I've wanted to swing by here for a long time and finally got the chance. I even stopped in with the family before I reviewed to make sure the first visit wasn't a fluke. Don't judge a book by its cover or a restaurant by its older TVs or dim lighting. The food is your pretty standard breakfast fare done the way you would want from your local diner. The waffles and pancakes were exactly what we wanted but even better once we made a point to ask for some actual butter instead of the imitation spread on the table (our first waitress actually warmed it up a little bit before she brought it out). The country potatoes were a big hit with the entire family. The coffee was weak, but I wasn't there for the coffee. They did have sugar free syrup available if you ask for it which is a bonus for my family. My daughter wasn't really feeling breakfast so she opted for the chicken melt sandwich and fries. I politely stole a bite just for reviewing sake and it was worth the evil glare that I received in return. The wait staff was attentive and I could hear how well the kitchen was running. First visit to the legendary C's Waffles. The waffle (pecan) did not disappoint! Eggs (scrambled) were good. Service was attentive and polite. Went there for breakfast this morning. The food is excellent. The portions are big. The waffles are warm and fluffy. They do a good job giving you buttery Texas toast. The staff is friendly and they do a good job. They do a great job with their eggs and breakfast meats. Finally, I like it that they have condiments on the table for people to use themselves. I especially like that they put Jelly options on the table. You can choose from Grape, Strawberry and Apple Butter. At many larger chain restaurants, you have to ask for butter, honey or jelly. I got their Hungry Jack Breakfast, shown below. They are open from 7AM-2PM daily for Breakfast and lunch. With locations in Boardman, North Lima, Belmont (Youngstown) and Hubbard. The stars of your breakfast at C's Waffles shine brightly, but the cost-cutting supporting cast aren't ready for primetime. The lovely wife & I stopped at C's Waffles on a snowy midweek morning. The place is clean but somehow sparse. The ambience is dark, which is strange for a breakfast spot. Janice was our server, and she was great. The seat in our booth was broken & detached from the back, so it slid around. I chose waffles with ham and hash browns. Waffle was crisp & fluffy. Very good. Hash browns were of the shredded variety. Crisp on the outside, soft & mealy on the inside. Kickass! The ham was.... Ham. It was good. Ketchup was in a Heinz bottle but didn't taste like Heinz. I hate when restaurants refill Heinz bottles with Great Value ketchup. Butter was "buttery spread". A real waffle with fake butter is a bummer. A Bad Butter Bummer® if you will. Coffee didn't suck, but it wasn't great either. You could taste some Robusta in the blend. The coffee at a breakfast spot should be above average at minimum, and ideally memorable. Orange juice was obviously from concentrate; that telltale bitter, metallic taste was instantly recognizable. Restaurants today are in a tough spot. Inflation is through the roof and customers are looking for value. But when I dine at a restaurant with really good food like C's Waffles, the cheap condiments and sup-par drinks detract from the overall experience. read more

Who'd have thought I'd be eating here? A friend of mine now living in the Sunbelt who used to live in this suburb of the greater Youngstown area took me here. You'd easily miss C's Waffles, sitting in a small strip mall across the street from Lowe's in a fairly sleepy area. It's off the (free) I-680 ring road that encircles the Youngstown area off the I-80 Turnpike, a mere 15 minutes from the Pennsylvania state line. This is only a breakfast and lunch joint. As another reviewer said, it is primarily a breakfast place but they also put on lunch and do a good job with that. How do I know? I went back for lunch on my own. You can have great, big burgers and things like club sandwiches. Getting back to breakfast, I had an omelette and my friend had eggs Benedict. I liked my omelette a lot and ordered the home fries (cubed potatoes) with it. I would have preferred regular blander down-home home fries to the type I was served, which had some seasoning with some kick. The server was very on top of her game, working quickly with the several tables assigned to her and bringing out the food in a reasonable time. The pricing is fair. Take note that C's is funky, seeming like a place that could be on a country road in B.F.E. that people would still flock to. They were fairly full. And many folks were regulars. It's a little dowdy inside but, if they keep the prices where they are, you can overlook that. read more

This was our first time here and it was really good! It was comfy inside, and pretty cute. Our waitress and the hostess were super nice and friendly. They have a pretty big menu and everything sounded delicious. I ordered the tuna melt with waffle fries, and my boyfriend ordered an omelet. The waffle fries hit the spot and were perfectly crispy. The tuna melt was a little small but very good, the cheese was melted but the tuna was still a little cold. Not bad just not expected. The omelet was cheesey and had bernese sauce on top, very good. It came with breakfast potatoes that weren't super crispy but still good. The prices are great, I can't wait to try a waffle! read more

