Rotunda is absolutely one of my favorite places to have lunch in Bergen County. The room is so light and airy! Tons of natural light. The vibe is relaxing. I had the kale salad with shrimp. Delicious. Well massaged kale. That is a pet peeve for me and it was nicely chopped. The new chef has done a great job with updating the menu! My mom used to take us to the Rotunda when we were kids to celebrate our birthdays, and there is still something special about this little lunch spot. Came here for a lovely lunch today and had the most wonderful time. We got the crab cake salad and the Neiman burger, and both very delicious and made with good quality ingredients. I think this place is a solid 4 stars, I'm docking one star off mostly because the quality of the food is not QUITE up to par when compared with the price point. My mom and I came here on a Saturday afternoon, and we found it pleasantly quiet and a lovely atmosphere in which to get away from the hustle and bustle of GSP--I live about 15 minutes away from the mall, and I've seen pretty much all of the highs and lows of it all. We were seated by the window, which gave us a nice view, and I finally realized that The Rotunda was the place that I'd seen when I was passing by in a car--not knowing that it was a restaurant! The waitress was very friendly and attentive, and we opted to not order any drinks and just went with still water. We were delighted when we received a complimentary popover. I remember my mom making these for me when I was younger--and they're just as buttery and lovely (and WARM!) as I remembered them--even if they aren't homemade! It comes with a delicious butter that's mixed with strawberry jam. When we asked for seconds later on, the popover-passer-outer did not hesitate to give us more. We ordered a sandwich+soup deal of the day, the sandwich chosen was the Tuna Salad, and the soup was a cheese tortellini. It also came with a cute side cup of fruits, which were pretty fresh, though not really something I'd go for if it were on the menu--good thing they came with the meal. It was also super salty and I had to chug like two glasses of water to balance it out. The Tuna Salad sandwich was delicious, the bread was very yummy--there were a lot of ingredients inside the salad, and not just plain ol' tuna-and-mayo. I remember there was a bit of crunch--celery? It could've used a bit more lemon juice, but there was definitely already some lemon in it. I was impressed. The cheese tortellini was not that overcooked, but the soup/sauce part basically like a thick marinara sauce--where were my breadsticks to dip this in? My mom got the turkey club sandwich, which she really enjoyed--it was on a hearty bread that held in the sandwich's contents well. There is no place like The Rotunda. Had a lovely, oh-so-civilized lunch here recently. My friend had the turkey/mozzarella wrap special, and I had the roast lemon turkey salad. Both were quite good, but for me, the star of the show was the popover. Yes, the popover that starts every meal stole the show. And the strawberry butter. Ooooh, and the warm broth to pique your palette...... Nothwithstanding the fly on the window, it is a memorable dining experience for the room alone. You don't feel like you're in a NJ mall. It is a very special space to have a relaxing lunch with a friend on a sunny afternoon- worth the trek down Route 17 even if your plans don't involve mall shopping. If you're not relaxed when you arrive, you will be by the time you leave because the service is leisurely, at best. Prices are irrelevant, no? It's Neiman Marcus. Did I mention the popovers? It was quiet surprise there is small place that I could have quiet lunch inside of the mall. I went there 12:30pm weekday, 8-10 tables were occupied. Right after I received menu, they served popover with strawberry butter. And also small cup of chicken soup. I got crab cake salad($19), my friend got mushroom/vegetable risotto with shrimp($16+$2 shrimp). They were quiet good. Portion was just enough for lunch. Homemade pomegranate lemon aid was very tasty also. Restaurant has view towards to the outdoor parking lot. Great hidden restaurant inside the Garden State Plaza. If you need some peace and quiet after a day of shopping - this is the go to place. Overall I would give it a 3.5. Service is fairly good. Food was good but not amazing. It was also quite pricey for lunch. The ambience is really nice though and its a good escape from the busy mall. Is a nice place to sit and talk. They serve you chicken broth in a little espresso cup at the beginning of the meal. I thought that was quite interesting. And the bread they served with the special fruit butter was amazing. For the meal, I had the sautéed salmon with Farra, mushrooms which was pretty good. We also got the salad. That was good too but not so memorable. The service is nice here. The salmon tacos are good but I kept looking at the brown pineapple in the small side of fruit salad served with the entrees of two guests in my party. Aesthetically, this place is very pretty. You could see a lot of thought went into matching the colors, patterns, choices of furniture, table settings, and architecture. The interior design of the space is very open and airy with an excellent view of the outdoor parking and trees. This isn't so bad because at least it warrants for some people watching while you wait for your meal. Service is slightly above average. You get a complimentary shot of chicken broth, freshly baked popover, and strawberry butter before your actual food comes out. It was all very delicious. You even get some complimentary mint chocolate squares at the end of your meal with your check. Now, you must be wondering why I gave this place only 3 stars. Foremost, the cloth napkins we were given all smelled like sweat and feet, which was rather unpleasant to smell while you're eating. I'm not sure how they're washing and drying them, but they might want to rethink their approach. Our actual meals were also all just average as well considering the prices. Maybe we didn't order the right things, but for a place that puts so much effort into their aesthetics, I was hoping for just as much effort put into the food that we as customers pay for. Otherwise, if you're more into the aesthetics of a place, then this place could be for you. If you're looking for something tasty that matches the price point, you might want to consider a different location. Although atmosphere does play a small factor in how I rate food establishments, my reviews weigh heavily on how the food tastes, and again, everything really just tasted pretty average. It was disappointing that the only things that "wowed" me were the complimentary broth and popovers. I may give an updated review in the future after trying some other food that other customers have recommended. For now, I see The Rotunda as a good place to go if you want to sit somewhere pretty after shopping, but not so great if you want a really tasty lunch. read more

Had been taking my daughters to lunch at Neiman for some special occasions through out the years so when it came time for my older daughter's bridal shower she wanted it here. And it was wonderful. At first we were skeptical because we would be having a 6 pm cocktail,bridal shower in the middle of the winter. But it was beautiful. The room was transformed into a very comfortable lounge like setting, couches, rugs, high top tables, with beautiful flowers and candles. The most delicious food being passed around all night and the champagne was flowing. We had a wonderful bartender, Glenn, who made chocolate martini's as we opened gifts and played some games. The food was outstanding. Shout out to Jenn, a remarkable chef and to Clara, mgr who helped with every detail before and after the event, The feedback we got was that this was the best bridal shower ever. Sure it was, 40 women all dressed up, drinking and eating delicious food in a truly glamorous setting. Thank you to everyone that made this night possible. read more

I took my 93-year-old wheel-chair-bound mother out to lunch at this beautiful restaurant and had impeccable service and delicious food. I went to the restroom and returned to my mom completely passing out and non-responsive (having nothing to do with the food). The hostess, Cynthia and the whole staff could not have been more caring and professional. They immediately called security and 911 and Cynthia actually held the wheelchair in a tilted position the entire time trying to revive my mom and calm me down all at the same time. It is rare in this day and age to receive this level of service. I would highly recommend the restaurant for its beauty and quality of the food...but it is the people who really make it something special. read more

Came here on Saturday for a Mother's day lunch and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. It is a little bit over-priced, in my opinion, but that is to be expected for a restaurant in a department store. I had the Shrimp with Polenta and Flatbread Pizza and both were very tasty. Our server (who's name I can't remember) was great too. She warned me about getting one of the specialty drinks which I really appreciated. She was very nice and I liked her honesty. read more
