I love this eccentric little restaurant, quietest in the back room. I truly enjoyed the seafood scampi with zucchini noodles substituted for linguine. The zoodles were thick and hearty, and I didn't miss the pasta texture even a little bit. I ordered seconds on the focaccia bread, warm and soft as it was, to shamelessly dip in the wine sauce at the bottom of the dish. The bread pudding was a bit on the dry side, rather dense, and a tad too cinnamon-y, but plentiful to share. Service was excellent. Came here with a friend for a late lunch. I can't think of any gripes at all.... ok, maybe one two. The food was delicious, the server was attentive, the drinks were good, bathroom was clean. If anything, maybe a second women's toilet? But really this isn't something that's a deal breaker. We went kind of between lunch and dinner, and I found the bathroom right before two other chicks went looking for it. Since I found it first, they had to wait... but I can imagine if it was busier there would be a pretty good line, especially since they serve alcohol. Anyway, we both ordered the pecan crusted chicken and we shared some spinach dip. It was delicious. The pecan chicken was different from what I was expecting? I guess I pictured fried chicken with some pecan crust... and yes, it did have that, but the batter was lighter than I thought which was refreshing, and there was a mustard seed sauce? It was different, but I thought it was quite delicious. We sat outside because the weather was nice, and the server came around a lot.. well, not too much. Just right. She was the perfect amount of attentive, she knew how to advise on the meals and sides... I always hate when you ask and for whatever reason the server wouldn't have tried the dishes? I called a day in advance to make a reservation for a party of 8, (my family is visiting from out of town) and they told me I had to come in person the DAY OF to make a reservation. Fine. I came in and hour and a half before I wanted to be seated. The couple in front of me were able to make a reservation, but when I went up to the counter they said that I needed to make a reservation yesterday. WTF. I absolutely LOVE this place. The atmosphere is very intimate and is great for a date night. They have a great selection of craft beer and a nice wine selection. The sangria is good too. The bourbon chicken is one of my favorites. I had grilled tuna salad one evening which was also lovely. There is also a pasta dish that I love but I can't remember the name. First time here and it was Easter Sunday. Got seated within 15 min. They were nice enough to put us on the list as we drove over from Kyle which saved us 20 min of waiting. Quaint downtown neighborhood and they had indoor and outdoor seating on the sidewalk. We were starving at it was 2:30pm. Mark was our server and was full of smiles. We had the Belgian waffle, eggs over medium and sausage. It was delicious and I highly recommend it with their coffee. My 8 yr old daughter enjoyed the baker bagel. My partner enjoyed the blueberry mimosas and the brewhouse burger with house chips. The only reason I give them 4 stars is that it took 30 min to get our food. Great restaurant! read more

Been here plenty of times, and not once have I had a bad experience. Service is always awesome, very courteous, and a perfect example of professional, yet easy going and friendly. There are no bad choices on the menu. Every single item at breakfast, lunch, and dinner is made with a lot of care, no shortcuts, and comes out delicious. Had a waitress recommend the beet burger to me recently, and although I was skeptical, I was very surprised at how delicious it was. I'm not a vegetarian by any means, but if I was, I would be right at home. Everything looks just as delicious as it tastes. I've had multiple friends come in from out of state, and I required them to try this place before heading home, and every single time, they've told me they want to come back. I've seen this restaurant in passing many times but , have never been until recently. Their burger is really good and the bacon sooo sooo good. But, the real treat to this restaurant was our waitress, her name was Solay I think. She was so cheerful and even though we waited a pretty long time for our food she made sure to check in and let us know they were running a little behind and if we needed anything. The food was mostly good potatoes were very burnt. Service was ok not excellent but not bad either. The hostess was wearing a short Lycra short and you could obviously tell she had no underwear I didn't find it very professional you couldn't tell she worked there. The gratuity was 20% which is a little higher than usual and they went to our table 4 times. It was 5 adults and 3 kids I don't mind paying gratuity. Specially if they take good care of us. They gave us to go silverware because they ran out of the normal silverware which I find hard to believe when we went about an hour after they opened and it was not busy. There was normal silverware in the other tables which we just grabbed from there. We ended up paying $24 for gratuity which was pretty much 3 breakfast meals in our ticket I think if the gratuity wasn't so high I would go again because sometimes they don't work for their tip but you still have to pay a high gratuity. read more

Let me tell you, I give this restaurant four stars and not five for only one teeny tiny reason,but let's talk about the good stuff first. First of all, we travel about 50 miles to get here, And I was a little hesitant but my hubby convinced us and off we went. I was so pleased that we woke up early to come here. We were welcome right away and everyone was super nice. The food was very very good and the best part is that the restaurant supports local businesses like the local ice cream shop around the corner, they also donate a portion of their dessert's profits to a local food pantry. They had many choices that all sounded amazing but decided to try their Mandarin Salad with raspberry vinaigrette and my girlfriend ordered the Rae Sandwich with grilled pickles. This place is a San Marcos gem. The restaurant is situation in the downtown "square," so you're within easy walking distance to other restaurants, shops, tap rooms, and the Texas State campus.
