Love this hotel. Stayed for a night for my wife's birthday and she was very impressed by the room, friendly employees. Their exercise room was small but I was the only one there so it was a treat to be able to workout without a mask. Breakfast was great you can tell that everything was fresh and clean. We were really excited to stay here for our wedding night. Everyone told us it was the place to stay and it looked amazing, our expectations were high for the room and service. A few days before I called to ask for early check in for my husband so he can get ready in the room. I was notified that to check in at noon rather than the 2pm regular time would be an additional $99. Wow I had not idea this place rented by the hour but I guess we know the going rate. We sucked it up and paid because at that point what could we do. But considering we were staying for the wedding night I expected some special treatment. After the wedding we arrived at the room, it was nice but thinking we paid almost $400 for the night, not that nice. They could have sent up champagne or something to welcome us to the room but fine I can let that go. Then around 11pm we called the front desk because there was no hair conditioner in the room, even though there were makeup remover pads and all the other toiletries. What we heard took a double take, the guy said he was the only one in working and could not bring it up so my husband had to put on a robe and go get it. At a five star hotel, you got to be kidding me. In the morning they tried to tell us that even though I requested late check out that we needed to leave at the regular time, at which point I just told them we would check out when we were ready. I was also surprised that this place did not have room service or a better breakfast, the food was quite average but again not impressive. I understand that getting married in Livermore there aren't many options for a nice place to stay, in fact this is the only one, but if you are visiting save your money, it's absolutely not worth it. read more

I've stayed at the Rose on multiple occasions and have been in the habit of booking rooms there for relatives and friends. It has been an overall great experience. However, I've never come across such an inhospitable hotel when it comes to the way guests are treated in the lobby. On the two occasions over the last year when I've dropped into the Rose to meet up with a business associate or prospect, I've been told by the person manning the front desk that only guests are allowed to use the lobby -- this after I've ordered drinks or told the person that my family and I are regular customers. But no, you have a program in your head, so better follow through with it and create a spectacle while I'm meeting with a business associate. And in halting English, just to make it all the more jarring. What is the matter with you? You don't treat your customers like riffraff and embarrass them. Not only do you ruin your chances of turning a wealthy prospect into a customer; you poison the relationship with your existing clients. Not only is the hotel Beautiful and nestled in a neighborhood of fun shops downtown, but they also understand that the little things are the big things! Some of the features that made the biggest impact for me were: *A very comfy bed. *Wonderful breakfast. *Extraordinarily helpful, prompt, and kind staff (and they all talked highly of their joy of working there, the owners, the area, the history of the hotel -- you don't always hear that). *Little things like turndown service with chocolates and slippers laid out and handwritten weather forecast slipped under the door each morning. *Spacious and tastefully decorated and furnished room with numerous luxuries. *The most powerful shower I have ever encountered in a hotel (this is so appreciated). Wish I could give this place more stars because there were a lot of amenities that might deserve it. Generally found the service staff to be rude, and they refused to wear masks even when asked. We are in a pandemic people and we were inside an old poorly ventilated hotel! The hotel AC was not working in the first room they put me in and I had to be moved. They delayed finding me a new room for too long while I sweated in a hot room. That was not acceptable. The deluxe king rooms are nice if not a little dated. Beds very comfortable. The water pressure was very good in the showers, a real perk. Buffet breakfast was nice and being on Main Street, which is shut to vehicles during the pandemic, there was still a farmers market on Saturday morning. read more

The Rose Hotel is an absolutely beautiful little hotel in the town that time forgot. Pleasanton is just as pleasant as the name suggests and The Rose is a jewel in this quaint town. The Madden family and management has maintained the original historic charm of the hotel while integrating modern conveniences. You will adore the old-fashioned look and feel with digital door locks and high-speed internet to name just a few. The Rose is anachronistic, like a black rotary-dial telephone with LTE capability. The staff at The Rose is fantastic, the rates are reasonable, the rooms are immaculate, the beds are comfortable, and the location is beautiful. Please understand, The Rose is NOT a large modern "cookie cutter" hotel, probably not great for your business meeting. I would choose The Rose for a romantic getaway over any other accommodation in the area. We will return to The Rose Hotel in the future. read more

stayed here 1st on our wedding night (gift from friends) & they got us the Romance Package with champagne, a bouquet of red roses and rose petals all over the room - nice! 2nd time I won a nite & we did our anniversary & couples massage at Heavenly Day spa, just across the street. We happened to wake up to the antiques street fair, bonus! beautiful hotel, rooms are gorgeous, recessed lighting, marble jet tub with candles & marble floors in bathroom, free fancy bottled water, Aveda bath items, very classy. Decent cont. breakfast, trays in the room if you want to bring your food upstairs, but comfy lounge in lobby. Good selection of pastries, bagels & lox, teas & cute mini jams., Peets coffee, oh yeah! Lovely lobby with winding-wood staircase, jars of cookies, fireplace, murals. Go there even to just use the bathroom & check out the lobby, maybe pretend you are checking it out for a later date. I do wish they had a lovely garden with hot tub...but premium real estate area I suppose. Lots of restaurants & shops to walk to, fairly quiet. read more

