Came here for the Duck Tsangwich, but they were sold out, so we ordered the Mala Wrap instead. It tasted pretty much as described, but the aioli was too heavy for my liking. It seemed mayo-based, and the flavor came across more like a sweet honey mayo than a bold Sichuan mala. 4/10. Ordering was quick through the walk-up window, and there are benches outside for seating. It took about 20 minutes for the wrap to come out. The wait for the Duck Tsangwich was around an hour, so we skipped it this time, but we'll definitely be back to try it.

Such a cool place! Their peking duck sandwich was sooo yum, we scarfed it down even though it was big. There is an area with tables but no seating. Service was fast.

Get the Mala Tsangwich, it's bursting with fresh flavors that really hit the spot for me -- nice portion of chicken (which wasn't spicy), fresh cucumber/greens, this tangy sauce that was to die for, all between two semi sweet buns -- felt really unique and satisfying to me. There's a couple tables to sit at and an unassuming window inside to place your order at, which gives it a fun little touch.

Truly just a board on the sidewalk to help me recognize that I had made it to, well, Sandwich board. I got the Duck. The Duck inside was nice and juicy, it's served with a pineapple bun, and for me it tethered on a little too sweet, which got to be a little overwhelming . But all the individual components are insane, and definitely worth coming back and picking up some new things off their menu.

My partner and I got the padma (weekly special) and fish pan - TASTE: 4/5 - enjoyed the padma's eggplant and red onion. Couldn't taste much of the fish pan's sweet plantain or jerk mayo TEXTURE: 5/5 - the padma's breaded eggplant and crispy hash browns, melted cheese, and fresh arugula were a perfect combo PRICE: 3/5 - higher price points on the sandwich menu: $14-$18. Our total came to $37 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - satisfied us for brunch. The fish pan was noticeably much smaller than the padma SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 11am on a Monday and were the only ones there. Order came out 10min later ATMOSPHERE: 3/5 - small, colorful space w high top seating, benches outside, and no bathroom

The mala breakfast wrap was are so good! There was quite a line and wait on a Saturday afternoon, but worth the wait for the wrap. My friends got their sandwiches and unfortunately we weren't big fans because the bun is sweet. But I'll def be back to try the other wraps

This was my favorite out of all the restaurants I visited in NYC this time around! I was attracted by the pineapple bun sandwich (the "Duck Tsangwich")--my gut feeling said it would be gimmicky, but I've really been craving pineapple buns these days so I wanted to give it a try anyway and I AM SO GLAD I DID! The Duck Tsangwich ended up being so freaking good that I ordered a SECOND sandwich, and THAT was so good that I ordered a DESSERT, and the DESSERT was so good that I ordered ANOTHER DESSERT (that final dessert was the only thing I didn't really like from here). It was like dominoes of pure deliciousness. The first sandwich was NOT gimmicky and actually really delicious. The Cantonese-style duck inside had that super authentic sweetness & juiciness (and of course greasiness) to it and was so tender and well cooked. And don't get me started on the pineapple bun--as soon as I bit into it I actually knew I had to ask where tf they get these pineapple buns from because it was so soft and the crumble top was delicious. My only gripe with this sandwich is that Cantonese-style duck is also very sweet, so this kind of overwhelmed the lighter flavor of the crackle top which is my favorite part of the pineapple bun. But this complaint is trivial compared to the degree of deliciousness that is this sandwich as a whole. I think I'd just be really excited if they came out with a more savory sandwich that used the pineapple bun! The second sandwich I got was the Mala Tsangwich, which also ended up being amazing. I might have even liked it better than the Duck Tsangwich but there's definitely more to write about the Duck one because it's so unique. Beautiful fry on the chicken and amazing mala sauce, and though not quite true to the Sichuanese mala flavor, was definitely reminiscent of it. This review is already a fat shill post but unfortunately I have to get started on the dessert: two boluo bao cookies used to make an ice cream sandwich. LET ME TELL YOU! BO LUO BAO COOKIES ARE A 400IQ INVENTION. ABSOLUTELY REVOLUTIONARY. I actually want to buy like 100 of these cookies and have them at my wedding but unfortunately I didn't do that. Wow. Just amazing. It has a similar texture to Chinese almond cookies (a little harder and more crumbly, so if you're a soft cookie fan you might not like it much) and perfectly captures the boluobao texture/flavor on top. Absolutely incredible. Also, the guy who runs the shop is super nice. I kept coming back to make new orders so he stored my desserts in the freezer for me so they'd be fresh to eat when I finished my sandwiches! TL;DR get one of the tsangwiches (or both like me) and the boluobao cookie ice cream sandwich. This place was a revolution for my taste buds.

