we paid taxes and delivery up front (roughly $650) we would get 48 months no interest. We were told our balance (a little over $4k) would be divided into 48 equal payments (no more than $90). Fast forward a few weeks, we get our bill. Minimum payment is $144. This is a big difference in the payment we were expecting. We contacted the store and our salesperson and she advised us to come in and speak with the office manager, that she would be able to help us. Fast forward to our visit in the store, Kelly was not available, we speak with the store manager who tells us she is not able to help us. She was extremely condescending in trying to tell us we had 48 months deferred interest, which we understood. We were disputing the amount of the monthly payment, which we were told could be fixed by visiting the store and speaking with the office manager, which we never did because again the store manager kept telling us nothing could be done. All she kept trying to do was give us a lesson on how minimum payments work on credit cards, which we are very well aware of, but again she was extremely condescending and did nothing to help us, nor did she try. My mother in law recently purchased from a different Roomplace and raves about her furniture and experience which was why we decided to visit, however; I am extremely disappointed in the misleading information I was presented with as well as the customer service from purchase date to now. I will take my purchases somewhere else from now on. You get what you pay for isn't the case this time because I paid a pretty penny for garbage service. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. The room place has the most incompetent, unprofessional, untrained delivery drivers on earth. TRP has been around way too long to have such crappy service when it comes to delivery. This is not some "pop up" furniture store. My time was completely wasted today as I had 2 inexperienced delivery drivers with no knowledge of maneuvering furniture. The language barrier does not make it any better. Whomever it is that they are outsourcing their deliveries to....it needs to be stopped. 3 years ago when I purchased furniture from TRP I went through a similar experience where light fixtures in my hallway were damaged and not replaced. In retrospect due to the negligence of my drivers today I'm being inconvenienced to wait another 48 hours for a delivery that may not happen. Called on the 13th Order was was not in the system, keeping in mind the order was placed on May 27th. The situation was emailed to the online manager, who didn't call me back until the next day, June 14th. She informed me that she had just found my order, and that she had just put it in the system, because there was a clitch, but it wouldn't be delivered on the requested delivery day June 15th. She said the next day available was the 20th. I let her know there's no way i can take off again until July, and I had no one to sit home and wait. ( i actually wouldn't have had anyone because, i need to inspect the furniture). She said they would take out the delivery charge, but i still needed them to accommodate my schedule, of course she did not call me back that day. So June 15 has arrived, its 2:00 pm no one has called, I called them and of course they have to email the online manager, who Stephanie said has me scheduled for the 20th delivery without an agreement with me, I would only agree if they are coming after 6:30 pm. Called on Friday, it now has been three days since I last spoke withdrawal the online manager who has not touched base with me. Im on hold now, that's another thing I'm having to be on hold to try to get their business, when they should be trying to get my business. This is my last time calling if i don't get satisfaction, i will be cancelling the order and taking my business some where else. So i asked to speak to another manager than the online manager and they put me on hold for a long time, even though i told them i was on my break. These people don't have a care bone in their body, they ate so layed back. Just spoke with a Joyce and they don't want to go the extra mile to accomidate me and they have not refunded my delivery. This review is not only for this location but all locations in general as I have done business in several locations with the same result. First off, buying their warranty is a really bad idea and a waste of money. Their promise that if you don't use the warranty you get your money back is just as horrible. I'm a very thorough shopper so when the sales person offered the warranty I told him "no because it never covers anything" he assured me that it covered "everything" at which point I threw out scenarios "what if my kid writes in it?" "Yup it's covered!" "What if they jump on it and break it?" "Yup it's covered!" Well I still asked for a brochure and the warranty details were pretty good so after he said "And the best part is, if you don't use it you get your money back!" I went for it and added it to my furniture purchase which was a counter height marble veneer top dining set with 8 imitation leather chairs. Fast forward a couple months...my cousin came over and leaned back on one of the chairs and broke the back part, it was accidental damage to wood and according to warranty it was covered when I called my claim was denied because "the frame is not covered by warranty" when I told them the frame was made of WOOD they said "yes but it's a frame, therefore not covered" I combed the warranty and that was never specified. Long story short, a total of 3 different chairs (poorly made may I add)got 3 different kinds of damages and all 3 claims were denied with various colorful "reasons" After several calls to corporate nothing was resolved so I decided the best thing to do was ask for a refund of my warranty money since it was basically useless. Here's where it gets better....getting your money back on the warranty is JUST as difficult! Here are their terms according to my experience: *You MUST wait 5yrs from date of purchase to be eligible for refund.. *After you wait 5 yrs you have 30 days to ask for refund or you lose your money. *If you are diligent enough to have made it this far...you call a special number to request a refund, once you call it gets notated that you are requesting a refund and have to wait weeks to get "approved for refund" *Once you get approved your name goes on a list of refunds to be issued which gets sent out ONCE A MONTH *Refund is in GIFT CARD form! Not original form of payment! *Stipulations on GC when you finally DO receive it is: Must use within a year, on minimum purchase of $499! I am NOT kidding! I still have the letter they sent me. This is absolutely horrible customer service, every person I have dealt with there could care less about you after the sale has been made. I have brought this up to several people when we talk about furniture and they all have the same horrible experience with Guardian warranty. read more