We recently started at the Rose Hotel for a staycation too celebrate out sixth wedding anniversary and the service was very welcoming from the get go. The hotel was beautiful and the room was much larger than expected. There was a lot of charm and I appreciated the details throughout the hotel. We noticed that the roses were changed throughout the day whenever it seemed to droop even a little. The turn down service came with a temple rub and chocolates. Even the jets matched the charm. In place of key cards, they fashioned the keys into actually looking like keys (see pictures attached). I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed my stay. I've been lucky enough to stay here on a few work trips. First, it is the cutest, most romantic place ever... even if you're single, the place just makes you smile. It is very cozy, warm, and the staff is friendly. They have freshly-baked cookies in a "cookie jar" in the lobby, along with an elegant, welcoming bar and beautiful staircase. After you get off the elevator, every floor has a fruit/goodie bowl. Which is quickly refilled the next time you pass by. It is incredibly quiet and serene. The rooms are exquisite. So much attention-to-detail here!! Everyone has a 'rose' in their room, and the "do not disturb" sign on the handle is a little pillow that hands from an elegantly braided rope that says "Need Watering" and the other side says something to the opposite affect... TOO CUTE! The bathroom is marble-tile, has a glass shower and a separate whirlpool tub. The room itself is like an apartment! It has a king bed, night stands, sitting chairs and ottoman, tv tucked inside a cabinet... just wonderful. When you come back into your room after dinner, the lights are dimmed, and they put a boxed candy on your bed. AND, they have a soothing-sounds-CD playing in the high-tech alarm clock. I have since relocated to California, so I don't get to stay here that much anymore... but I will definitely go back for a romantic night with my husband or would tell my parents to stay when they visit. read more

From the comfortable bed, the beautiful ambiance, the full bar, great breakfast spread and the wonderful staff - honestly, it is just perfect in every way. This hotel has to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The rating is a supposed 4 stars, it must be a paid review. The hotel is small, dirty and smells. The mattress was old and worn. I literally sank to the bottom when I sat in it. The sheets looked old and worn. The hotel boasted it had complimentary breakfast... it was boiled eggs and stale bread with coffee. A literal cup of fruit for the entire room of guests. I was appalled that we paid $350+ for the night. To top off this disastrous stay, the hotel charged us for a misc. charge the next week. I called my credit card to contest the outrageous misc charges. We didn't even use their towels or sheets because we felt they were dirty. (We brought our own blanket and towels.) I will never return to this hotel again. Tldr; Hotel is small, overpriced, and filthy. They will charge extra and try to steal money from you after your stay. Ok, this is two reviews wrapped into one. My wife and I stayed here on our wedding night (6/20/2015) and again for our 2nd anniversary, and the date was 6/23/2017. Rewind to the wedding night, as the groom, I have one planning responsibility (I assisted on wedding plans, but you all know who the final decision maker is :-)), and it was to handle the wedding night. I ordered the romance package, and arrived early at the hotel to drop off a bottle of champagne, and to give specific instructions to the crew to have it on ice at 10p so it would be cold when we returned. Long story short, I had to call the front desk to find my missing bottle :-( Fast forward to our last stay and I make similar arrangements, but instead of waiting, I ask them to please put the bottle in our room, on ice, immediately as we would be back in an hour. We arrive in the room, and there is the champagne, sitting in an ice bucket, with about 15 ice cubes :-( Moral of this place is fantastic atmosphere, great vibe, outstanding standard customer service, rooms are amazing, comfort is off the charts, but don't waver from the beaten path for special requests...they haven't seemed to master that yet. And, for the cost, I get exponentially better customer service from Marriott. read more

