This spot still hits. It's been a while since the last time I had their sandwiches (I had the Dennis last time! Good but not my fave) and I was specifically craving a meatball parm. Why not go to an old-school Italian deli and bakery for that? $16 for meatball parm on a seeded hero with four big smushed meatballs. The meatballs were juicy and tender and delicious! Plenty of fresh mozzarella cheese and a fresh tomato sauce. I ate half the hero and am looking forward to eating the rest tomorrow after toasting it! This is a great rendition of a meatball parm hero and was exactly what I wanted. Prices have gone up (and where's the paper menu that listed more sandwich options?) and it was quite empty on an early Saturday afternoon (what happened to the lunchtime lines?) but I'm glad this place is still going. I love sandwiches so had to try this old school Italian deli! The Dennis is what they're known for, I got the one with roasted peppers for some extra flavor. I ordered at the counter and my sandwich was ready very quickly, probably in under 5min! I was impressed with their speed and efficiency. The Dennis is famous for a reason! I got it on a roll but I wish I did a hero because it was so tasty. The chicken cutlets were thin and not dry at all. Combined with the fresh mozzarella, the pesto, roasted peppers and fresh bread, it was delicious! Even the roll was very filling. They definitely do not skimp on the meat! Small line on Thursday1pm-ish, with mostly locals on line (as NYers, we were all a bit chatty and in a good mood, waiting to order their yummy sandwiches). The Dennis with roasted peppers is so filling. I made two meals out of it because half was already too much for one sitting. It was packed full of chicken cutlets and mozzarella. The pesto and the roasted peppers made it one of my favorite sandwiches in the city. They'll over fry the chicken breast and the chicken becomes dry and tough. Not at Parisi Bakery. The chicken isn't too thick, it's the perfect size and the breast was juicy. My husband and I were able to make two and a half meals out of three sandwiches.
