Their sauce and Dutch crunch bread is bomb.com! Highly recommend their sandwiches!!!!

This is the COLD Cheese sandwich. The MELTED cheese is on the left, it's not mustard.

I ordered a COLD sandwich, a cheese sandwich. I asked them for Cheese on my Cheese sandwich. According to the makers, you only get the amount you get with a meat sandwich. Oh, did I mention, it was HOT. I can eat this. This was their FINAL chance. If they don't give a crap, why should I give them my $$$? Not to mention they ALWAYS close early and the owner is an ASS. They also pass off day old Dutch Crunch rolls. Ever have a day old one? The outer cuts your mouth and the innards is not soft and fluffy.

First time trying sandwich spot at this location. Ordered MGM grand. It was pretty good for lunch.

This establishment has two less patrons. My friend and I came here for lunch today and saw the special of the day listed for $10 plus tax. It was for a tri tip sandwich, a drink, and potato salad. I've eaten here many times before as it is very close to my work. The special was a little bit pricier than I'm willing to spend on a sandwich (I don't typically order a drink etc) but I decided to give it a go. The sandwich makers were pleasant and made my sandwich quick. I got to the cashier who quoted me and my friend $11.91 each. We politely explained that the a-frame sign posted said ten dollars plus tax and the receipt showed 8.50 for the tri tip, 2.50 for the potato salad, and a free drink, which is $11 before taxes. The cashier kept stating it was "ten plus tax" and it took us multiple times to explain to her that the subtotal before tax was ringing up at 11 and not 10. Eventually, she said "ok" but did not make a move to remedy the situation. When I prodded her a little bit further, she said there's nothing she could do about it. She asked if I wanted potato or macaroni salad, and I asked for potato because it's my fav. My friend and I were dissatisfied with the false price advertising and the rudeness of the cashier. I reluctantly paid because they had already made the sandwich and I was in a rush. I know it's just a dollar, but it's the principle of it. To make things worse, the tri tip was fatty and bland which was disappointing because I usually love their sandwiches. When it came time to eat the potato salad (the only thing I was looking forward to at this point), it was a mixture of potato and macaroni. Nothing against macaroni salad lovers, but it's just not my jam. I went up to the counter to ask for potato salad and they said this was all they had. I sadly went and sat back down. I left sandwich spot disgruntled, annoyed, and unappreciated as a customer. I will be removing the menu that I printed up to display in my office and choosing to eat elsewhere with my coworkers next time.

There is also a condiment bar where you can add your own deli peppers, jalapeños and pickles. Oh my gosh...the sandwhich was huge! Definitely worth $12.95. My order was ready in about 5 minutes. The pocket bread is just toooooo delicious. So fresh and soft. Its definitely made to hold all of the fresh sandwich fixings. The next time I stop in for a sandwich, I plan to ask if I can also buy some of the pocket bread to take home. Yes....its that good! I ordered a large chili and their Big Al's pocket which included pastrami, turkey, bacon, lettuce, onions, brown mustard and provolone but I substituted the cheese with pepper jack and added bell peppers. The food was good although for the price point I felt like it was a little higher compared to somewhere like Corti Bros. I personally wasn't blown away but nothing was bad. They also blamed the bread being too small as the reason I couldn't add any additional veggies which I thought was a little odd but understood since they use pita bread pockets which can't fit as much as a traditional bread roll. My total after tax was like 23 bucks for the chili and sandwich. The service was fast and mostly friendly though with a lunch rush crowd type of ambiance. If they lowered the prices a little, I might have felt more inclined to leave 4 stars. I also said "finally" earlier to try them because I'm rarely ever in the area on weekdays so they're usually closed whenever I'm nearby on weeknights and weekends because they're only open from 9 to 4 Monday through Friday. Overall, I'd probably try them again if I'm ever in the area when they're actually open. Their menu did seem diverse with regards to pocket sandwich fillings and side dishes. I think I was just expecting more judging by the prices compared to other sandwich spots that have bigger options for around the same price or even less.

Eventually, I got a menu and ordered the Turkey Chipotle and Chicken Pesto Club. I have to give credit where it's due--the sandwiches were delicious. The Chicken Pesto Club was packed with flavor, the marinated chicken was juicy, and the bacon tied everything together perfectly. The Turkey Chipotle was so good I went back for the second half later. That's when I got an unexpected extra ingredient: a long hair in my sandwich. Nothing kills a craving faster than that. As someone who works in the food industry, that's a pretty big miss and instantly ruined my appetite. Cookie? Mac salad? Straight to the trash. The food was honestly great, but finding a hair in my sandwich definitely took some shine off the "best sandwiches in Carmichael" title.

This specific Sandwich Spot location was one of my original favorite sandwich shops of all time…read more My friend Ashley and I used to always come here and split a Cougar on Dutch Crunch, sub pastrami for turkey. Feeling nostalgic, I recently decided to have lunch here. I asked for a Cougar with pastrami instead of turkey. "You want a number 26?" (Looks at menu) "Yes, with pastrami instead of turkey." "Number 26, right?" When I had walked in, I saw two girls cleaning. One of them had stopped to take my order. After taking my order, she continued to clean for exactly ten minutes before stopping, washing her hands, and beginning to prepare my sandwich. (I'm positive that it was exactly ten minutes before she even *started* to make my sandwich, because I get a text message the minute my card is charged, so it's easy to just look at the text, and see how much time has elapsed.) As she finished making my sandwich, another guest came in. After she placed her order, the second girl washed her hands, and both girls made her sandwich together. While I had waited nearly fifteen minutes for my sandwich, this girl waited for less than two. It was so odd. As I ate my sandwich, both girls behind the counter stared at me so hard that I seriously wondered if they had done something funky to my sandwich. So, all of that was very strange. But the sandwich was good. None of the ingredients were missing. The veggies were all in ridiculously tiny quantities in comparison to the super smearing of sauce, but, it was all there, and it tasted good. When it comes to sandwiches, in terms of the meat, you get what you pay for. Sandwich Spot uses cheaper meat than some fancier delis do, but they also use a larger quantity of it. So, if you would rather have a large amount of okay pastrami versus a medium amount of great pastrami, then, Sandwich Spot is the spot for you. If you're really into premium lunch meat, though, this isn't it. The pastrami tasted like it could have come from the fridge section at Winco or Walmart. Overall, for a cheaper/lower-end sandwich place, Sandwich Spot is still one of my favorites. I love their menu, and haven't found a sandwich quite like the Cougar anywhere else.

I ordered the Barracuda, and my wife got the General Lee. Both sandwiches were served on Dutch crunch rolls that were so hard, they were nearly inedible -- my wife couldn't even finish hers because the bread hurt her mouth. Mine left the roof of my mouth sore, but I pushed through since it wasn't exactly a cheap meal. The fillings didn't help either -- the meat tasted like it had been sitting for a while especially the roast beef, and the vegetables were wilted and lifeless. The macaroni salad tasted identical to the store-bought Reser's brand, with that unmistakable aftertaste, which was disappointing. Overall, nothing felt fresh. Everything had the vibe of being prepped a day or two ago and just left to sit. I truly wish we had just gone to the grocery store instead. Sadly, this place didn't live up to the memories, and I won't be returning. Lesson learned.
