My 1st visit. I parked in the parking lot near the restaurant next door. I noticed tall shrubs at the edge of the lot, so I went left to find the door. Woops, mop standing against the building and other paraphernalia indicated I found the service door. I walked around the other way and saw an entrance from the patio. I walked up to it and it was locked. Asked a patron on the patio and he indicated another door around the corner. Once inside, I sat at the bar and ordered a Labatt Blue Light ($3.50 bottle). This Has to be hands-down one of the best places to go for casual dining a great place to meet your friends the food was fantastic service is excellent and cocktails are amazing!!!! I started off with the whiskey shrimp great portion the shrimp are so good they melted in your mouth they were cooked to perfection, I took another customers recommendation and ordered the surf and turf for dinner my expectations were low because it was basically a bar restaurant atmosphere. When I got my dinner it blew my mind away the fillet was not a petite little filet mignon it was an 8 ounce filet that was cooked to perfectly, The lobster tail was a 5 ounce tail which was very surprising again it was boiled melted in your mouth. Everybody at the table loved the food it came in a timely manner and service was excellent. The biggest surprise was the bill I'm talking a beautiful surf &. Turf and it was only $25 not $50 or $60 like other restaurants with smaller portions. I Have to give a shout out to the bartender to (Long Island's) which were only five dollars apiece and I'm talking a 16oz. glass not a Dixie cup were excellent too. They've got a great draft rotation and it's an absolute no brainer "bar setting" that's still good for families. We just tried this place Friday night for the first time. There was a decent size crowd but was not too busy and we were able to get seats at the bar. They have a lot of TVs scattered throughout the restaurant. My husband ordered the special which was surf and turf (6 oz lobster tail, a nice size filet mignon, veggie and baked potato for $20!). It was a fantastic deal and the filet was tender and cooked perfectly. I ordered a pizza which I really enjoyed and would definitely order again. The menu had some great surprises: Twin lobster tails for $20 and several different fish taco options. All the food being brought out looked good and there were many things I would like to try. The DJ was setting up as we were leaving so I'm not sure how loud the place gets after 10 pm. The bartender, although she never once smiled, gave us good service and a nice pour on the drinks. Maybe she was having a bad night. If not, she should crack a smile once in a while - she would get much better tips. read more

The Sandbar is now open where "Murphys Law" used to operate. Ive heard the owner is the same dude who ran The Bayview Barge into the ground. Not any of my business, but thats the word on the street. Anyways, we stopped in for dinner yesterday and the place is done up pretty nice. There are a 1/2 dozen flat screen tv's all over the inside. The outside is a work in progress, but the new parking lot makes the place look inviting. The bar is kind of small, but there are plenty high top tables set up that seat 4+ each. Disclaimer: This review is coming from a 31 year old gay guy, who brought his partner of 13 years over to the Sandbar so I might be alittle biased in a few areas! lol The servers are these young, underweight (seriously - feed them!), Hooters-type. Our server was really pretty and sure had the bust to get some big tips Im sure, but had that young valley girl personality which was an annoying turn off for me, as being our server. She was a bit bubbly and I dont know if serving is her niche. We ordered our food. Dont judge me. I ordered the Chicken Fettucine Alfredo. It was pretty good, for bar food! They serve it with penne pasta, a nice (what might've been) homemade alfredo sauce, and a big ol' blackened chicken breast on top. It also comes with a side salad (which was yummy!). Their balsam vinegarette was ok, a little too sweet. The BF ordered the Harrison Burger. It was gigantic, must've been at least 1/2lb. I tasted it and it was obviously fried on the stovetop and not grilled. Whatevs. It came with carmelized onions, cheese, and mushrooms. I could tell it was sirloin meat too. It was pretty good but I didnt really dig the greasy taste - you can tell when the burger boils itself in its own grease and oils. Im giving it a 3 out of 5 stars. How about some cute straight guy servers or bartenders to even it out, as a recommendation? :) After all, not ALL patrons of the new Sandbar are going to be hetero guys you know. Worst.bar.ever. I went to this place after a long day of boarding strictly because my boyfriends best friend was leaving town and everyone had gathered here for a goodbye drink. I went into the restroom while he ordered me a drink. I walk up to the bar next to him and the bartender ( who looked like she was about 19) asks for my ID. I hand her my drivers license. she gives me the death stare says she can't serve me. She calls over her manager and she also says she can't serve me because my drivers license is "fake" ( I'm from Texas so that's what I gave her). Granted Ive been to this place about 5 times and I've never had a problem. At this point I proceed to give her 5 other forms of ID. 4 different credit cards, all