It's a tiny storefront specializing in Asian fusion sandwiches. Prices are quite good - between $12-16 for a sandwich. Judging from the menu, I had high hopes and was slightly disappointed. I ordered the Mala Tsangwich, and while the presentation was superb, the flavor was lacking and bland. The sandwich barely had any mala spice and the chicken was too dry for my taste. Way too mild, and I sorta got bored of eating it halfway through. Right now, I can't recommend the Sandwich Board, but I'd love to come back and get proven wrong with another sandwich.

Absolutely amazing sandwiches. Their menu is a trip around the world and I absolutely love that about them. In the same place you can get a Malaysian breakfast roti roll and a Cuban sandwich or a Carribean coco bread packed with fish and plantains. The best part is it's all actually GOOD with flavors I've tried before but not in such a fun untraditional form. Visiting was such a pleasant surprise and I will be back without a doubt. The dining area has two large tables that can fit four to six people and then there's a couple very narrow tables against the wall that can fit maybe four people. It's not the largest space but it's good enough. There's also some outdoor seating. If you're vegetarian they can sub the meats for a hashbrown patty. Can't wait to see what else they cook up!

I came here because I really wanted to try the Duck Tsangwich but this was unfortunately a miss for me. I didn't mind the sweetness and the flavors that some others had mentioned. What bothered me was how dry the duck AND the bread were. The bread was so airy and dry (nothing like a true buoluo bao. I also felt like the lettuce and other ingredients did not look fresh at all. Overall, I think the idea is great and could be amazing but just wasn't executed well here.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and today I was specifically craving an egg sandwich, so when I saw it on the menu, I had to go. Now, I'll start by saying I make a pretty good egg salad sandwich myself. I've used milk bread and Kewpie mayo before, so I know how a proper Japanese-style sando should taste. Traditionally, it's made by mixing soft-boiled and hard-boiled eggs for a specific texture and richness, but unfortunately, this version missed the mark. I'm sure the other sandwiches here are great, but this one just wasn't it. The filling was overly creamy, more like a regular mayo-based egg salad, and the flavor wasn't quite right for a proper sando. I also couldn't tell if they used milk bread or brioche, either way, the bread didn't have the right texture or taste. I want to be back to try something else, but I'd skip the egg sandwich. I would have tried to swap it out for something else, but I had somewhere to be.

This is a super tiny takeout storefront in Chinatown. You order at the window, they give you a number, and call it when your food is ready. I got the tsangwich with peking duck. It comes on a bolo bao which is one of my favorite things ever so I was very excited. My sandwich came out within like 10-15 minutes and I went to the park nearby to eat it. Unfortunately the bread was already a little soggy. But it was still delicious! I'd love to come back and try other sandwiches here.

    Thai crab roll special
    Danielle F.