I booked this hotel for my wedding stay for this upcoming Nov 2019, I was so excited as the Hotel is beautiful. I get emails from the sales manager Tom Walker stating that the rooms may be too small for my wedding party to get ready the day of my wedding. Tom has offered us to use the Board room to get ready with an additional cost of $300 mind you I'm already paying 395 plus per night I have two rooms. I explained that it was out of my budget he still was adamant about using the boardroom then totally blew me off and told me to go ahead and seek elsewhere to accommodate my Bridal parties Necessities for getting ready suggested the Marriott or the Hilton which are not nearly as cosmetically nice for picture taking for my big day. I feel that this is not the way you treat customers when they really want to use your hotel for their once-in-a-lifetime special day. After all the back and forth I've decided to find another place. Beautiful hotel! The room was stunning - especially the bathroom with a large bathtub and shower. Every single detail throughout the hotel was well thought out and taken care of. I was also very appreciative for the steady flow of coffee in the lobby. The staff was friendly, helpful, attentive and gave us wonderful food recommendations. You can't go wrong here. The attention to detail in the craftsmanship of this hotel is mind blowing. There is beautiful crown molding, wainscoting, and wood paneling throughout, and custom painted skies on the ceiling of certain suites. A door here on a room weighs about 400 pounds. You can tell it's solid, real... just like the Roman shades and the sheets and the beds and everything else. You will not find another establishment that pays as much attention to detail. Stunning hotel in downtown Pleasanton. Looks historic but is relatively new. Beautiful furnishings, upscale amenities, gracious hospitality, All during the co-vid 19 crisis. They normally have a delicious, over-the-top Continental breakfast. Even with limited guests they provide unlimited coffee, yogurt, breakfast bars, juice, fruit. The evening turndown service is lovely. Even though all restaurants in town are closed, there are a few who are doing takeout. Upon the manager's recommendation, we ordered from two of them in one stay and again in the next stay. Delicious. The hotel staff set up dining for us in the hotel bar/parkour, replete with China, silverware, and glassware--no eating off paper plates with plastic forks. We were staying there while doing surgery and appointments in Fremont, and even though the appointment for surgery necessitated rising at dawn, the staff had breakfast laid out for us. A lovely stay at a lovely boutique hotel with a lovely staff. read more

Wasn't sure what I was booking based from the online pictures, but I was blown away during my two night stay. Direct access to downtown restaurants, easy parking, great breakfast included, bath tub in room (yes there were jets), French press coffee setup in room, cozy turndown service, countless details in the room that scream luxury, free snacks available all day, warm staff, and I'm sure there is more. I travel a lot for work and I will certainly make sure I stay here for future trips to the area. This hotel stay was the surprise visit on our stay in California- this trip included 2 nights at the Fairmont in San Francisco, 2 nights in Carmel and 2 at the Sonoma Fairmont. We have loved being here- the downtown area is easy to traverse with over 20 restaurants. I loved the Western clothing shop Christesen's, too. The greeting by the check-in hostess was perfect- competent and friendly. The Executive King room price was very reasonable, especially given the huge space - 2 relaxing chairs for my wife and I plus a desk with 2 chairs. I feel really bad writing this review but I feel like it's important for brides looking for hotels to avoid this one. After trying to find a happy medium/ compromise with the Rose Hotel for my wedding party, I've felt nothing but sad, disappointed, and most importantly un-welcomed. Luckily our wedding is a year away and I'm thankful that I planned this far in advance because we will be taking our 30 room reservation elsewhere. If you are a bride trying to book this hotel for your wedding festivities proceed with caution as there is a ton of red tape. I first called to book a King Suite for our wedding night, and after a follow up phone call, I was surprised to know that we weren't actually booked in a Suite per my request. I expressed that I wanted to have enough room for my small bridal party to get ready. The woman on the phone told me they have banned all bridal parties form getting ready in the rooms because of past damage from hairspray and makeup on the furniture. Then followed up with a comment saying large groups disturb the other guests. They did provide an option for getting ready in the conference room which was nice, but in all honesty, I'm paying 2k to stay in a beautiful suite, it's not ideal to run down the hall in my PJs. I'm also a hairstylist who has worked tons of weddings and have never heard of hairspray and makeup causing this much damage and it's unfortunate they have decided to "ban" getting ready in your own hotel room when they can just collect a deposit upfront (your credit card being on file) like all other hotels. I spoke with the General Manager to try to find some compromise and was told as long as it's only 4 people in a room they would allow it for us which is nice but still left me feeling like they would be barricading the door on my wedding morning monitoring how many people would be in and out. I was also told they would be coming in the morning of my wedding to cover all the furniture. The last straw for me was the wedding contract in my inbox from the sales manager this morning that really put a bad taste in my mouth. I was again reminded of their ban of getting ready in the room (for the 4th time) but there was also a "Wedding Contract" attached. Keep in mind this was sent weeks after me booking. Per the contract: There is a fire code which limits each room to 4 guests, however, they charge $30 for the 3rd and 4th guest? So basically if you book a double queen room that sleeps 4, your paying additional for the other 2 people on top of the nightly rate. I've never heard of this nor will I subject my guests to that kind of treatment. Then there was the clause about photography: "Photography - The Main Lobby may be used by registered guests only by appointment for an extra fee of $100 and be under the direction of the Front Desk Staff. Furniture must remain in place and the lobby accessible to other guests at all times." I'm sorry but aren't we paying to stay here? I don't want to worry about my guests taking pictures and being hassled for it. Nor do I want to make an appointment to snap a photo in the lobby on my wedding day and pay an additional $100. I've honestly never felt so nickel and dimed and also un- welcomed upon booking a hotel room. The weird contract and ban put in place for weddings made me feel like we would ultimately be walking on eggshells here during our entire stay. It's not worth stressing over trying to please a hotel WE are shelling out a ton of money to stay in. I'm pretty shocked they felt the need to send us a contract stating what we couldn't do vs asking us how they could help make this process more enjoyable and seamless. The charm and location to downtown was what drew our attention here in the first place, but to feel like we are already this much of a burden is just not worth it. If they don't want business from events, I don't understand why they are running a hotel. I called the Double Tree in Pleasanton and they laughed when I asked if I was allowed to get ready in my suite with some family and friends. Their response was "Oh my goodness, of course!" read more