This past Tuesday, May 22, I received a letter from The Room Place, Which said that they appreciate me as a customer and that they have an special gift for me together with the 20% Off, so I stopped by the store with the letter, to pick up my Cristal Gift and since I just bough my new house, I wanted to see the furniture too. The sales man sent me to talk to one of the ladies from the desk and ask for the gift, so I went there and the lady from the desk, just laughed and told me that the gifts were gone, that the especial was on a Saturday May 20, and she said to me: "You are late." What it was truly late was the latter which I received 3 days after the Saturday. What a bad customer service. She made me feel so angry that I will never come back. Purchased very expensive platinum dresser along with bed, in January 2016 and the leg fell off when pulled out from wall in January 2017 just days after one year warranty expired. I was very surprised. Bedroom furniture looked nice when purchased and still does but it is junk. Never any all my years has a leg fell off a piece of furniture especially new. My wife and I made some purchases here last year and waited nearly 2 months to take delivery. The salesman Munjid was a true shyster. He stalked us around the showroom for over an hour and wouldn't give any breathing room. When we finally decided on what we wanted to purchase, he guaranteed us that we'd receive our table within 2-3 weeks. Christmas passed and so did New Years. When we called to follow up, they claimed that they tried reaching us to notify about the delay in delivery but I never received those calls. I even went as far as checking my phone records just to be sure. One star for the sales manager Tim for being understanding but if I were you, I'd take my business to Value City just down the street. Same quality furniture as RP but cheaper and better customer service. read more

Went in for some much needed sofas. The floor man that helped us tried to get my husband to apply for their credit card even though we said we wanted lay-away. Next they tell us there is this great program called RAC. We can make payments and get credit at the same time. I ask them if its the rental place. They said "no". A RAC representative came over told us how great the RAC deal was. Would not answer my question when I would ask how much is the interest or any other question that would give me an idea how much the interest was. Well he convinced us. I asked him again before I signed if the sofas would be rentals. I never rented anything and was not planning too. Again he said "NO" it is not a rental. Well we were duped. I went home read the agreement it turns out that we would need to make a $297 payment a month and only $20 would go towards the sofa. It was not obviously set up that I would not see it right away. I used my college math skills to figure this one out. Thank you UIC for my education. The payment plan would go on for 26 months until they get a total $8,000 dollars for some $2,600 sofas. By the time I did my calculations I already had paid delivery and the 1st month. I was told that I could pay the sofas in total plus taxes if i wanted out of the program and they will keep my $277 dollars. Needless to say I returned the sofas. I was beyond mad they they were rentals. Keep away from this place they are not honest. p.s. the sales floor man tried to pressure us into giving them $250 for insurance. Even though I knew and he knew that the sofas are insured by the manufacturer for one year. He even told me that he would deduct the taxes if I add insurance. I still did not agree and he said that he would deduct the taxes anyways as a favor. HA, he did not. The taxes were on the paperwork. Basically I left feeling hassled. Like I walked into a happy massage place but with no happy ending. read more

