Food taste was a 5, but my breakfast was only luke warm. My son was in heaven and said the best. So I would have to say kitchen needs work on timing. They were very busy and short a staff member so trying their best..but definately need work on communication between the host, waiter and other staff. Once the waiter figured out we got seated, but no service he stepped up. Since we were in no hurry it was not a biggie. Very clean and beautiful ambiance. Pine trees, sunshine coffee bar. Food was fresh and really tasty. Service was slow, but there was only one waiter serving the entire restaurant and being the barista at the attached coffee bar. We stopped here for dinner on our way to Nevada City from Reno. This is honestly the only option in the area and next time, I will pack snacks and move further along. We arrived when it was reasonably empty and were seated right away. Within 30 or so minutes, every table was occupied. Parking was easy and even I they had been busy initially, I think I could have found parking. We had entrees and side salads and they were ok. I don't think I will head back in when in the area. Okay, to start things off, this place appears to be a mom & pop shop, however it isn't quite that. Upon asking, this place is a place for teens to turn around their lives. They are taught skills such as cooking, cleaning, and being servers. Afterwards many of the young people move onto going to college. They are met daily with counselors. This is a 13 month commitment. Very admirable and I am supportive of recovery programs, especially if they work! Onto the food and service. The service was good. Our server offered coffee and stated they have soy or almond milk; in addition, they offer the coffees you can find at any Starbucks!! How cool is that! I ordered caramel macchiatos and they tasted as they should, and I'm quite a coffee person. For breakfast I ordered an omelette. You get to choose 1 meat, 1 cheese, and 2 veggies to go into the omelette, 1 bread item (I upgraded to a French Toast) and a potato item (I got the hash brown). The food tasted home cooked and it tasted like they cooked it in bacon grease for a taste like no other! It's the home style cooking that I grew up with! Nothing burnt, everything cooked exactly as ordered. The portions were considerable. I split my order with my 13 year old and it was more than enough to feed the two of us. Sorry, no pics this time, food was eaten already before I had realized I was going to review. Yes, the view is stunning. If you don't get a seat with a view, you can still be able to see out the window, just turn your head. The food is good homestyle cooking. Breakfast items are awesome. Went for what (we thought) would be a quick lunch before a scheduled tour of the Sierras. Restaurant was maybe a third full but kitchen took forever (30-40 min?) to get our food out. Everyone in my party was like wtf is taking so long, it's not like they're busy. They ran out of what one of my friends ordered so they asked him if they could switch up maybe 20 min after we ordered. The food that we did get was good but the only thing that they did quickly was give us the bill when we asked for it. Also had to flag them down for jam for the bread that came with my breakfast. We ended up missing our tour so only come to this restaurant if you want a leisurely meal and are not in a hurry. I saw other patrons get their own menus so seems like their service wasn't great for others as well. Ironically, we came to this restaurant instead of the one that our 100+ person tour group went to in the hopes of having a quicker meal but in hindsight, we should have just went to the original place. read more

Based on the reviews on Yelp, I thought that this would be a great breakfast restaurant to try. So this morning my brother and I made the one hour & ten minute drive one way from Reno to give it try. Bad timing to say the least! Upon entering the restaurant we were asked .... "Are You With The Wedding Party" ? No, no we're not. The reply was "I'm very sorry, but we're closed for a private party. Didn't you see the sign on the door" ? Obviously we didn't see the sign. We also didn't see anything posted on their website or on Yelp when both were checked last evening. Am I frustrated. Damned rights I am. After a long drive I was really looking forward to sampling some of the items from their menu which looks so very good. Guess the statement of "Where there is always room at the table for you" is quite incorrect. In summary ......... Call First. Save yourself a long drive for nothing. read more

Very disappointed with the service and meal ( Luke warm pancakes). I only got 1 refill on coffee never asked or got my wife refilled. I brought all this to the person waiting us, after we paid. He blames the staff cooking that are apart of a recovery program. The person cooking is under his supervision why blame them. The recovery program is a good thing but don't use them as an excuse for the bad service. Which was his responsibility to see we got coffee and explain the delay. I didn't leave a tip and feel bad. If the owner can forward a name of the recovery program I will make a donation to them. I'm all about helping others that need help. read more