We came to Youngstown for a show and saw the next morning that we weren't seeing a lot of options for breakfast/brunch. This place had good reviews so we decided why not? We were very happy with our find! The parking lot was full and most tables were also taken, but we were still seated immediately. (Seat yourself type). So we looked over the menu and landed on some out of the ballpark options! I went with the hungry jack (I think that's what it was called) French toast, loaded hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage and toast. Melt in your mouth good! And my husband chose the southern mess (basically a big tater if you've ever eaten from a Tudors biscuit world)! His meal eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuit, cheese, and gravy over hash browns! We both left super stuffed and ready for a nap! I don't remember our servers name but she was told on it with making sure our drinks were never less than half full! 10/10 would eat here again. read more

The breakfast here is great, we go every weekend and have never had anything but a pleasant time. I always ask to be in Britneys section if she's available because of how efficient she is. We love all the servers but she never forgets anything and always has a great attitude. FOOD COMA ALERT! C's really knows how to get their customers to leave with full belly's! My husband and I ate so much I felt like my belly button was gonna go inside out and a waffle was just going to be need to be c sectioned out of me! Jeez Louise! Food was great, the waitresses smiled non stop to the point where is was uncomfortably sweet, and the booth seats were awfully comfortable. My coffee was always refilled and the silver ware was nice and sparkly! (You know those places that have gross stained silverware- yucky!! Way to keep your stuff pristine Cs!) With all that being said, my husband truly hated the curtains. It reminded him of those days back in the 80s when our daughter made him remodel her bedroom to look cyndi lauper threw up all over it! Maybe find a color more neutral and guests may be more settled. Otherwise- definitely go there and order the waffles! They are to die for- literally! P.s. don't be put off by the sign. I'm surprised to see that C's has no reviews! Knowing this, we decided to try them out last Sunday to see for ourselves (and update Yelp of course!). We got there around 10am and had a bit of a wait but no more than 10 min or so. Service was friendly and our food came quickly. I have the "C's Mess" which was really a veggie scramble and very tasty. My husband had some kind of Greek scramble (don't recall the name) that was very good too. My only complaint was in regard to the booth itself and it prevents me from adding another star. The table itself was quite sticky, probably from a past patron's waffles so that was a bit unpleasant but it was made worse by pendant lights hanging from old track lighting on the ceiling. The pendants were hanging low enough that they came just above eye level for tall people such as my husband and I so the glare of the halogen light inside was a bit overbearing. I found myself slouching a bit just to get away from the shine. Next time, I'll sit at the breakfast bar or ask for a table away from the long wall that has the lights above. read more

The place was busy on this Sunday morning. When we arrived we were seated quickly. Staff was quick with our coffee order. Waitress came back for our orders within a few minutes. With all tables full service was great. Looking over the menu I was surprised to see that there was very few combos that included a waffle. I would think that there would have been several since waffle is in the name of the place. You could add a waffle for an additional $, but I considered it pricey since I just wanted a taste of their waffles. My hubby split one with me. A half waffle on the side would have been great. Food arrived in a short time. Again service was excellent. Biscuit and gravy was not good. It had an odd flavor. I figured out it was the biscuit. At first taste it reminded me of old grease. I was not a fan. I got a lot more bacon with the order then I expected and my eggs were cooked perfect. Hash browns were nice and crispy. The waffle was a waffle. Over all food was good. Only thing I have a problem with is the waiting area. There are currently 5 people standing here watching me eat. The waitress had to maneuver thru waiting guest to take the table behind us order. Their waiting area is small and needs better control. Instead of standing out by the door the incoming quest stood on the our side of partition that separated our table from waiting area, and stared at us eating. Thank goodness service is quick and they were seated, but the 15 minutes of staring was way more then I needed. Overall food was good (exception of biscuit), service was great and atmosphere was horrible. I just didn't enjoy the waiting customers standing by my table. read more

Today was my first visit and I will for sure return. My grandmother and I walked through the door at 245 or so. The waitress working was cleaning and what not; she sat us right away. They closed at 3 but she was still super nice. Even though we came in 15 minutes before close, the service was really good and my waffle was amazing. My grandmother said something to the server about her bigger being greasy to the waitress who proceeded to take 1/2 off the burger then the cook came out and asked about the complaint. He also proceeded to tell my Gram he WANTS people to voice there complaints so he can fix it. Super great food, amazing service and the restaurant is very clean. Totally recommend this please.