My rating is Zero Stars!!!!!!! It all started the beginning of the this year. I selected my room set. You know, the new line from Cindy Crawford "San Marcos" . My first taught okay, it's quality we are buying so it "Should" be good. Oh boy was I wrong!! theroomplace.com The sales person was very nice and told us it would arrive in 2 weeks. Two weeks later...........the delivery truck arrives. yes!!!! my furniture is here.............One Piece out........okay next.... Wait where is the rest of the sofa???? Delivery guy said that the other pieces are not on stock!!!!! what!!!! I bought a whole sofa not just one piece!!!!! Called Costumer Unserviced and they said the delivery guy wont be able to take it back and the rest of the sofa is not on stock until 2 weeks from the delivery date. Okay stuck with one piece until i called customer service back for the other pieces.......Customer service said " we haven't receive the shipment and it will be a bit longer we will call you when it arrives" What!!!!! (You are not doing me a service there!) Again, I couldn't return the other piece because nothing was wrong with it (yeah, other than the pieces that go with that are not here!!)and 3 days have passed from delivery date. Waited 2 months and many calls to customer service and finally all but one piece had arrived. but when they installed it the set was a complete mess not only was it dirty and smashed like i had it for years but it didn't go with the first piece they sent over. Yeah, i didn't let the delivery guy leave this time and i called customer service and they said well it's not pass the 3 days so you can keep it for now and we will send the technician to take a look. oh boy, i should had refuse the furniture if i knew then........ So, I called a week later and they scheduled some one to come and look at the furniture the mechanism of the furniture is good and nothing is wrong with the furniture. I called customer service again and they said nothing could be done, i posted on my face book account and after many comments and people viewing the pictures it was obvious that there was a problem with the furniture. Called customer service, talked to the manager, went to the store and finally got the whole set replace!!! Alright, finally all done. ......... Wait not so fast. The set came in a month later (The whole set) two weeks later the electric recliner broke the board on the bottom was cracked. (I am not a heavy girl and we hardly ever used it in the 2 weeks.) That's when i realized that there was no quality there and the furniture was not worth the price that i paid. Called customer service and they sent out a technician. I talked to the technician about the concerns i had with the furniture and he said " This furniture is a piece a crap, that's what's wrong" Just what i taught. Called customer service and complaint about the furniture and the other recliner. The electrical was getting stuck. they said nothing is broken and they will wait until it breaks to replace this item. I also suggested that one of the pieces be exchange since i was not able to look at the set as a whole for many months i would like one piece removed or exchange to see if the item would look even. Customer service replied " it's passed the 3 days from the original delivery date and we will only fix the recliner when it truly breaks because you have warranty for up to a year" So, they are waiting for the warranty to be over then it's off their hand and was that the reason they did not deli ever the whole set? They know they have crappy furniture. Please save yourself from the stress, time wasted, hassle, scam, and just not quality furniture. I can't believe Cindy Crawford put her name on some thing so cheap, and just completely manufactured horribly. At this time i think anywhere is better than the THE ROOM PLACE. read more

So my mom went in there to buy furniture and spent a lot of money on new furniture. At the time they had a promotion free financing for one year. She paid all her payments on time. She got the last bill and it was due November 6th. The promotion ended November 4th. The staff failed to tell her that she needed to pay by the 4th even though the last bill was due the 6th. They made her sign some papers without explaining the terms to her. They took advantage of her because she doesn't read English. They ended up charging her $ 1,200 in back interest. I will send a similar message to the Better Business Bureau. And we vowed never to shop there again unless a positive outcome comes out of this situation. read more

I recently wrote a pleasant review about Room Place in Ford city. However, prior to delivery the service took a complete turn for the worst. Initial contact with our Sales person was impeccable. Lily was very attentive and accommodating to our needs. When contacted for delivery details we experienced nothing less than horrible service. The person on the other end had the wrong delivery address and she would not change it unless we came back to the location (40 minutes away from home) and presented identification. She was very rude and even offered to cancel the order to avoid this issue. I've never encounter such service to direct us to their competitors? Upon delivery, in which I schedule off work, the delivers forgot screws to the bed I purchased. As if the nightmare couldn't get any worse, I had to "take off" another day of work to correct their error. When I called back to schedule yet another delivery date, I was offered a $25 credit for my inconvenience. I couldn't help but to laugh at the "courtesy credit" I was offered. Needless to say after my babies sleeping on the floor and my loss of wages for 2 days, I finally have the bed I ordered. This is a joke of a business and hopefully I can prevent another customer from experiencing such unpleasant, unorganized, unapologetic service. read more

A few years ago I purchased a table from The Room Place on 8027 S. Cicero Ave, in Chicago. My delivery was scheduled, and one day before the product was to arrive, I received a call that I had been sold an item that was out of stock. Fair enough - I canceled the order and purchased another table from Darvin furniture. My experience there was perfect... no headaches to deal with. Five years later, I am in search of new couches and visit every home furniture store (except The Room Place) within a 20 mile radius from my home and I am unable to find anything that I like. Hence, I put my pride to the side and visit The Room Place. Sure enough, I end up finding exactly what I want. I place the order, schedule some time off from work to receive my couches, and the day they arrive - the delivery men are unable to get the couches into my home because they were too big. I am going to Darvin to pick out something smaller. Between the awful customer service from the front desk staff, the long wait times on the phone to speak to someone, and the unprofessional delivery staff - this is not the place for me. read more

Do not buy marble, granite, etc. I bought a marble kitchen table, looked at several of them on the display floor and they all look great. First delivery had a chunk missing (okay, things happen), second had a silver dollar sized orange blotch (is horribly noticeable and looks terrible) and the third was banged up with orange scratches throughout the table. I was told several times "imperfections are the beauty of stone" but when I asked why NONE of the floor models had imperfections they were lost for words. Spoke with several managers and customer service and they refused to help us further after the third failed delivery and said we couldn't get a refund - we had to choose a different product from their store (meaning "pick something else but your money is ours and oh by the way you have to cover the difference and pay for delivery again"). We had to threaten calling the better business bureau to get a refund. Their furniture looks great and they often have great holiday sales but I'm warning you, you will be unhappy with the product that shows up and they will not make it right. You're in for a two week headache of missed delivery windows and poor product delivery. read more
