The Roxbury diner is a hidden gem. Great food, great service. Great vibe. Will come back again!

What a pathetic excuse for a food service establishment. After watching five employees joking around the entrance, we were rudely seated by what appeared to be a manager, Waited ten minutes for a server(for owner info- (dark hair and tattooed arms) to ask what we wanted without even looking at us. Told her our beverage order and she walks right by beverage station (we could see it clearly). Waited five minutes and got up and left. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!! read more

While waiting between interminable lines for an interminable time, it was 9 AM and thus time to find an appropriate breakfast location. Roxbury was near and I knew of it, so away we went into the traditionally decorated belly of the best. COVID rating: 4/5 stars. Most staff had masks on consistently. Tables were clearly marked off, plenty of space between people. However, our waiter had his mask off when not serving us. I don't know his name, but he was dressed in black while others were wearing white. Atmosphere: 4/5 stars. Typical NJ diner but a bit crowded (when not COVID), tables close together and the jukebox, while a nice touch, takes up a bit of room at the table. Food: 4/5 stars. The blueberry pancakes could have achieved 5 stars on their own. I got two eggs with corned beef hash and the hash portion did not merit the high price, though the modest amount provided was tasty. All of the food tasted 5 stars. Syrup selection was all the plastic fake stuff. They don't even brew their own iced tea here! Minus for not having that. Plus for having RC on tap instead. A "large" drink is really medium sized. Verdict: If I were in greater Roxbury and someone suggested going to the diner, I'd go along. But from home, there are better options closer. read more

I am a township resident, and for the life of me I cannot understand how a diner can open up at eight in the morning for breakfast. Shouldn't it be more like 6 o'clock when that's when most people go out for breakfast. So what we did instead was, we went right down the street to Randolph diner and gave our business to them. I mean seriously, I guess they don't need the business! So I'll give it to Randolph diner instead, by the way, it was a better choice for us because the breakfast we had there was outstanding!!!!!! read more

20 year patron until last night. Crock of Onion served in a shallow cast iron pon which looked like sauteed onions with melted mozzarella, told thats how we make it, ok but we have had it in a crock her before. Grilled ham and swiis on rye, got a Ham and cheese on rye toast with lettuce. Worst when we spoke to the manager he told us we were wrong and if we don't like it don't come back. Needed a spot to grab a quick bit on our way to the Poconos from NYC and this place did not disappoint. The menu is extensive, but they have everything you can ask for; whatever the mood you're in. Other than the large one sheet menus this diner has an extensive menu. The wait staff was spot on and deserved his tip. very friendly and the food was great. one of the best salads came with the dinner many difference type of lettuce, tomatoes, green pepper cucumbers and onion plus olives. I had the sirloin au jus and the wife had the roasted turkey dinner. 2 sides each Food was very good had to take home at least half, a lot of food. fresh bread and butter on table and very nice cakes and deserts available. I always like to try a new diner. I saw some of the previous reviews some were good and some were not so good but i wanted to try it on my own and see for myself. The staff seemed very friendly. Our waiter nick was really friendly and made sure to check on us and see if we needed anything. He did an awesome job. Our food came out pretty quick and was tasty. I got the New Jersey turnpike omelet I believe it was called which had three eggs, pork roll, fried onions and cheese. It was big and delicious. It came with hash browns that were good they put onions and peppers in theirs and I enjoyed that as well as toast. Also ordered was two eggs scrambled with hash browns and toast and the breakfast sampler which came with eggs, pancakes and the sampling of meats which included bacon, pork roll and sausage. The only downfall of that was a piece of bone in the sausage. But I'm not really sure how that can be rectified. It's just a mishap making sausage I guess idk. Overall it was nice. I didn't get any musty smells. The food was tasty. Service was great. Nick did an awesome job and if I were in the area I would go again ! read more

It had been a few years since we'd eaten at this diner, but after seeing great commercials of it, my wife and I decided to go back. It was a really good experience, I had blueberry pancakes and my wife had a BLT with fries. Both dishes were excellent! We were determined to try the cheesecake which looked so good on tv, but the meals were just too filling. We will be back soon for that strawberry cheesecake! read more

This is a really good Diner. The service is usally pretty speedy and the food is really good. They have carving stations at certain times of the week. Never actually there when they do them. Came here for lunch with friends one day. Our waitress was very accommodating to our large party. Wait time for our food was a little slow and we ended up having to ask for to-go boxes right when our food came out. The food was pretty good though! I ordered off their lunch menu and got the chicken panini with fries. The lunch specials come with soup. The prices for the specials were decent, all around $10 or less. I would come back here, but maybe after the lunch rush. read more