We enjoyed this place SO MUCH!! It's very nice and clean, and the staff is super friendly and inviting. They have great quality coffee, and the lattes and cappuccinos are served in nice large mugs. We received our coffee from their coffee bar while waiting on our breakfast. My husband and I ordered their basic Rustic Breakfast (choice of eggs, meat, bread, AND potatoes or hash browns), as well as the French Toast. Both plates were so good, with great portions. I had the hash browns and I loved the seasoning, and they were cooked crunchy... just the way they should be. :) We ate inside which was great, but their outdoor seating looks beautiful. We will definitely go back and try their other meal items, and hopefully enjoy their beautiful outdoor seating. I wish I could love this place, based on the reviews I put this on my Tahoe wish list. Unfortunately last night I took this place off my list, my daughter and I arrive around 445 and in the next 25 minutes every table was full! They were out of chicken, steak, pork, and soup. That left burgers and sandwiches. I got a burger and my daughter got grilled cheese. My burger was very dense, I don't know if it was frozen for a long time or just really over cooked but it wasn't good. The bacon on top was smoked I think, and the blue cheese was great. My daughter's grilled cheese was good but her fries were too spicy to eat. We never got our drinks but the waiter was kind enough to remove them. I think with enough staff and supplies this place could be really good. read more

Food took a while and came out separately but it wasn't a problem and the gap between entrees wasn't too long. The food was delicious! The portions are huge! Wife and I went here on 10/18/25. When we showed up the place was empty, but started filling up quickly. We ordered before other groups started showing but weren't receiving any food. The table behind us got some food and I immediately started hearing them complain about how cold their dishes were. Table next to us started complaining about how there were ingredients in the food they could not eat that weren't advertised in the menu. Everyone else I could see looked severely underwhelmed with their food. 30 minutes or so after we order my burger and my wife's Mac and cheese comes out. The bottom bun on my burger is scalding hot and sopping wet. I took one bite and the patty is the consistency of boot leather. My wife said the brisket in her Mac and cheese was like chunks of jerky. The one waiter in the restaurant had spent so long chewing the fat with the people at the front counter that he didn't notice the poor guy in the kitchen constantly ringing the bell and was hidden enough away that the cook couldn't even find him. After the waiter eventually sauntered back to the kitchen and realized everyone's food was cold he just microwaved the hell out of it. The only reasons I'm giving two stars instead of one is because I'm sure the food would have been fine if the waiter knew how to do a job and because they comped us the awful meals that we refused to eat. Cute little "rustic" place adjacent to a rustic motel which looks like a neat little place to stay and go fishing and hiking. The breakfast was a we'll done classic breakfast which I ordered to go. They had some interesting options on the menu, and what we tried was done very well in a comfort food sort of way, with generous portions at a really reasonable cost. We stopped in for lunch on a road trip. I didn't get cell service, so I couldn't "check in" at the time. What a nice place. The staff was super sweet. I had the grilled cheese with bacon sandwich and fries and hubby had the clam chowder and BLT. I loved my food. The fries tasted like they were freshly cut and had just the right amount of salt. I liked that I was able to select the type of cheese and bread for my grilled cheese. The sourdough and cheddar combo went perfectly with the bacon. Hubby like his BLT, although he would have preferred the bread toasted. He said the chowder was good too. We sat outside so they served our food on paper plates, plastic bowls and we had plastic utensils. I think some people may have an issue with it, but it worked for us. Sitting outside with the trees made it seem like a picnic. We even had a little bird come join us. I also ordered the Mexican Coffee before we left. It was rich, dark and spicy. Cheers! read more

Not only did coffee and breakfast here fuel an entire day exploring the nearby Emerald Pools, but I thought about the food every morning for the next week. It was a delicious meal and the service was wonderful. We were staying at the lodge the night prior, and the restaurant actually brought our dinner order right to our door too. Sometimes hotel restaurants are just convenient and the food isn't something to travel out of the way for, but that is not the case for The Rustic Table. We stopped at this cute Lodge restaurant and immediately were greeted and offered something to drink and to choose a table. Prices seemed reasonable and coffee was brought to the table. Our order was taken, with only two other tables in the place. We waited over 45 minutes to receive cold ( very cold), cool French toast that the butter won't melt ( but good flavor) and sausage was the only thing hot. Then never saw our server until we approached him to pay our bill,he was sitting at the bar looking at his phone. Too bad because the place was cute and clean. Never again. read more

This place is the perfect stop on your travels or even worth going up for a snow day and some food. Their hospitality was amazing! They run an amazing outreach program, that I thought was so interesting and helpful to the youth, and I was really impressed all around. The food was ALL homemade, the fish and fries were great! AND they specialize in coffee type drinks, my sister got a dirty Chai latte and she said it was the best she's ever had! Those warm drinks are perfect to take on the go after your meal to keep you and the kids warm while you go right next door and play in the snow. They even reheated my son's hot chocolate before we left, so thoughtful! I forgot to mention the PRICES are GREAT!
