This pains me to write this since we have been going here for years. My family and I arrived around 2 no one greeted us and asked the bartender and a waitress if we just sit anywhere and they just shrugged. On the way to our table we passed by a waitress that was standing at a table who acknowledged us however once seated we sat there for a while without anyone coming over. The table next to us who were farther along with menus also was just sitting there. The whole time the waitress we past on the way in returned and proceeded to have a conversation with their friends while neglecting to come to any other table to assist. This place is a joke of an establishment. I went the other night with a couple friends to go on the rooftop bar. I was denied entry because I was wearing a Yankees Jersey. They said it's ok for you to wear that downstairs but not on the rooftop. Like who has a dress code for a certain area of their bar? Makes completely no sense. I haven't been here in literally 20 years. My friends were going here so I tagged along. They redid this place a while ago and it does look nice. Ok so we had steamers and nachos for appetizers. Doesn't go but they were good. Here's why they get 2 stars....I waited and waited for server to refill my water. Finally got up and went to the bar to refill my own water. The security guard tried to make sure that my sister-who was drunk and vomiting in the steer-- would go without water claiming it was an "open container"-- despite the state law that all food vendors must supply water. The French dip used to be a little bit better and the prices were more fair before they took on such a boochy type atmosphere, and then this happens. I guess you get what you ask for in life. I absolutely love this place. My girlfriends took me for my birthday and I had an awesome time. Our bartenders Travis and Mike were so awesome and the manger Chris was super sweet and so friendly. I order the short rib tacos and coconut shrimp which were delish and would definitely order again. I also like the fact that in order to get on the rooftop you have to be 25 and older. I thought this place was the Grand Saloon. I have been calling it that for many years. My wife did notice that they changed the menu a bit so maybe there are new owners too. We have not eaten here in quite a few years. We went for lunch on Sunday afternoon. Despite the Jet's game being on the place was pretty dead at around 1pm. We started with the 1/2 order of nachos. They were better than expected and were a perfect size for two to share as an appetizer. For just $2 more we could have gotten the full order. My wife had a cup of Harry's chicken soup and a cheese quesadilla. The soup looked hearty with lots of chopped vegetables, elbow macaroni and fresh chicken. The quesadilla looked a bit well done. I did not taste either one. I had the stuffed burger. Apparently, the stuffings change daily. Mine had mushrooms and some cheese...both barely noticeable. I posted a picture of my burger. The bun to meat ratio was bad. Way too much bun. The burger was a bit dry. The bun was very dry too. We passed on dessert. Service was awful. Besides being the hang out for getting liquored up with my friends, I just love the food. I love the wings (25 cents on Mondays!), the skillet of mussels, the dirt burgers and most of all, the French dip. Bridgette, owner of The Saloon was our guardian angel today. She witnessed my daughter and I get into a car accident close to her restaurant and came to our rescue. Without thinking twice she got into our car, coached me through what to do next and calmed my daughter down at the same time. I am forever grateful to Bridgette for taking care of us. Terrible spot for drinks at night, there are many underage teenagers there. The security will allow anyone in if they fit the dress code and if they don't they will still allow you to the pay the cover then get kicked out. Terrible bouncers, they were very rude especially that one white guy with the beard that looks like Trevor from GTA. He grabbed me by my arm and was very aggressive as I was trying to leave. I have been to the Saloon countless times but after last night I will no longer be going. We ordered the chicken special last night and was given chicken marsala over ziti. The chicken special we ordered was supposed to be in a white wine sauce with peppers and mashed potatoes. After letting the server know we didn't get what we ordered he said he spoke to the manager and apparently there was nothing he can do. So i asked if we could be charged for a cheaper meal since the special was more expensive than what we actually got and the manager said "No, it's restaurant policy". I worked for restaurants for over 8 years and have never heard such a thing. I feel like we got robbed and over charged due to a kitchen mistake. read more

