Sandwiches are fresh and made to order. I enjoyed the sports memorabilia decor and the menu was pretty straightforward with descriptions. We ordered the #16 Shark Tank and #37 IBEW 332 both on dutch crunch bread which were both fulfilling sandwiches. #16 is always my go-to and hits the spot every time. It's basically hot turkey, avocado, bacon, cream cheese, and bomb sauce. They have signature sauces here and the bomb sauce (jalapeño ranch) is my fave. The sandwich wasn't dry and I also enjoyed the crunch of the bread--Dutch crunch is always the way to go. Service was welcoming which is a plus and I had no complaints. read more

This was my first visit to a new sandwich spot. Unfortunately, I noticed some very unprofessional behavior during my experience. While I was placing my order, I saw the lady working in the back take orders without changing her gloves after serving another customer. This raises concerns about hygiene. At first, her attitude was a bit off-putting, but she seemed calmer by the end of my visit. I want to point out that this location is not the original "Sandwich Spot"; it's actually another private chain operating this restaurant. It's not surprising that such unprofessionalism occurs in private chains. Additionally, I believe there should be more than one person working here to improve service. TO the owners reply: Thank you for your response. However, I noticed that when the employee was preparing my order, she did not change her gloves after taking the gentleman's order at the counter. When she returned to prepare my order, she still had the same gloves on. Regarding the "Private" chain, there used to be another sandwich shop in San Jose that looked very different from this one. The comparison between the two locations shows they are quite distinct from each other. Therefore, I believe this is a different chain than the original "Sandwich Spot" that was located at the border of San Jose. I tried this place out when they first opened at this location (it's a chain) and was disappointed, but didn't want to tank their rating so waited for some other reviews to roll in. Sunnyvale is need of a really great sandwich place and this just wasn't it for me. The first time I tried a meatball sub and was disappointed by it -- bread wasn't very fresh, flavor of the sauce was strange, and meat was flavorless and dry. Second time I tried a more traditional sub and it was simply okay -- even Jersey Mike's nearby is better. I'm bummed to leave a bad review because the staff was very friendly and helpful to answer any questions the two times I went, but still can't recommend going here. I have been here twice now for take out and my experience each time has been very different, hence the 3 stars overall. On my first visit, I tried the Phil Hellmuth (#2) on Dutch Crunch and it was a delicious and filling sandwich! The Dutch Crunch bread was lovely, and there was a decent amount of meat and veggies in the sandwich itself. My boyfriend chose the Angry Bird (#31) also on Dutch Crunch, and it was arguably tastier than mine. Fast forward a few weeks later, I was craving a good sandwich and figured I'd go for The Sandwich Spot again since it hit the spot last time. I got the Natasha's Heart Attic (#28) on Dutch Crunch and it fell flat on multiple dimensions. Not only was the bread stale, but there was basically no filling inside and parts of the sandwich were just bread and sauce. I love the Sandwich Spot chain, but this location is in a very ugly strip mall with rusted metal and chipped paint on the exterior and a smoke shop and it's quite depressing to visit. And they skimp on meat. The last quarter of the sandwich was basically just bread and veggies. A major disappointment. Seems like this franchisee skimps on everything from location to the products. Yikes. I also remembered my sandwich was supposed to have bacon and avocado, and I don't remember tasting either of these on it. Reduced to one star. read more

Very good!! Probably my favorite sandwiches in the bay given taste and price. Ate the golden state with the hot turkey, cranberry, and cream cheese and it did not disappoint. I love the Sandwich Spot. I always have. I was disappointed that the Mountain View location closed a while back, but I was also happy to hear that this one opened up a few blocks away (I don't know if it's the same owners though). I ordered a #8 and a #15, two of my favorite sandwiches. I also ordered them with no mayo and no peppers. The #8 was missing the psycho sauce so it wasn't spicy at all. And the #15 had a ton of mayo and peppers on it. So that was disappointing. However, I still say these are my favorite sandwiches hands down. Hopefully this location can stick around. read more

The woman who works here gives me a hard time each time I try to redeem the student discount. I show her my VALID school ID which happens to be digital bc my college doesnt provide physical IDs. She says it has to be physical pointing at the sign, where it never says "physical", just "valid". Arguing with me back and forth just to give me the discount. I just want to save my $3 but again as a STUDENT, it adds up. Be more clear with needing "physical" proof on the sign or just dont offer the discount overall. This is a new location. The strip mall this restaurant is located in is not very nice, but once you step inside the ambiance is much more cozy. It's not very big inside, but I'm not sure this location will have lines as long as the other Sandwich Spots. I got the #2 hot turkey, bacon, cheddar and avocado. A pale comparison to what the sandwich spot in Mountain View represented.... Was the only customer for one sandwich, shouldn't take the 12/13 mins it did to make. Missed the extra meat too, so there's an extra charge on top of the egregious tip recommendations (my fault for tipping the first time I try a place out I guess!). The roast beef on the 17 was horrendous, genuinely just brown mush, embarrassing stuff tbh. I won't assume yall were stoned on the job, but holy SH*T, you coulda fooled me. Try a lil harder please. The sandwich I ordered costed $14.26 after tax. But what was not okay was that the fact that the cashier robbed me of $4 of the change I was supposed to receive. The fact that there was little to no change in the cash register does not justify this. Not to mention, I was never offered a $4 credit in my receipt that I could just use the next time I would go there. If they didn't have sufficient change in their cash register, they could have asked me to pay by credit card. Absolutely disgusting! I am never getting food from this place ever again! I've been to this new location a number of times now and I have to say it's better than the old Mountain View location, it's cheaper, has fresher ingredients and more meat plus the menu is way bigger with better options!