I always complain about my food and nit pick about service. I'm thrilled hubby dragged me off to the Roxbury diner on this Tuesday night. we had a great matzo ball soup, a really good Philly cheese wrap and a truly rave worthy chicken quesadilla. it was so good I will be back soon for more of the quesadilla. it was incredibly fresh, the food was hot (I always have issues with my food not being hot when it arrives) and the potato salad that comes with the Philly cheese wrap was fresh, not the usual glop out of a bucket every eating place seems to dish up as an excuse for a side. I'm hard to impress and between the fresh, hot food we got and the very, very reasonable price, this will definitely be a place we come get eats at on a regular basis. The Roxbury Diner Rocks, they have some of my favorite diner food around. The lunch specials are really great food at very reasonable prices. Sandwiches and burgers are delicious plus the french fries are perfect every time. Dinner specials are tremendous and very filling. The corned beef and cabbage is excellent and pasta dishes are as well. Seafood meals are always fresh and delicious. They offer lunch and dinner meals from the carving station, sliced turkey meal and sliced ham meal are Awesome. Plus they have a liquor license which is nice for those who like to Imbibe. Breakfast is very good and comes out quickly for the most part. I always get the Belgian waffles with fresh seasonal fruits. Omelets, eggs, pancakes and cereals are also very good. Service is very friendly and helpful and are a really nice group of people, who are very prompt as well. My Family and I recommend this diner and visit whenever we get the chance. Enjoy. read more

Roxbury, Diner We've been taking meals at this diner since moving into the area last year. We average approximately three visits per week. We always tip well,$10. -$15. to our servers even when ordering some thing as simple as eggs dishes. Today we went in for an early dinner at 4:30 with our small, 4lb service dog (the first time she's joining us). I was approached by a man asking if she was a service dog to which I replied "yes would you like to see her ID?" he responded yes and as I handed him the card, I told him it was illegal to ask for proof but gave it to him anyway. He then asked me what the medical condition was, also illegal. I explained to him that my husband suffers from seizures. I asked him if he wanted us to leave and he shrugged his shoulders. So we left. Had he come over with a smile or any type of pleasantness we would have chosen to stay and continue to patronize this eatery. He had an attitude from the moment he came to the table. The wait staff knows us well. They know where we like to sit, some of them even know what we order. Very unkind. Be forewarned that if you have any type of medical ailment he might not want you to dine in his establishment. read more

We used the Roxbury Diner to cater a recent brunch event. We worked directly with Jimmy and he was extremely helpful and communicative. The morning of the event, the food was ready at the time promised. Everybody raved about the quality of the food. We had french toast, bacon, and sausages catered. I've been going to this diner for over 10 years. I recently have noticed that they are watering down the Cream of Turkey soup and adding less rice to it. Yuck!! Please change it back. As far as their Turkey dinner special, they still serve freshly carved turkey but they need to improve the stuffing. The hostesses/staff are generally friendly (the older employees are much nicer) but they need to be assigned something to do/clean because they are loud and gossipy/rude during down times. read more

Comfortable and elegant diner with tasty food. From breakfast to dinner, the food is always very good-they have 4-5 soups daily - the cream of chicken is creamy and rich, though I wish they had it every day, and the matzo ball is excellent. I have given this Diner every opportunity to get it together. And yet again they disappoint us. We order chicken soup and asked them to add a few Matzah balls . Stopped into the Roxbury Diner on our way home to NYC after a weekend in the Poconos. Just wanted to leave a review because my wife, our two sons and I had a great experience here. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our food came soon after we ordered and was delicious. My wife and I had omelettes, our sons had French toast and a burger. We were all very pleased with our meals, I highly recommend the "Three Little Pigs". My son loved the French toast so much, he recommended that we buy a house nearby so we can eat at The Roxbury again. If we're ever in that neck of the woods again, we will definitely be back. read more

Nice inside. They are remodeling after many years. Waitress was quick to take order but never checked back with us. Was there during the week and had great food. This was a Sunday and much different. My chef salad was mostly just lettuce and some lunch meat. My husbands cheeseburger was so thin the cheese was thicker than the meat. Waitress never came back. My chef salad was very disappointing and not worth the money. We waited for waitress to give us our check but she never once came back. So we went to desk and waited for them to find it. If you want a super thin burger it's a great place and a chef salad that has a few rolls of meat and one roll of cheese. Over all a fail. read more