with the same name and a picture of my passport that I keep on my phone. I also recite my driver license number, address, etc... She still refuses to serve me claiming that I got my drivers license from Canada. Why the hell would I take the time to provide you with 5 other forms of ID you idiot?! Surely, if they were concerned with underage drinking, I would've been out of there as soon as they decided my DL was fake. What really pissed me off was the fact that about 20 people came to the bar in this time span and not a single one of them was carded. Finally, the DJ comes over ( who's friends with my boyfriend) and the owner comes out and gives me the OK, demanding that the ditzy bar tender serve me. At this point, I'm over it. I was only there for my boyfriend and he was more livid than I was. She finally asks me what I want to drink with so much attitude that I look at her and say "I'm good, thanks". We just stopped by for a quick sandwich tonight. It wasn't very busy as it was before 6 pm. Our waitress greeted us with a smile and took our drink order right away. The burgers were cooked just right, juicy, hot and delicious. The waitress stopped at our table more than once to make sure we were alright. Coming from someone who has been in the service industry, that is saying something as I give servers the benefit of the doubt. The first time I went here, the server couldn't tell her head from her ass. The second time, my server was wearing some trashy underwear from the junior section of Victoria's Secret. I can't remember her name, but I can tell you that I saw the "PINK" billboard written all over her butt cheeks. Yes this restaurant has decent food. I am downgrading my rating, however. Service is so bad 9 out of 10 times. There seems to be only one girl here that gives a Crap about her customer's experience. One of my major pet peeves is unfriendly wait staff. I just don't get it. My second gripe is the horrible country music that is played very LOUD every single time I come here. I hate country music. So. Much. The clientele is racist and rude. Doesn't matter if they peel out of there in their brand new Cadillac, or if they are slamming dollar cornonas before climbing into a rusty work truck, they are loud racists. I really enjoy The Sandbar it is a great local restaurant which also has a bar. I've noticed lately that there are some women who leave bad reviews for this place it's probably because the waitresses there are very friendly and also good looking. Oh well I still like the place. It's got a great menu and everything I've had there so far has been delicious. They claim the chili is the best in the state I'm not sure that it is the best of the state but it is very good. The clam chowder which my wife had is awesome it's got a little different flavor to it but plenty of clams. On Wednesday nights best kept secret in Macomb County $6 large pizza cheese and pepperoni it is a delicious pizza take it from someone who has been a connoisseur of pizza for a long time granted it's not Luigi's Pizza but it is a very good pizza in for $6 anyone who complains should get soap in their mouth. They also have a Farmer Burger now this hamburger is out of sight it comes with cheese bacon and an egg on top of it great burger especially with some seasoned fries. Well I don't want to bore you with the rest of the menu but they do have fish and chips and they're delicious. I like The Sandbar and I also like Kaylee the waitress she does a great job she's friendly and she also make sure you're enjoying your meal. read more

The absolute worst service I have ever had! The waitress (wish I knew her name) working the floor on 3/10/20 around 7:00 was extremely mean. I was actually horrified to ask for silverware and napkins (which I did not receive with my meal that was slammed down on my table) and had to grab a couple drink napkins off the bar and just not use any silverware. I could tell she was on the verge to snap on someone and definitely didn't want it to be me! I find it ridiculous as we all get stressed at our job but I am definitely not allowed to display that kind of anger and behavior in my work place and I don't expect it to be put on me as a paying customer. A hunger and a thirst arrived on a cold snowy evening and it was decided we would enjoy a meal at the sandlot. We packed up the crew kids and all and headed out. On arrival we were greeted by a cozy warm all American bar. While it struck me as the kind of place where the drinks were served both stiff ad cheap, I worried a bit about the quality of the meal to come... We ordered made our selections off their all American menu. The wings we started with were of above average quality (though nuclear was not as hot as the name indicated). My lake perch was fresh and delicious. The 1/2 lb. burger satisfied the desires of my lovely pregnant lady and the rest of our crew looked fat and happy by the end of the meal! I've been to the sandbar multiple times, probably 15 or so. Never been disappointed with this place. Consistently clean, never had to deal with any "drunks" at the bar, and the servers are good most of the time! Food is really good for a bar, the sandbar burger is fantastic, as are the steak bites. Drinks are priced accordingly as well. Mondays they have all you can eat wings for $9 (they are fantastic) as well as half off pizzas on Wednesday and half off your bill for service industry on Sundays.