**BRIDES BEWARE!!** I booked the Rose for my upcoming wedding weekend and was so looking forward to getting ready with my bridesmaids in the lovely suite, and at $400/night I should have that right. However, I was contacted by the Rose and told that we are not allowed to get ready for the wedding in said room and were REQUIRED to spend an additional $245 for use of their boardroom to get ready. I booked a 2-bedroom suite, and have a grand total of 5 people who would be getting ready in the room, well under the fire code limit. I have never heard of such a ridiculous policy, it just reeked of another way to squeeze as much money out of a bridal group as possible. It left a horrible taste in my mouth and I would never refer anyone to this hotel. Its a shame, it looked like a beautiful place to spend our wedding night. read more

The issue here are the principles. we booked 2 nights here for our wedding at casa in july. the 1st night we did the night out of town for the girls & I. the package came w/ a $50 dinner voucher at one of 3 restaurants near by. for the 2nd night we got the romance package. everything was fine until we came back to the hotel and realized that housekeeping came to "clean our room" and the $50 voucher given to us by the hotel that I left on the table was GONE!!! It was late (around 11:30pm) when we got back to the hotel, so I waited til the next morning to call down and ask about my voucher which I was saving for our brunch. The front desk lady told me she would look into it and will call me back in a few mins. so we packed our bags thinking they'll probably give us a new voucher and void out the previous one. seems logical right? By the time we finished packing, there still wasn't a call from the front desk. So before leaving the hotel I called down to front desk again, but no answer so we went down to let them know we were leaving but no one was at the front desk. so we left. we left the rose hotel, feeling bitter sweet. If they had just called or gotten back to us this would've made the experience a whole lot better. It's not even about the $50 voucher, but it's about the principles of running a business because we felt like our trust was violated. HORRIBLE SERVICE INCLUDING GENERAL MANAGER I only gave the Rose Hotel one star because that was the only option. We stayed there two nightS for our wedding. Some of our guests did as well. There's no doubt tthe hotel is very nice, as well as the food they put out every day. The staff, is HORRIBLE! I have never been treated so poorly anywhere! To start, I arrived alone to check in to get ready for my rehearsal on a Thursday night. I explained to the front desk that B of A had just sent me a new ATM card so the card I had reserved the room with would no longer work. I asked if I could run up to my room to get the card out of the bottom of my suitcase. I was told "no card, no room." So, with that I had to open my suitcase and dump everything out to get the ATM card in order to get in the room. The day of the wedding we took at few pictures at the hotel before leaving for the wedding. We took one picture near a window upstairs. When we went downstairs to get in the limo, we were greeted by the General Manager telling us "if you don't produce my bench it will be on your final bill." We had NO CLUE what she was talking about and explained there was no bench by the window when we were there. She then said, "oh wrong wedding party." REALLY!?!? Not even an apology???? THIS IS THE PERSON IN CHARGE TREATING CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS!!! Do yourself a favor and stay at a Marriott up the street!! read more

I stayed 4 nights here on business. The attention to detail in this hotel is like no other that I have ever stayed at before. I often stay at Ritz Carlton's, St Regis properties, and Four Season hotels. This hotel, while small and more boutique like, is on equal footing from my perspective. The hotel has a European approach, and attention to detail that other hotels do not have. Wow, what a gorgeous hotel! My mom booked this hotel for she and I the night before my wedding. It's so chic! The rooms are gorgeous and the bathroom is divine. My BFF and I stayed here for a girl's weekend. I was impressed at how they go the extra mile to make sure your stay is amazing. Their continental breakfast reminds me of European breakfasts. Lots of fantastic choices. We walked to dinner. There are lots of great dining choices nearby. I highly recommend staying here. I will be back for sure! read more