Been coming here for 8+ years and had a drink slapped out of my hand by the bouncer who wasn't working the back door because I walked out to a group of 20 in the back who all were drinking and smoking thinking it was ok to step outside. No one was working the back door (when they should've) yet they yelled in my face telling me they told me this information when I hadn't seen the person all night. And hadn't talked to him since last year when I was in. On top of that I came around the front to talk to my friends who i knew from years prior who have always worked there just to meet the person who had just disrespected me and smacked my drink out of my hand just to double down and tell me to get out and that i was now wasn't even allowed in the establishment when he knew that he was clearly in the wrong. The only purpose of me walking back in was to get a drink replacement for the drink that i had yet to even take a sip of that was unnecessarily and aggressively slapped out of my hand and drink it in the establishment that i now knew I was not allowed to step out back to the private area they had out back where people seemed to be hanging out with there drinks and smoking cigarettes outside at. I was not allowed back in and did not get my drink replaced. Quality places can only remain quality when they maintain their values. When they do not and they can try and big time someone who is a regular there and has spent tens of thousands of dollars there, what more can you feel but disrespected. A couple of the other bouncers insisted that if I came back in the next day that they would buy me drink, but after the way I was treated me and my friends called it a night after what had happened, clearly that wasn't enough based off the way they ended our night early. After that we called it a night and all headed home. Completely disrespectful, inappropriate, and uncalled for situation that all started because a man who wasn't doing his job working the back door like he should've, noticed late someone walking out of their establishment with a drink and decided instead of letting them known they couldn't walk to the back area with a drink that it was ok to slap the drink out of my hand and big time me in front of all my friends. It's one thing to do that and to know that you were wrong after the clear communication that I've let known, but it's another thing to double down on your mistake and not even allow the person to go back in and get the drink replaced (which it would've been) and actually push the person out the door with force like I had done something wrong. The reaction of everyone else in the establishment that knew me made it clear that i was in the right, yet everything before and after that i dealt with was clearly wrong. Pathetic attitude and handling of a situation that was only brought about because a guy who wasn't working his station handled it the wrong way. I'm appalled by the way the situation was handled, but to not allow me back in the establishment and to act like it was ok to treat me that way and that i would just simply come back the next day when my night was ruined in that instant was clearly just disrespectful and ignorant. Went to the saloon with my wife for a burger.i ordered their signature saloon burger medium rare. And a Heineken ( since they said they got water in basement and had no tap beer. My wife ordered a wood burger medium well. The server DID NOT WRITE ANYTHING DOWN! Needless to say my burger was dry as cardboard and my wifes was a greasy medium rare.the burgers had a yucky taste ( couldnt place it).our drinks were delivered to the wrong table.the place was Not busy at 7 pm friday night. I told the server that the burgers were mixed up and she didnt seem to care. Had check there real quick.I give one star because the Heineken bottle was nice and cold. Fries are shoestring so they get cold very fast( bad choice by saloon). So in a nutshell...service Poor..food very Poor. Next time I will go with a quality burger from wendys! This is a good spot to grab a drink with your friends. The staff is very friendly and service is prompt. I am a sucker for popcorn which they have. Naturally, I need to drink more ice cold beer so that I can eat more popcorn! This time around I ordered some food - the Mississippi Gambler together with some onion rings. It is a steak sandwich with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. It was much better than what I was expecting. One half of the sandwich did the job for me. read more

Great music, but the only reason I'm writing this review is because the OWNER, after standing in line for the girls room for 10+ minutes, let her friend cut the line of 15+ girls and when I asked what she was doing she said "I own the place" well that's some amazing customer service and that's a huge f you to someone who paid $10 to even get into the bar. Might not come back simply because the owner (some old blonde lady) clearly thinks her friends are more important than paying customers. Why did I pay to get in here just to get cut in line for the bathroom. Wow. Throughly surprised how i was treated here. The upstairs bar is 25+. Apparently access through the back door (or access to potentially going upstairs) means you get in for free. The age 25 means the back door is free. The back door entrance can lead you to the main floor OR upstairs. I am 24 going to the main floor along with my 25+ friends. I had to pay to walk along the building and meet them at the downstairs bar... no one was interested in the upstairs exclusive bar that you offer. But thank you. ALSO i was referenced amongst the security gaurds for being that girl making a scene. Talking about the shirt i was wearing to reference me. Did NOT feel welcome after that. Came for a friends bday with 20+ friends and no one is interested in coming back due to this mistreatment. read more

This is usually our last stop for a night out in Pearl River. I once ordered fries here, they weren't anything special, I'll stick to the drinks. I'm always really impressed how the bartender remembers what I order. I'll often go months without coming here and he still remembers what I had last time, and the time before that. Am I that predictable or can he really remember that long ago? Often we'll run into some interesting characters here as well (and often the bartender can remember these people, really trying to figure out this dude! Also should really remember his name). From the cute guys, and old guys, buying us drinks to get us to come home with them to the girls that are out right drunk and dancing on the tables, and once I met a girl who thought it was the grandest thing that we have the same name and bought everyone drinks because of that. I know they serve brunch and lunch, but after some of the nights I've had here I don't understand how anyone would ever want to do anything but come here for last call. read more

She started off accusing us of being underage BEFORE she even asked for IDs. (me and my friends are all 24/25) then she goes on to tell us "she'll let us in this one time" but next time we can't be dressed the way we were. We all looked confused and she rudely talked about how our boobs were "hanging out" and we aren't allowed to wear shorts (it's the end of June?!) then girls behind us were allowed in without being IDed and one girl had a crop top with a very low cut shirt on, so she was let in but not us? Love The Saloon. I use to come here regularly back in college. Mainly because the bartenders know what they are doing, are quick to serve, and the inside is HUGE. Now I tend to stop up only when the Pearl River St. Patrick's Day parade is happening to get my drink on afterwards. I wish this place was closer to my house or else I would be here more often. On that day, it's a $10.00 cover to get into the door. Inside, on that day as well it is beyond packed so be prepared! This year, I opted to get a booth for myself and my friends. Luckily I got seated right away. Booths were very spacious. They can pretty much sit up to four people on each side. Service was excellent! Waitresses are very nice and regularly checked in on us which speaks volume because of how busy this place was. Even with how busy it was, they did not even rush us out which was just fantastic. Cocktails and shots are a little on the pricey side. $10.00 for a well vodka club. Beers prices are more on the average side. This week was the first time I ever tried the food they had here. French Onion Soup- was delicious and very cheesy!! Also got the mild buffalo wings which were also pretty tasty.
