We walked in and were seated immediately in the side room. Our waiter came over quickly with water and took our drinks order. Brought our drinks back and took our food order. We ordered nachos to start and a burger and quesadilla for dinner. The nachos came out pretty quickly. I asked the guy that brought them out for small plates and he said he would bring them right back, but he didn't. We had to wait a little longer until we could get the servers attention: the other guy passed us like 3 times and still no plates. Eventually got our plates. So the nachos weren't as hot as preferred, BUT it didn't stop us. We were hungry and they were good. Good balance of meat, cheese, sour cream, etc. Our entrees came out and my husband really enjoyed his quesadilla. I liked my burger, cooked perfectly. So very disappointing!! Went to celebrate 2 family birthdays. We had reservations for a party of eight. We reached the table and the hostess had to get another chair although the table was set for 8. We were right near the fireplace but we didn't get any warmth from it. We did, however, get cold air from the overhead blowers. The food was mediocre at best. Two ravioli dinners were beyond al dente. The child's portion had to be sent back to be warmed. Grated cheese had to be requested twice. The steak was not cooked to the requested doneness. Although this is a large restaurant it has the atmosphere of a bar restaurant. The prices are too high for the quality of food and the noise level. Also, if you decide to try this place keep in mind that it shares the parking lot with the Rye train station so be prepared to search for a spot and walk back to enter the restaurant. read more

My friend got married in Rye and her wedding ended pretty early so a group of us hit up The Rye Grill & Bar for the afterparty. We had a large group but they were able to seat us on the patio. I didn't have any food, stuck to some prosecco. And while we didn't sit inside, I did walk in and saw how spacious it is with multiple levels. The Rye Grill & Bar was definitely busy but service was super slow. This is the 4th time in several months we returned as a family. The food is delicious, no matter what we ordered. The ambiance is amazing. What a beautiful restaurant. The service also is so good. The wait staff works very hard to ensure you have everything you need. From filet mignon to fish to tacos and salads, everything is scrumptious. The desserts too, especially the chocolate cake with ice cream on top. I highly recommend The RG&B for any occasion. They have party rooms for after wedding affairs. I love this place! I went for an alumni event, and I ended up staying for a few hours, even after our event was over. Our event was on the second floor - the servers were very friendly and helpful throughout the afternoon. I had a lot of appetizers including: cheese, crackers, vegetables, etc. and they brought out dessert too (lots of cookies). I loved all of their food and their coffee. We had over 100 people at the event, and the servers were attentive to all of the guests in attendance. I was very impressed. A few of my friends and I went downstairs to eat after the event - and, we ordered a few more appetizers (bread, calamari, and potato skins). The potato skins were on the small size, but there were a lot of them! The calamari was really good, too! I would definitely order both of these, again. Had dinner here on a busy Friday night. The location is great, but give yourself time to find parking if you drive. The place gets busy so make a reservation or be able to wait on busy nights. We started out with a mushroom pizza. It was good, with lots of good quality mushrooms on a thin, but chewy crust with lots of cheese. I also had a draft IPA (forget the name) and it was excellent. For a main I had the blackened halibut which was excellent. It came on a mountain of mashed potatoes with asparagus and a mix of capers and chopped veggies that fit well with the steak-like fish. Wifey had the lobster roll which came with sweet potato fries, to rave reviews. Little one had the burger to order with fries. I heard the burger was very good and I stole some french fries and can vouge for their deliciousness (seriously, the fries were excellent). Servers were busy but responsive and got things out to us just right. An extra beer made it onto the table (without asking) but our server took it off the bill right away without a fuss. We had outdoor reservations for 8 on Saturday 8/8/2020 at 5:30. Upon arrival we were seated promptly. The service was good and the server kept checking up on if we needed anything. I ordered the petite filet mignon baguette sandwich with fries and crispy onions. We had the potato skins (a bit too oily for me) and calamari. Both tasted decent. The meal came right after or a couple mins after appetizer. Upon finishing the server had asked if one party in our group of her plate was done about 6 times. (Diff servers) when we weren't done. Met friends in from the West Coast for dinner here the other night. I've always enjoyed the Rye Grill but have not been here in a couple of years. The menu seemed as though it had fewer options. I had a martini and the warm goat cheese salad with a petite fillet (sorry no picture). I enjoyed them both. The server seemed new and wasn't able to answer some questions or bring the correct coffee order, but all restaurants are short staffed, so we understand. Salad had no dressing and when we asked for dressing they told us they didn't have any left except for balsamic vinegar. Was here 4 weeks ago and same thing. Ordered a bowl and nothing they put on the menu was in the bowl. Every one at the table was missing something. Like my sister in law ordered clam pizza and there were hardly any clams on it. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the one glass of wine I had for the 45 minutes I sat there, was cold - not unlike the food when it arrived. This place has been our go-to for family lunches and dinners and some special occasions. It has always been consistently good - and it was outstanding during Covid. Maybe it's been sold ? Maybe they just don't care? Whatever it is, today was absolutely horrible. First, we were seated outside and although there were plenty of tables on the left side of the porch. we were given the LAST table on the end towards the stairs - actually an elderly man used the back of our chair to get himself up the stairs. We also, as a table of adults, we're placed next to a table of a toddler and an infant who we're not 100% -agreeable but not completely obnoxious. But - a table of adults - two elderly - please find a table away from the stairs and not backing up to a high chair. We ordered two salads with grilled chicken, one nachos with no chili, a glass of wine and a non-alcoholic Bloody Mary. We waited over 40 minutes - no one came by yo check on us, no one apologized for the wait, no one even asked me if I wanted a second glass of wine. No sign of our waiter. When he finally did show after we signaled for him- we asked about the food and were told that the chicken takes time to cook - and again - no offer of another soda or drink. Well - it finally arrived - the chicken was cold, the nachos were cold and the cheese had hardened. Horrible. I sought out the manager as a last resort. Again with the excuse that it's busy. I wouldn't have minded waiting if there had been any service - but there wasn't. The nachos and my glass of wine was comped BUT - two salads and a soda and a virgin Bloody Mary came to $63!!!!! $10 for a non-alcoholic drink????? Outrageous!!!! I don't know if the place has been sold and under new ownership, but we will not be going back again and if you're looking for good food and a relaxing time - Rye Grill is not it. My family and I have literally been coming to this place for over thirty years, back when it was just a small pub. We've been coming through all their renovations and have always been so happy with the food and service. Unfortunately, we decided to have our family (three generations of Rye Grill and Bar patrons) Easter lunch there this year. As always, the food was outstanding, BUT the service was DISMALL. Our server Pedro (?) was beyond rude and dismissive. There were 17 of us and only TWO special menus for the table, he was actually annoyed when we asked for more. One of our party ordered a special cocktail without the vodka (don't drink alcohol) and Pedro actually had the nerve to say that they were missing the point by not having vodka! We split the check three ways including tip, he was not having that, too much of a hassle for him (management may think he made up the amount?). I could go on forever but running out of space. This guy managed in two hours to destroy years of happy memories, let alone our Easter lunch. Not sure if we'll ever return.... read more

I called for 3 weeks requesting a contract, trying to leave a deposit to secure it, they kept saying they'd send it, but never did. Finally 3 weeks later they tell me someone else put their name down on my "reserved" room before I did. Then the host says "do you want me to just cancel?" Without trying to help me out or apologize for messing up and losing my reservation. The hostess had such a rude attitude about the entire situation and offered no help. I can not say enough great things about our lunch here. We were celebrating my parents 85th and 80th birthdays and they are very Covid-cautious. Mike and Erin were available several times over the weeks before with details of the RGB and its layout, and so accommodating. The weather closed the outdoor patio so they allowed us in one of the private rooms. That was above and beyond! We had our own server and she took care of everything so we weren't over exposed - again, above and beyond! Every meal was delicious and served at the same time so thanks to the kitchen crew as well. We ate several specials, some entrees, a salad and some items from the sandwich and apps menu. All terrific. The desserts were also very good! I would give this place a 6/10. Lobster was tough. Had to really bite through it. Even though the chicken was white meat and fresh, the actual cutlet had zero flavor.