I work about a 15 minute walk away from the sandwich board and I make a point to try the weekly special as often as possible. My colleagues and I love the mala chicken tsangwich. They are both loyalists to the tsangwich and get it every week. One is vegetarian and substituted the chicken with a hash brown every time and loves it although I'm not fully convinced of its nutritional equivalence. Of the sandwiches I tried I quite liked the mala tsangwich and the lockhardt mercado. For me the meatball parm special was decent and the vodka dip was a great pairing. Misses for me have been the duck tsangwich (the pineapple bun was way too sweet for my tastes), Thai crab roll (good amount of crab but a lot of lettuce and not much flavor - more of a bitter taste), taverna shrimp wrap (very soupy from the vinegairette that dissolved the bottom of the wrap). However I will still continuing trying the specials! After all there's a reason they're not on the permanent menu. I love trying out all these experiments. Keeps life interesting. The guys are super nice and last time passed out soup to everyone dining in and waiting in line. They just finished up renovation on their indoor seating and it's quaint. Definitely come by and try a sandwich!

In my experience, the quality of the food has also always been excellent -- I have not yet had an unsatisfactory meal. The way that their website is set up enables you to filter search results across a variety of criteria, which is a big help in choosing your meals without the process being overwhelming due to sheer number of choices that are available. My meal shipments have always been on time, and up to the minute tracking is available on the day of arrival. I also typically leave the last order's bag/freezer packs outside my door for pickup. The meals also arrive chilled, not frozen. The only drawbacks to Cook Unity that I can think of are that there is no a la carte option -- a subscription is required; however, skipping weekly shipment(s) can be easily be done. Also, some of the meals are a bit higher in calories than I would like. Finally, several of their meals have had cuts of meat that were VERY fatty. Overall, Cook Unity is a great option if you're looking to try a food delivery service featuring both high quality and variety.

I was always curios about Joji Box but it' s not cheap - so like many I wondered if it was worth it. Eventually took one for the team. The first time I got the omakase box I didn't love having to sauce/wasabi it myself but I think that's just being picky. The last time I got the omaakase box, the omakase chirashi and the maki flight. The omakase box is a good assortment with a shimi, salad, two maki rolls and 10 nigiri. The pieces vary with premium ingredients like kinmedai, ikura, uni, toro, etc. It's costly at $62 but I think you get what you pay for. The chirashi had a variety of sashimi, lots of ikura and plenty of sushi rice. It's very good but for $50 I'd rather kick in more $ for the omakase. Maki Flight is great, $21 for a sampling of their three best rolls. It's 12 pieces total but they're nice size with a good amount of filling. If you're looking to treat yourself for lunch or maybe a nicer dinner takeaway - solid choice. I'm convinced enough that I'll try Joji for real one night.

I was able to pick from favorites such as burritos, bowls, quesadillas and tacos. I decided to order burrito bowl with guacamole, fresh veggies, sour cream and white rice. I was able to pick hips and corn salsa as a side and Harney and Son's Lemonade for beverage. Here's the recap: 1. I've ordered Tejas Barbecue and their smoked turkey sandwich is amazing. Streetbird has some tasty and pretty good fried chicken. Royal Greens salad bowls are very good, they're huge and all the ingredients are fresh. Fred's Meat and Bread make some really good burgers, very tasty and filling. Wing Trip makes great wings and if you want to order for huge party they have options for large combos at decent prices. Detroit Brick Pizza has some awesome meatballs with parm/red sauce and garlic bread. What's really cool about ordering from Wonder is that you can mix and match from different restaurants and pretty much makes your own meals which is a great idea. My only complaint I have with Wonder is a "restaurant" named Limesalt. They absolutely suck, the food doesn't taste fresh at all. It tastes like they microwave it. I've order twice from them and it'll be the last time I'll ever get Limesalt. They don't heat up or toast the tortillas when you order burritos, when you get the burrito it's a sloppy/soupy mess that falling apart and what's worse is that the food is not even warm. This has happened to me twice now so I'm pretty much avoiding them like the plague. There's dozens on top of dozens of real Mexican food in the area so when I'm craving it I'll order from one of those instead. Other than that Wonder is pretty good, I wish they had more "restaurants" to offer or at least switch up with a new one every so often or at least monthly instead of the same old thing they're currently offering. I'll continue to order from them because they do have some decent to good food. So hit them up if and when you're in the area or get the app to order, just avoid Limesalt (yuck)
